My 15 month old, partner, and I love coming here for Thursday lapsit story time (10:30am) with Mr. Alex and Mr. Eric! I would recommend to come early since parking fills up due to paid parking in Old Town Orange down the street. We love all songs that all the kids end up loving to memorize and dancing to! After some songs and stories there is free play for around 30 more minutes. Other than story time, the Children's part of the library is a fun place for kids to play puzzles, crawl under an orange, and find some books to take home. read more

Today was the day I woke up and decided to stop gatekeeping this amazing library. I come here 1-2 times a week to browse the books and buy from the friends of the library bookstore. First, the library is beautiful. There are fountains, trees, and flowers. It's right next to the Orange Circle, so it's such a cute area. I will sometimes go for coffee in the Orange Circle after visiting the library. Friends Bookstore- This bookstore has the BEST selection of books. Outside is a bookcase of $0.25 books. Inside the book store, there are rows of books and they even have a kid/teen section. Books range from $0.50 to $1.50, with some special priced books (usually $3). Also, every month they have a special sticker color that indicates that those books as $0.50! I have gotten so many books here for myself, as gifts, and for work (I'm a school counselor and they have a section for mental health books in the kids section!). On Tuesdays, $1.50 books are half off for members. It's $12 a year for a membership but it includes $5 towards books and half off Tuesdays. TOTALLY worth it. I have gotten so many good and even newly released books here for $0.50-$3! It's really a steal! Everyone I have encountered working/volunteering there have been so kind and helpful. I genuinely LOVE coming here and browsing books and talking to the volunteers. read more

This library has multiple sections to it that are well labeled. They definitely have something for all ages. Today was the birthday of Dr.Seuss . To celebrate, they had stations for kids to grab a hat, listen to a story, take pictures at a photo op, and even choose a free book. What a great way to attract young people to reading. Walking through the library I noticed it was very clean, organized, and had staff available throughout to direct you and offer assistance when needed. There is so much to see and do. The library is quiet and great for after school studying. They have a printer and rooms to use that can be reserved with student priority. Its fountain gives it a charming atmosphere if you happen to read outside. They also have a portion of the library that is open air perfect for a cool day of reading. read more

So because I work in the are, I decided to sign up for a free library card. If you know me, I love to read and collect library cards. I came during lunch and signed up for the card. The process was easy and the librarian was pretty helpful. After receiving my new card, she let me know of all the perks and guidelines of how to use my card. I also received a voucher for a free item in the Friends of the Library store. Since I walked over here, I was on a time crunch so didn't get to fully explore the spot. The library itself is a bit small but very clean. They had a decent amount of books to check out. I had my eye on a few so told myself to go back to pick them up, and I did. They have self-check out kiosks that you just need to scan your card and books. It is fast and easy. I will definitley be back again to return my books and to check out some other cool books that I have on my TBR list. Till next time! read more

The library is standard. I liked that there was a lot of parking, it was quiet, had WiFi, outlets, and a private, cubby place to sit. Bathrooms were clean and I found the books I needed right away. There is a nice fountain outside, I came in before noon. It wasn't until closing time when I saw homeless people loitering outside. I didn't have to interact with any workers, but I saw other people asking questions and it looks like they put in the effort to help. read more

The only good thing about this library is their bookstore but even so one time I showed up to visit the bookstore and the whole library was closed during library hours with no signs up to let people know why. Waste of my time. I came by to visit another time and the bookstore wasn't open until another 30mins so I walked around the library. I had my dog in a backpack on my body and nowhere does the entrance from the parking lot says anything about dogs. After walking around for 5 minutes, I decided to go to the information desk to ask if I could get help to see if 2 books were available. The guy working on March 1, 2025 between 10-1030am at the info desk said sure and then asked me if my dog was a guide dog. I was honest and said no and he told me no dogs allowed. I would have been okay to leave right after if he had helped me see if the books were available like he said he would. He seemed very lazy so I just chuckled and shook my head as I walked away. If I return I would never ask him for help even if I didn't have my dog. I sat on the benches near the bookstore after and waited for it to open. All the staff from the bookstore didn't give me a hard time at all. read more

I walked in here today and I was blown away at how amazing this place was. I like this library more than the one close to my house. The interior and exterior is just intriguing to look at. I like that there's interesting book genres and there's even newspapers. Makes me feel ancient. There's even state of the art machines at the front entrance. read more

This is a nice library, the largest one I've been to in Orange County. It's two stories and has a history center. The center wasn't open today, however. I looked around and picked a book to check out. I signed up for a library card since the Orange County Library card doesn't work here. The process only took a few minutes. I used to come here almost every week when I lived in Orange, CA. Whether it was to study for an exam, read in peace, or check out the museum and historical exhibits, this library always provided the right environment. One of my favorite parts was the History Center, which has great exhibits about the city's past. It was always interesting to walk through and learn something new. The study areas were great too, private desks, outlets, and a quiet atmosphere made it easy to focus. I also used the public computers a lot. I'd check how my website looked on a different screen, and funny enough, I even have an old screenshot of my Yelp account from back in the day, I really miss my vanity URL, alexshaikh.yelp.com. The children's and teen sections are well-designed, making it a great place for all ages. I mostly came for studying or relaxing with a book, and it never disappointed. Only downside: The parking lot is small, so finding a spot during peak hours can be tough. Overall, this place is a gem for anyone looking for a quiet study space or an interesting historical visit. There are library computers, but with free wifi, it is easy to get yourself on line with your own computer or tablet. I love libraries and I wanted to check out the Orange Public Library since it's in downtown, easy to get to. Just a minute walk from the Orange Circle. There are signs and the building is big, easy to spot. The entrance was a tad harder to find, in the back. Look for a nice water fountain and you'll find it (there a big parking lot back there as well). The library is big, clean, with a nice selection of books and DVD-s. If you live in the area, you should check it out. They have a library store that we were eager to check out since we love to buy books and usually you get deals at these place. And they can use money for their library's programs. Well, they close it at 3 pm, even if the library closes at 6 pm. We barely got in and started to browse and we were asked to leave since the ladies working there wanted to close and leave. Usually, these types of store stay open till they close the library. I thought the staff here was kinda unpleasant, not the nicest people. Also, the library is closed on Sundays. Too bad. There are many positive things about this branch, but the staff should be nicer. read more

This is the main library in the Orange library system. The largest library in the system. There's always been parking in the lot every time I've been. Before the virus, they had a lot of in person events like arts and crafts, baking, etc. They do curbside pick up now. This library is also a historical society, where you can research city history and your family tree. They accept donations of old photos and yearbooks! Not many people know about the historical society, but it's pretty unique. read more

It has a huge and interesting selection of reading material. I also love the fact that you can look through old articles and high school yearbooks in the upstairs history center. The staff are very friendly as well. There are 2 things that I don't like about this place, however. One of them is having a hard time finding parking. Give me a break! This is one of our favorite libraries. The library is beautiful inside and out, and the staff is nice here too. This library has the convenient Teen Zone and Children's areas downstairs. There are study rooms in the teen section of the library and plenty of computers both upstairs and downstairs. My son really likes the History Center upstairs. There are wonderful artifacts and old books in the cases. My son had the chance to look at all the antique books about the Orange County area on our last visit here. The staff is really nice in the History Center and children's library. We do a lot of homework on the computers, and the librarian always walks around and asks how everyone is doing. The only problem is that the library sometimes closes early. We were here on Friday at 5:40 (the hours say it closes at 6:00) this last week and everything was closed down. My son and I found this a bit frustrating. For a good spot to do homework, research, and visit the nice History Center upstairs, this is a really great library! read more

The OPL is a wonderful place to read, do homework, study, and learn about the history of Orange (and of course check out books and movies). This place has a large parking lot and even though they are typically very busy, finding a spot is never hard. I come here mainly to study and do homework. The upstairs study hall is awesome. They have large tables for groups, personal spaces with outlets for those who bring a lap top, and rooms for meetings and study sessions. This place also has a cool used book store with a wide selection and very cheap prices. I would have to say my favorite part of the library is the outside patio with a beautiful fountain and benches. Nice size place with a number of books and computers that anything you may need. I have not been here in awhile since my library card expired. I dont use public libraries so much anymore because of my own internet. They have good childrens books and programs in the area for teens and community events. Staff are much more wonderful here. Located on Chapman, east of the Orange Circle, the main Library for the City of Orange provides plenty of services for all ages in a modern library! I was really impressed with this library, the first thing I noticed was how there wasn't anyone loitering around the building. There is an area where one could sit near a water fountain and relax, read a book etc. The staff was very attentive and gave us a quick tour once we got our library cards. There is an expansive area for kids on the first floor that has a couple of quiet reading areas. The books are easily organized by age group, and type of books. The check-out/check-in process of books is easier as well, it can be done electronically now. They also have several programs for after-school, and for the holidays, check their website or their boards at the library. There is a 'museum' style area upstairs that we haven't had too much time to investigate, but I am looking forward to checking that out more in detail. A beautiful library! Stopped by to checkout the library in Orange, because of the high reviews, and was pretty impressed with the whole experience. The exterior of the library is pretty tame, nothing really to draw you in, but the interior is beautiful. I went on a Saturday and there was already a line forming to get in to the library! That was actually quite refreshing to see. Inside the library there are two floors, the first with the majority of books and media material and the second has a lot of study areas and computers.
