One STAR is ONE too MANY ! YOU TRICK your customers...up their bill by $30 a mo. for NO reason, then when you call them to ask why/complain, you are told they will lower your bill to what it Was (which was already high..$180 in our case) and they tell you if you switch to Fibre Optic connection, they will add 5 channels and lower your bill back to where it was. We did that, only to find the "newer fibre technology" is AWFUL... it wiped out all the 30 shows we had recorded on the DVR yet we were told it would remain there ( my husband had several basketball games he wanted to watch...we are seniors who do not get out much and TV is our big entertainment!) Then, The DVR (in the useless "Cloud") only records about 15 hrs worth of recorded shows, whereas we used to have 30 shows or more recorded, all in date order too.) WE recorded 5 programs and the DVR thing said "your dvr is now 44% full!) Then, you cannot Fast Forward, rewind or Pause with this either!) To get to special features like "captions" (read what they are saying often these actors mumble!) You have to go thru about 8 steps to get there and do it for every individual show you wish to watch) I was in tears when we switched over but thought, "oh well, the tech told us we can revert back to coaxial cable if we want" So I called the next day, told the main office how we want our old equipment (coaxial cable) back, and they said "no, there's no going back once you have Fibre Optic) So they lied to us 3 times now! I will be filing a complaint with the FCC.gov, there's an easy on line form to fill out...it's bait and switch tactics they use as I hear the newer Fibre Optics is CHEAPER For THEM to put out there, not cheaper for us, and it's far more problematic, and has LESS DVR capabilities. It is AWFUL Do not fall for the bait and switch as we did, you will lose all of your recorded DVR's shows. The office outright lied to us. So Monday I am calling the office, telling them they MUST reinstall our older equipment, coaxial cable with samsung box...and if the won't do that (and they are trained to tell you NO!) well then we go to Verizon, who I hear still gives you a choice between the coaxial cable, older (better) technology, or the newfangled, problemsome "Fibre Optic" in the cloud BS which Stinks on ICE. Don't fall for it, as we did. I will also alert the Ic3.gov, and company that advertises on the internet, you can report a company to for false advertising (we were clearly LIED to 3 times) , and while they upped all of our bills, forcing us to switch (especially seniors on a fixed income) they target Seniors with this Bait and Switch, and so I am reporting them to the Ic3.gov (an arm of the FBI looks into false advertising and white collar crime) and The Federal Communication Commission (FCC) who governs Cable companies...what they did to us, in my opinion was unethical to put it MILDLY. read more

Stop deceiving your customers. Optimum is fraudulent! I called Optimum to complain about the slow speed I was receiving. I was suppose to have 500mbps and the multiple speed tests I performed rendered an average of 57mpps. All I wanted was to receive the faster internet service as promised. This is where the "bait and switch" tactic began and the lies began. I was told that I could get faster service by switching to their new fiber network for $182 a month with more channels. Otherwise my bill would increase to over $230 a month beginning next month! Everyone seems to have fallen for this deception as complaints flood the internet with people like myself who have been hoodwinked! This new service is unnavigable, especially for older folks like myself and the new DVR only holds about 25 or 30 minutes instead of the 100+ minutes I had before. And the promise 2G speed is another farce. I'm getting an average of only 250mbps doing speed tests. In addition to that, fast forwarding and/or rewind is inaccessible in most cases and you cannot avoid the commercials. The problems with this new system are manifold and trying to navigate it is a nightmare! Totally and completely ridiculous! After being told initially that I could switch back if I wasn't satisfied, I'm now being told that I cannot switch back (another lie)! I want my old coax system with the Samsung box back. If not I will join forces with the myriad of folks on social media who, like myself, feel as I do and warn people not to be taken advantage of by this "bait & switch" tactic. Optimum ought to be ashamed!!! I will be contacting the FCC and lodging an official complaint and encourage others to do likewise. this week i lost my dvr service and couldn't record any programs and couldn't watch programs i already recorded. after spending over one hour on the chat box with optimum they got my dvr working again. most of the time spent was waiting for them to check different things out and them trying to ungrade me to fiber. also when they got the dvr working i lost all my recorded programs some going back 10 years or more. the same week my other cable box lost all power and again spending almost one hour they told me they would order me a new cable box and it would come in three to five days. today i received from optimum a stream tool not a cable box. i took my box and exchanged for a replacement box.good luck dealing with optimum. read more

A dinosaur that should be a fossil! If you tried to make the worst remote, you'd make the optimum remote. It has three times the number of buttons it needs. One would think that the redundancy would help. You'd be wrong. To make it work it MUST sit pointing directly at the box, a couple of inches in any other direction and you'd be pressing button to no avail. When you get it to work you have to pray it will accept the next function. The service okay when it works, but that is a crapshoot. No guarantee that even news 12 will come up. So why do I pay for this horrible service? My 90 year old mom cannot understand how to use the apps. She can only use what she is used to. This Optimum is woefully understaffed. Seeing as Optimum stores seem to be few and far between, it was no wonder there was a steady flow of people waiting to be helped. It irked me that the store was equipped with eight work stations, yet only two employees were present (apart from the one directing traffic at the door). I had gone in to return a router, which took only about 3 minutes to process once it was my turn; however, I was waiting in line for half an hour before that. I wish they had a more streamlined procedure for anyone just planning to drop off equipment. OPTIMUM ONLINE. Never use this service for Internet or TV. Every phone call is a 2 hour minimum wait time. When they finally answer customer service can provide no details as to when service will be restored. The answer ,"We are working on it". In February had no service for 13 days. Oh and the best is if you want to eliminate service you need to go PICK UP a return tag for equiptment and then go and DROP OFF equiptment. If you want CREDIT for those days of outage YOU WILL NEED TO CALL BACK AND REQUEST AND SPEND ANOTHER 2 HOURS ON HOLD and tell them how many days you had no service. Obviously they need some basic math courses since they should know when the service went down and when it was restored. What is your definition of CUSTOMER SERVICE? Apr 2020, optimum tech fails to call or even show up for initial set up service. Optimum happily reschedules but offered nothing in the way of an apology or compensation for rearranging my day so I could sit home from 10 am to 8 pm. Sept 2020, optimum router ceases to detect internet connection, went through the usual troubleshooting with a representative reading tips on cue cards before they offer to send a technician out. I am then informed that there is an $80 service fee UNLESS it is outside wiring or equipment related and a tech WILL be at my home that day between 10 am and 8 pm. 9/23 the day the tech is scheduled to arrive. 4:30 I check out the status of the service call and read the tech will be calling me shortly as I am the next stop. 5:30 rolls around and no call an no tech. I contact support and am told they'll be here after 6:30. 7:30 comes around and no tech and no call again. So I contact support again, only to be told that there is still 30 minutes left in my ALL DAY window, but if I would like to reschedule, Jam O. would be happy to do so. While on chat with Jam, I get a call from Optimum infoming me that no tech is available today. 2 failed appointments within 5 months, I am done with Optimum. Come get your P.O.S. router and DO NOT have your customer retention department call me at all. My line of work deals with logistics and scheduling stops for customers needing installation of merchandise and we give them a 2 hour window, why is that so difficult for Optimum to do? Dont get fooled into their offers to get you to switch. The sales rep offered 1 month free trial and one month free service as well as gift cards. None of these offers ever happened. I called several times to air my frustrations and each time the customer service rep said that they would escalate to a supervisor and I never got any calls. In addition the product is pretty bad The system constantly reboots for updates of course when your in the middle of watching a movie. If you have another option I would suggest going with it. Daily interruptions in service are very common. Getting someone helpful on the phone is next to impossible. And forget about trying to cancel your service in an easy way. They will not let you cancel service online and if you are moving out of state they make it difficult causing you to pay for service after you have moved. I just got hit with an extra month of service when we were already moved and paying for service elsewhere. When the price of my Optimum bill kept going up I called to try to see about specials and they basically told me they did not care if I took my business elsewhere.......However, when I actually canceled the service I was offered a rate of almost half of what we were paying. They get you in on a special rate but that rate does not last long and they are priced higher than Verizon Fios. I have NEVER had a pleasant experience dealing with their customer service over the 4 years I was a customer and have always been frustrated when calling in. Even finding their phone number on their website can be tricky. I am grateful that I no longer have to deal with Optimum. Their customer service leaves a lot to be desired! read more

Hey Optimum, yah know at first I was recommending your service. The price was good the service was okay, but our time has come to an end. On December 22nd I was charged twice and as soon as I noticed I called, the representative said it would be 3-5 days. Now with Christmas I figured it would be a bit longer, December 30th still no credit returned. So I pick up my handy dandy cell phone and call back, and was told that nope they can not return but to go down to the office. I proceed to go to the location on 109 and waited on a 30 minute line to be told nope sorry we cant do that here, call this number. I went to my car and called and the guy was like yup we see the return in process but you have to wait 7-10 days not 3-5. Cool whatever its processing January 3rd nothing January 4th nothing Finally January 6th (today) I call again and my credit is no longer there although it was in processing to be returned. The representative "Kevin" said AND I QUOTE "if it hasn't been resolved in a month, what makes you think I'll be able to do it today". And then he goes "maybe they assumed you wanted it to go towards your next bill" No "Kevin" they did NOT assume because as 3 calls and going to the office IT WAS IN THE SYSTEM to be returned. I am beyond fed up with your terrible service making me run circles with representatives that CAN NOT answer any questions but instead just put you on hold. I am BEYOND FED UP with having to wait 3 weeks for MY MONEY to be returned. You took it out of my account so easily now put it back. Incredibly disappointed in your service. If I could give this store zero stars, I would. I moved to another house right before the pandemic caused stores to close. Technician that installed my new equipment at my new house forgot to take the equipment from my old house but by the time I wanted to return it, optimum stores were closed. Now that this store is open (closest store to my house) I went in to try to return my equipment but to my surprise, employees are outside pretending to help with customers but there is absolutely nothing they can do for you. I was told to go to fedex to return my equipment. I requested to speak to a manager and ended getting yelled at by not one of their employees but two of their employees. They refused to even pretend to help me out. When you ask to speak to a manager or someone in charge the flat out say NO. CORRECTION, they scream at you for demanding any resemblance of customer service from them. Just to make it clear, I am very reasonable when spoken to with dignity and all I was seeking was answers, no merely to get my way. I'm not suggesting that Verizon is any better. I am saying that this optimum store treats you like second class citizens. They demonstrate an attitude of superiority and treat you as if they are doing you a favor. I had a scheduled appointment on Saturday February 6th 11-2, I readhad some of the other reviews and if I hadn't experienced it myself I wouldn't have believed it. I have been blatantly lied to by a a supervisor at that. They pass the buck, I have been waiting for a technician since I made the appointment last Wednesday. I have talked to Tasha, Ian, Akmed two Akmeds , and a Jasmine. They lie and I will be returning there equipment I have been a customer Since they were cablevision and obviously my loyalty was not respected or appreciated as they say. I will be getting WiFi seduce elsewhere and will buy firesticks from here on out. I worked in customer service for years, when the supervisor lies you know the company is garbage. There was no resolution, they couldn't tell me why the technician for Saturday never showed, or what happens to Sunday, and they were back to trying to make me wait another four days, Supervis or this last call refused to come to the phone. Two solid months of calls, chats & emails trying to get my Internet data usage ( & price) reduced....Nothing! Horrible service & yet they keep calling me to sell me new packages but that person can't reduce my service. Firstly, I am a licensed Private Investigator and one facet of my job was to go into places of business and write a report of my experience. Today I was retuning equipment, now let me digress. I joined optimum in September when I moved to Long Island (I was told this was my only option). From the beginning there were issues with the internet going out for up to 20 minutes at lease 5 xs a day. I reported it. I was told to reboot, I was told there were servers down. I called the next day to have some come out and check the wiring. They did not bring a truck that could check the poles. They said the would send someone back. The following visit they came and said it was not hooked up right. The wifi was still not working. During this period my WIFI was going out regularly. Another visit I made sure I stayed home, I have 2 Pitbulls a ring door bell and a cell phone. They did not show up. I was told the next time they were available was in 3 days. I spoke to a supervisor and they said the would make an emergency visit the following day but I had to be available in the home for 8-8 (wait the drama is coming). They did not show up. They told me to bring my equipment to the Lindenhurst store located on 109. I waited an hour in line. I received new equipment set it up at home and ....it still did not work. Its coming wait for it....I called verizon they were here the next day and I haven't had a problem since. I should probably mention I am a day trader so I have lost thousands when the wifi would go out with optimum. I called and told them I switched to verizon and I would like to have them pick up the equipment. Once again I was told from 8-8 I had to be home, they never showed...Here comes the good part. I waited till saturday to bring my equipment to the store on 109 in Lindenhurst, Long Island there was a huge line all the way to the door. I saw someone walk away from an employee a (Male, Hispanic, in his 20's a little overweight his hair was shaved on the sides and bottoms and had a pony tail on top. (yes that look)I handed him the equipment, he aggressively pushed the equipment aside and asked for the next customer. The Hispanic male told me to get in the back of the line. I said would you like me to tell everyone in line my optimum my experience and now I am a Fios customer, I started to tell my story and within a few minutes some woman took my equipment but would not give me a receipt. The hispanic man stated cursing so I started to take video, he grabbed my hand along with the phone and I think its sprained.I called the police. An (African American, 40s, 5'6", 185 lbs, Big wig and ALOT of makeup) Told me to get "the F out of her store" I called 911 I wanted my receipt and I was going to press charges against the Hispanic male. That's my Optimum experience. I had Fios before for 5 years, never a problem, I have them now no problem...Oh yeah I should also say on another call to customer service, I should have my computer 10' from the router.
