I have been dealing with chronic pain for 2 years now and needed a referral from this office to Rheumatology. I went for an in-person appointment and had my Rheumatologist picked out and their fax number, address etc. all written down. It could not have been made easier. It took them SIX WEEKS to get the referral sent properly. Along the way the front office brushed me off and wouldn't let me speak to MAs who actually knew what they were doing. They were quite frankly condescending and dismissive. When my doctor weighed in, he offered no apology and kind of shrugged his shoulders. For a specialist scheduling several months out, they added an extra month and half to my wait while in severe pain and scared out of my mind not knowing what was wrong with me. My doctor said, "well the issue here is that the attending needs to sign or else they can't accept it". OK... why are you telling me this?! I cannot create nor sign the referral as a patient!!!! That's what YOU do. I could go on and on. It's not all bad (hence the two star review instead of just 1 star) they have some good doctors there and I have had some good experiences with staff. But when I really needed help, I was cast aside.

The hospital performed many blood tests, CAT Scans, Chest XRays, MRI, colonoscopy etc., and discovered that I also had Valley Fever that had spread to my lymphatic system and internal organs. All of these tests and diagnosis were clearly noted in my medical records and available for Dr. Karnani's review. I was still near level 10 pain following my discharge and reported to Dr. Karnani. He made me feel like a burden, no compassion, failed to perform an exam of any kind and would not prescribe pain medication and so I suffered terribly for several weeks until I could see my pulmonologist, gastrointestinal, and internal medicine doctors. Two months later, I was forced to see him (MY PCP) again, and he would not even renew my Fluconazole Antibiotic for Valley Fever, even though I was going to run out before my Pulmonary Appointment 18 days later. Moreover, as my new Primary Care Physician (PCP) he declined to renew my Alprazolam for PTSD and my testosterone therapy that I had been on for 15 years again adding to my pain and suffering. He told me there are several meds he won't prescribe regardless of the results. He made me feel like a scammer or liar despite a novel of supporting medical testing and previous prescriptions for the same. I shared embarrassing and emotionally painful experiences with him and explained how the meds worked for me and improved my quality of life, and he became agitated. I finally got up and kindly dismissed myself from his office, and the worst doctor experience of my life. Dr. Karnani stigmatises certain medications regardless of the proven or positive result with the patient. Even with overwhelming support of several physicians, testing, and years of positive results. Beware he WILL NOT FILL MANY MEDICATIONS AND FAILS TO TREAT HIS PATIENTS WITH DIGNITY AND RESPECT! IN FACT HE FAILED TO EXAMINE OR TREAT ME AT ALL! Troy H.

And, I regret that....I was a patient here before this became a Primary Care Walk-In clinic, and the only reason I continued coming was because it was convenient. Over the past few years, though, I've dealt with issue after issue: appointment problems, prescription mistakes, blood draw issues, and constant miscommunication. It feels like there is little to no communication between the staff, and unfortunately, it shows. There have been multiple occasions where staff arrived late, appeared disheveled, and seemed completely unconcerned about the patients waiting to be seen. I've tried to be patient and understanding despite all of the repeated mishaps, but this morning was the final straw. Once again, I found myself dealing with an unorganized, time-wasting, and completely unnecessary situation that should never have happened. After years of giving this office chance after chance, I simply couldn't stay quiet anymore. Patients deserve better. We deserve a medical office that values our time, communicates effectively, and operates professionally. Unfortunately, that has not been my experience here, and I can no longer recommend this practice.

We've been ignoring it because they are close and easy to get same day appointments. We had an appointment today at 3:30. The waiting room was packed and I overheard parents saying they were there to see the same doctor. I asked the front desk staff if they were behind (15 minutes after my scheduled appointment) and was notified the doctor still had 3 patients in front of us. I asked the front desk why they didn't call people to tell them that they were so far behind, and she said they didn't know. You don't get delayed THREE appointments that quickly. They also failed to tell me when I checked in for the appointment. Do better. We shouldn't have to juggle kids in your waiting room (especially ones who are very anxious for scheduled vaccines) because you are running behind and don't tell anyone. Pure insanity. We will be looking for a new pediatrician after today.

However, our most recent visit made me seriously consider finding a new clinic. During this visit, I was informed there was an issue with our insurance. I provided the current insurance card and a reference number from our insurance company at the front desk, and was asked to wait in another room. When the nurse came to bring us in, I asked if the insurance issue had been resolved. At that point, a staff member at the front office abruptly responded, "That's why I asked you if you wanted to pay out of pocket for today!"--in a noticeably rude tone. It's disappointing that one unpleasant interaction can overshadow the efforts of the many kind and professional staff members we've encountered in the past. I understand that, to some staff members, we may be seen as "patients" and not "customers," but basic respect and kindness should still apply. I genuinely hope this individual can take to heart the simple principle of treating others the way they would want to be treated.

Two days later with the symptoms getting worse and the OTC meds doing nothing, my wife passed out and fell. The paramedics took my wife to the hospital, and with a nasal swab was diagnosed with RSV. RSV is a serious viral infection especially for the old and the very young. There is no cure while the virus is active, but there is medicine to reduce the symptoms. If the nurse at CVS had considered our age and the potential for us having RSV (I told her I have never had and do not now have allergies to pollen) and offered the nasal swab we could have begun treatment for the RSV symptoms days earlier and my wife wouldn't have passed out and fallen. The result of the fall is a compression of the L1 vertebrae. Very painful. I would not recommend this facility for anything more severe than a sliver and only then if no other place else is available.

The practice has gone downhill since it was absorbed by Optima, just another Walmartlike company absorbing doctors' offices. I would not recommend them for care and with Dr. Levins being gone, they don't even have physicians at Tatum Highlands anymore, just PA's and NP's, according to their website. Reading through other reviews, I will also state that it is hard to get prescriptions sent in correctly. Cathy was very hard to work with even after multiple calls to her. I also had billing issues because whomever is doing the coding obviously doesn't know how to do their job. My annual physical this year was coded as a high regular visit. As cumbersome as it will be, I am finding a new PCP that actually has a physician at their practice that offers patient-centered care

Previously they were fantastic about communication and responding to prescription refill requests. Over the past 6 months they've gotten progressively worse and worse. Calling to refill the prescription used to be a same day affair, instead now they delay and I'm lucky if I can even get them on the phone when I call. Unfortunately with medication shortages, their slow speed at faxing/electronic prescriptions has yielded delays in me getting my medications. It means I have to call back repeatedly and hope that they have some urgency. Since they were acquired by a different practice, their care quality has gone down significantly. Given the longevity of being there, I'm giving them another chance, but if not I'll have to find somewhere new.

Apparently it's "office policy" that unless you shell out the $100 out of pocket at least yearly for a doctor's visit that takes less time to simply continue the prescription than waiting for the giggling with female employees to stop does, they cut you off won't even do a 1 month extension so you can actually make an appointment. ***A funny update: the day after I posted this negative review, the vindictive practice sent a letter stating I could no longer be their patient, as if I would have anyway. A word of sorely needed advice: less time hawking reviews online and getting bent out of shape for the poor job you did, more time acting ethically to the patients who pay far more than the 30 second visits are worth.

I was a patient at this practice for a few years unfortunately and ultimately left with a very…read moredisappointing impression of how patients are treated when they raise concerns. From the beginning, I repeatedly requested to see the physician, Dr. Perez, for my primary care concerns. Despite multiple requests over several years, I was consistently scheduled with the Jen the PA instead UNLESS I wanted to invest in aesthetics treatments. Yah it's Scottsdale, but I'm here for my health, not my appearance. While I understand the role of physician assistants, I specifically wanted physician involvement in my care and was never able to obtain it. (I still don't have answers from last summer's outstanding health issue because they truly don't care about their patients health). I also experienced ongoing communication and billing issues with the extremely rude front staff. On more than one occasion, I was told coding corrections would be submitted to insurance and that I would receive updated itemized invoices. The invoices never arrived. When I called for updates, my voicemails frequently went unanswered. I later learned that at least one bill had been sent to an incorrect address. My final experience was the most concerning. I had recently recovered from Influenza B and was suffering from what was later believed to be Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease. I was in significant pain and visibly ill during my visit. As I was leaving, I was aggressively confronted about an outstanding $100 bill that I had previously called about and requested information on. When I attempted to explain that I had already been trying to resolve the billing issue, I was repeatedly interrupted, dismissed, and treated with hostility rather than professionalism and empathy. The girl rolled her eyes at me, shook her snubby pony tail at me looked like she wanted to hit me. I told her to just email me the itemized invoice and I'll pay it when I get home. That invoice also had an incorrect address on it. Go figure. The competence here is real high as you can see After sending a message through the patient portal about my experience to Jen, I finally received the first and only message from Dr. Perez himself. Unfortunately, instead of addressing the communication and billing concerns I raised, I was told that I seemed to "have a problem paying my bills" and was informed that I should seek care elsewhere. This was particularly surprising given that I have always paid my balances and had repeatedly attempted to obtain clarification before paying invoices that I had not received. It's not about the $100 invoice. I make way more than that by posting a 20 second tik tok, and I spend way more than that in 5 minutes on a round of drinks for friends. It's not the price, it's the principle. Healthcare is about more than diagnoses and referrals. It is also about communication, respect, and patient advocacy. In my experience, those areas were severely lacking here. I have since transferred my care to another physician and have received a level of attentiveness, kindness, and professionalism that confirms my concerns about my experience at this practice. Based on my experience, I will absolutely not recommend this office. For the record, Jen is nice and caring.. she doesn't belong there.
