Today I had an oral surgery done at this location. The nurses were extremely calm & professional, ensuring I would calm down & lower my blood pressure! They were so skilled in giving the numbing shots that I was able to breathe & relax. The office personnel also went through a lot to make sure my insurance paid the larger portion. I had oral surgery three months ago at the Liberty office, which has been one of the worst experiences in my life. Under general anesthesia, I could hear what sounded like a party going on in my room while my head was being tossed roughly from side to side. After surgery, I developed an infection, which required three rounds of antibiotics to clear up, which led to signficant gastrointestinal issues that have taken weeks to resolve. Yesterday, I learned that my bone graft has failed, meaning all my discomfort and financial expense has been for nothing. Had any staff taken the time to explain the risks associated with bone grafting, I would have never done the procedure. I would highly recommend taking your business elsewhere. read more

I was referred here in September for consultation on a complicated root canal. Walked in to the office for my appointment and was met with icy stares from the two receptionists. Apparently my custom is an inconvenience for them. I get back to the examination room - no dental chair in sight, just an armchair backed into the corner of the room. When the doctor comes in, he looms over me as I'm forced to crane my neck upward at a very uncomfortable position, apparently so he doesn't have to be inconvenienced by leaning over to peer into my mouth. His examination consisted of hitting the tooth (the one with the partially completed root canal) with a small hammer, then telling me he didn't know what I wanted him to do, but he could pull the tooth if I wanted. I said no thanks and left. I when I got to the counter, the receptionist wanted $98 for the exam. I said that my insurance should be billed, and she told me that they don't normally do that. I replied that since it was a referral, my insurance would pay them if they would just submit the bill. She huffily agreed to do so, but felt it appropriate to loudly announce that she wanted me to know that I was responsible for the bill. I told her I understood, and that I would ensure my insurance compensated them correctly. Fast forward to this week. Having heard nothing from them since September, I had concluded that the insurance company had taken care of it, but received a bill from Oral Surgery for $98.99 earlier this week. This was my first notification that they had not been paid by the insurance company. The bill stated that the extra $.99 was a service charge for being late, and indicated that they had submitted the bill to the (wrong) insurance company. The bill also included a stern letter implying that I was dodging the payment of the bill, despite the fact that this was the first letter they had sent on that subject. Figuring that I'd just get them off my back and make the claim directly, I cut OS an electronic payment for the total. Despite the fact that I paid them a week ago, and despite the fact that consumers are entitled to a reasonable period of time (normally 30 days) to pay the bill, they are now calling me on the phone for payment. All this combines to make me determined to never set foot in their establishment again. The unwelcome attitude, the lack of concern for their patients, and their unwillingness to do the things that every other medical and dental facility I've experienced does, all make this a seriously poor place to get oral care. I strongly recommend you avoid this place like the plague - which should be pretty easy, seeing that they treat you like you have it. read more

The staff answering phones are terrible. Condescending and they growl and laugh at your questions and complaints. They also downplay your pain. Have no problem solving skills. Lie about yelling at them. No people skills. Drs seem too busy and annoyed. I will never receive care again after this. Maybe they treat medicaid patients this way. Updated (8/11/13): My original review (below) was written roughly one year ago. Seven months after it was posted, I received a message from one of the doctors. Based on our conversation, I changed the rating from one stars to three. The "upgrade" is based on his promises of change and not any in-person visit. The first message said that Oral Surgery Plus "[has] done everything in [their] power to improve [their] office function". I responded that the message lacked substance because, on the one hand, I'm told my review affects their business but their rationale for requesting that I delete that message was based on the age of the review (which users can take into account) and promises of change without additional information. I said I'm open to updating the review and I asked for specific examples. I was given two (possibly three): 1. "we have changed front-office staff members and..." 2. "...we have stream-lined many of our protocols" 3. Additionally, I inferred that the doctor was making the argument that the review should be modified or removed because Oral Surgery Plus provides healthcare to the "indigent" and my review was hurting this effort. In the two messages I received from the doctor, I did receive a single apology; unfortunately, it was not what I expected. He said, "I'm sorry that after not even having your surgery done by us, you still wish to leave your review in place." The reason I'm updating this review is because I think the effects of Yelp can be unfair (even though I believe that my review in itself is completely fair). Yelp is filtering the 11 positive reviews that their office has received which means they don't affect their rating. I know Yelp's algorithms are complex but taking a quick look at those that are filtered provides insight: All of the users writing reviews (except one) have only written three or less reviews on Yelp. Five of them have written only one review on Yelp and, needless to say, those reviews were for Oral Surgery Plus. Going out on a limb, I'm willing to bet that Yelp has pegged the reviews as not being high quality but, rather, an explicit attempt by Oral Surgery Plus to increase their rating. All that said, my review was based on a single person who was the front office woman. When looking for an oral surgeon, the quality of care is 100x more important than any other aspect. Furthermore, I've been promised that changes have been made. I think Oral Surgery Plus could have handled their response in a better way but the fact that they tried to address the issues says they they listen to customers (granted, in their own words, their business was hurting). I don't usually write one star reviews (I've only written three) but a typical response from a business is an invitation to return so they can showcase their changes. If I had received an invitation to return, or... ***...had the response been more about my experience and less about the way my review is affecting their business, I probably would have deleted the review altogether.*** Original Review: The day of my appointment to remove my wisdom teeth, I arrived at Oral Surgery Plus and started completing all the paperwork that I was given at check-in. Filling out the forms, I had a few small questions that I asked to the lady at the front desk. With each answer, she'd look up, stare at me, pause for 10 seconds, then proceed to answer in a monotone voice that made me feel as if I was the dumbest person to ever enter that office. The lady eventually asked which drug store I would like to pick up my pain medication. Not familiar with medical procedures or medication, I told her any drug store would be perfect. I didn't realize they have the option to call in the order instead of relying on written prescriptions (I obviously never get prescriptions) but she was incredibly annoyed by my response. After explaining what she meant in a rude and demeaning way (in a waiting room full of people quiet enough to hear her teeth clench), I was finally done. I asked how much they charge for cancelled appointments. She said the fee is $100 but rarely applied. I told her I was cancelling my appointment and promptly left. I met with one of the doctors for my initial appointment and he was very friendly and competent. Unfortunately, the front desk is the face of a company and I won't give thousands of dollars to any business that doesn't have the sense to hire someone with a smile. read more

I was referred here for my daughter's surgery, but during the process of scheduling I was met with quite a bit of negativity from the person answering the phone and scheduling. She laughed a few different times as well as used sarcastic remarks towards me. This broke my trust in this company to be able to continue moving forward with the surgery. I had three wisdom teeth to be removed, and I am not one who does well with any dental work, so naturally, I was freaked out. The staff was very friendly, the nurse was great and comforting. I was in and out of there in 30 minutes with minimal pain after that I could control with Tylenol. It seems like everyone has horror stories of getting their wisdom teeth pulled, but my experience was a walk in the park. It is also great that they accept CareCredit and have the plan for 0% for 6months for accounts under $1000. read more

So, I crushed one of my top front teeth in 2011 getting hit in the mouth with a part of the suspension of a car while helping a friend (safety first). Needed an implant back then. Couldn't afford it. Saved up some money and finally went to see Dr. Sautter around 4/2013 about getting an implant placed. Throughout my whole experience, everyone at Oral Surgery Plus has been so nice and accommodating. I am currently an anesthesia resident and have a crazy and difficult schedule. They have been so easy to work with and flexible. I've been to both the North and Valley offices and they're all like family. Comfortable and happy. Every one of them are willing to do whatever it takes so that you can have the best result. Dr. Sautter is the really the nicest guy and obvious an accomplished surgeon. My surgery went so smoothly and they made it easy for me to schedule it on my day off and I had no trouble going back to work the next day. Insurance stuff was very easy and there were no surprises in the cost (it was actually a lot cheaper than I had expected). They financial lady I spoke with was excellent and knew all the information and answered all my questions. I would recommend Dr. Sautter and his team at Oral Surgery Plus to anyone. As a physician, I need to present a professional image to gain trust and confidence from my patients (especially just before taking them to surgery). Dr. Sautter is making that possible for me. Unfortunately my implant isn't finished quite yet, as I've needed some bone graft and more healing time, but I'll plan to post the final photo when it's all said and done. read more

4/9/2013 My son recently had his 3rd molars out at Oral Surgery Plus. During the consult the doctor informed us that one of the molars was very close to the nerve on the lower jaw. The doctor felt confident that it wouldn't be a concern and it was something that he needed to let us know. After the surgery everything went as it should have, minimal swelling and very little discomfort, if any. I really feel like the doctor was very gentle in the way he removed the teeth. Likewise, my son said, "the nurse that got me numb was awesome, I didn't feel a thing!" I would highly recommend them! read more

I had the misfortune of breaking a lower tooth off that could not be saved. My dentist suggested Oral Plus for an implant. I was scheduled with Dr. Neil Curtis on the North side of Spokane. It is quite a long process and took about a year to complete. The entire staff were so accommodating and professional. I actually don't like dentist work but they kept me calm and confident through all of the procedures!! Sadly, only 3% of implants fail and I happen to have been among those that failed after over 3 yrs as my body rejected the artificial grafting. Dr. Curtis hopped right to it and we are trying again. Soon I will have that beautiful smile we all strive for. Lacy, the Assistant is as cute and sweet as Apple pie!! I am happy to recommend this office to all and know I soon will be able to continue my passion of fishing for the next giant steelhead!! Oral surgery plus IS NOT A CHILD FRIENDLY PRACTICE!!! Recently my son, who is 8, had teeth removed in the Nevada office. We are not strangers to the surgical world as he has been under general sedation over 30 times in his life. The dentist at the consult appointment tried telling me my child was too well informed as to the state of his own medical condition. That I shouldn't be so quick to give him the real details because it's just too scary for a child. But went on to try and "ease his worry" by talking directly to my son rather than me for the remainder of the appointment. As you can imagine a doctor appointment led by an 8 year old was highly productive. I was then confused by what I'll call the bait and switch since the dr who conducted the consult and apparently called my sons specialist team to discuss the rarity of his condition was NOT the dr who later performed the surgery. So the question arose....how well prepared was the actual performing dr for my sons disability? Did he truly know what he was dealing with? I have serious serious doubts. As mentioned previously, my son typically wakes up from general groggy and confused, sometimes teary but never hysterical. The weekend prior to his appointment we spent time on the water and he was sunburned. I asked them if we should reschedule and they assured me it would be fine. The admitting nurse even made adjustments to the BP cuff to accommodate the fact his upper arm was burned and too sensitive to be routinely squeezed. When I was retrieved from the waiting room following his procedure I was informed that he had woken up hard and was currently crying. While it is typical for him to be a bit teary, it is NOT normal for him to be screaming. He was. He was absolutely hysterical. Screaming around a tightly packed mouth of gauze. The nurse tried telling me this was normal and should subside. I told her it was not normal and to get the hell out of the way. Once removing the blanket that was covering him I realized the BP cuff had been moved back up to his upper arm and was now routinely squeezing his highly burned arm. When I asked the nurse why it had been moved she said that was standard procedure with zero compassion or empathy. She also mentioned that she hadn't been aware that there was an issue since she hadn't spoken to the nurse who had done the intake. She went on to tell me it wasn't really something to be upset about as my baby was bawling in pain. Over the evening his arm swelled and blistered and cracked in a few places. I blame the incompeteance of the nursing staff fully. How on earth can you have a surgical practice where the admitting/attending nurse doesn't speak to the post surgical nurse?! This is not the place to bring your children. They may be fantastic at adult care but they are seriously lacking in the compassion necessary to care for children. Especially special needs children. They aren't little adults and you can't treat them like they are. You made a permanent memory of the dentist for my son who up until that day had never been fearful of the dentist. I am ashamed as a mother, that I brought my baby to you and you hurt him unnecessarily. I would welcome a conversation from anyone who cares within the practice. I would love to know my sons treatment would be a teaching moment for poorly educated nursing staff. You should be ashamed. read more

We had to wait longer than normal to see the doctor. It would have been nice if a receptionist had told us the wait would be long due to another emergency. read more

I am in my third year of procedures at Oral Surgery Plus. I knew nothing about them when I was referred by my regular dentist for a tooth extraction and ultimately an implant. I have no other oral surgeons or facilities to reference. My experiences with OSP have all been exceptional. I primarily use the valley facility, but I've also been to the north side. The facilities are clean and professional looking. The valley office was recently redecorated with and new desk/reception counter. It looks great. I feel comfortable, relaxed and welcomed when I walk in. The staff in both places are all top notch and genuine. Every visit to the valley, I feel like they have all taken the time to get to know me. When I go in, it's like visiting friends. My surgeon Dr. Curtis is no exception. His bedside manner is wonderful. He communicates clearly and I feel like he is able to adjust his tech level to meet the level of whomever he's talking to. Dr Curtis also goes above and beyond to ensure you are happy, satisfied, and comfortable with your procedure. Scheduling is convenient. Appointment reminders are personable -- it doesn't sound like someone is just trying to get through a call list to move on to another daily task. Pre- and post- procedure instructions are presented clearly, and I sense individually tailored. I've been to places where "the fine print" gets rattled off with a detached, robotic delivery but not at OSP. I feel like everyone at OSP cares about me and my oral health even more that I do! There's one star missing because of appointment times. I think I understand why: Follow ups are important and to be seen in a timely manner, they are probably squeezed in between actual procedure appointments, which may not always go as planned and sometimes can have slight delays which probably pushes the flexible appointments around. I do understand, but sometimes I've had a 5 minute check scheduled that I ended up sitting in the WR for up to a 1/2 hour before finally getting seen. However, this is not a deal breaker for me. If you are in need of oral surgery, looking for a recommendation, or alternate facility to your current provider, look no further. I highly recommend Oral Surgery Plus! read more

This is the second time I have had to have an oral surgery done. On both occasions the experience has been nothing short of phenomenal. The front staff is awesome, appointment making is done with a great attitude. My expense estimate was perfect right down to the penny. My appointment was kept perfectly on time and my nurse Theresa and my surgeon Dr. Isom were the best anyone could have hoped for. I needed some special attention and Theresa was there with a helpful smile and a great attitude and my Doctor had a great attitudes as well. I never even suffered any after pain, thats right my stiches are perfect and I have not even had to take an asprin or tylenol post surgery. Simply the best. read more

My kids liked the staff and dentist. What I didn't like is they quoted me a total of 525 combined for both children. After paying the estimated, I received a bill for an additional eleven hundred dollars a child or combined 2200. They really couldn't explain why. I went in for a apico on the left lower back tooth which already had a crown and root canal(3000)dollars.this procedure was 800 more.the surgery was as good as it was going to be,immediately I noticed a bump sticking out,the doctor said it would go away after a while.so I called them 6 months later cause it didn't go away,another year went by so they reluctantly had me back in where the assistant told me that I would have to get the tooth pulled if I pushed it.still have the bump sticking out of the side(guess its infection)couldn't get any more antibiotics either.should have just got it pulled,it still bothers me.I don't think apicos work,very unhappy! read more

I had my wisdom teeth pulled and expected pain the following week and wasn't disappointed. That next friday after waiting in the back room for over 30 minutes the doctor said that my jaw clenching was causing me pain and said he would call in prescriptions to my pharmacy to help me with the problem. That was after he spent five minutes with me before leaving onto the next patient. Now, I work as a medical assistant so I know it's not difficult to call in a script to a pharmacy. So around three o'clock I was still in pain and was able to tolerate a drive to my pharmacy whereupon they informed me that I didn't have anything on my file. I call Oral Surgery in Spokane and apparently they leave around three and the doctor on call cannot legally prescribe me the muscle relaxer for my jaw. There was no other option than for me to suffer an entire weekend and memorial day in immense pain because of my jaw clenching and I tried everything to alleviate it. I called them Tuesday still in pain and they tried giving me excuses telling me it can take up to ten minutes if they were to actually talk to a pharmacist instead of just leaving a voice mail which, from what I hear is standard. So, I am not worth a ten minute call directly to the pharmacy on a weekend where no one is in town to help me? There was no solution other than the nurse saying she'll try to bring it up at their next meeting!! I am so mad, coming from the medical field I work directly with the doctor and call in prescriptions all the time because we believe in continuity of care and giving a darn about our patients. It's obvious to me these people do no such thing and are more worried about the next patient and getting you out quickly. They don't care about you as a person or a patient. Do not make the same mistake about this Oral Surgery Plus, I was in unnecessary pain for three days! Do you really want to be handled the same way? IF you do choose them just request that when they call meds in they actually choose the option for talking to the pharmacist instead of leaving a voicemail. That is just pure laziness at its best by the staff. To further add, no apology was made by the staff just excuses, I would've written a better review had they in place a better system and offered a genuine apology instead of excuses and just digging themselves a hole (i.e. actually calling in prescriptions for those grueling ten minutes) Yes, I do understand patient flow and how important it is not to get behind but I work in a busy clinic myself and know without a doubt calling in scripts is not too terribly difficult to do especially if its the day before the weekend and no other alternative is offered up. Apparently the on call dentist cannot get into patient charts and see the diagnoses and prescriptions for such. read more

Do not go here unless you have a lot of money you don't need, and like to be in pain, because they feel Ibuprofen and acetaminophen should be fine with the extraction of 4 teeth. First statement was to make sure I had insurance(even though I could pay in full without). Then they set a consultation and when I finally got taken to the room (because they forgot I was waiting) the Dr. spent about 5 minutes with me and the 2 questions I asked were answered with, so what did your Dentist say. The Dr. left the room and said they would come and get me, well about 15-20 minutes later they peeked in the door and saw me still sitting there and said they thought I had already been finished up with. They then charge me 98.00 for the consultation which they said my insurance would pay, but instead sent me the bill. Went 1 building over to Drs. Higuchi & Skinner, and Dr Skinner did a great job with far less of a bill and medication to tolerate the pain. read more
