The repair work was done timely and correctly, but the initial $342 estimate ballooned to $548, and I had no prior warning, either at drop-off this morning or via phone when I spoke with shop personnel twice after getting an estimate and before today. their explanation - weird part, quoted wrong price, blame Ford for using a prior-year part - didn't satisfy. They admitted that they should've called but all I could get from them for my displeasure at the surprise 50%+ increase was $50 off. The miscommunication is more forgivable than the nonchalant attitude of the two employees I dealt with. I won't be back.

I mentioned a few issues I had in addition to the main problem - wipers quit working. They looked my car over and found the problems, providing me with details and what could be fixed now and what could wait. They provided me details, cost, etc. and kept me apprised of progress. Additionally, they provided me a loaner car. This was a godsend as I was going to daily radiation therapy for cancer. I was so pleased with their care, I also asked them to give me an oil change as I knew it would be needed soon. Not one bolt was put back in my car correctly after @$12K worth of repairs. They committed fraud by charging for parts that my car didn't require. They were paid for repairs that they didn't perform and also didn't make repairs on damaged parts that were essential to the safety of the vehicle. The owners put me, my family and everyone else on the road lives in danger by the work they did or didn't do! None of the work they did perform was done with any skill, care or pride. It was a blown engine (rod, cylinder, bearing, who knows the cause at this point). Spoke with the owner Charles who was fantastic and filled with integrity. The mechanic Gareth replaced the engine and had the car back in a week (there were other issues as a result of shrapnel shooting out of the block). 600 miles on the 76k used engine and so far no issues. Mr. Hoover (Charles) also let me know, and I trust him, if there's an issue he will make it right. I did consult a couple of other mechanics and they said that the work was being done at a very reasonable price (one said it was cheaper than he could do, especially the price of the engine). Most people need to realize cars a crap shoot. Quality integrity and workmanship is a skill though.
