Tana is the worst bartender I've ever encountered. My sister, brother-in-law, and myself traveled all day from New England to Wisconsin excited to try the orange moose. We sat right at the bar. We were ignored for over 20 minutes. These locals noticed we were being actively ignored by Tana. Tana then told us she had so many orders ahead of us. Everyone at the bar had a beer in their hands, she was not busy with other orders, she was doing nothing. The locals from earlier across the way asked what we wanted. We told them our order. Tana went over to them and they said "those young ladies want a reds and a beer." She opened it put it in front of us and walked away. I have never been so mistreated by a person in my life. For someone who is in the service industry and I am confused. Tana has issues and should not work with people if this is how she treats people. Do not come to the orange moose. read more

Waited for 25 minutes to get a drink after a 10 minute wait to even meet out waitress. No salads at the salad bar and no bowls at the salad bar for soup. Manager more worried about seating more victims and counting tips in side dining room. Then without washing hands handles utensils. We are out of here and suggest you avoid this pit. read more

Where do I even begin... Service: HORRIBLE, WOW, I was stunned. 1. We arrived at Orange Moose for dinner. Sign at the hostess stand said wait to be seated, turns out the bartender is also the hostess. Okay no worries. We're seated. 2. Our server, Elizabeth arrives and immediately she has a terrible attitude, throwing menus onto the table. We ask if they have a drink menu, her response "I don't know, you can look at the bar, but I don't know." The BF, his mom and I look at each other like is this real life...Whatever, we each order a beer which takes about 12 minutes. WHY?! Oh because the bartender is also the hostess and a server. 3. Elizabeth finally brings our drinks. We ask if we can put in an order for an appetizer. Her response "No, I have to put in all the orders at once." We explain that's fine as we know what we want for our entrees, but would like to make sure the appetizer comes out first. She says okay she will "try." What does that even mean... 4. Fifteen minutes later...there comes the food. ALL OF IT. Our appetizer and our entrees. We point out that we asked for the appetizer first, Elizabeth let's out a big sigh and says "I KNOW I KNOW." At this point I wanted to smack her across the face for the blatant disrespect. 5. We point out that the appetizer, popcorn shrimp, is missing fries. Elizabeth's response, "You didn't ask for fries". I inform her that the menu says it comes with fries, again she sticks to her original response before asking if we want fries. We say yes...but hey they don't arrive until we're done eating, plus based on her attitude I was afraid to even touch them. Who knows what she could have done to the food to spite us. 6. Time for the check. Elizabeth does a 180. I kid you not, her attitude immediately changed especially when she realized I was taking care of the bill. Clearly hoping to salvage what little tip she may get. Food: WOW, dogs probably have better quality food than what this establishment serves 1. The popcorn shrimp and fries appetizer...arrived without fries. According to this place you have to specify you want what the menu lists or it may or may not happen. 2. BF and his mom ordered burgers : Frozen patties, sad excuses for a burger 3. Salad bar: Pretty sure that is a health hazard, warm salads being served 4. Gyro sandwich : OMG WHAT WAS THIS MESS?!? WHY IS IT ON THE MENU. Our experience at the Orange Moose was so horrible that it's actually quite comical thinking back. I'd rather drink the water and eat whatever fish has been tossed into the nearby pond by Black River Falls county than ever give this establishment my time or money again. Please, if you experience this same behavior with Elizabeth, smack her, maybe even three times, two on my behalf. I'm starting to feel like all of my Yelp reviews are negative. This is mainly because I think to write a review when I have a particularly bad experience. I should write some more positive ones as well though. Unfortunately, this is not one of those. We were on a long drive home from Ontario to Chicago and stopped at the Orange Moose to stay in the hotel over night. After checking in we went to the Orange Moose bar and grill for some beer and something to eat. I'll keep this review short - but this was one of the craziest experiences I have had in a foodservice establishment EVER. The beer selection was good, the food selection was good, the atmosphere was good, but the management and service was AWFUL. Two reasons I say this: 1) The bartender was downright hostile and seemed like every order we placed was a HUGE chore. 2) While at the bar, an elderly man choked on his food. Luckily, someone sitting with him quickly performed the Hiemlich maneuver on him and the obstruction was cleared. However, it was cleared all over the floor and his chair (as in, he horked up whatever he was choking on all over everything). The poor, coughing, sputtering man was embarrassed and left his food sitting there as he excused himself, paid his tab, and went to his room. We waited for the expected response: housekeeping to come clean the bodily fluids up and a manager to make sure everything was alright. We saw neither. After 30 minutes, nothing had been cleaned and no manager ever materialized. Eventually, new people showed up and sat right where the old man was sitting (blissfully unaware of what they were sitting in). After seeing that, we closed our tab and ordered a pizza for delivery instead. Good hotel, scary management. read more

Perfect roadside food I happened upon while doing a trip between Chicago and Minneapolis (this place is right off of I94). I got the cod sandwich (lightly battered & lovely) with soup/salad bar and my wife got a huge taco salad, and the bill was a whopping $10.55! The food was great, server was super friendly and it was a nice relaxing atmosphere to take a breather during a drive during a not-so-fun winter storm. I give props to the salad bar in particular -- while small, everything it it was super fresh and delicious with particularly great dressing. And the entire place had a nice homey charm to it. read more

If you find yourself in need of a non-McDonalds/Subway/Culver's break while driving between Chicago and Minneapolis, stop at the Orange Moose! They grab your attention with the giant orange moose in front, and then trap you in with their Orange Moose Ale (local brew). It was a homey-looking restaurant, with a log cabin feel to it. Prices were good and they keep the beer flowing. I went with a group of 6 during our road trip and every single one of us got cheese curds and the fish fry. Those were some excellent curds (a must-eat in Wisconsin) and the fish was really good and a good portion. Even if your not hungry, take a break on your road trip and take a pic with the giant orange moose!!! read more

Bad food all around. Mystery white stuff came with my taco salad. It may have been mayonnaise (instead of sour cream). If it was mayo, it was cheap and flavorless. We also ordered a prime rib sandwich greasy, soggy just gross. Mystery dressing with my combo platter, but the wings and curds were decent. Guy next to me also was confused by the white mystery dressing that came with his wrap. Over all, I'd suggest come here for some cocktails but head to Perkins to eat. read more

OMG, WTF happened to Orange moose, i haven't been their in a year but the hotel totally went down the crapper! i get their and NO cars are in parking lot, which was odd, but ok, i check in, although the person was nice, he had NO personality whatsoever, ok..whatever - i find out no restaurant anymore only a bar, i get to my room which smelled bad looked bad and had a quarter of a roll of toilet paper with no back up, I am a BEST WESTERN Member and this was a disgrace , i will NOT be going back, the management has CLEARLY given up! Oh yeah and Time to upgrade the Cable to HD because the TV is already small but to get a NON HD Picture on everything makes the screen Smaller .. COME ON MAN this 2019! read more

very very bad service, bartender hates life and everything and anyone around her, she had a bad attitude and didn't really care for people, I've been to this bar twice in the last two years and both times had the same bartender, both times having the same experience with the same bartender. she was impatient, rude, and quite frankly horrible at her job, she was rude to everyone that she came in contact with, like we the customers were a burden to her. our group did in fact spend a good amount of money on drinks but never left a tip and honestly we didn't even feel bad! not only did the bar loose us as customers the adjoining hotel has as well. read more

I waited in anticipation for my BBQ chicken sandwich for nearly 40 minutes to be greeted with what appeared to be a warehouse club grade precooked chicken breast, what appeared to be run-of-the-mill "great value" BBQ, and Sysco's finest oil-drenched French fries. This meal was complimented with very thin, watery generic ketchup. The "soup and salad bar" - which cost $2.49 extra, consisted of a few scraps of green lettuce floating in water. That being said, the food was hot and fully cooked through. Service was slow, but very friendly. The Bleu Cheese dressing was a pleasant surprise, and by that I mean that I was glad it was Bleu Cheese, because it wasn't labeled and I took a guess...but it was tasty. Maybe I caught them on an off night or need to try another dish, but I feel like I should've gone across the way to Perkins instead. read more

We thought the name of this place was quite clever and it was attached to the Best Western hotel we were staying in but we left disappointed for sure. Service was lackluster. Menu was limited, uncreative and very expensive for what you get. Pasta dish was $12 plus another $3 or $4 if you wanted meat added. My taco salad at $9 was awful. Meat was lukewarm, there was hardly any lettuce in it at all, and the shell was small, puffy and hard to bite into because it was soggy. Server wore black top and apron spotted with food stains. This place is attached to the Best Western Arrowhead, which is a slum and I rated as terrible. The Orange Moose was no better. The Orange Moose is a bar and grill, but just barely. The bar portion was small and smelled funny. The alcohol selection was decent, and there were decent beers on tap. Unfortunately, someone else before me got the beer that I wanted, and they were out when I wanted my beer. This showed poor inventory control, or just laziness from them not wanting to change a keg. I sat down with several friends at a table in the dining area. The bartender knew we were there. After 10 minutes, someone came over to take our order. It took just shy of 30 minutes before our food finally came out. Keep in mind that we were the only ones in there. Standard target time for food at a place like this should be 12 minutes from the time of order. When the food was delivered, we ordered more drinks. The food was lukewarm, and obviously had been sitting around on a counter for a while. The food consisted of typical greasy-spoon fare of sandwiches and burgers with fries and such. The sandwiches and other foods were literally dripping with grease. The burgers were all made from frozen patties and were cooked until over-done and dry. The burgers were very chewy and disgusting. The fries were soggy and somewhat stale tasting. It was obvious that everything they cooked was frozen or multiple days old. I finished my meal and was sitting around for 5-10 minutes before the server reappeared. We actually went looking for her, but never found her. She asked if we wanted our bills, to which we reminded her that we had all ordered drinks about 20+ minutes earlier. She gave a half-hearted apology and offered to get them. We told her to cancel the order and bring us our checks. 5 minutes went by and still nothing. One guy in my party saw her and flagged her down and advised her that we needed to leave and needed our bills ASAP. She had forgotten. So several minutes later, we finally got our bills. After getting our change or receipts, we left without tipping. I rarely do not tip, so it has to be bad for me to not leave one. There was no manager, terrible service, and horrible food. This place is exactly like the hotel it's connected to-a rat hole. If you want decent food, go further south on I-94 to Tomah and find something there. BIgger city with more options. read more

I was served at the bar by a very pleasant woman named Vicky(the bartender), the restaurant was busy as it was a "fish Friday" but she took my order promptly and got my beer. As I waited for my food she was engaging and friendly, asking me about my visit to Wisc. and my family,etc. She explained they were busy in the kitchen and that my order may take some time and I said it was ok. But shortly after, there was my order, fresh and piping hot, it was a very pleasant evening and I was well taken care of by Vicky and the waitresses. Abysmal service - and that's being generous. When we arrived, we had made reservations a few days in advance, and were told our reservation he never been taken. It took nearly an hour and a half for our food to arrive, and once it did, most of our order was wrong. In a party of ten, two orders were not received until well after the others. Another individual ordered a burger and the bun was literally a soggy slab of grease. I ordered the pasta Alfredo and wouldn't recommend it to anyone, as the noodles were over cooked and sauce was of very poor quality. The entire place was understaffed (1 waitress, 1 cook, 0 bartender, 0 hostess) and there were six tables of people having a similar experience to ours. In order to get drink refills, the waitress had to pull a woman working the hotel desk into the restaurant. We certainly had a very poor experience and would recommend looking for a meal elsewhere! read more

This place is horrible!!! We waited over an hour for our sandwiches (BLT). When it finally got there, it wasn't even made right. There was no tomato, but the worst thing about this place is the service. All the waitress said about the tomato was "oh". Really?! We were there for about 2 hours, and the waitress came to our table a total of 3 times. The only time she was nice was when it was time for her to collect her tips. I used to work here- at that time it was a good place to get a decent meal. I don't know what happened after I stopped working there.. I went back once just for nostalgia's sake and I will never go back. Ever. My brother and I decided to go for a couple of drinks. We had plenty of bar space, we placed our drinks order and I put 20 dollars on the bar. The drinks arrived and the bartender asked us for our money. Keep in mind, the only people at this area of the bar at this time were myself, my brother, and the bartender. but my money disappeared. I told the bartender I had put my money on the bar, and she got very surly. After a thorough search of the area, the money did not turn up. I placed another 20 dollars on the bar just to pay. (6.00 for a jack and coke? REALLY?!) I once again confronted the bartender, inquiring as to whether she could have mistakenly taken the original 20$ when she had cleared away some glasses from nearby. She got even more surly with us. I cannonballed the most expensive jack and coke I've ever had, left nothing for a tip and left. The following day I called and asked to speak with the manager about the attitude of the bartender and the missing money. The manager also got very surly with me, but said that they would check the security tapes and get back to me. I never got a call back. I don't want to say that I got robbed, but it certainly seemed and felt like i did. It's really too bad. It used to be a nice place. read more

Service was great, our waiter timed his stop by's so that we always got our refills, napkins, condiments when needed, but didn't feel like he was constantly hovering over us. Food was pretty solid and decently priced. Environment was alright; unique, but not bad or great. Beer selection was thin, but good priced as well and had what I wanted. Overall great experience.
