Orange County Pools in New Windsor, NY - 0 Stars. Horrible experience over the entire process of installing a new custom vinyl pool with a fiberglass hot tub within the footprint of the pool. We dealt with Shane, who is absolutely useless. Knows nothing about the equipment he sells, could not remember anything we had gone over with him or the actual liner and products we wanted. We were doing stone coping and pavers around the pool. Told us we must use 12" coping. Luckily I waited to order the stone as when they installed the the pool walls and the hot tub (which was delayed by several month because they told us the wrong one was sent to them - an absolute lie as we had to chase them down up to the day before they were supposed to install it until they finally lied to us and tried to talk us into doing a concrete hot tub instead - which by the way they originally said they could not do). When they finally installed the hot tub 4+ months later, 12" coping would not cover the gap between the hot tub and the pool wall because they had measured incorrectly. (needed at least 14" coping). Then the hot tub was leaking from day one. Couldn't get the basics right - if it doesn't hold water, nothing else matters. They sent over someone who didn't know what he was doing and was just smearing caulk all over the one light fixture in the hot tub to try and fix it. After the 4th! visit to find fix the leak, we had to get a sonic leak detection specialist to find and repair the leak. Then one of the relays went out at the Pentair panel. We were now dealing with the owner of the company (Vinnie) due to Shane's complete incompetence (I can not stress enough how clueless he is..). Vinnie tried to claim it happened because the low voltage line was run in the same conduit as the high voltage line (this is not the cause) and it was our electricians fault and needed to go back to them. He didn't realize that HIS electrician had run it.. another idiot trying to offload his mistakes onto us. They sent a nice guy over to fix it and he replaced the relay, but said he couldn't test as he didn't know how, but it should be good as it was a new part - the first one was a new part also, you need to test it. I did it myself. They also ran the lines for surface mounted air control valves (for bubbles in the hot tub) right in the walk path and where you step into the hot tub. I spoke to Shane (Vinnie wasn't available) to tell them they needed to be moved (10 mintue job - pvc flex pipe) and Shane said I don't think you can do that.. The guy who knows nothing about pools, now has an opinion on pool plumbing. I told him it absolutely can be done, and WILL be done, I was asking them to do it as they had put them in the wrong place. He got back to me after talking to his techs and gave me a quote of $150 per hour to move. Thanks for nothing idiot. I did it myself in ten minutes, no issues. Shane also ordered the cover for the pool and hot tub incorrectly. He literally co do nothing right. We spent over 1 and 1/2 years dealing with their incompetence. The actual pool builders they outsourced to (believe they were called King Pools) were good. NEVER EVER think about using them, you will regret it like we did. read more

Purchased a Wellis hot tub and it was a nice investment . Shane, Jordan & staff very nice and acceptable of our phone calls regarding when delivery would happen . Delivery was excellent. We will get instruction when wiring is complete , it looks fantastic , we are so grateful & happy we put our trust in Orange county pools, I wish they would've put our purchase towards points but I guess we would've gotten too much product for free haha but you do earn points towards free pool supplies if you pay cash for your goods bought here , great variety of supplies read more

I would rather fill my pool with alligators than deal with Orange County Pools again. Here it is, their busiest season and the service department doesn't get in until 10:30. I had an appointment for Tuesday. Nobody came until Thursday. Nobody called to say they weren't coming. When they did come on Thursday, they didn't do the work for whatever reason. The service manager took no accountability. But he did take the opportunity to be arrogant, rude, and put the blame on me. They didn't do any work - yet I actually had to call to get my money back. The service manager is just not a pleasant man. I spoke to the owner at Orange County, but when they say they're going to get back to you and they don't, it's just patronizing behavior. I recommend Different Strokes if you need pool service. They got the work done without any complaints, and they were super awesome guys with a really nice owner. read more

Orange county pools has gone straight to heck. I went in yesterday for a simple O-ring for a Hayward filter, whom they're dealers for, and after passing the responsibilities back and forth among a half a dozen teenagers for 15 minutes, they told me they didn't have it but could have it "next week" Never again. I then went to Royal pools and spas in Newburgh and while they didn't have one either, they took one off of one of their parts and sold it to me. Much more professional. read more

Hired Orange County pools and spas to build our pool before the pandemic. He was paid up front then the lockdown happened. Suspension on construction was lifted but he still dragged his feet for some time after. Fast forward to the pools completion and the contractor he hired for the patio stone work, Belle landscape construction,completely butchered the job. Pavers are sinking. Edge work is exposed and uneven. The pavers were never sealed so they have a dull look. Not to mention there is constant drainage issue where water is getting behind the pool and pushing up the shallow End of the pool liner. through all of that, The general contractor which is Orange County pools, has not taken responsibility for his subcontractor's sub-par work. Bare in mind we are in the 3rd summer without a permanent resolution to this problem. he scrapes the bottom of the barrel for his sub contractors. Before committing i highly recommended you read the back of the contact it says it all. they do not stand behind their work. The subcontractor that installs is half assed at best. My semi in the ground pool collapsed from water damage due to no drainage within 8 months. Never show up on time. Full of excuses not solutions. I 'm trying to be civil, they wanted money upfront to check out the pool heater, when the two "Mechanics" came out, they said , oh we cant clean the burners because we are not licensed to do any gas fixtures, even though it was clear to Kathy that, that is what was needed first. Then they said oh, its got to be this part! okay, lets order it. Never did , kept calling and was told they would get back to me. They never did, such B S er's. If their claim of installing ten of thousands of pools is true, they had to install 200 pools a year, what a B S company. read more

Very unprofessional. We were set to have a liner installed, however they made a mistake with the measurements so they were unable to install the liner and would now need to get a custom liner. That was not the issue, everyone makes mistakes. I was very unhappy with the service departmeant. Apparently there is only one person who handles liners in their service department and there was no follow up on his end. I literally had to call and check in myself every step of the way. Their policy is full payment before the job is completed, which is ridiculous, but whatever, we followed their policy given their reputation. We were told that a manufacturer would be out to measure for a custom liner since they were unable to install the liner they measured for. They didn't show two days in a row, and NO call from the service department. I had to follow up to see what was going on both days. All that was needed was a courtesy call to say "hey I'm so sorry but the manufacturer can't make it today", but no call either day. The second day I called and left a message and so did my husband and they didn't even get back to us at all. I had to call again the next morning. When I asked to speak with Pat, the woman put me on hold and came back saying "the guy will be there today" and that was it. It was the most unprofessional experience I've had to deal with and am very surprised by the way they handle business. We decided to receive a refund due to their lack of professionalism. Also, we have spoke to numerous pool professionals after this and they all said that there is absolutely no need to get a custom liner. I definitely do not recommend. Addendum: I just received an apology and a check for $125 from the owner. While that doesn't undo my experience (see below), it does at least indicate to me that the owner cares and the company is making an effort at public relations. I hired this pool company to restore a pool that had been left uncovered for a year by the previous owner. First, they sent me an invoice trying to sell me a pump I didn't need because the pump in place was working fine and they had no explanation for why this happened when I asked for one. Throughout July and August, they came to clean the pool but at no point did they bring it up to working condition. The pool cleaner kept saying he couldn't see clearly enough to vacuum up the debris at the bottom. The cleaners didn't even empty the skimmers or the pool pump basket when they came to "clean." I finally asked one of the pool company reps if there was something they could add to the water to make it clear enough that the debris could be vacuumed, and she said to add a clarifier. The next day, the water was clear, but the idiot pool cleaner who came said he wasn't getting enough pressure to vacuum and erroneously claimed that he couldn't backwash because my backwash hose had split in two (it just needed a new fastening clip, which the next pool company I hired kept in their van, of course, but Orange Couty Pools doesn't). That pool company, Royal Pools, which I highly recommend, vacuumed the pool with no issues, emptied the skimmers and pool basket (which were filled to overflowing with muck), and had the pool up and running after one visit. They also provided me with an invoice detailing everything they had done after each visit, which OCP never did, probably because they did very little. I lost a whole summer of pool use because of Orange County Pools. In addition, a manager, David, had the gall to blame the problems with the pool on me ("This pool has been a problem from Day One," said the customer-service genius -- duh, that's why I hired YOU to fix it. Next time, if you can't handle a job, don't take it). The owner, Vinny Sr., apologized and said, "We don't run that kind of slop shop," and when I asked for a partial refund promised, "We'll take care of you." Never heard from him again. Guess what? You do run that kind of slop shop! Just abominable customer service across the board. read more

Purchased a foreclosed home with a pool that's been sitting for 4-5 yrs without winterization. Called and spoke to Dave and Victoria who were very nice. However, they wanted $250 to come out and give me an estimate for repairs? My pool liner needs repair/replacement and my equipment is shattered so I definitely need someone to fix it. Horrible customer service. I'm not speaking about the actual work, because they nnever did anything. Trying to get service was one headache after another, First, during above ground pool opening I saw a crack in the PVC output of my propane heater. I called to schedule an appointment. They had me send pictures. The earliest appt was in 10 days! OK, I guess I'll weait 10 days - this is a busy season. On the day of the appt I was told I could be given no window narrwoer than 9-5 and someone would call me when they did their schedule in the morning. Well, by 2pm, no word. SO I called. Eventually, I got a call back from the tech who was about to come over, but just took the first look at my pics (after 10 DAYS) to say that is not fixable. I need a new heater. OK, not ure I 100% believe. I asked if he could install exact same model if I bought - he said he could do everything but electric. I said no prob, since electric is already running to an outlet by the heater. Heater order and appointment made. Again, 10 days. Heater has arrived and other than annoying me about signing an agreement an e-mailing it back before they would show up. OK, whatever. So I get a call earlier today that the guys are on site, but they aren't licensed to unhook gas of old heater or hook it back up to new heater. Thanks for taking 20 days to get to this point. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. SIMPLY HORRIBLE. They've been pretty bad in the past, but this year takes the cake. I'm done with them. read more

Had OC Pools close our pool last year and in the process they destroyed our filter. When they dropped off the filter after "cleaning it" we found several gauges and fittings damaged and/or missing. When we called to complain, we were told that "they did not damage anything and that we must have caused the damage." Never again will we use them for their services! read more

Do not use for pool repair. I emailed the company a pic of my heater with Serial Number (for which they had serviced for years). They sent a tech out and unfortunately I wasn't there. My fault because I trusted them. I didn't hear from them but saw a $400+ charge on my card. I tried heater and there were still error codes and wouldn't fire. I called and was told it was wet and needed to dry and if it still didn't work it needed a new board. I called another company after 3 sunny days and it wouldn't work. The company came and popped the panel off and said the valve was shut off on the inside. It fired right up and ran fine. I called Orange County back and the guy tried to convince me his pool guy fixed it but shut the valve back off. I said why would you keep telling me to try it after it dried up if the valve was off. He said I should've turned it on. It takes a special instrument to open the front of my panel and even if I had it, I'm not sticking my hands in the wiring to do it. Then he said only a gas company was supposed to do it. Then he yells at me not to call him a liar....SOOOOOO I'm calling him a liar. Nasty Customer Service. He said he was new.... Orange County....You need a new Manager. Never have I ever complained about the many times you have serviced my pool. read more

I have always used these guys for my chemicals each year last year was the first time that I used them to close the pool. Well spring finally came and I decided to open it myself, I reconnected the lines and turned on the pool. Nothing but leeks on all of my fittings that should not have been loosened, I went to see the owner and he said THIS TO ME ( YOU SHOULD HAVE HAD US OPEN YOUR POOL ). Clearly there only interested in the money not the customer which was supported by his next action he then charged me for new fittings it blows my mind. Now I have little to no suction and air getting into the line and I am loosing water a lot of water I told them about that and they wanted to send someone out to the house and charge me 135.00 an hr from the time they leave there shop until they get back. All just to tell me what I already know. There statement to me was people blame us for every thing, well I don't know about that but when I hire you to do something and it is followed by nothing but problems, it's probably your fault not mine.
