My sincere thanks to Dr. Williams and his amazing staff. I had an initial consultation for FUE in October 2024, was incredibly impressed by him, his staff, his recommendations at that time. From prior experience I won't move forward with any kind of surgery without a second opinion, and Dr. Williams made an excellent referral. I had the 2nd opinion and felt he was also an excellent surgeon (as seen on TV) but was pushing for an FUT procedure which I did not want, and felt the staff and follow-ups were very pushy/sales-y. That left me wondering whether I was going to be happy with the results of just one FUE procedure (turns-out: yes) or whether I should consider a hybrid, so I had another follow up video visit with Dr. Williams and again in-person. He was very patient, never pushy, explained all the pros/cons and gave me plenty of grace and space to make my decision -- following my in-person consultation in April 2026 I scheduled an FUE procedure with PRP for early May 2026. 2700 grafts + PRP, in by 8am out by 3pm, recovery was much easier than I expected or read about, exactly as Dr. Williams described. Follow-up the next day went well, and even though I live over an hour away I came back 1 week later - he and I were both very pleased with the results (there is both a science and an art to this, and Dr. Williams is both a scientist and an artist where matters). The only thing good about this business is the name and that it places so high on the Google search results. I fell for it. There is nothing special about the overpriced PRP. You told me the folliculitis on my scalp were moles. Any nurse in a walkin clinic could've given a better diagnosis. Moles are not red and scab-like last time I checked. By the way my "moles" are all gone now that I've been doing microneedling. How do you explain that? You also failed to diagnose my sebhorreic dermatitis. You're average at best and you charge ridiculous prices. I am so glad I did not get a transplant from you. I just needed zinc pyrithione shampoo. Be careful what you sign also. I saw Dr. Williams on clinicaltrials.gov and called about an alopecia areata study and was transferred to the gentleman handling it. He explained to me that it was a patient funded study, and I would need to pay $12,000. That is a substantial sum, but I would consider it if the PRP treatment had a good chance of working. The gentleman couldn't make any promises. I told the gentleman I had alopecia universalis, thus lost hair everywhere on my body. I asked, for the $12,000, would I receive whole body PRP treatment, would it work on the whole body, would it be just on my head, or face? The person seemed to be annoyed with my questions at this point and said he felt I was wasting his time. He gave me the website to a hair cloning site in the UK that treats male pattern baldness. I was disappointed with how little I was able to learn about OC Hair Restoration's ability to treat alopecia areata. read more

Lots of talk/marketing... Claim their PRP is "HD PRP" They claim to take 50ml of your blood and also claim their centrifuge machine returns the highest concentrated platelets. I don't know enough about the machines to tell you if their machine is good or bad... All I can tell you is that they did not extract 50ml or even 40ml (more like 25ml) and amount of amount of PRP vials was not any more than other places I have gone to. Basically, the same process as most other places... Most places take 25-30ml of your blood and end up with several vials of PRP. My only issue with this place is that they claim their PRP is is HD PRP (total marketing) and this why they charge $2,500 per session when most places charge $700-$900 They also claimed to add Acell and I did not see that being added nor did they mention that on the day of the procedure but they told me on the day of the consultation that they do include Acell. (I will give them the benefit of doubt here although I am skeptical) I have no problem with a place charging 2-3x of market but I do have a problem when a business exaggerates or makes false statements. I found the whole experience very pleasant, although it is only 10 days after my surgery and am waiting to see the long term results. The entire staff at OC Hair Restoration were friendly and helpful throughout the entire process. I was charged $100 for the first appointment and Dr. Williams and Roy were clear about the costs for the surgery. I was provided with clear instructions for do's and dont's for the 10 days prior to surgery. I had a further consultation the day before the surgery when my hair was shaved very short and we discussed the position of my new hairline. The day itself went well with very little discomfort. Not as bad as going to a dentist! As far as I remember Dr. Williams was in the room for the entire time and performed much of the procedure himself. Another appointment the day after to check up and wash my head, then again one week after. Dr Williams was always professional and friendly and answered all of my questions. I now have to wait for 4-8 months to see the end result, but I am happy with how it looks now but understand all the transplants will fall out over the next couple of weeks before regrowing. It is always a bit of a gamble when picking a service such as this with no personal knowledge. I did my research, read reviews, both positive and negative, about several doctors in OC. I chose Dr. Williams as he appears to only do hair transplant related procedures as opposed to a general plastic surgery. I am very happy with the choice I made. I specifically asked several times, in the initial call, in the appointment confirmation call AND when I got to the office (when I had already paid $100 to confirm my appointment) I asked again "Will this doctor do more than just look at my head and tell me I have hair loss?" A lady took some photos from different angles and then the doc came in the room and guess what? He said "You have hair loss. There's nothing you can do about it. You can pay about $1000 more and I can biopsy the spot and send it to the east coast and a lady there will look at it under a microscope. But there's nothing you can do for it." I want to start off by saying how friendly the staff is here. From the front desk to the doctors, everyone here greets you with a smile. It's been easy to schedule/reschedule appointments with them. The office is clean and, dare I say, cozy. I've had 3 laser hair removal sessions and can already see the difference. I've done laser hair removal with another machine that was painful and required me to get numbing cream. Luckily, this machine just feels warm/hot, but no painful snapping. I came here for a a silk peel microdermabrasion that I bought off Living Social about a year ago, and I have no complaints! It was really easy to book the appointment, and they texted me the week before (then the day before) to confirm my appointment. When I got into the office, I filled out "paperwork" via a fancy tablet (it's very high tech here!). Dr. Ken Williams was really punctual and he has a GREAT bedside manner (I told him this too!!) - I've found that a lot of doctors just want to come in and out in a hurry, making you feel like they have much more important things to do, but not Dr. Williams. After we talked, another aesthetician came in to do the actual microdermabrasion. It's pretty painless as all it does is suck the first layer of skin cells from your skin, leaving you with smoother, softer skin by the time you leave. My skin felt so baby soft afterwards, I wish I could do this more often. I love it when my Living Social purchases are a success! read more

Had an appointment for a skin consultation because I've been battling acne since high school &I was looking for a last resort fix to help me with my skin: Laser. The lady that took me through the first part of the skin consultation used a photo machine that measured the damage to my face &used the data to recommend the best approach. She was very sweet &made an embarrassing process much more comfortable. The second part of my appointment was actually a face-to-face consultation with Dr. Williams. I was surprised since a past skin consultation at another laser institute had me meet with a sales associate trying to pitch me the most expensive treatment that would help his commission increase. He was very attentive &genuinely interested in my life because it does affect how the skin reacts. I was extremely surprised that he didn't suggest that I needed laser, in fact he said that my skin wouldn't benefit from it right now. He went through the medical options &the eventual cosmetic options. Although there is a $125 skin consultation fee, it's worth it because their staff is very thorough &Dr. Williams might have been my best medical experience that I've had because I'm a Kaiser patient, so this kind of attention is unheard of in the Kaiser setting. UPDATE: 4 months post-FUE and I am very pleased with the results so far, my restored hairline is looking great! NEVER buy a Groupon from Dr. Kenneth William's, Irvine Institute of Medicine & Cosmetic Surgery. The receptionist was very friendly but the nurse that did my IPL was terrible. She hardly spent anytime doing my IPL procedure and my face was not even pink upon completion. it was poorly done. The doctor's assistant, Roy, said that I should not expect much from a Groupon purchase and that they do not guarantee results for such purchases. I suggested that they let potential consumers know on the Groupon site that they are NOT selling a full IPL! I would have gone elsewhere, or paid more for the REAL deal! I was not rude and have paid for plenty of full price procedures over the years but was made to feel like dirt for having purchased the IPL from Groupon. Rip off. You have been warned. read more

Superlative patient care from the moment you walk in the door is the norm with Dr. Kenneth Williams. As a surgeon myself, I was very particular and discerning with respect to who I chose to perform my hair restoration surgery. I wanted someone with a vast amount of experience, someone who is a leader in the field, someone who is a researcher, internationally recognized, board-certified, has superlative surgical skills, charges fair and reasonable surgical fees, and practices with a high degree of integrity, honesty, and an unwavering ethical sense. This has been my experience with Dr. Williams and his practice. I just finished my second hair restoration procedure with Dr. Williams and as in the first time, I am thrilled beyond words. Because there is a limit to how many grafts that can be placed in one day, I required two procedures. I am aware of that and there are cheaper, less experienced doctors that can promise to do more in a single procedure, but as we all know, quality and quantity are two different things and I, like most people, have chosen quality. Having had this experience before, I can say that although the initial results can be a little bit concerning because of the normal degree of redness, swelling, and a little bit of scabbing that occurs during the first week, the quality of the work is absolutely evident after about seven days when one begins to see the perfectly natural manner in which the hair is restored. The result totally exceeded my expectations. I totally recommend Dr. Williams to anyone is considering this type of surgery. There is no need to look any further. P.S. aside from the outstanding surgical outcome, my focus on looking my best created a desire in me to make other meaningful changes (as a result of my increased desire to care for myself)- I joined a gym, totally changed my diet, and I'm happy to say that I've lost 15 pounds of fat, put on 10 pounds of muscle, dropped my cholesterol by 150 points, and my blood pressure by 25 points. These are priceless secondary benefits from a surgeon that opens the door for patients to make huge positive changes in their lives. P.P.S. I discovered that I had PCOS in high school and have been suffering from excess hair on the sides of my face and under my chin ever since. I had originally done 10+ electrolysis sessions in high school to take care of the large majority of hair on my face- incredibly painful sessions, and never took away ALL the hair. However, when I started new birth control 8 months ago, the hormone change triggered new hair growth. I was so upset and visited several electrologists initially and had probably 7 or 8 sessions but the hair continued to grow back after several weeks. I finally became resigned to the hair and began shaving my face every 3-4 days, and was incredibly self conscious every time someone went to touch my face. After several months, my mom pushed me to look in to alternative hair removal methods and that's how I came across Irvine Institute of Medicine and Cosmetic Surgery. I stumbled across a groupon they were running for their hair removal laser- the state of the art Soprano ICE laser. I called the institute and booked my appointment on a whim. I went the following week, the two girls at the counter are incredibly nice as are the technicians who set me up in my room! I went in with no clue how the process worked, but the whole procedure was done in under 5 mins! Which is insane considering the fact that I regularly sat in the electrolysis chair for an hour of torture. The laser is quick, and just feels hot on the skin (sometimes really hot) but it's over so quickly that it's so worth it! I left on my merry way- not having high hopes as everything previously hadn't helped. 2 weeks later I started finding little black thick hairs falling out in my washcloth and by 1 month I would say a sold 2/3rds of my hair had fallen out after just 1 session!! Now I do think that's partly do to the fact that my hair growth was very recent and probably easier to treat but I also had done close to 10 electrolysis sessions that hadn't helped with that new hair growth at all! I then went for my second session, after which I didn't shave for a month! My hairs are so light and slow growing that it's incredible- I was shaving every few days with thick stumble under my chin and now you can't see any hair at all! I am so incredibly thankful for the wonderful doctors who treated me, and I could not possibly be more thrilled with the results. I was a recent patient of Dr. Williams for a hair transplant procedure. I say recent, but it has been several months (since September 2013 I believe) as I intentionally waited to see the results so that I could provide an accurate review of his work. I'm not new to this. Since I was in my early 20's I was losing my hair and went to a physician in LA and had several strip methods done for my multiple transplants. Dr. Williams was much more local to my home with a better price point than the LA physician I used for decades, so I decided to go in for a consultation. When you walk into his office, what I found striking is that it feels like a cross between a state of the art medical practice and a boutique. I always have a certain amount of anxiety, even after so many times of doing this (a lot of anxiety actually), but the atmosphere he creates certainly helped this. Dr. Williams himself I actually found to be a rather amazing individual. If you go for a consultation, even if you decide not to use him, you will walk out of there with a comfort level that he has a deep knowledge and passion for medicine, and also that he genuinely cares about his patients. He actually demonstrated this to me pretty profoundly -- I don't want to get into my personal medical stuff in an open forum, but I will just say he went well out of his way to accommodate my particular condition. He also pointed out something that my original physician missed, which I researched and realized I was assuming an enormous risk had I done the procedure with my former physician - a risk that Dr. Williams eliminated with his procedure. So, the results I reference in my opening paragraph: Yeah - you notice the 5 stars on this review. My previous physician recommended not placing grafts in an area that I really wanted, I forget his reason, but Dr. Williams disagreed and actually recommended the area I felt I needed it the most (I didn't even tell him of the conversation with my previous physician, he came up with this on his own). Many months later, now that it is coming in, it has really restored a look I haven't seen in myself for many....many years. You really need to do your homework when you search for any cosmetic surgeon, taking into consideration their experience in the discipline you're looking to have done, their overall clinical expertise, and probably equally as important that he or she is an artistic visionary. I had an appt scheduled for an IPL treatment, but the day before a migraine headache sent me to bed. I called and no one called me back. The next morning I called when the office opened and told them I was suffering a migraine and needed to reschedule the appt. They said, TOO BAD! No refund, no reschedule appt. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. They don't return calls when they promise to. They charge bogus consultation fees for women and not for men!!! When asked why, they could not justify it. He came recommended by another dermotologist. I did consult with 6 different docs and felt the best with Ken. The result was beyond my expectations. This is my first review on Yelp as I felt very compelled to share my hair restoration experience with Dr. Williams and his staff. Dr. Williams and his staff have to be the most considerate medical staff I have met to date. The reason for my initial visit with Dr. Williams was to discuss hair restoration and the new techniques available. Dr. Williams took great care in listening to what I was looking for and in turn explaining to me the pros and cons of each procedure as well as what he envisioned for me. I can't stress enough how wonderful it was to have a Physician not look at his watch as he/she talks to you. Dr. Williams genuinely listens and cares about what you say. I chose to do the FUE procedure (no linear scar on the back of my head). I am so happy with the results that I have trouble expressing it in words. In my humble opinion, in order for the hair restoration outcome to be a positive one, three things have to happen. 1. Patients needs are in line with what's realistic 2. Physician skill with the procedure 3. An almost art-like skill in either re-creating the hairline or properly placing the hair follicles Dr. Williams exceeded all my expectations. One week post-op and the results are just beautiful. Dr. Williams staff truly cares about the patient and they work tirelessly to ensure the patient is comfortable and happy. This applies to the actual procedure and post-op. In summary,if you are looking into hair restoration I strongly encourage you to visit Dr. Williams and hear what he has to say. Frankly, I haven't met a Physician (and I am in my 40's) that takes the time to truly understand the patient (as Dr. Williams does). read more

I went here because I bought a groupon for a photo facial. Wow, what a great purchase. The office and staff are 5 stars. The procedure was beyond my expectations. I had not ever used a groupon and expected lower level service. Instead, I was treated in the same manner as a non groupon client. The results are amazing. So I discovered Dr Williams back when he first opened his practice in Irvine. I have to say, he is truly the best in skin care. He really knows what he is doing, and has an exceptional bed side manner to make you feel calm. He understands the skin as both a science and an art-- and that is a perfect combination in his world. Apparently others share my honest high approval-- he really is the best. My only complaint now is that I want him carbon copied as his schedule is filling up a ton. However, his staff are awesome with texting and emailing when others no-show or cancel. read more
