The classes were fun and I really did enjoy them but the manager at this location is discourteous and not easy to work with. I requested to freeze my account, it was frozen for a few months and then I got a call warning me my account was unfreezing and so I asked to cancel completely. That was never done and I was billed for 2 months until I noticed. They ended up not giving my money back and then tried to offer me some free classes after cutting me off on the phone and talking over me. The only workout prep you need to put into this is deciding which outfit you want to wear and how you'll explain to your friends that you want to Orange Theory over Happy Hour. Trust me, these workouts are addicting, even for a fellow vino. Randy is the absolute best coach you could ask for. He's at Gilbert and QC- check him out! If you are leery on the worth of these classes, he will reinforce it for you. One of the most genuine, caring, and fun guys you'll ever meet. His knowledge is unparalleled. Classes are brutal! Instructors are Driven and Amazing! I have not been able to run for over a decade (back spasms) I joined last March and went biweekly and by September I was on the treadmill. This is a really great OT location! I live in Oklahoma and currently visiting my sister, so I stopped for an AM workout. The instructor Randy was great and motivational! The location was clean and the ladies running the front desk were so sweet and helpful. The coaching staff and management went downhill in the past 2 years. The head coach likes to make fun of/mock the members, talks about the members to others and it became such a toxic environment. Escalated to the Regional but they did nothing. Loved the workouts but no longer wanted to pay the monthly fee to belong to a toxic environment. My friend and I had each taken a class at Orange Theory in the past in different locations; she was visiting from out-of-town and we were looking for a solid workout, so I signed us up for a trial class at OT in Gilbert. When we arrived, we were told that we had to pay a drop-in fee of $28, since she lived out of town and we both had tried OT previously. While the policy was explained to us once we arrived, it had not been explained over-the-phone, when I scheduled our trial class. I was extremely disappointed in the lack of customer service we were provided. Rather than explaining the policy and allowing us to work out, as a one-time complimentary deal, we were not discouraged form leaving the facility. As a patron, this is the worst pr a company can offer; never would I allow a potential client to leave my facility feeling less than satisfied. Not only was I left with a poor perception of OT Gilbert, I will never recommend OT. Living in a big city, there are a plethora of other options for great workouts that cost less and are in the business of attracting long-term clients. As a follow up to this, my friend and I googled local gyms and found "Burn Body Bootcamp" right down the street from OT in Gilbert. We went, had an exceptional workout, and are able to try the classes at no charge for 14 days. Now THIS is a good business approach! read more

The theory behind orange theory is that you burn more fat if you work out in an "orange" zone. It goes: grey, green, orange, and red. Grey is resting, green is comfortable working out, orange is pushing it, and red is craziness. They give you a heart rate monitor so you can see exactly what level you are at every minute of the workout on large screens throughout the gym. Nobody needs to tell you to go harder or push more, because you can look up and see that you need to go harder or faster. It's fascinating. At first, I thought I was dying when I started out. Well, I still think I'm dying. But I keep coming back for more. I definitely recommend it to everyone I know. It's fun to physically see your progress and know 100% how you did at the end of each class. I've only really interacted with the trainer Sunny, but I've heard the rest of the Gilbert trainers are fun. I adore Sunny though. One thing I should mention! They have cancellation fees. If you don't cancel or reschedule your class within 12 hours, you'll have to pay a fee. I personally like that, because it makes you more accountable, but I can see that some people would have issues with it. read more

OTF has been the only thing I've ever stuck with in my now 42 years. I celebrated my 1 year Orange-versary last month. I've lost 45 lbs (combination of workouts 4-6x a week & also due to the Zone eating introduced by OTF during a transformation challenge). The classes are all different and I am confident I am getting a well-rounded workout. The 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the extremely high staff/coach turnover. It's frustrating. Don't get attached is my new motto. But I am still coming because the other advantages to my health mean more at this time. read more

I love it! Don't wait and just try 1 class for free... I was scared to try a class I thought it was going to be super hard and intimidating. Although it's challenging and an amazing workout, you can push yourself as hard as you want to. I thought it was going to be a competition format with the heart rates displayed on the screen, but not at all - you are only competing with yourself to improve and have a great workout. Everyone is really really nice. Kristin the owner is the sweetest, all the trainers are amazing. Great workout! Super clean and fresh studio. I love the 3 part format and heart monitor to track my progress. I've trained with Jason, Kenpo and Champ. They all have slightly different styles but all are knowledgeable and encouraging. It might seem pricey, but if you break it down to per workout cost it's a good deal. Having to sign up for class keeps me accountable. There's an app for that which makes it easy! One area for improvement could be to offer a brief explanation of the numbers on the screen, rowing numbers "101"..like an Orange Theory Basics class. When you're in the class working out it takes awhile to catch on to all terminology. Oh also last positive note...front desk help Shelby is always welcoming and helpful. read more

The work outs are decent usually. It was a good start for me to get healthier. Though customer service is not good when you actually need help. I had been going to OTF and mainly this location for over 5 years. I decided to cancel my membership, got billed on 5/26, was told that day I had until 6/26 to use the classes. I took a class on 6/25 and got billed for it because they said my classes expired on 6/25 and so the last day to use the classes was 6/24. They just lost a long term customer over $18, and mainly the disregard to customer service, to owning up to misinforming their clients. Maybe they thought I was canceling the membership so this was okay. I was planning to buy the class passes instead of having the membership, but I no longer feel like going to OTF. Either way, not recommending, if you want to try, it would be smooth sailing if you just pay and never need any customer service. read more

The coaches are amazing and super helpful every step of the way, whether it is helping me out with a specific move in the weight room, showing me the correct rowing form, or pushing me to run faster during the all outs... I know I can always come in for a workout that will leave me motivated! The more I do OTF, the more I realize I have favorite locations. What's nice about OTF is that once you join a location, you can go to any other location in the country. I happen to be on this part of town while I am petsitting and decided to give this location a chance again. My first encounter with the location wasn't very good, however, I believe in second chances. The trainer I have had the pleasure of interacting with for the past two sessions is Sidney. He showed me how to do alternative exercises and gave excellent recommendations. The energy in the class was high and I felt like I was learning more for future sessions. Who knew I was using the rower wrong this whole time?! I appreciated the time Sidney took in showing me the correct way to do each exercise and use the machines correctly. Least favorite establishment. They make it seem like you can leave with no hard feelings but that is to say the least. Folks gave me a hassle when i decided it wasn't the right fit for me and berated me in front of surrounding customers. I reached out to get a refund and to explain how that was not right to treat their customers for wanting to cancel a membership. They do everything to get you in but don't care to acknowledge you after. Not a place for athletes or people with common curtsey. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. This gym is amazing! I started off with the 8 sessions a month and quickly went through them and upgraded to unlimited. I signed up with my friend and Luke was her trainer. Luke will push you and motivate you. There are all ages and all body types here. This is not what comes to mind when you say gym, this is a serious support team and great environment to better yourself and get healthy and fit! I have always attended Luke's classes and 1 of Corrine's and just simply perfect. I prefer to workout at the crack of ridiculous so I can be done with my workout and focus on my day. If you haven't tried OTF I highly suggest to try a free session and you will be hooked!
