The setting is idyllic and the B&B itself is a beautiful, sprawling house with 4 guest bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. Two of the rooms have private, in room bathrooms. The other two room share a bathroom that can be accessed by either room. If one couple occupies one of the rooms then the other room is left empty so that the bathroom can be private. However, if 2 couples wanted to occupy the two rooms they could share the bathroom on request. The rooms are meticulously clean and well-appointed. Each room has it's own theme and all rooms have charming views. There is a great hot tub outdoors under the stars. It is always surprising how many stars you can see when you are not surrounded by light pollution! The proprietors, Alicia and Guy, are very friendly and welcoming and make your stay just that much more enjoyable. Alicia is a fabulous cook and the breakfast is so good you will be talking about it for weeks. Sierra Sun Cloud Inn is a great place to go on a honeymoon, anniversary, romantic retreat, or just for a fun night away!

Walking into the house, my girlfriend and I were transported into what felt like snow white's wonderland cabin. The teacups on the ceiling, the wood slab table with pie plates, the velvet couches... there are cozy little details everywhere; the more we looked, the more we were amazed. We were greeted by Priya, the owner of Flume's End who is a one-woman show. Her energy was contagious and I immediately felt at home. She showed us to our room, the Empire Suite, which has a huge bed, a gorgeous bathroom, and its own outside patio balcony. This is an all inclusive experience. Priya likes to leave out cookies for guests as "midnight snacks," and there's hot cocoa and coffee available all day! I can't say enough about the breakfast, which had everything you could ask for. Can we talk about the little parfait cups?!? And the mini egg dishes? I was living in tea party heaven. You can't beat staying at Flume's End. It's a 5 minute walk into downtown, and the backyard is a fairy forest that you can wander around and enjoy day & night. We'll be back!

Its a short distance to the highway as well. We arrived late in the evening and there was so much going on. Broad street was buzzing with activity and everything is right at your doorstep. There are two reserved parking spots at the back of the house near the main entrance. At night (after 10, I'd say) there's plenty of street parking as well. The inn had plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, blankets, pillows and towels. The kitchens were stocked with a wide variety of kitchen essentials. Upon arrival the place was pretty clean aside for some spider webs. There is a tv with DVR and Netflix which was VERY much appreciated. We were able to play some wedding themed movies while pampering and prepping for the big day! My only complaint is that there isn't enough lightening, especially downstairs. It can also get really cold because of all of the Windows downstairs. Bundle up and turn on a heater in the fall and winter months! Loved this place, I would definitely stay again.

He thoroughly enjoyed playing the fair games and loved the live bird show near the entrance, where he got to see a vulture and a majestic eagle up close.The fair was definitely busy, but the fast pass ride wristbands came in handy to bypass the long lines. He kept asking to try the mechanical bull ride, and he did absolutely great! He held on tightly and didn't even fall off toward the end; he just asked for it to stop when he was done. I also hopped on a couple of other rides with him, and we had a lot of fun together.It is a fantastic, family-friendly event. We saw that they host a holiday fair here during Thanksgiving weekend, and we are already thinking about coming back for it!

Overall I had a good time, but gear up for the long lines for the food booths and carnival rides. You may end up spending more time in line than enjoying the fair. That'll make anyone grumpy. I waffled between rating a 3 to 4. Next year, the dates of the fair will be a month earlier and over two weekends versus one. The weather would be hotter in July but it's cooler there a bit than at lower elevation and the fairgrounds have tall pines, ponderosa, and oaks providing shade. I got here on Saturday early afternoon and left around 9:30pm. About 6 pm, that is when the attendance seems to significantly more than double. Got extremely crowded. The food and ride lines got longer as well. The lighting on the fairgrounds is limited and after dark it gets difficult to see the ground. Be careful of the uneven ground in the picnic and grassy areas. Alcohol is sold throughout the day and not limited to certain areas. You and your drink are allowed to be mobile throughout the fairgrounds. Parking is $10, we paid cash so not sure if they took other forms of payment. Oh and remember to recall where you parked. This is important especially if you parked in the far fields and intend to venture out to the car after dark. There are no lights out there and minimal to no landmarks. The terrain is a natural field with bumps and holes and all. They have a free shuttle from Tinsloy Transit Center (in Grass Valley ) to the main gate running every 30minutes from 9:30 am to 11pm. Treat Street is an area filled with non profit organizations food booths. Below are some of my favorites. But the lines are loooong! ~ Job daughters (Masonic organization) - corn dogs! These corn dogs are the most popular fair food, thus having a long line. They are legendary. Frankfurter dipped in a cornmeal batter and deep fried. $6 ~ Rough & Ready- baked potatoes! Big, fat plumb baking potato. ~ Nevada City Little League-roasted corn on the cob! $5 ~ Nevada City United Methodist Church- bratwurst and sauerkraut dogs! Flat grilled brats. Yum! - Nevada City United Way- nachos! Yes please. - Penn Valley Lions - caramel popcorn! Fresh made. - Watt Park Firefighters- - soft serve ice cream. - Nevada City Elks- - charbroiled hamburgers . Root beer floats.

The reservation process was easy, and she made sure we had everything we needed when we arrived. We found a list of local restaurants on the dining table, which was very helpful. (Tip: If you're going downtown for dinner, don't drive -- it's a nice walk from the inn, plus it's hard to find parking downtown.) The inn is in a quiet area, and we slept quite well in Lola's room. In the morning, the breakfast Janet made was incredible! Egg and cheese croissant sandwiches with fresh basil, thick sliced bacon, fresh fruit, juice, and coffee. One of the best meals I've ever had! The grounds are lovely. There is a pool and a hot tub, and plenty of places to sit and relax outdoors. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, so much that I wish we could have stayed longer! Perhaps, it's because we are different and have certain standards and expectations. I love this old and small American bar in a super small American town. I appreciate the fact that there was mining business many years ago so we now get to drive on these mining roads to visit old mining towns. We were traveling on fresh snow, off roading from south Yuba river, passing Bloomfield, Relief, then making our way to Washington on Relief Hill road after 12 miles. There's no traffic as we were totally alone enjoying the beautiful snow scenery along the off road. There were many falling trees and lots of tree wells. Tree well is a void or area of loose snow around the trunk of a tree enveloped in deep snow. It's known as "spruce traps", these voids present danger to any vehicles which potentially slide into them. We arrived late in Washington, exhausted, but our eyes lit up as we saw this bar, at the Washington Hotel. The place is warm so it's such a treat from being in the cold all day. At this visit, there were both locals and visitors. I enjoy all the artifacts on the wall and the fun ambiance here. Our bar attender, Mickey is such a special and sweet lady who made our visit at the bar perfect. My drink selection was the Hazy IPA, served super cold in a cold glass and tasted yummy. Mickey told me to put my phone away and walk to the back of the bar. Oh whoh, there's a marvelous and close view of the beautiful Yuba river. It's totally a treat to enjoy such gorgeous scenery, especially when there was nobody around. We were also thrilled to learn about a grey wolf traveling 600 miles from Oregon in a local newspaper that Mickey shared with us. There was no internet or phone signal in this town but who needs it when you can have a yummy drink, in the coolest bar in America! There is a clean bathroom with toilet paper and paper towel. We were in a hurry to get to our camping site so we had to leave, and missed trying out the food that my fellow Yelpers raved about. Highly recommend this bar! It's such a happy place with beautiful scenery. I definitely will visit again. So stop by, and explore the magic!

The upstairs honeymoon suite is spacious and even has a private deck off to the left and a shared deck off to the right. The views from the each deck are breathtakingly beautiful. Don't expect granite counter tops, fancy refrigerators and a mini bar. This hotel is straight and simple and to be honest, there is so much to do outside that this is a place to lay your head. You won't get a signal or connect to WiFi but that means you will need to reconnect with the humans you are with and even meet new ones. We met some locals and had a great time sharing stories and laughs. The last thing I wanted to say about this hotel is obviously being saved for the last as it is the best... the best Bloody Mary I have ever had pass my lips. Each one is made with care and is garnished with locally pickled vegetables. Green beans, carrot, garlic, olives and a pickled green tomato. That's the vegetarian version. Only one suggestion to the owners: Add the Nevada County Narrow Gauge Railroad Museum to your list of things to do in the area. We had a good time there, too!
