This place is located on the East side of Power Rd near the upper 202 in NE Mesa. I would agree with the other reviews. Pretty standard. Since it was not very crowded it was easy to get things done. Based on the location it probably does not get crowded. They have 3 squat racks. On their basketball court they have plenty of balls sitting out. Some of the LA Fitness/Esporta locations do not have balls. read more

Being in my late 60's, my knees were giving me problems and were often sore from any activity. I used to run in younger days and thought that my active days would be diminished due to the knees. I started personal training last year in order to be more fit for the things I like to do- hiking, backpacking, pickleball. I started training with Laura who identified exercises and taught me how to strengthen my knees as well as the rest of my body. With Laura's knee strengthening, my knee pain was relieved and if I keep the knees strong, I have no pain, I can do the activities that I want and I occasionally run 5 and 10k races for fun. I love this gym for 2 reasons: diversity in members and my trainer. I don't tend to feel comfortable at gyms when they're full of just ripped bros, but LA Fitness at Power and McDowell has members of all shapes, sizes, ages, and goals. Second, my trainer Peter Valasquez is the best and most motivating trainer I've ever worked with. He has a wonderful character about him: he's funny and positive and relatable. And he pushes you just past what you think you can accomplish. I've definitely enjoyed my training sessions with Peter more than I would have imagined and I have learned so much about my body and what I'm capable of achieving. read more

Been a member since they opened. I like the facility. It's close to my home so that is the best feature and benefit for me. I can pay to go somewhere further away that might be fancier or cliquey-er, but I'd most likely never go if I had to drive 30 minutes each way to get there and back. This club has great classes. The cycle classes with LoLo are the BEST and the main reason I go now. I use the treadmills and weight machines but I go for Lolo's cycle classes and stay for the rest. There are a lot of older members at this location , at least in the morning. It's a little weird to be in a high intensity- thumping cycle class and look out the glass windows to see a little frail lady fresh out of the shower, shrouded in her robe shuffling by the windows. There's a lot of that type of scenario going on but at the same time there's young adults ( my son is now 23 and been a member since he was 16. ) There's middle aged men and women (my category) and everything else in between. They used to have a shake bar in this location but it quickly closed soon after it opened. I heard the owner was never there however customers were really happy with the concept of a juice/snack bar and It would be really nice to have a convenient juice and shake bar in there that had a good vibe. The interior could stand some updating and refreshing of some sort but I can't pinpoint exactly what areas would benefit the most. The manager, I think his name is Chandler is always walking around the club looking around, checking in on the cycle class and I actually saw him the other day checking for dust on top of a door ledge. James is also very professional and "managerial. " He helped add my daughter onto my membership last week and I liked him a lot. Very quiet but efficient and professional. All in all I think it's a great gym and the cost is very reasonable. Plus, we also get to use the ESporta gyms now too. read more

Love this gym! It's less busy than some of the other gyms. It's kept pretty clean. All the machines you need are here too.

This gym is still my go to as there seems to be nothing better in the area. It hasn't had a new piece of cardio equipment in years. It's always a crapshoot if you get on something and the TV works. If it does work most of the screens have a picture quality that looks like it's under water. The staff is nice and the gym is generally clean but the automatic hand sanitizers usually are empty or don't work. As for the weight lifting machines they also have had very little changed. There isn't even a bench press machine with a press that goes straight up. They all are on odd angles. It's time for a refresh on the equipment side. The shake place inside just opened and quickly went out of business. Probably because LA Fitness had to dictate everything about what could be sold just guessing. Other gyms sell more on top of just shakes like fresh fruit, nutrition bars, even coffee and soft drinks. read more

North Power Rd, Mesa location. DISAPPOINTED does not even cover it!Yesterday I stopped in to get information. Sales person, CODY, transfer from Greenfield, spoke to me. I informed I'm looking for a new gym. My Zumba instructor of 16 yrs retired. I attend zumba/dance classes 5 days a week. It is important to keep that schedule. I'm interested in attending a few classes. I want to ensure the instructors are up to standards. If I'm not sweating & breathing heavy during a class, something is wrong. CODY tells me "I can give you 1 class, after that classes are $20 a piece. I say "I can't tell if you have good instructors with 1 class. Cody repeats 1 class then $20. I ask "don't you do 3 day passes like other gyms?" His response "NO NOT THIS LOCATION". This gym is not interested in new members. Cody doesn't even suggest anything. If there was a prize for doing the absolute minimum before reopening due to CoronaVirus- you'd get "the gold". All this facility did was block off every other cardio/ no way is that 6' from the next user. I noticed no extra sanitizing stations except for at check in (worthless). At a sheer minimum- cardio should have been relocated with treadmills moved to the basketball court and taking out that idiotic "training" area recently installed in favor of reasonably spaced cardio. If you couldn't run tv to the units- I'd rather not catch Corona than watch it on CNN. I've been a member at this location for years- at this stage, I don't believe I'd be safe on an elliptical and having someone with asymptomatic C-19 on the device one over from me. I am Navy Veteran suffering from nurse burn out who recently took FMLA associated with all the stressors at a local cardiovascular hospital as a nursing leader. Ok let me start this off by saying I NEVER do this. I don't believe in leaving reviews. Usually if I like a place I'll say so to the staff right then and there and give a good recommendation to my family or friends. If I don't like a place again I will let them know right then and there... With that being said in this case had I told them how I felt it would not have been good for one of the staff members at LA Fitness. So I went to work out with my friend. He is a member. I loved the gym everything went well. When we were done with our work out I was definitely interested in signing up. However, I spoke with a kid named Andy. As soon as he walked up to us to say he smelled like marijuana is an understatement. (Ok I understand that smoking marijuana is becoming more common and I usually don't like to interfere with people's personal decisions) BUT IT WAS THAT BAD!!! So bad in fact that my friend was didn't even want to be around for the post gym sign you up sales pitch. He bailed leaving me do deal with Tommy Chong myself. Andy was obnoxious and arrogant and couldn't focus on trying to sell anyone anything. He was rude and a little condescending when I told him I was gonna pass. He even scoffed if I asked if there was a military discount. I believe his exact words were "discount? What for? Nah man. When he saw my facial expression change when he said that he immediately said, "I mean...I can check?" If one of my employees had a dream about behaving like that he would have woken up to being fired immediately. But like I said the gym was great but it won't be getting my business with people like that on its staff. read more

Love instructor Maria for Aqua class, facility very clean wonderful atmosphere great staff. Have 3-8 individuals that would be interested in participating in Aqua classes however water to cold a little better on 3/9/21 however 3/11/21 cold participants all complained many individuals with silver sneakers have arthritis or other issues, went about 30 mins early to warm up before class as soon as got in cold water create a instant pain stayed through class felt a little better untill got out felt much worse than before class could barely walk out to my car. Before C-19 pandemic went to 3 different gyms and 2-3 aqua classes per day which helped with increased mobility. Would really appreciate if your facilities could please have warmer water for at least the Aqua Classes to help with muscle/bone and fatigue/pain for myself and other individuals with mobility issues that need Aquatic excercise. Thank you! Have been to your Greenfield facility Esporta that seemed a little warm 88 degrees when I asked. Tues and Thurs at 6:00pm classes don't have music why is that? I have never stepped foot in this location , yet somehow my membership is based here. I am an IFBB pro and train at multiple gyms. I've tried to cancel my membership SO many times as I haven't trained at esporta/la fitness in years. I finally followed exactly what the website said and emailed the contact address to officially cancel my account last August. Chandler emailed me back and assured me my membership was cancelled. I just recently noticed I'm still being charged despite confirmation that my account has been cancelled. Chandler just kept repeating himself almost as he was reading a script and had no idea what to say other than a few rehearsed statements. Chandler refuses to provide me a refund from the date of my initial contact as well as allowing me to speak to his manager or really anyone else to get this resolved. Total scam!! Tony was working out and i went to get dumbbells in the trainer area that no one was in or using this was at 130 pm on a Wednesday . I wanted to do a super set with the rope pull and curls and toes to bar . I grabbed dumbbells and he said if i didn't put them back he would cancel my membership wtf! What gives him authorization to abuse his management position to bully ppl in the gym if you want to cancel my membership for using dumbbells that no one was using go ahead FLEX SALTY!!
