We went to them asking for a hot tub within our budget and they were able to get the right hot tub for us, their recommendations were top notch They guys delivered it to my back patio flawlessly; it is a very precarious destination due the narrow steps. I hired these people to install a new liner in my in round 20x44 pool. It was very expensive (more than their average competition in the area) but having used them before for the same job 12 years ago they did a great job so i bit the bullet and hired them again. First there were material delays, then substitute materials were used then they installed in late Fall only to have to uninstall and wait 2 weeks more as the first liner was defective. I should have seen the warning right then as a bad omen. Two weeks later they installed the liner I have now, we balanced the water and closed up for the season. We opened without a problem in late spring. Everything looked fine or so we thought until a closer look a day or so after opening and taking the first swim. We noticed the liner pulled free form the coping in several places and not securely tucked in other places. Called and they sent a team to re-stretch the liner and jam some plastic shims between the liner bead and the coping to keep it in place. Not happy with that it seemed to be fine and I was assured this is what those plastic shims are for and we were only lucky to never have had to use them before. All good now - or so we thought. A few weeks later it was time for the first nite time use. We are now into July. Once we turned on the in pool light we saw numerous wrinkles in the liner. These are on the wall in the deep end that slopes down into the dive envelope. Upon contacting them with pictures they did send someone to look but unfortunately due to the liner patters you can not see them by day. Long story short its now months later (august) and they finally contacted me today with an answer full of excuses ranging form high ground water table causing water pockets in the corners under the liner to a host of other possibilities. . Well that must have come from some page in their excuses book because the last time I checked water runs downhill thanks to gravity. My wrinkles are mid wall in a vertical wall sloped downgrade to the deep dive pocket and NOT in any corners. They further explained the integrity of the pool is fine and while they can not explain it its not their fault but they will be glad to fix because they do not want me unhappy. All I have to do is agree to pay for new water and all labor and materials for whatever time it takes to uninstall and reinstall the liner . Oh how generous of them you might think at a glance. WRONG! Anyone who knows a tid-bit about liners knows you can not drain it and re stretch it especially when stairs and a pool side light are cut into it. so toss in insult upon injury as they treat you like an idiot. Oh and also if it leaks or fails in anyway its not warrantied and on me to cough up the repair cost for new vinyl. Still think its a generous offer? Its really nothing more than the flip of a double bird over a nothing sandwich. They are doing nothing for nothing and I have to assume all the risks and costs. Now working mechanically myself for years I'm no fool. M y pool is 27,000 gallons of water over a mason bottom and galvanized frame and concrete footings. It is set in bank run soil with excellent draining strategically placed where perk test prior to install proved no water table issues and proved excellent downward drainage. The pool is up grade of a flood plain, drainage canal and retention pond to handle any ground water should any become a high level. All of these have been bone dry all year. Its not a high water table issue. It is however clearly a shotty installation where the air was not adequately vacated during the install and compounded by insufficient stretching at installation thus causing the spring need to come back in the first place. in short they basically told me they wont fix it unless I pay for it and if the fix fails a new liner would be required at my expense. They use to provide quality service and like others have stated at premium prices . Now while the premium prices remains true the quality has went poopy on the bed sheets! Defiantly not worth calling them at any price now days. Their quality care has vanished and while thy are nice to talk to they are politely very clear as to they just don't care because once the bill is paid you own it. Bottom line - My advice - when it comes to Rainbow if your in the market for anything pool do your best Forest Gump imitation and RUN FOREST RUN!! Avoid them like the black plague. Quality customer care and workmanship has set sail as I believe so has the original owners I hear. This rainbow is clearly after YOUR pot of gold at any cost and cares not about quality. read more

While waiting for them to get other supplies I checked prices on Amazon where I can get 6 Hayward brand o-rings for $16. We need to give an overdue high review to Cody. We purchased an 800 dollar pool filter just over a year ago. Well, it conked out. Brought it in and we were told it was under warranty but on back order and we could have a less efficient model in its place. Seeing the look of disappointment in our faces, Cody said "let me take a look and see if I can diagnose the issue". He did more than that: he fixed it. I have been going to Rainbow for a few years now. The staff is always so friendly when walking in, knowledgeable, and patient with all my questions. It was taking weeks to open my pool this year on my own, Kevin took about 15min to explain what to do with the filter, demonstrated it on the in store display filter, and I was able to get my pool crystal clear in a few days. The products they use are top notch and they always give a print out with instructions on what to do with the filter. read more

Went in on Saturday to inquire about winterizing my in ground pool. The sales rep went to find someone to help us, returned and asked if "we (Rainbow) installed the pool". We said, "no" and she went back to speak with her boss. She then came back to us and said "...unfortunately, we're not able to take you on as a customer because we didn't install your pool and it's not a top priority... if you're still interested, maybe we can try to fit you in sometime around late November..." So i guess then, that no one should bother going in there for chemicals or any other pool supplies because they didn't "install your pool"! There are a few businesses up here in Dutchess County that have been around for a long time like Rainbow and Botini Fuel Oil. In speaking with some of their representatives/sales people, they come across with an attitude as if they're the only game in town! Wrong! I hope to see these pompous jerks at one of the local Home Shows when they try slipping me literature while passing by. Too bad there isn't a negative star rating here. I'd give it to them! This year we were plagued with staining on our fiberglass pool. After several attempts at correcting this problem by using the internet to no avail, we called Kevin at Rainbow Pools. He immediately started working on the staining problem. We visited Kevin daily with our pool water as it had to be within very specific guidelines in order foe the stain treatment to work. Recently visited Rainbow Pools for Opening Chemicals and parts for my Filter/Pump and Polaris. The parts I needed were hard to find and it didn't help that I was not the best with the descriptions. But that didn't stop the young retail associate Scott who was able to find all the parts that I needed and was also able to give me the proper pool chemicals. I was in and out of the store in under 10 minutes. Scott did an amazing job with finding me those parts and now my pool is crystal clear and running smoothly thanks to him. He seemed very knowledgeable as did the rest of the staff (who were all assisting other customers). Expierences like this are what keep me coming to the store. Which is why I'm rating this store a 5. i do not usually write bad reviews but i must make people aware of my experiences with this place. i moved into the area in 2005, got a simple 18 foot round above ground pool. i purchased a heater as well for the pool. i wanted a company to open and close my pool because at that time i had little knowledge of what to do. i chose rainbow pools simply because they were close to home. for the first few years the only thing negative about them was that they were very expensive by i figured if they do a good job thats ok. one time i forgot to turn off the pool pump switch when i went on vacation. i called and asked them if in their travels could they just turn it off being they are only a short distance away. they did and i received a bill for over $100. i believe. as we got into 2012 i noticed that the staff they were sending was not of the quality they originally sent. i had several really bad issues with them, one time when they were setting up the pool for the season they forgot to close a value and all the water i paid for leaked out of the pool. other times simple things such as not tightening hoses correctly. in the spring of 2014 i noticed that my pool sand filter was completely busted open and ruined. it was obvious that it exploded because rainbow did not blow out the water properly when putting it away the previous fall. it was very hard to get them to replace what they had broken. first they tried to replace it with a much smaller unit. then after calling them many times they replaced it with the proper size filer. when they installed it they installed it at an angle which was almost 45 degrees. obviously it did not work correctly. several of the times that they returned to do things to the pool because the filter was not installed right i was charged which i paid. this spring i looked at my pool and the whole wall of the pool was ripped, the liner was ripped and there was tons of ice around the perimeter of the pool. this made my pool useless and i will have to replace it at great cost to me. even though i can't prove that rainbow did not put the proper antifreeze into the pool i had pool people look at it and they seemed to think that was the case. as you can see i have had much trouble and aggravation from rainbow. i am now very well versed about pools and could not believe the the poor quality of work rainbow did to me and how bad the techs were. i went through all last season not being able to see the bottom of the pool after they installed the new filter. now to top things off i just received a letter from rainbow basically telling me that they have reconstructed the service dept and do not want to service me any longer. after reading all of the facts i leave it up to you to make up your own mind of what they were pulling. as i said in the beginning i do not like to trash anyone but i feel that our local residents should be made aware of my experiences. one last thing at no time during all these problems that i had with them did any owner from rainbow ever call me to apologize or help in any way. they have gone through several people who you speak to in the service dept. i just hope that i can afford to get another pool as we need it for health problems. read more

For over 20 years I had been dealing with rainbow pools but the last 4 years were awful! Their maintenance crew for installation and repair have caused me many problems. I have had to bring in other sources to correct their serious mistakes. How awful that their rating from me has gone down from a 5 to a 1. Actually, I have a hard time giving them that!
