So.... today I did a thing..... I have wanted to get a tattoo for over 40 years, but the time was never 'right'. But now - Im 'of a certain age' - where I just dont give a shit what anyone might think. I have ONE life and this is it, so Im going to start doing what *I* want. So, to get back to what I did.... I got a tattoo! My very first! My daughter said to go to Oregon City Tattoo because they are great for 'first time tattoos' and she was absolutely RIGHT!! My Tattooer (Tattooist?) was a guy named Smitty. SOOOOO very nice!! Actually everyone in the store was soooo very nice! Upbeat, fun, cheerful, happy BUT still professional. I had put together a sketch of what I wanted, and showed it to Smitty. He took it and worked on his computer for a tad, and then brought back his version which was soooo much better than what I had drawn! It was absolutely beautiful! He explained exactly what to expect and he let me know what the price was (alot less than I had thought it would be!) and we picked out the colours and then he got started. He did one little line first and then asked if I was ok with that... and because it didnt hurt at all, I said 'yes' so he continued with the rest of the piece. He was sooo gentle and soooo very careful and you can just tell that he really loves what he does! (hes been doing it for 40 years!! thats a LONG time!!) When he was done, he gave me very clear after care instructions and then double checked that I had 'heard' them, because the aftercare part is very important so you dont end up with issues! I really was impressed with the store (it was clean and neat and smelled good) and the guys who were doing the tattooing (also clean and neat and respectful and so very nice!) and I am truly happy with the piece that Smitty did for me. Im really so very glad I went there today - I dont think I could have gone anywhere that would have done a better job! Called and asked a few questions. They were great with giving simple answers. I decided to go for it and get my Eagles Superbowl Tattoo fixed up and to add our new one. Smitty looked it over and said no problem. Gave me a great price and we got started immediately. In less then 2 hours he was able to make the tattoo look like he just did the whole thing. It absofreakinlootly awesome. He fixed things we didn't even talk about. It's that kinda going the extra mile for his client that the wife and I have been looking for. they fucked up 2 of my tattoos. super cheap looking and the needle was way too deep so i have some ink blowouts and the design is really messed up. and the other one doesn't look like the reference picture and is all messed up. i would wait for hours to get a tattoo done that i booked ahead of time for. probably wouldn't come here again, can't believe i have this on my skin permanently, they don't seem to be too considerate of that. read more

Smitty does a great job. He was very patient with me as we repositioned the stencil multiple times to get it centered and straight. His lines were right on and the shading is very even. He and I chatted the entire time he was working on my first tattoo and I never felt nervous once.
