We stopped by Orange Glory before touring Sibley Music Library, as it seemed like a wonderful spot for a healthy, tasty lunch. They absolutely didn't disappoint! We were a large group (12), and the staff were wonderfully patient and flexible as we poached chairs to sit together in their dining room. The portions were substantial, especially for the price, and I was very happy with the eggplant and chickpea burger. Friends also enjoyed some of the daily specials, and the cookies were lovely! At the recommendation of other reviews I chose the potato salad and lemon cookie to complete my "boxed lunch" meal, and both were delicious. The potato salad was a unique take on a classic, done with roasted potatoes, light but hearty. I'll definitely be back next time I'm looking for lunch near Eastman School of Music! read more

We have been to Orange Glory many times for lunch and always enjoyed the food. When it came time to choose a caterer for my sister's baby shower lunch they came to mind as a potential winner. We investigated several options and found Jackie so easy to work with. She really understood the garden party vibe we were going for and came up with an awesome menu. We had 5 types of tea sandwiches, fennel & celeriac slaw, roasted potato salad, fruit, and a selection of their homemade scones & accoutrements which were *to die for.* They plated everything beautifully and delivered it all on time to the shower location. Finally I ate something here other than their superb cookies. We were downtown and in the area during lunch (that is the only time they are open) so we stopped in. There are only 5 or 6 small tables but we were able to get a place to eat. It wasn't too crowded - the cold weather probably stopped people from leaving their offices for lunch. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich with cranberries on a raisin bread - it was very good. My wife got the chickpea sandwich - she liked it a lot. $8 per sandwich seemed like a fair price. Orange Glory is my absolute favorite sandwich shop in town. It's so good that I think it might be a top 5 restaurant in Rochester overall. It's the perfect lunch spot, with a variety of delicious sandwich offerings. An added bonus is that they have numerous vegetarian options (ie. lentil, mushroom artichoke, black bean, eggplant chickpea) that are all mouth-watering good. As an ardent carnivore, I must admit that I don't miss meat at all when it comes to Orange Glory's sandwiches. The veggie burgers are packed with flavor. Not only are they delicious, but the portions are generous. Orange Glory has a small, but interesting menu. They have vegan and vegetarian options. Their lentil burger is excellent. They also have several options for dessert such as cookies, scones and such. There are usually a few tables outside to eat when the weather is nice. We've been here several times and have used them for a lunch catering event. They're excellent to work with and their prices are pretty good, considering their food is very fresh. I'm only giving it 4 stars because the staff are not very friendly. I don't usually mind this as long as the food is good but when you take the time to ask questions about their menu, they seem as if you're inconveniencing them. I was so happy to see that Orange Glory was open today! This place is truly one of the best restaurants in the East End neighborhood. It's a small space. The bright, orange interior and the colorful decor keep it from feeling cramped. There are 5 - 6 tables and a couple of mini banquettes available for seating. A small area is roped off during the warmer months where you can dine Al Fresco if you so choose. The food here is excellent. They have a variety of sandwiches available that are made with locally sourced, organic ingredients for all tastes vegan and carnivorous. A number of sides are available which rotate daily. Homemade cookies are made fresh daily. Today I had the Chicken Cutlet Club made with a hefty piece that didn't feel like a cutlet - AT ALL. It was fried in a light egg batter and included bacon, roaster red peps, arugala, and a smoky, sriracha aioli topped by a brioche bun - warmed by a panini press. This dish was truly satisfying and oh so good! I opted for the lunch box which includes a side and a cookie. I chose the Sesame Noodles made with sweet bell peppers, celery, shaved carrots and ground white pepper. It's dryer than what you normally get from traditional fast food Asian establishments - and that's for the better! A nice complement to the sandwich. A Cranberry Oatmeal cookie rounded out my amazing meal. Drinks include Nantucket Nectars, Honest Teas, Coke products in cans and water. The staff here is great. They'll explain every sandwich in detail, even when it's busy which is almost all the the time. They look like they really love what they do and it shows! You can't go wrong with this place! Finally popped into Orange Glory for the first time last week and WOW. I do not know why I have not made my way there sooner. The small shop feels cozy and the staff adds to the laid back ambiance. An eclectic variety of diners were there for lunch, from students to coworkers to "the ladies who lunch." Orange Glory can really fit into any dynamic. The food was, for the most part, crazy good. I went for the chicken salad sandwich with potato salad and a chocolate chip cookie. The bread on my sammy was absurdly good and the chicken salad is infused with cranberries. The sandwiches are huge and I had an impossible time trying to decide what to get. Next time I will try one of the awesome looking veg based burgers. My friend get the zucchini based burger (incredible) and some soup on the side. The soup is the main reason I can't give this spot 5 stars. It was an artichoke mushroom soup that was essentially flavorless and lacking substance. Maybe some of the other soups are good, but I would recommend sticking only to the sandwiches & sides since they are all not to be missed. read more

The perfect hearty, healthy lunch to-go has to go to Orange Glory. It's a tiny spot on East Ave by Little Theatre where you can easily stop in for lunch. The space is small with a few tables for seating and during the summer there are a few sidewalk tables they'll put outside. I often arrive early between 11-11:30am right when they open to place my order to avoid the lunch rush. I'm impatient when I'm hungry. Their menu rotates, but they typically have their tried and true Orange Glory classics like chicken salad, their lentil burger (my all time favorite - with spicy mayo!), or their black bean and/or quinoa burger, and one with a spinach/feta combo. Lots of options for vegetarians here! Most of them come on sandwich bread and are warmed up on the panini grill. I go for the lunch box combo deal because it comes with a side and a cookie ($10). Let me try now and convince you why you should go find the Orange Glory Café completely by yourself too. Be you a vegetarian, vegan, foodie, local business supporter or any other hot button topic support you may be, you'll find this café fast, friendly, delicious and inexpensive. I've been here twice now, and I've had the Eggplant and Chickpea Burger (huge, flavorful and makes a good case for why we should add a fourth meal to our days so we can eat more of them), and the Italian Meatball Sandwich (not 100% if was a real ball of meat, but it sure tasted like one and it was awesome). I recommend both, and for you to make it a "Lunch Box" by adding a side and a fresh, homemade cookie for $2 more. The sesame noodles are a terrific choice. As far as those cookies are concerned, I tried the chocolate chip macadamia nut (sheer perfection), and most recently I tried the chocolate chip coconut macaroon. The macaroon was sweet and crispy on the outside, buttery and filling on the inside and tasted like my mouth was making love to the Red M&M's hot sister on a tropical beach. Orange Glory's siren song all-too often beckons me to its doors, emptying my pockets of lunch money and sending me off into a passionate, semi-quiet rage for all those ahead in line who dare to plunder the last of the lemon cookies. The surly mermaids behind the glass case of beautiful and creative sandwiches, including my favorite Cauliflower burger or the Chickpea and Eggplant burger are at times tough to accept in the otherwise cheery and "glory"ous interior. But you'll be taken care of. The small inside is seriously the bright spot on the grayest of days. Its orange color and walls decorated with local artwork and roosters and the narrow line of bistro tables is a fun immersion, while you sip the water they bring you and wait for your food. I love the vegan and vegetarian options because their sandwiches and salads are so substantial in size as well as taste. The Cauliflower burger in particular is served on a seeded toast with a red pepper remoulade and field greens. It probably stands about four inches in height. Your stomach will hurt so good when you're finished. Lunchbox your sandwich or salad for $2 and you'll get your choice of a side and cookie. The side vegan Mac and Cheese is made with bowtie noodles and flecked with red pepper flakes. It eats just as comforting and maybe even heartier than the actual dairy version. The side of potato salad is like a bite of the best home fries you ever had, cold and mixed with light dressing and celery. I won't go into details of the lemon cookie, because in my mind they're all mine and you can't have them. The triple chocolate cookie is excellent, get one of those. read more

I found out about this place on Tuesday night, then popped in on Wednesday for lunch. Figured I'd get a chicken salad + cranberry sandwich to go. Sandwiched between cinnamon raisin bread, every bite brings happiness to your mouth. I brought it back to work, along with a couple cookies, and holy smokes--this food is good! They have a lot of interesting combinations that are vegetarian friendly, including the chickpea and eggplant sandwich (I got one to go and ate it for dinner). I'm a fan of you, Orange Glory. The tuna mac salad was so yummy! It looked like it could be hit or miss in the case, but it's so good! Not super heavy on the mayo, but also not dry. Now let's move to the cookies--I got a chocolate chip, and it was decent. Nothing to write home about. But then I tried the peanut butter and jelly...damn. Damn damn damn. Why am I leaving Rochester again? Oh yeah, I don't live here. Then I tried the chocolate chip macadamia nut...I don't even really like macadamia nuts, but let me tell you, I DEMOLISHED that cookie! I sampled their chocolate chip cookie - wow! It reminds me of the Wegmans ultimate chocolate chip cookie. However, I used my self control and didn't order one. The busyness, small size, and few staff members make this place a little chaotic and slow. We waited a while to get foil and bags for our leftovers and then to pay. I noticed that the outside was a bit tough where as the inside was softer. I'm not sure if the whole sandwich gets put in the microwave or just the burger because the greens on my burger were all wilted- I would have preferred the greens added on after hearing to avoid soggy greens. The taste over all of the sandwich was pretty great- I'd get it again! For my side I chose sesame noodles- loved these! I am a big Asian cuisine person and sesame flavor is one of my favs! The noodles were not dry or over cooked and had plenty of flavor! Cookie: tonssss of chocolate chips in it which is the way to go I think! I'm talkin 70% chips, 30% dough- that's my kind of chocolate chip cookie! Overall: I'd definitely come back! I want to try more of the burgers they have like quinoa and others. Downtown Rochester proper is full of many hidden gem restaurants. Often these places are there if you need them, but if you pass by just after closing, then you get to wait until your next opportunity to visit. When you're like me and you don't work downtown (or in East End, as this case may be), your chances to try these places out are few and far between.. Orange Glory Cafe is one of those places for me. Since it's right next to the Little Theatre, I've passed by too many times to count. It always looked so inviting from the outside. So on a weekday where I found myself available for lunch, I immediately remembered that Orange Glory would actually be open at a time when I could go. It turned out to be the best decision I could make because now I knew what I was missing. This is the type of place that you wouldn't guess had table service since you order at the counter, but the outdoor seating and peoplewatching opportunities were fantastic little surprises that I don't know if I would have been able to take advantage of had I not been waiting for someone to bring me my lunch. I had the perfectly spicy lentil burger for lunch and took advantage of the $2 lunchbox option for a side and cookie. Talk about glory, this cafe knows what's up with my preferences. It was as if the cafe menu had been designed just for me because there was nothing I could have been disappointed with. Why hadn't I tried this earlier? Oh, right, no work proximity and bad hours for me. This review would absolutely be five stars if the cafe was open into early evening or at least for lunch on the weekends. My roommate has been telling me to go to this place because I am a freak for anything eggplant. She recommended the eggplant chickpea sandwich. It is a small place with about 5 tables. I got the eggplant chickpea sandwich with a side salad and lemon white chocolate cookie (all for $10). I got it to-go and it took like 5 mins, very quick and I went around 12:15pm. I was expecting a thin, panini like sandwich. BOY THIS WAS A BIG SANDWICH! So flavorful and I am pretty sure the cheese on it was vegan. And for the cookie, I love any lemon dessert and this one was great! The lemon and white chocolate compliment each other perfectly with neither flavor being too much. read more

I'm really torn about Orange Glory. The food is amazing. The service and response is questionable, unfortunately. So, I'm at about a 3.5 star right now... with potential to be 5 star. Catering-wise: I've emailed and called a few times to inquire about catering and never heard back. I still love the food and wouldn't want to write the place off completely, so a couple coworkers and I went to get take-out for lunch. It wasn't until we got back to our office that two of us realized our boxed lunches were completely wrong. I ordered a lentil burger, oatmeal cookie, and salad and was handed a mushroom burger and a lemon cookie. Still paid $10 without getting the complete "boxed lunch" deal. Again, the food is amazing regardless so it's not the end of the world... just super bummed. (I was really looking forward to that oatmeal cookie!) Coworker got the wrong burger, wrong drink, and no cookie. Suggestion: take customer's names down and write them on the to-go bags so you're not handing people the wrong lunch. Sigh, I hate writing a slightly negative review but just feeling super bummed at the lack of responsiveness about catering and now a messed up take-out order. I've heard great things about the food as well - but unfortunately I was in a rush to run errands on my lunch and didn't have time to indulge in the bigger menu. I grabbed my cookie to go, dug in and was amazed. When you think of chocolate chip cookies, most people ask about the chips, the chewyness, the cross-section. To me, the thing that stuck out the most, and made me know beforehand that this was going to take my taste buds on a trip to another dimension; was the smell. The aroma of a chocolate chip cookie is not something often focused on in a weekly meeting of cookie connoisseurs (unfortunately not a real thing, not yet) , it is often overlooked. We've been here a few times now and immensely enjoy each visit to Orange Glory Cafe. On our first time here, our order included a black bean burger and a lamb burger. Following that initial visit, we've had the chickpea / eggplant and the turkey sandwiches too. Each were incredibly good and even better than we could have expected. It is worth the upgrade to include a side along with a cookie. We typically order greens for the side which are served with a vinegarette dressing. Their cookies are some of the best that I've had in Rochester and they do offer samples if you're there. My favorite of their cookies are the peanut butter and the snickerdoodle. As far as cuisine goes, Orange Glory has the sandwich market cornered in the area and that says a lot considering the sheer number of cafes in the neighborhood. However, This could be slightly biased because I'm impressed with the number of vegetarian options that they offer. The waitresses were both really kind and attentive when dining in the cafe. The eatery, itself, is very small so I prefer takeout as opposed to dining in. If in the area, it's a nice restaurant to try out. read more
