Just began my new journey to another gym after canceling from Puregym, since the gym culture isn't…read morethe same it used to be back when it was Blink Fitness but that's a story for another time. It just feels good to see staff at the front greeting me in and showing me the ropes of the place. I have seen this location many times passing by but admittedly foregone it in favor of Blink Fitness years ago because that was close to my location. Wanting to switch to another gym brought the opportunity to come here and it is slightly friendlier compared to Puregym, at least not as cold or sterile. It is Spring Break now so of course the gym was pretty packed but for what it's worth I was fortunate not to come across people doing super sets on various machines or spending several minutes on one machine I wanted to try out. Even had short conversations with 2 gym goers. In this day and age, social connection is very valuable so it felt almost as good as getting a solid workout in. Granted the Red and Yellow theme seems a bit garish, almost as if this place was created and run by Hulk Hogan but it's a nice change of pace from the dull and monotonous theme of the previous gym I was in. The one perk the gym has that separates it from others is that Retro Fitness has it's own Smoothie bar and a varied selection of them. I chose the Mocha Mania to be my first one and it sure does fill you up. It makes for a fine replacement as opposed to going to a fast food joint after a workout. Retro Fitness is my new home and with the highest tier I signed up for, I'm ready to explore more.

Also I'm sick and tired of being harassed to re rack other people's weights . I would use the 120 lb dumb bell to bench press . However during the time I'm using it , members would rack their weights where the 120s go. I would put the 120s in the spot of the rack that's open like in any other gym. Alfred would bother me to constantly un rack the weights on the 120 spot that I never used and then re rack those weights in the right place even though I never used the weights. to It's not my job to RE RACK the weights they used . If the 120 lb dumb bell spot gets taken by another weight ...that's not my problem or responsibility . No gym I been to has ever harassed me to re rack other peoples weights , I only re rack the weights and equipment I use . If someone puts a 90 lb dumb bell in the 120 lb spot on the rack , it's not My job to now un rack their weights, look for the right spot it goes on and re rack their . I been at NYSC since March of 2025 and I never once been harassed by this

A friend of mine suggested I take a class & I wouldn't be disappointed. She was right, they did not disappoint. They have some great deals as well. I bought the $80 deal that consists of 20 Zumba classes or pay $7 per class. My first class was Thursday at 9:30am with Wilmer. Very energetic with great music. That's what I like to hear when I take Zumba. I want to sweat and dance and that's what I did on Thursday. I also went on Friday and danced with Wilbert. He too was energetic and fun. Can't wait to go back and hopefully my friends come with me next time :) *Update* Went during the evening to dance my butt off and I LOVE the fact that they turn off the lights and have disco lights and anything neon glows in the dark. Soooo awesome!!! Belky has amazing music.

I am not here to write about Fitness R Us/soon to be Holistic Fitness, I am here to simply write…read moreabout the owner Joanne Barry and her Joanne's Healing Within talk show as a scam artist. Joanne contacted me after seeing me on an acquaintance Live feed on Facebook. She said she interviews people. It turns out that she interviews them for a charge. Fair enough, she is new in her business and I am promoting mine. This was a win-win in my book. I could use the video on any of my social media platforms and I thought that would be great. I paid $177 for a 15 min interview via Skype. 3 days prior to our interview, she gave me a phone number and a website to call in through Skype and told me what time to call in at. I tried 7 times and no one answered. I wrote in the chat area that I was there and having difficulties, one person said that that was just a phone number to call in via phone. (that message, as well as a few others, are now deleted). I ended up calling in on the phone and spoke with Joanne for a total of 8 minutes. 4 minutes of my interview and 4 minutes with her card reading. (not what I paid for). Joanne did not contact me, I contacted her the next day. Her rely upon "Hi Rockie, I will need to find out what the policy is as we did do a 10 minute interview." Her second reply actually 3rd, "Hello Rockie, I checked in with Strong Island Television and rewatched our show and your interview was awesome. We had 1.2k viewers and counting. Congratulations. Within the week I will email you the YouTube link to this episode, which you can post on all your social media pages. Again thank you for a great interview." I am now led to believe it was a scam from the start. She never intended to interview me. What the heck, She is in New York, I am in California. What can I do right? This is what I can do. I am sure it would have been a whole different experience had I been able to be on her couch. Here is the video, you decide if I got my money's worth. Keep in mind, I tried 7 times in 30 minutes to get on Skype, I tried to chat with someone to get them to come and help me. They deleted several of the chats between me and 2 other people. (I am not sure who they are. Could be Joanne herself or the people who work and or own Strong Island Television). But someone did. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PBu4B3orIcw&feature=youtu.be This has been a very disappointing experience from someone calling themselves "spiritual". I am here to warn you that this is not a good spiritual person. Hopefully, this will help you save your money and not be scammed.

We visited on a Tuesday morning around 10am and most of the machines on the lower level already had someone waiting. I saw a lot of people tapping others to ask how many more sets they were going to do. We are gym hopping to find the best gym for us and we did not sign up. I can only imagine how crowded it would be after 5pm or on a weekend. I also don't want to wait around for machines or have people constantly ask if we are done yet. Also, there's a really cool stretch zone underneath the stairs. We couldn't try it out because someone was on it for over an hour. But looks good!

Extremely disappointing and deceptive business practices. My membership expired four months ago,…read moreyet this gym continued charging my credit card without any communication whatsoever. When I spoke with management, they pointed to fine print in the contract stating that the membership automatically converts to a month-to-month agreement. Despite the fact that I had not attended the gym for over 300 days due to an injury -- and even provided medical documentation to management -- they still continued billing me without a single courtesy call or attempt to address the situation reasonably. The customer service and attitude from management were completely unacceptable. I have been a member since this gym first opened, which makes the experience even more disappointing. Instead of valuing long-term members, they appear far more interested in continuing automatic charges than maintaining professionalism or customer relationships. On top of that, the gym is consistently overcrowded regardless of the time of day, with machines almost always occupied, making workouts frustrating and inefficient. Overall, this has been an extremely negative experience. I would strongly advise others to read every line of their contract carefully and think twice before joining.
