I live in a community in Deerfield Beach and the internet always interrupted abruptly and it takes days for them to return. It's always happening. This is an update from my review on July 26 in reference to my experience with a Fibernow Technician. After I hanged up from Vince I called back and got the original person I spoked to first whose name is Chris.I asked to please read Vince notes and he did. I told him I do not want my system to be change. I told him my daughter and grand daughter was there. He said what he was going to tell us was already done already, so he just need to send a technician to the house. He up an appointment for Monday July 28th between 1-5, took my grand daughter's number. Troy was the technician and since he had another job to do in my community in the morning, he reached out and asked my grand daughter if it was possible to meet up at my house. Our daughter met him already working on the box outside. That was where the problem was and not inside the house. She said he was nice, professional and respectful. He told her he would notify her when he was ready to enter into the house. Upon entering into the house he made sure everything was up and running. He also makes sure I could have pulled up everything on my phone. We were totally satisfy with his work. So kudos to Chris with his great customer service and Troy with his excellent workmanship. Needless to say Vince need to be trained properly in how to interact with his customers and customer service. My service is up and running again and I'm elated to know the problem was not inside the home. read more

My community just received the new Stream TV Box and I have to say I am very happy with it. It has a feature that it can go back 3 days on all channels which is very help full for me since I work crazy hours. All of my apps and TV shows are now in the same place so it makes it easy to find my shows. I would have given them 5 stars but I had a small issue getting the remote to pair with my TV. 02/06/2022 We have just celebrated our one year anniversary with OpticalTel and have found their TV and internet service to be very good. Some issues came up with the TV service in buffering and the voice synch being off, but they have been resolved with a major software update that has been rock solid. We've had three times the system died and it took hours to come back, but it only takes an overeager backhoe operator moments to sever the main fiber optic cable. The best thing about this system is the amazing internet service. We are getting over 200 Mbps both up an down the majority of the time which makes loading websites fast and simple. Video conferencing like Zoom is a delight to work with, far better than what we had on Spectrum. As a heavy internet user, I am delighted at how strong this OpticalTel service is, no complaints. The two wireless mesh transmitters work well and they have eliminated all dead spots from the road out front to the back yard. There's a strong signal everywhere which is how it should be. Finally, I have to give customer support a vote of confidence for keeping things working. OpticalTel uses the Amino TV box for 100% wireless TV service. I have had two that failed, but if I call them today it highly likely that the technician will be here the next day to replace the box. It's not a critical issue as swapping the dead living room box for the one in the bedroom takes just a couple of minutes and we're good to go till the technician replaces the dead box. If you are interested in superb internet service and very good TV service, you can't beat OpticalTel's bulk rate of $55 a month. It comes with two wireless transmitters, the fiber optic box outside, and two TV boxes with a boatload of channels and 250 hours of DVR HD recordings. read more

We are in a community in Lake Worth Florida. I must admit the telephone support is exceptional. HOWEVER, our community channel has been down for over one year. The line we are given to keep us quiet is that "Opticaltel's Field Services Team is working diligently on replacement equipment to restore the community channel." If it takes over one year for your team to find replacement equipment, maybe you need a new field team! Or maybe you just don't want to be bothered providing the Community Channel you committed to. Also we have been without the Ovation channel for over one year. Ovation is the best of the movie channels we get. The line we get here is that Opticaltel is in negotiations with Ovation regarding a new contract. If it takes over a year of negotiations it becomes obvious Opticalteli is not serious about the negotiations, or about commitments to customers. If you can not work out a deal with Ovation give us a credit for every unit for every month! Do you expect our association to renew the contract when this is the service we get? read more

The technicians are courteous but the service is horrendous. The TV stations are limited the services comes and goes. The option of HD is limited most stations look like I'm watching the TV in the 80's. I'm disappointed because it is a part of my association fee and I am about to get another service because which means I will be paying for two services. Utter nonsense. So I've had opticaltel for about a decade now. It was great before we went with amino boxes which are horrible btw Their product is amino boxes. Their interface is very poor. You go through the TV guide and select a channel sometimes it works and goes directly to the channel sometimes it doesn't and give you the option of recording or playing episodes instead. My newest problem is my remote stopped working. I figured call customer service and have them send over a new one. Called them waited a like 20 minutes. Got a tech on the phone we troubleshoot the remote issue. He determines I need a new remote. Only took another 30 minutes. He then proceeds to tell me that it's out of warranty and I have to PAY for another remote. I say "what a minute opticaltel owns the equipment why would I have to pay to replace equipment they own? ". Customer Service told me that's their policy. So if my cable box breaks technically I would have to pay for another cable box! We are new to OpticalTel. We are shocked at how poor the entire experience has been. Starting with customer service. Although they have all been very nice, they must have just one rep for the entire country. This week I listed to their very crappy hold music for 20 minutes, at which point I hung up. The product itself is like something out of the 1990's. So far behind in technology that it's sickening. If you're moving from a large cable company to this company, prepare to be EXTREMELY frustrated. Big advice: Don't be like me--I assumed that all neighborhoods have access to normal cable services. In West Palm Beach community. I signed up and added HBO-easy, right? In a year, I have had up to half the HBO channels go black when accessing them. Upon calling for help, they quickly slide into hostility, interminable holds (message-"hang up, b&$%#"), and snotty "We're working on it". This occurred 4 times and always a loooong hassle leaving me with nothing but anger AS A CLIENT ASKING FOR SUPPORT FROM A SERVICE PROVIDER. Canceled my HBO. In our opinion, Opticaltel is the WORST cable company that we have ever dealt with, not because of their staff, (they have been great), but because of those in the decision-making positions. Our HOA has contracted them to provide internet as well as cable service to our community, and while the channels available to us in the past were not necessarily the ones that we used to choose through our previous contracted providers, at least they made some channels available to us that we liked, up until their last, and most recently, upgrade and change. Even though the Principals of Opticaltel appear to be Hispanics, it looks like they have something against Hispanic networks, including Univision, Telemundo, Wapa TV and/or other Hispanic networks. We wanted to continue our relationship with Opticaltel as the they, in our assessment, provide a good quality internet service, but when it came to our concerns and needs as it relates to the TV cable service, it was to no avail, as they do not want to address, nor hear about including those networks as a part of our options. Plainly put, THEY JUST DONT'T CARE! We just hope that Opticatel's reasons as well as rationales behind theirs's refusal to include the aforementioned networks ARE NOT politically motivated, and or related to the "principal's" sentiments against some networks, as it would be a very sad indication as to where we are heading as a nation. As the result of our inability to get through Opticaltel to meet us "halfway" in relation to the service that we want, we have submitted our application to our HOA to allow us to install and to contract with a Dish TV Service provider, so that we can tune to the channels and networks that we want, that we want to tune into, and that we feel that are fully committed to fulfill the needs of our growing communities. Recommendations! Opticaltel, do the math, look at the numbers, you can't be bling sided! ! My parents live in a 55 plus community with free basic cable from these guys. Cable has to be reset every couple hours . Sometimes we can do it ourselves and other times we call customer service. They are always very apologetic but can never explain why the cable keeps on funking out. read more

Moved into a new construction community where Opticaltel is my only option. First their appointments are 3 weeks out Inly to come and tell you that our fiber optic lines were cut. My neighbor closed a week after, they gave him appt 3 weeks out and told him the same thing. Being that my appt was a week before his you'd think they would have been proactive about checking the row of houses - see where line is cut. Anyways it's been over a week no response as to whaf is being done, eta, nothing and now reading these reviews about how bad the service is I am really regretting buying this place. Absolutely horrible company. Just moved to a HOA where it is included. Have had nothing but trouble . Overcharging for sports channel, no customer service, cannot even speak with a supervisor. Beware, you get what you pay for. It is still not working after the calls and mea culpas. So, no internet or tv for 4 days until a tech can come out to look. In the mean time, we got another cable company to come and install their new service and has us up and running perfectly. This of course, is an added expense to us as the other cable company is included in a 10 year contract with our HOA. There should be some recourse as they are not performing to what I am sure was their initial presentation to the board. BEWARE. read more
