A letter to my Optometrist, Dear Doctor Navarro, who found the papilledema early this year. I want to thank you for being the catalyst in my IIH journey thus far. Sometimes, ordinary people just doing their jobs make the biggest waves. December of last year, I had my eye exam with you as as my new Optometrist. At first, I was overwhelmed and scared. There was so many unknowns ahead of me that were brand new. I felt like I was thrown in the deep end of a pool and had to sink or swim. I was suddenly thrust into a new world of CT scans and MRIs. I remember the first time I arrived at the Gavin Herbert Eye Institute at UC Irvine. I felt like an Olympic athlete running the gauntlet of eye tests. I remember the first time the doctor talked about a lumbar puncture. I never thought I'd ever be strong enough to handle one. I don't believe in random chance or coincidence. I believe everything that has happened this year with my eyes is divinely orchestrated by God. Nothing takes Him by surprise. Though I'm beginning to put together the pieces of this puzzle in this new season of life, there is still many things I have yet to uncover and learn. I've learned to not suffer in my feelings alone, but rather, invite God into them. He holds me steady through my fears, my questions, my highs and my lows. My worship is the same whether I'm at home, in church or in the exam room. I'm praise Him during my MRIs. He has been my perfect peace that surpasses understanding when I had my lumbar puncture last month for the first time. If I could give zero stars I would but unfortunately I cannot and either way it wouldn't make a difference to the staff or the doctor. Today, November 13th at around 12:23pm, I brought my mom to the office once again to pick up the pair of glasses we had left to be fixed from my last review. You remember right, staff? After all I am sure you'll be reading this review too. Anyways I waited in the car as it was supposed to be a simple pick up. Though as soon as my mom came back to the car she notified me that y'all weren't too happy with my last review. As soon as she walked in, she was immediately asked if we had written a review, my mom answered that we had and she let me know that the staff immediately changed their demeanor and began attacking my mom about it. Saying that the review I, me as in myself had written was nothing but lies. To be completely honest I don't think that's okay. What I review about this place shouldn't affect how other people are treated, especially when they didn't write it. Anyways, it's not like I get any benefit from "lying" since the staff sees nothing wrong with the way they run their business and act. Not like they'll improve their service, since if they wanted to they already would have. My mom was treated rudely in front of two other patients. For what? Over a review she didn't even write herself. Afterwards she was told that we couldn't go back to this office since they were refusing service over the review. Interesting that even though you are part of customer service...you don't seem to respect your clients or be open to their thoughts. If you didn't want reviews...either don't make a yelp or step up your service. By the looks of that 3.1 rating, I am not the only one who thinks this. Also, we came in to check on the glasses we were waiting for since we never received a call from your office letting us know that they were ready for pick up. We weren't rude at all when we dropped off the glasses and I know because I was there. We didn't complain at all to you. We wrote the review after we had left. Then today you told my mom that Dr. Navarro was the one who said he would refuse service to us. I never complained about him and honestly I don't think we were ever rude. Both, the staff and the doctor were rude to my mother and disrespected her in front of your other clients. She let you know that she would have me write another review and you said, "Do whatever you want." Well here we are. I am writing another review only 10 days after the other one. Disappointing really, can't wait to hear you call us liars again. Hope anyone else that decides to come here gets better service. Coming from someone who also works in customer service. read more

I've tried to be happy with this place. After waiting for almost 4 months for my new eye contacts, they come in and are a totally wrong prescription. So they offer to "redo" my eye exam. Then they order a new pair. I check their hours online and on my only day off during the week- I show up at 9 (when they say they are open...) at 9:10 they finally roll up their doors to put a sign on the door that they are having a "meeting"- as she is putting the sign up- I asked if there is any way she can grab me my contacts- and no of course not- because they have a meeting. If you have an issue or there's a mix up, don't get expect much help! And that's when customers arrive should shine when there's a problem and they should make an effort to correct! To: Dr. Narvarro Orange Plaza Optometry 458 Orange Street Redlands CA 92374 From: Ms. Banks My visit on Thur. 10/19/23 was less than satisfactory so I won't be using your services in the future. I asked for the arms of my glasses to be heated & bent so they will fit tighter but what I received instead was the left arm loose as if the screws had been removed & I guess that's why it took longer for the glasses to be returned to me than they should. Neither of the arms was loose when I gave it to you they just need to be bent back & adjusted. The Dr. had the audacity to tell me this is normal wear & tear. I was asked to sign a form stating that you won't be held responsible if the glasses are damaged while adjusting them but I have never had a problem in the past when they were adjusted so this was new to me. There was no need to not give me my glasses back in the same condition that you found them in bc I was prepared to order new glasses that day as I always do after the examination so why make my old ones less than satisfactory when they are still valuable to me & I can still use them. I paid $400 for them & I expect them to last longer than two years. I also asked the assistant can I buy a cleaning cloth & soft case I need an extra one & instead of giving it to me free she wanted to charge me $9 now to me that's greed. I've been to shops where they just give it to you as a caveat for being a faithful loyal customer which I consider myself to be bc as long as I get good service I will keep coming back. You don't keep parts of glasses around so you can help replace parts & this is less than satisfactory to me bc selling me new glasses with no support for repairs when needed is not enough. I was obsessed with my previous optometrist in Norco, but he recently retired, so I was stressed out about finding a replacement. It took me a long time going through reviews to decide to go here. They got me in very quickly for my exam. My optometrist was not only extremely thorough, but also has a wonderful personality. I ADORE the staff that works here. I cannot say enough good things about them. Nichole and Ruth are so incredibly helpful, and patient. It turns out that I I am basically blind, and Need bifocals. I had a lot of questions and they were gentle and thorough. They gave me my best options and explained everything to me in great detail. I ordered two pairs of glasses and they came back super fast. Dr. Navarro always seems upset and has lost his patience and compassion towards his patients. My kids visited his office 8 years ago and I swore we would never return. I decided to give him another shot with my son and had my husband take him without me. My husband had no prior knowledge of my past experiences with Dr. Navarro. Sadly, his attitude has not changed. He has lost our business. Dr.Navarro read my review and refused to order my son's glasses that he prescribed yesterday. I went today with my mom because she went to go pick up her contacts and do her training. My mom and I were talking to Ruth and Laura and they were both so kind and informative. My glasses needed to be tightened up. I had gone come a month before and the person who helped me that day said there wasn't anything that could be done to be fixed, but Ruth made it possible. While we were waiting we were taking to Laura and she was able to squeeze me in for appointment that is going to be in less than a week! My family and I have been coming here for years, but these wonderful ladies did amazing. Thank you for everything! read more

I have lived in the IE for a little over 13 years now. I've tried several different optometrists, from Wal-Mart to independents in Yucaipa, Redlands, and Loma Linda. I've never been 100% satisfied with the clarity and comfort of the contact lenses dispensed at these other optometrists, but I've settled, they were "close enough". Gotta tell you, I have NEVER had such a precise, detailed exam, where the doctor and staff were so exacting. I CANNOT BELIEVE how clear my vision is with this prescription, and the comfort of the Bausch and Lomb Ultra lenses is incredible. I've been wearing contacts since 1979. With these lenses I swear I cannot feel a thing in my eyes...totally undetectable, and the clarity is unbelievable. I highly recommend Orange Plaza Optometry. Do not shop at this doctors office they have terrible customer service I had my fiancé pick up my glasses prescription and my glasses they gave him a prescription he said I'm here for glasses as well and they said they didn't have any. I then had to drive there and magically they had glasses available. I told them I was in a hurry and I was I got to my car tried them on and the glasses instantly gave me a headache and they were crooked they then told me I was not allowed to return them. If I were you I wouldn't shop here just to not get greeted when you walk in and have terrible customer service. I've never experienced such a weird environment and the eye doctors office was all dusty and not clean. read more

My daughter had an appointment today and I'm not sure where to start! First , they have no public restroom, your a medical professional how is that not offered? If it is due to covid then you should just not be open for business at all. Having small children that need to use the restroom and we have to leave to go next door to the grocery store is very inconvenient! Secondly, They have two chairs, yes TWO chairs. There where about 10 people in there this afternoon and they were all standing. 3rd, The front desk staff is absolutely horrible!!!!! You didn't feel welcomed at all. So dry and not friendly, they honestly look absolutely miserable! The vibe of the office is totally like them UNCOMFORTABLE. This alone made me want to walk out but my daughter needed to be seen and they were the only local office able to see us the same day. The Dr him self was ok. Very quiet and not friendly. Prices seem to be a little higher then most other offices but like I said we needed same day so I was willing to eat that. Lastly, the selection of frames were horrible. They have all name brand posters along there wall yet not one brand was in there for purchase...Gucci, Prada etc. we took our RX and had it filled at another optometric office. I just hope the RX is accurate and my daughter has a clear view. First and last time here. read more

I genuinely wanted to like this clinic, it's so close to my house and the sad part is the doctor himself is great but his front desk staff need help with customer service. I have been here twice. The first time, I called and the man who sits in the front made my appointment. I showed up and had the pleasure *sarcasm af* of dealing with this man. Not only did he not make my appointment because he couldn't find my name in the system for the day (he tried to say I must've called somewhere else but there's no other eye doctors in this plaza and it was clearly his voice, it's very distinct) but he told me they only accept IEHP, and I have Molina. And he definitely said it in a snarky, condescending way. So whatever, I tuck my tail in and leave. Then I try to call the Medi-cal number where they can tell you the closest provider to you, and who do they give me yet again? Daniel Navarro. I call and make a second appointment. I ask very specifically if they accept Molina and the lady in the front said yes, just to bring my card so I set up the second appointment. It took 50 minutes to be seen, but besides that, they didn't want to give me my full prescription. I asked for my PD (pupillary distance) so I could buy glasses online and the woman at the front desk with glasses told me I couldn't have it. When I asked why, she said they only measure it when I'm being fitted for glasses at THEIR clinic and can't give it to me unless I want glasses through them. I explained that I would be buying glasses online (since I have Medi-cal and can't afford your $900 glasses anyways??) and she went to ask the original front desk man who was rude and of course he said no. Not only does Walmart give me my PD but they have much better service, which is crazy to even say. I will not come here ever again and I will tell ANYONE WHO WILL LISTEN about the way they treat their customers who have Medi-cal. No one deserves to be treated second class and the last place you should fear judgment is the eye doctor of all places. EDIT: Your response furthers the notion that apparently everyone at this clinic is snarky and condescending. Why withhold a measurement? What benefit do you get from this besides not having my money spent there? Why are you an eye doctor then? Are you there to do the basics and make people feel stupid? Most doctors love helping people, which is why they're in the field they're in but this just proves you don't care about anything more than money. And yes, your glasses are $900 lol. The woman who was rude at the front desk was arguing pretty loudly with an older woman about why her glasses were so expensive and she let everyone in the room know they were $900. But, it's okay. You have bad reviews anyways and I probably should've checked Yelp first. Hope something changes in the near future read more

I'm not that pleased with what I received from this company. I paid over $600.00 for a pair of glasses and lenses that were put in the frames. Not to mention the examination. Not long after receiving my glasses I noticed the lense on my original frames was not put in properly or completely! I brought them back for a thorough repair but, they said they would not cover the damage or loss of my frames! $600.00 is a lot to pay without having the confidence in knowing it will not be taken care of completely. Off subject, I should have realized the service I was about to receive after seeing the dust and dirt on the counters. I just can't recommend this company based on my experience with this company. read more

Orange Plaza Optometry is amazing! I have been coming here for the past few years and I have loved it since the first visit. I was recently in a car accident and was diagnosed with a concussion with eye sight problems. Dr. Navarro's office got me in right away and has been treating my symptoms ever since. This has got to be the rudest most unprofessional medical/optical office I have ever been in. They messed one thing up after another and take no fault in anything. I should have read the reviews prior to going in. Had to file a claim against the office with the insurance company and bank. Watch them in there they are very dishonest, and the Eye Dr deletes negative reviews they receive. Super shady that you get so many negative reviews you have to delete them. People should know how shady you guys really are...,,, watching my post so if it gets deleted like the others I will keep posting so people know what its "really" liked in there. I went to Dr. Navarro about 7-8 months ago before I got married. I wanted to get contacts so I wouldn't have to wear my glasses the day of my wedding. I was really nervous about going in because the thought of anything being on my eye was making me really uncomfortable. The initial exam went smoothly and Dr. Navarro was able to calm my nerves a little about contacts. The contacts I ordered through him came in really fast and one of the staff members did a training with me on how to put in and take out the contacts. He was extremely patient with me and never made me feel embarrassed about being so nervous. Dr. Navarro and his staff were absolutely amazing.
