Staff was not very friendly to patients but the delivery guys had all the focus and conversation. They also did not take the time to check my insurance properly and kept asking the reason for my via after receptive with the same excuse that should have been my warning to not go. Turns out they never verified my vision insurance they were solely focused on me paying out of pocket because my medical insurance was out of network of course it's my medical and I have separate vision plan. Do not go here I would not recommend this office to no one just talked to a family about my experience and she too said she had a bad feeling walking into the same office and they took her through a lot just not to see her. Made an appointment with Vision Republic and she found my Infiniti in less than five minutes while taking to me on the phone. Moral of the story don't spend where you don't feel welcome or wanted. Went in calm and quite walked the same and told her I will take my business somewhere else. read more

We had such a positive experience at this office, from the moment we stepped in until we left. Dr. Castaneda is so talented and very kind. She answered all my questions and is very personable. The staff assisting are professional, friendly and very helpful. I asked for assistance finding some Cat Eye lenses, and the young lady went to the back and found about 10 pairs that I loved! The explanation of services and costs was excellent by a different staff member. I will definitely be returning. 5/5 stars and such a wonderful experience!!! read more

Not one to usually write reviews especially negative ones. I just hope that that no one goes through what I did. I scheduled an appointment to take my two children to get their yearly eye exam. Everything honestly went smoothly during the exam until it was over. The optometrist (Lorena C.) told me that my daughters vision was very poor and told me that she would have to wear her glasses at all times. When the appointment was over they took me over to the side where you can pick out the frames. One of her front desk ladies assisted me and basically told me that with my daughters prescription it would be best for me to pay out of pocket over $200 so that she wouldn't have super thick lenses... I felt like I was getting up charged so I left and said respectfully I will go to another place to find frames and just asked for my children's prescriptions. I did indeed go to another optometrist who then informed me that my daughter had actually almost perfect vision and that there was really no need for her to have glasses... I was disgusted when I thought back at how they were trying to have me pay out of my insurance for something that my daughter didn't even need. The optometrist (Lorena) made me feel like a horrible mother for having my daughter without glasses. Not sure if it's a cultural thing but the way that she spoke to me made me very uncomfortable. Especially to find out that it wasn't even true. I do not recommend this place. There are far better optometrist than this trash location!! read more

I had a great first experience today with my nephew Angel! I usually get referred about 2-3 times with Angel before any doctor is willing to take him in because they just do not want to deal with his behavior. Angel is a special needs, non-verbal 7 year old with hydrocephalus and he is quite a handful. Berkeley Eye Center in Katy was one of these situations. They referred me to a doctor who could not see him until 5 months out. I searched for other options and found this office. Angel was his usual difficult self but Dr. Laura was super patient with him and we got his prescription in! I really thought I was going to get the usual "we cannot work with him, you should go somewhere else" but I did not. Look forward to our next annual exam and new glasses in a week. I had a great experience at Optomedica Eye Consultants in Katy! I easily got an appointment and was seen immediately upon arrival. Dr. Castaneda didn't make me wait for more than 5 minutes after doing the preliminary stuff (eye puff thing and look at the barn thing) with the optician. She did a comprehensive exam on me as it was my first time there. Everything was quick, and I had a feeling that she'd been doing this for a long time. Turns out she has practiced over the past 14 years with both ophthalmologic and optometric practices giving her extensive experience with both fields! My contacts needed to be ordered and was called when they were in. Popped in, got them, and walked right on out! 2 minutes tops! I appreciate an office that values my time as a patient. Everything was quick but not rushed, and the staff is wonderful they asked if I needed water and they were able to answer all my questions. I recommend this office to anybody in the Katy area. read more

I went for a follow up and I was informed there will be no co pay but few weeks later, I got a call saying they made a mistake and had a technical issue regarding the system with the insurance so they wanted me to retro pay them. I decided to make the payment but cancel all my services. No apologies from what so ever. During our call that day, she asked for my email address to send a receipt. I asked the lady to repeat the email address back, after a long pause, she says she couldn't repeat the email because it doesn't give any confirmation but few secs later, "some how" she finds the email and when she repeated, she sent it to the wrong address with my payment information. Which this can lead to a HIPAA violation, depends what kind of information on the receipt. Very unprofessional! read more

My husband and I have Family Doctor (for past 12 years) in same Center of Eye Office. After my annual Dr. appt last Saturday, I walked into Eye Office (opened approx 1 year) to request appt to have my 'Dry Eye" examined. I informed Front Desk told her I'm new patient, she asked for my Medical Insurance card (made copy) and told her I had VSP for Vision. Scheduled appt for 1 week later . Today 1pm, I went into office, asked again for my Medical Insurance card and ID, completed new patient docs. Waiting 10 minutes, then told that they did not check Medical benefits, because Insurance Company closed, unable to confirm benefits, I told them, benefits found online. Told they they require 'an Approval', so would not be able to see me today. I was FURIOUS and told them they were incompetent, discourteous, disrespectful of customer/patient services, and had all week , not good impression for new patient. They had even confirmed my appt 2 days prior. The 2 girls at desk apologized for insurance oversight. Asked if I'd like reschedule. Needless to say, you can imagine my answer and walked out. I told my husband of my experience and he reminded me that was the same location when 1 year ago, when they newly opened, he scheduled appt., got off work early, showed up and told ONLY then that Dr. was NOT in that day. My husband was also UPSET. He had hoped they had gotten their staff together by now.. I highly encourage others to think TWICE, THREE times before selecting this facility. Yet medical office have the audacity to charge patient if NO show or LATE. Hope the Dr(s) read and take Front End incompetency seriously "effecting their dollars and new patient base". LOST 2 PATIENTS. TAKING OUR EYESIGHT ELSEWHERE. read more

I have been wearing glasses for over twenty years and I'm only twenty eight. I have a very strong prescription that includes astigmatism and progression. I had been to another optometrist and we had several trials of glasses but we couldn't seem to get my prescriptions right. After weeks of headaches I found Dr. Castaneda I explained my needs to her and she immediately knew what I required I was in her office for over an hour but she was patient and thorough and ensured everything was right.
