It's actually fairly airy, despite being three separate levels since all are open to the outside. It's surrounded by Fort Totten park, several apartment complexes, and the Metropolitan Branch bike trail runs through the property. There are often deer grazing on the grass next to the platforms and around the station, which you can't say you see at the downtown stations! The transit basics: Red and Green Metro lines intersect here. There's a rumor that the Yellow line trains might once again extend here, but we'll see. It's also a bus hub with routes to dowtown, Ivy City, several destinations in PG county, and more. It's bustling during the day and quiets down at night. Since it is surrounded by the park, some might not feel comfortable walking around late at night away from the well lit areas, but I've not experienced a problem so far walking home late at night (I live about a 10 minute walk away).

But 38 minutes after the first notice went out, I'm still waiting for an invoice telling me what I owe and how to pay it, These people may be great at the non-emergency Medical operation where you deal with appointments made far in advance. But as a taxi service, it's ridiculous. Complaining that it was short notice means to me you can't handle what you say you do. And any company who bills with AI is flirting with disaster. What would it cost them to have on-call drivers, or an actual human being doing the billing? More than these folks are willing to pay! It will be Uber next time despite the huge prices they charge. However, I noticed a notification through the app the next morning that said the timer on my ride was still running. I called customer service, and even after I called, the timer kept running. I was charged $24 for a two hour ride. Customer service would not work with me at all. I do not recommend renting a bike through this company unless you are with someone experienced. Some of their kiosks weren't working at all, and it was my word against theirs that I even docked the bike. No way I could win that one. Terrible experience with customer service! I was not used to DC metro stations being above ground. It was a nice warm day so I didn't mind standing around waiting for the train. I could imagine in the winters this might be more of a hassle for folks. There are several restaurants and stores nearby. It is a mostly residential neighborhood so I felt completely safe here.

An unusual station because it's above ground. It serves the Red Line. There usually isn't that long of a wait. It can get pretty cold sometimes. The place also may get windy. Nice view of the area. Outdoors it also means there's not the bad smell. It overall seems pretty clean. Places to eat are close to it. The area is residential mostly but safe there.
