I was shopping here with my daughter-in-law and my 1-year-old grandson, doing some early Christmas shopping. We had about $200 worth of toys picked out and were heading to the register. Like most grandparents trying to survive a shopping trip with a toddler, I handed my grandson a cheap little $6 jump rope in a box to keep him occupied. Apparently, this was my first mistake. When I got to checkout, the employee informed me that I was required to purchase the jump rope because my 1-year-old had put it in his mouth. I was stunned. In all my years of shopping, I have never encountered such an absurd and unreasonable demand. The item was boxed, undamaged, and perfectly sellable. Yet I was treated as though my toddler had somehow rendered it unusable. What happened next was even worse. When I questioned the policy, another employee with purple hair inserted herself into the conversation with a shockingly hostile attitude. Rather than calmly explaining the situation, she was confrontational, dismissive, and unnecessarily rude. Her behavior was completely unprofessional and reflected terribly on the store. Customer-facing employees should know how to speak to people respectfully, especially when dealing with a reasonable question from a paying customer. If this is truly store policy, then management should make it clearly visible instead of allowing employees to spring it on customers at checkout. More importantly, management should seriously address how these employees interact with customers. Their conduct was unacceptable and deserves immediate attention. No customer should be spoken to in the manner I was. I paid for the jump rope simply because I wanted to end the unpleasant interaction, and then I put back the approximately $200 worth of toys I had intended to purchase. After being treated so poorly, there was no chance I was rewarding that behavior with additional business. What bothered me most was not the six dollars. It was the appalling customer service. I have shopped here many times before and have always had positive experiences. This encounter was completely different. The employees involved were rude, aggressive, and seemed far more interested in creating conflict than helping a customer. I sincerely hope management reviews this incident and reprimands the employees involved. Their behavior was unacceptable, damaging to the store's reputation, and ultimately cost the business a loyal customer and hundreds of dollars in sales. I hope the $6 jump rope was worth them losing a $200 sale and all other future sales. I will be taking my business elsewhere. I will not be returning, and I would strongly caution others to expect better treatment elsewhere. No wonder this business only has 2 1/2 stars . I don't usually write reviews, and I've never even used Yelp before this, but the service and atmosphere at the Optimus Toys in Victoria Gardens was exceptionally horrible. I wanted to pick up a birthday gift for my girlfriend, and knowing she loves hello kitty I decided to stop by at Optimus Toys after hitting the gym as it was the closest toy store. Little did I know, I was about to have a toy store experience from hell. Upon entering the store, the employees immediately stared me down. The bearded man with black hair and glasses and the woman who I believe had straight red and black hair started whispering to each other while keeping eye contact with me. When I started to walk around I heard the male employee say "Its getting away!" as he began to follow me. When I asked him if I was "it" he remained silent. He wouldn't stop following me, and if I went to touch something he would immediately tell me to stop. Even when I just got close to look at something he would tell me to stop touching it. I know I'm a man of larger stature, and I'm no stranger to racial profiling, but this was by far the most dehumanizing experience of my life. As I walked through the store I spotted multiple roaches on the ground and noticed debris and dust on many items. At this point I just wanted to leave, so I picked up a few hello kitty items, but every time I did the employee would grab the item from me, sternly saying he would hold it for me. The whole time I could see the female employee closely looking at a screen, most likely watching the cameras. When I got to the cash register the employees started whispering to each other again, and the woman gave me a weird look. She kept making comments and laughing because I was buying hello kitty items, saying "That's a weird choice", almost like she was making fun of me. She rang up the items and the screen said $75, which was already extremely overpriced for 3 small hello kitty items, but the woman insisted the total was $97. I hesitantly paid and the woman harshly stuffed the items in the bag, handing it to me without saying a word. As I reached for the door I thought my hell was finally over; I could go home and never step foot in Optimus Toys again, but no, the male employee stopped me. He said I couldn't leave until he searched my gym bag, despite him following me around the store the entire time. He kept insisting like it was mandatory and I kept telling him no. I'm not a criminal, so I don't know why I was being treated like I'm on a wanted poster. Eventually he accepted I wasn't going to let him search my bag and I managed to escape the toy store from hell. Please don't learn the hard way like I did and avoid Optimus Toys at Victoria Gardens at all costs. I wasn't going to say anything, but I think it's better said. Sunday morning 03/09/25, came in, asked if a product was available. Guy with black hair, glasses was working with a younger gentleman with lighter hair (younger gentleman was taller, skinny). Guy with black hair answers "no, anything else?" And just stands there with a blank stare at me, like I was doing something wrong, and he wanted me to leave immediately. It was the manner in which he immediately expressed his body language and tone that was off-putting. I literally haven't gone into this store since maybe Dec 2024? Even then, I probably avg going here maybe 3x per year, if that. After the interaction, I started to think he thought I was a reseller or something. The vibe was cold, and it's as if he wanted me to leave the store. The only reason I'm saying this is because I've never had an interaction like this in public, in a public store, in a store setting scenario until this morning. I really don't know if he's the manager or whatever his deal was, but the moment he looked at me, it's clear he had his mind made up for whatever reason he had. He was wearing a black shirt/maybe long sleeve button up if I recall. But he definitely wore glasses. Hopefully other customers have a much more delightful experience that is opposite of the one I had. read more

I've passed by this store so so many times and never stepped foot in here. Today I decided to just walk in. It is very crowded but that's awesome because they have soooooo many choices for toys!!! I mean as a kid, I'd go nuts!! As an adult, I kinda have a bit of OCD and don't want anything touching me as I'm viewing the merchandise. Variety!! Wow. I just wanted to take a gander and I fell in love with their wallets and backpacks!!! I will definitely be coming back!!! Prices are very reasonable. Customer service was wonderful from the owner. The young girl working the floor and counter wasn't too involved. I think she was zoned out for a second while I was trying to talk to her. All in all, I will return for the wallets and backpacks. Today I purchased a pokemon tin that is suppose to come with 5 packs and only came with 3. I went back to the store to ask for refund or phone number I can call or explain my problem and the guy was unable to give me any information after talking to his manager. I called again when I was home asking to speak directly with the manager and the man on the phone asked me to wait and didn't put me on hold. I heard their whole conversation!!! The manager was yelling at his employee saying to tell me that he was the boss and that they can't help me and it wasn't their problem! I feel for the employee because the way the manager/boss was talking about me and to his employee was completely unprofessional and I will never shop here again! Store looked bright and colorful. Toy selection was great and I found a lot of hidden gems. The reason my review stars are so low is because of the pricing. They mark up their items 3-7 times their actual value from something as small as pokemon cards to something bigger like a lego set. I left empty handed because I realized I could buy everything they sold there way cheaper online or at target. Place is really only good for looking and holding potential items that you may or may not want to buy; basically window shopping and taking notes on the stuff you want so you can get it from somewhere else later. read more

This little store is perfect for kids of all ages. As a Christmas request, my niece asked for some Ugly Dolls. My wife and I had no clue what an Ugly Doll looked like until we went into this toy store. To answer your question the dolls are pretty ugly but cute at the same time, I guess? This store, while better in the past, has now been tainted to myself by the recent practices by the owners and management of the establishment. Recently, upon walking into the store, I was immediately faced with an argument between the owner and one of his employees. He yelled at, belittled, and gaslighted them, all while refusing to allow them a single word in the conversation. He brought them to tears in front of a store of customers. Even further, during a previous visit, the owner's wife was staring me down as soon as I entered the store. The entire time, she glared in my direction, often leaning over the counter to get a better view of me. There were several other customers in the store at that time, and she only looked at me as I looked through the different collections. On top of this, their prices have only gotten worse over the years. When comparing both the prices of retail and original website sources, I found their prices to be marked up from anywhere form 20-50%. While this is small with lower priced items, such as Pokémon Cards, the Kirby plushies now cost over $80 when you can find them online for $60 with shipping and handling. Between the owners' disrespect towards their employees, as well as their customers, and the rise in pricing, this is no longer a business I wish to support. read more

I should have read the reviews before I go to this store. The reviews are right. Had a bad experience with this store. They are very overpriced. $23 for a small hello kitty stuffed toy. They don't even inform you that plush toys can't be returned. The sales girl called the manager and said that the plastic cover was open when in fact, she was the one who opened it because I saw her inspecting the item. Never opened and removed the item from the bag after I bought it. Learned my lesson never to go there again. They don't even deserve the 1 star. read more
