The court is awesome and it's fully booked fast ,so make sure you do the planning days before when you want to actually play. It's very high ceiling and very spacious and they have tons of courts within the building. Parking was plenty as well. They have dedicated areas for that. Went to Orange Badminton Club for the first time and had mixed feelings. First impression was actually pretty good. The place is huge, which was nice since it was pouring rain that day. From the outside it looks massive, and inside there are a bunch of trophies and pictures on the walls, which was cool to look at while we waited. The online waiver was easy and didn't take long at all. We had two courts next to each other and it didn't feel cramped, even as beginners. I liked that it still felt like we had our own space. But... there are definitely some things that could be better. There's a weird smell when you first walk in. You kind of get used to it after a while, but it's noticeable. The price was also kind of crazy , $42 for six people for one hour feels steep for what you're getting. The building feels a little outdated overall, and the restroom was honestly not great. The brown soap coming out of the dispenser was not it. Also, the lady at the front desk wasn't very friendly and rushed us off right when our time was up, even though there were empty courts. For what they charge, a little better customer service would make a big difference. We still had fun playing, but between the smell, price, and service, I'd say it's a solid 3 stars. read more

Pros: Easy to reserve a court online (but can only do 7 days in advance), private courts (don't have to share with other people besides whoever you come with), plenty of parking Cons: Slightly inconvenient to change/cancel reservation (need to email), can get expensive (at the time of this review, prices are currently $40/hr) Despite the price, I still love coming here to play badminton and I get such a good cardio workout every time, haha. So I've tried four gyms in the socal area and bar none this is the best..by far. So I'm shocked to read (and discern even why) other reviewers giving this place anything but five stars. Staff was warm and friendly, and allowed us to play extra time since the court after us was not in use Lines are clearly marked and the lighting doesn't blind you when trying to go for a smash. The policy for shoes/birdies etc is fair and they aren't straight up policing you every 5 seconds like other gyms. Price is fair and parking is a breeze. I cant actually ask for more from this gym. Came in to see the pro shop that they advertised on their website only to find that they don't have one and they have very limited selections starting at $135! I wanted a good beginner racket for my kids to try out the sport, but the vibe I got from this place was that they really only cater to those experienced and avid competitive players who just play games, which is fine but the front desk lady literally couldn't care. She blew off my husband who wanted as ask about lessons and told him to get out of the way to check in others coming in. To top it off, she says that she plays the sport but knows nothing about the equipment. She didn't want me trying out the racket either so I just ended up walking out and ended up taking my business to Tustin Tennis, which was only 10 minutes away, and had a nice selection of rackets from basic to elite level for tennis, badminton and pickleball. The owner took the time to explain the differences in each type of racket I was considering; and I was able to pick up a good racket for a fair price, spoiler alert, one that wasn't $135 for a beginner. Lol. The facility looked fine but a bit dated and expensive; and the staff we met weren't helpful and a bit rude. They're not in the business of building the sport with beginners, as much as they're expecting what their customers and people going there can do for them and to elevate their club. I'd try the Santa Fe Springs or Lakewood for better court availability anyway. read more

If you're looking for a nice indoor club for some real badminton this is your place! It's located next to Hanger 18 but there is plenty of parking around the building. You must book an RSVP for a timeslot on one of the 12 courts online! It's $32/hour for up to 6 people or flat $14/guest after 6 people. We booked for 2 hour time slot for 6 people. You checkin at the window by the door and yes you must write down all your guests names that will be playing. They then charge you immediately for your timeslot so once you're finished you just leave. They do have a full locker room with showers available for both men and woman that have lockers available too. They also have shoes and rackets available for rent if you need. They are $6 each available at checkin. There's also bottled water and gatorade for sale in the fridge up front. It's like $2.25/each. The courts themselves are pretty nice with full padded rubber mats and competition size court/nets on each of the 12 courts. There are seats/stands on the side of each court for you to rest or store your stuff for your group. They are also free shuttlecocks around each of the courts if you forget your own. The facility is pretty chill and has A/C but its set to 75 degrees so does get abit stuffy once you start playing. The staff does kick you off if you randomly play on an open court! But yeah there are alot of random courts open especially near closing time. Overall pretty nice Badminton club for rallying for all skill levels and groups! Looks like they had some Olympic players training here before too with all the trophies and banners on the walls! read more

Bad experience The first time, we had an accident double book by 2 people in the team. It was unable cancelation ( I clicked on my appointment, and it showed 3 options. There was a canceled appointment there, but It doesn't works) Then, We came to the front desk to ask about the double booked manager here. He doesn't want to help us with the cancelation. Even the online appointment is unable to be canceled. *** they said we have to email them for cancelation *** It is not convenient because it is an easy book but not easy to cancel. I feel bad about this experience on the problem here. I just have another group want to play, but I will consider inviting them here to play because it is not the only place to play badminton. Paying the fee for the accident is not much money, but it is the experience/lesson to me that place doesn't care about you, player come play or not. read more

The courts here are really nice. Wood floor with these old 1996 Atlanta Olympic rubber mats on top. Place was known for creating some of the best the US had and if you want to find good people to train yourself against, this is the place. Olympians and champions were made here and the atmosphere and vibe reflect that. Covid has them doing a court reservation system which can get pricey if youre alone, but split it with a couple of friends and its nothing. Up to 6 people. Gatorades only $2 which is nice. The guy who built it was an OG of the badminton scene early on and helped bring the sport to the states, so its nice feeling the history. read more

By no means am I an avid badminton player. I'm not about to win any medals at any competitions, but I do like to play and play hard. The way I see it, there are two types of badminton being played in this country - one models little ladies in the Elizabethan Era in England and the other resembles the hard-core, competitive sport. I play the latter. Having been here a few times with my badminton club kids (I'm their adviser), the facility is great. It is a large, open space - and it's empty. That can be a good thing or a bad thing. Let's talk optimistically, shall we? The place is open 7 days a week and you'll never have to wait for a court to open up. The bathrooms have lockers at the end as well as showers. Courts are clean and in good shape. Pessimistically, it does cost $12.00 to play here and you can't exit the building (if so, it's another $12 when you return). I hear the other badminton facilities are more in the $8, $9 range with no re-entry restrictions. The people who work there are friendly enough though. It's not like I need them to come over and start polishing my shoes - just enough to say hi, handle the business, and let me play. Because I go here to play with my kids, I really haven't met any regulars that show up here (I guess there are regulars here). So if you go in a group, and $12 entry fee is not a concern for you, this is the place. I'm there every other Saturday from 2pm till about 5 or 6pm. Look for the old guy dominating the high school teenagers on the other side of the net. hahaha read more

My husband and I been a member at this club for years. We come here to play regularly yet we were being discriminated by the cashier who get to work there because she's one of the owners' relatives. Just like most people here, we remained a member because there's no other badminton clubs nearby. If you do come to play, make sure you find out all the pricing in advance so that you're not a victim like us getting over charged for buying birdies from this cashier lady. Price for a tube of birdies can change based on who you are. We paid $10 dollars more than what a handful of others we know paid for the same tube of birdies. read more

Love this place. It has a lot of history *check out the Atlanta 1996 Olympic used badminton matts* Legends used to coach / train here before they moved on. Now it's a shadow of their former glory but I still appreciate the place. The pro-shop is immaculate and having a nice restaurant built in to the gym is a premium touch. This was where they held US Open Badminton Grand Prix Gold. Being able to player here is a privilege. The still hold regional, national, international junior championships here (read the review with a complain about sportsmanship and being boo'd or mistreated during a tournament ha ha, please.....). Badminton in general is an expensive sport. Be prepared to play. If you're lucky occasionally you'll still see some former pros spar and enjoy the sport here. It was a nice club with many courts. Their is a rubber overlay on the courts which is nice. But, I am in a wheelchair and this type of flooring is not good on my shoulders. And much to my dismay. They were afraid of me rolling on them. So unfortunately I can not give them a 5 star rating due to the fact I never got to play there. It is not very often I am completely turned away from an establishment. But, I understand the Yonex flooring is extremely expensive so I can not give them a 1 star rating either. I hope to be able to play there one day as the coach is great and the people were very nice. read more

I am not a fan of this place at all. I agree with my fellow reviewer, Jay S., that OCBC is an upper-echelon training facility that does NOTHING to promote the sport of badminton. Instead, they encourage outsiders to laugh at us and say..."Really? What advancements in life can you get from dedicating all this money and time into playing badminton?" If you've read my review of LABC on the snootiness of some of it's members...well, then you're in for an even bigger treat here because this is the holy grail of snobby badminton players. Everyone who players here, has an intention and a dream to be the future world's #1 player. Only the best of the best come here to train, so if you're anything less than brilliant with a bird (shuttlecock) or you just have waaaaay too much money on your hands, then you are way out of your league here. True, they are amazing and fun to watch...all 6 six of them, but for less serious players, like myself...this is no home for us. In addition, I think this club is run down. For the ridiculous amount of money that they charge you for membership or even one day entrance fee, you would expect a Bellagio....Venetian...Wynn...Aria grade like facility, but instead you're left feeling like you're at the Imperial Palace...Tropicana...or Stratosphere (expensive for old school quality.) I swear the same stain I saw 15 years ago when I played in high school was still there when I came to watch a tournament here at OCBC, recently. With all the badminton clubs that have opened now in the Southern California area...this one ranks the lowest by far for me. It's one thing to establish an environment for the elite players, but it's another to deter newcomers or lower leveled players from enjoying a game that they too, could be passionate for. On top of their incredibly inflated prices for membership, you are required to purchase their water and their birds, to play here. I wonder if they will start imposing the purchase of their underwear as well. In any event, I like my underwear...I like my birds...and I like my own water. No to OCBC for me. read more

Went on a Thursday at approximately 7PM. There was always a court available so that made my experience here very enjoyable. The facilities are clean and everyone is friendly. When you enter, you must sign a waiver as a first time patron. Entry fee is $12, which is quite high for badminton clubs - but this place was closer to me than SGVBCII, so I thought I might try it out. Also, this place is sponsored by Yonex - so they only want you using Yonex shuttlecocks. It was pretty fun and the other players are quite decent. I'd come again. read more

Large, spacious gym, I came here for my sister's badminton tournament. The place is a little pricey, but then again, most badminton gyms I've gone to (the nicer ones) are at least $8 non-member admission, so just have your $12 ready here. Pretty clean, and lots of parking available outside! They have a restaurant right next door that serves delicious thai tea though, plus points for that! read more

I went to this place the other day to get my racket strung. The lady who was at the counter was a bit of a know it all. She convinced me that my racket was not an original Yonex. So I decided not to get it strung. I went home and took the serial number from the racket and emailed Yonex to confirm the Racket model and who the reseller was. And it matched. The racket is a 100% original. Their stringing service here is overpriced as well. The only reason I even went there was that it's close to my work. Anyway i found a new place to get my racket strung. It's the Tustin Tennis store. They have a store in cerritos as well. Their prices are much more reasonable. read more

Absolutely the worst place possible to have a tournament, much less a junior tournament. I've competed here since I was a kid, and I have to admit that aside from the terrible lighting and worn out courts, the one reason I dreaded coming here was because of the complete lack of sportsmanship and class there. It's no secret that kids who enroll in the badminton academies around (GBA, Bintang) are notoriously over the top when they cheer. They cheer loudly and they cheer for the things they shouldn't--like when an opponent makes a mistake. It's incredibly rude, even for a competitive match like this. And it clearly rattles players, particularly younger ones. (I remember storming off the court in tears because of it when I was seven.) At a tournament recently I finally had enough and, after a match with one of their kids, I went over and thanked them--partly because I was genuinely grateful that they'd kept me motivated, but also to subtly push across the point that it was a little unnecessary. But then when I went to play another match on the same court, they started shouting abuse at me and calling me names--they told me I was getting "old and worthless", and that was one of their cleaner lines. They even came into the court. Thankfully, an umpire finally intervened. I don't fault OCBC for the incident, but I do fault them for not taking care to create a safe atmosphere where kids can compete without being booed by a stranger's parents. I do fault them for not enforcing a culture of respect and for letting parents know when they were out of line. People play badminton to have fun, not to be intimidated and harassed. If you have young kids playing badminton, take them somewhere else, I beg you. I recommend LABC or MBBC (if you can make the drive). Just not here. Not until things change. read more

I was a member of OCBC for about two years. -It is not $25 per walk in admission but $12. (Which is not TOO bad compared to the $8 admission at LABC and ABC ) -OCBC is an outstanding facility that is clean and comfortable (The restrooms are complete with very clean showers, which are the ones that you won't be afraid to step in with your bare feet) -Out of all the clubs i have played at, OCBC is my favorite as all the walls are green (which makes it easy on the eyes and easy to spot the bird flying at you) The lighting is also fantastic and very bright -It is true that OCBC does have a history of producing some very impressive players who play at the national level and even competed and won the world cup -OCBC has some very dedicated and professional coaches who can train new players of all ages -The staff is friendly and inviting -The levels of the members and visitors vary greatly and it is always easy to find a casual match whenever you go by yourself ..Personally it makes me sad that OCBC is not as well known as all the other clubs. Also the owner has spent much of his own money maintaining this facility and he is really an admirable man. I highly recommend that you try it out. read more

OCBC is great!! It has great floor and fantastic players to play with. The reception lady always help beginner to find some person to play with. I agree the cost is more than other places. But I went to San Gabriel BC. I cannot play on that kind of floor. That is not a badminton mat for people to play. It will definitely cause injury!! You pay what you get in the long run anyway. If you are new for badminton, I think you should take some lessons to begin with. It is just like tennis or any other sports!! read more

this place is my motivation for saving up money and opening up my own badminton club in cerritos. anyone interested in investing? :) old facility and snobby people = bad combination. $12 for non members walking in. that's $4 more than arcadia badminton club and the mats look really old. lighting is good though and the air quality seems to be better. one event stood out though. my friends and i were playing on the 2nd court from the door i believe.. close to the front.. when this older lady approached us and told us we needed to move, because in this badminton club, they all share. i get the part about sharing, but why was she asking us to move when we haven't finished playing yet (there were other open courts in the back)? it was weird. and we couldn't understand her half the time cos her english wasn't that good. since it was our first time, we thought this was really how they did it. so we moved to one of the courts in the back. one of my friends asked the lady in the desk if that's really part of their rules and she said no and apologized. i don't need her apology though.. this just goes to show what kind of people play here. oh and they want you to use shuttlecocks that you purchase from their store! atrocious! we sneaked ours in though. never again. i'll drive the extra miles and go to arcadia. read more

Kudos to the lady at the front desk. Karina always helps new people find partners. She made me feel welcomed and comfortable when I first started going here. I not only enjoy playing badminton but also interacting with the regulars here (mostly older adults who work 9-5pm and come here after work to get exercise and enjoy a good ol game of badminton).
