Im giving this 3 stars because it truly was beautiful here. We were very lucky and came in April when like nobody was here. The campsites have NO PRIVACY whatsoever. If you are ok with that, then this would be fine for you. The bathroom was nice, but noticed the 2 days we were there it wasn't cleaned, and garbages outside of bathrooms weren't dumped. Also, bring MOSQUITO spray!! Omgoodness, I knew because it was by water there would be some, but they were so bad, we had to go Inside our trailer before dark. No marshmallow roasting, or campfire at night. staff was nice, however they were doing construction the whole time we were there. They came to apologize and stated they were done if we wanted to stay another night. However, that was a lie. We were woke up the next morning again to loud machinery and lots of workers So it was less noisy at home in the city. All in all, the surroundings are beautiful, lake is amazing, but, we won't be back. Too many mosquitos, not private enough, and super noisy for not having anyone there but us and 2 other campers, that were far away from us. read more

Let me start off by saying, this review doesn't reflect the campground itself. It reflects staff, a staff member in particular. This campground allows day passes to use their beach front to access the water, we did that back in July. We only saw the part of the campground that led us to the water, it looked really pretty. We enjoyed the water area. My partner and I decided we should come back sometime to camp, so we decided we would in September. I called a handful of times to ask various questions and get information, I spoke to a lady named Ky and two gentlemen named Todd and Robert (I believe). Todd and Robert were absolutely fantastic. They had amazing customer service, were friendly, just overall went above and beyond during my interactions with them. Ky on the other hand... she was rude, disrespectful, no customer service skills and subtly talked down on her colleagues. I was planning for a group of 7 to go camping, so there were a lot of heads to manage and plan for. I asked for some recommendations for campsites and she had given me 2 (one was for $400 for the weekend and one was in the meadow area for cheaper), but she explained the meadow area after I asked her many times and I just didn't think the site she recommended was going to work so I nicely asked for another recommendation and she told me she wasn't going to give me another one "if I was just gonna keep not liking them". I kept explaining to her I couldn't hear her, because she had me on speaker and she was further away from the phone... I asked her to repeat a few things and then asked if she wouldn't mind putting me to her ear because I genuinely couldn't hear her and she told me no that she will be keeping me on speaker because if she puts me to her ear she can only type with one hand and that's "unefficient". As a customer I would rather take a few extra minutes being "unefficient" because you need to type with one and and being able to ACTUALLY hear as appose to having to keep asking her to repeat herself or asking what. There was some miscommunication on which sites will be closed during their "off season" or non busy season (which is when I was planning to book) and another staff recommended a site that was unfortunately actually going to be closed so I asked about it and she told me she knows the most there, she's the one with all the information so the other person was wrong. Again, I have nothing bad to say regarding the campground itself. There was more, but for the sake of the long review, I will end it here. But if you are reading this, Orchard Springs, please be sure to properly train employees on customer service...this will ensure you have more customers. We being camping for 7 years but sadly these is our last camping here not good at all ,Bathrooms need more attention very dirty never get clean , rude employees,river not safe for swimming , showers are out of order not gets fix ,time to go somewhere else . read more

Orchard springs is NOT Doing refunds for our cancelation on a reservation for camping How is this ok? If the lake is dry and that is the reason for our cancelation. Never using this place again! I don't recommend it to anyone else either read more

Photos don't do justice of how beautiful this place actually is, definitely recommend. Went with family and it was such a relaxing Camp Ground with an amazing view of the whole lake. At night you can see the whole sky flooded with stars. Also they have clean bathrooms/showers, area for volleyball, and dogs are allowed. Give this place a try. read more

This place is beautiful and most staff were friendly and respectful. New store and play ground. Lots of parking available. Hot showers(fee of .25 per 3 min) exceptionally clean bathrooms. Beach area could use some work. 2 younger ladies at store(1 said she was maintenance) need to go, rude, rude rude! Everyone else was awesome. Used the bathroom at the store since I was in there buying something and had the nerve to tell me there are bathrooms across the way. Yeah I know been using them all day. read more

I really love this place for its location and for what the campground provides, BUT.... the adminstration Side has really gone downhill. 1. After making the reservation in January 2016 for June, I did not get any confirmation but just a credit card deduction. Before, they used to mail it automatically, but last year they only done so once I called and requested it. This time, I left voicemails on the two numbers provided -2212 and -0073 and could not reach them or get a call back. 2. As stated above, customer service doesn't exists when it comes to contacting them. So far they are good on not messing up the reservations. I'm starting to really get nervous on paying over $250 for a weekend months in advance, only to have everyone drive in and be turned around because i have no proof of the reservations for a specific date or site. Online booking is "under construction/coming soon" 3. I highly recommend to watch the dates written on the car pass. I booked 3 nights which is unusual when most just book for 2 over the weekend so they automatically wrote me in as two and same for my other car. This was an easy fix, yet this could have been an issue. Made me nervous that they only reserved me for two nights when I paid for 3. I had to drive to the gate twice to fix the tags for myself and my other guest for the second site. Time wasted. 4. I don't know for how long but their restrooms were down by the beach and up on the southeast hill. Only 4 porta potties were available for everyone who were day visitors on the beach, campers on lower level by the water and the one on SE upper lever. Just 4 for all of these people which are only serviced once on Thursday?! Toilet paper ran out on Saturday noon time. The campground did try to provide more toilet paper but since they didn't have the actual key to place the rolls where they should be, they ended up on the ground and then thrown down the "drain". I love this campground for their flushing toilets and being able to wash your hands in the sink, but not this time. Fix them please. 5. I stopped playing volleyball on their volleyball sand pit because I really scratched up my legs when I dove for the ball. I play sand volleyball on the regular in Folsom and playing on gravel is really painful. No thank you. So the solution this time was to set up on the grass for which we were advised against it because our stakes could possibly damage their sprinkle system. Was not our intention but we did not want our legs and arms torn up while playing and enjoying our camping experience. Please provide a finer sand not full of rocks in order for us to play where it is "safe". Here are the reasons why I love this camp. Our campsite has water and electricity The sites are fairly clean, minus some leftovers here and there in the bushes from previous campers. There are two beaches. One sandy smooth beach and the other side where one can take their dogs to. Actual toilets and showers. Working ones.... having an actual little store in the campground where one can get ice and other small items needed for camping. This year there were no wasps nor bees, just pesky flies that bite. With bug spray this is tolerable as far as nature goes. read more

We have come here 3 years for our family camping trip. We always have a great time. Camp sites and bathrooms are clean and well maintained. Just wish they did boat rentals. I recently camped here for the weekend with family. It is a nice location and beautiful camp ground. However the poor customer service, lack of attention to detail by the staff and bathroom facilities made this an undesirable trip. Having flush toilets and sinks in public restroom facilities is a positive for a campground but the waterside facilities near the boat ramp and lower camp sites were closed and instead there were 4 port-a-potties. Those apparently are only serviced once a week on Thursday. By Saturday afternoon they were a disaster and out of toilet paper. By Sunday the bathrooms on the upper level were out of order with no portable alternative. Obviously the staff here has no interest in maintaining facilities. I can't imagine how disastrous this will be for 4th of July weekend when the camp ground is completely booked. It is shameful that Orchard Springs chooses to stay open and make money when they can't even provide acceptable restroom facilities! As for the attention to detail, the people in the check-in booth at the gate messed up on our parking tags even when thoroughly explained that we were booked for 3 days and not 2. I had to go back and get them to fix their mistake twice. Orchard Springs, get your act together!!! read more

I love this park and the staff is very helpful. I camp with a large group and have the best time camping.

The people that run this campground do not answer their phone or return voice messages! I have called every day for 2 weeks trying to make a big group booking which could net them over $700 but they will not return my call! They don't want to make money? They do not put an email address on their website either so this is the only way to contact them. Someone is sitting on their bum doing nothing over there! read more

Our favorite campground to go in the summer because we can take the jet skiis out and camp! Found this place when we first bought our jet ski from this one guy and ever since then we would drive from Sac all the way to Colfax just for this lake! Rollins lake is big and perfect for jet ski riding. Especially with all the boats around and other jet skiers your bound to have lots of waves to run. The water is always so clean and clear. But beware the beach area is always packed on holiday weekends like the Fourth of July or Labor Day weekend, so remember to go early and claim a spot. The campgrounds are pretty spacious but aren't that flat, so it takes awhile to find the perfect spot to pitch your tent up. The restrooms are pretty clean except for the one near the beach area because during the day it's a mess because of the water and sand. The showers cost I think 25cent or a dollar but it's hot water and lasts pretty long. The staff is are always friendly and they remember us when we come every year which is kind of cool. Overall this is a great place to ride jet skis and camp in the summer. We've kind of made it a tradition to come here every summer to just have some sun and water fun, camping and bonding with family. This place is awesome if you get a site near the water at night you can sit on the dock or the beach and star gaze also! read more

This is (reluctantly) our second year we've tried this facility. The campground is not bad but there are a few things that make it a no-go for ever coming here again. 1. Every body here must have their pot card. Strong smell of marijuana all day & night. 2. There is a small beach area that is not bad if you don't mind boats and jet skis flying in and out all day long with people yelling commands to back up, pull forward etc. Also, every person feels the need to rev their boat or jet ski louder than the last guy. It's a major safety concern seeing that small children are playing in the water literally feet from the jet boat ramp! Protected only by a rope in the water. The beach is full of people drinking. Lots of skin & tattoos if you're into that. Not a family friendly environment at all! 3. You are only allowed 1 car at your site but you can have 8 people. This means that you cannot fit all the people in your site in one car. Therefore, they charge you an extra $10 per night per car. Add that to the $30 bucks for the site (most of them small and on steep hills) and your cost is about $40 a night. Night a great bargain for what you get. Bathrooms are filthy & showers do not work that well. read more

Nice camping side, not too far from the city. We had spot close to the lake, the only thing that I didn't like place was overcrowded, and at the evening so much smog due to lots of camp fires. Camping ground has restrooms with toilet paper and water. Water in the lake was warmer then what I expected: good for swimming. Lake itself has lots of beautiful places to take pictures. Probably not will be back camping but most likely be back to go swimming and boating on the lake. read more

Only went up for a few hours to hang out with my family who was RV camping. Drive to get to the campground is not to bad and there are signs to guide you. Place was pretty empty which made it even more peaceful. Bathrooms were far from the campsite and there were lots of hills. Didn't like that animals were not allowed on the beach area. It's 2:30 AM and this campground is loud and full of people who drink and partying all night long. The camp sides are so close together that you hear everybody's conversation. The facilities are dirty and the smoking is allowed. There is zero reinforcement of night quiet hours. read more

I went to this campground October, 2015 and had an amazing stay. Weather was great and off season meant we almost had the place to oursleves. We stayed in one of the four tent sites by the day use area with a great water view. Easy access to the day use bathroom which was somewhat maintained. I went back the this same site March 24-27, 2016. I had a very different experience. There was a few more folks and fairly active day use. The staff on site never spoke to us or even waved when driving by. I have never experience this on my many camp trips. The only bathroom open near us was the day use. This was one of 2 bathrooms in the campground open. This bathroom had 4 single toilets, only one of which was actually open. There was no toilet paper or soap for our entire stay. It was never cleaned. It was used a lot. We paid $100 for our stay, no off season prices offered. We also spent some time cleaning all 4 of the tent sites near us which were littered with garbage, broken glass, and beer cans - including the fire pits. For the price we paid and the very few folks camping there, I would expect the onsite staff to maintain the 2 bathrooms and sites. I was looking forward to frequenting this campground, particularly in off season or early/late season, but can't imagine going back and paying this amount of money for this experience. Sidenote, we also pulled into Long Ravine and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We just didn't like the open sites as much. Same owner so would expect similar staff and expectations. read more

Came over here from Scott's Flat and were a little leery after reading the reviews. Loud and rowdy and rude may be the case on the weekends? My experience has been totally opposite. All staff that I have run in to both on the phone and personally have been nothing but warm, friendly, and helpful. The person cleaning the restroom even came over to let me know that he was cleaning the restrooms out and scrubbing toilets and the floors were wet so be careful. The dogs wanted to go for a swim and although the beach is off limits the other side of the ramp allowed the dogs to swim. The only downsides were the side where the dogs could swim had a lot of wood debris, the store was closed, and there are hungry mosquitos. No yellow jackets.The campground is so quiet you can hear a mouse fart, but it was also a weekday. The campground sites themselves look tight so I can see how it can be noisy if this place was full. read more

We've been camping here 2 times and had a great time so we decided to go again but this time we had a cabin across from a group camping site. Friday night was horrible, this was a group of about 40 adults and a bunch of kids (all ages). They were loud, inconsiderate, they let their kids run around screaming and playing all over the empty campsites and even sang Happy Birthday to someone at 1 or 2 a.m. I got about 3 hours of sleep. The next morning my husband talked to management and they assured us they would take care of any noise disturbances Saturday night. The group was partying in full force and between 10 and 10:30 p.m. it got a lot quieter...thank you to the great team that enforced quiet time so that campers like my husband and I could enjoy the rest of our weekend there!! I'm hoping when we go back Labor Day weekend they will enforce any rule breakers with the same tenacity!! We go there for the beautiful and peaceful scenery, campers that don't respect another's right to enjoy that should be asked to quiet down or leave. read more

Can't even get a return phone call! I have called 5 times in the last 7 days to try and make a reservation to camp and have yet to get a return call!! I reach an answering machine telling me to leave a message and they would get back to me to make a reservation. I was friendly the first few massages and then got angry. If I could give them no stars, I would!!! We had planned to come here on the weekend of August 22-23 but got news that the father of the couple we were going with was in the hospital and was not expected to pull through. She called them on Tuesday August 12 (11 days notice) to let them know and was told that she did not give 14 days advance notice so she would not get a refund but they would let her use the credit and stay there if she booked soon for any date before the end of the year. They called her while she was at the hospital to try and book a new weekend and she told them she didn't know when and that it wasn't a good time to talk. They informed her that she needed to call by the 6th of September to book the dates. Their father has passed away, they are in the middle of all of the emotional, financial, and physical "hell" that comes with losing a loved one and this is how they are treated from a CAMPGROUND!!!!! I am blown away at the insensitivity and callus behavior of the people that run this facility!! She contacted me today to find out when we wanted to go, as she had made the reservations and paid for it all in advance. I assumed that they had refunded her when she called to cancel. When I found out what they did I was BLOWN AWAY. Frankly, I would love to pay her back for everything and not camp here if this is how they treat their campers.
