From the moment I arrived, I felt heard, unrushed, and like the artist genuinely cared about the work he was creating. Cameron did an incredible job. My tattoo turned out beautifully, and he was so gentle I honestly could have fallen asleep during the session. The shop itself felt extremely clean, the artists had a fun camaraderie with each other, and the overall vibe was welcoming and comfortable. Would give them 10 stars if I could! Had a pretty simple tattoo done but needed exact, laser straight lines and Rory was a rockstar! Even though it was simple and small, I was treated like a VIP by both Kevin (front desk) and Rory. From the time I called to the time I left, Kevin was incredible as was Rory, who was incredibly easy to work with and very professional. Went to the new West Linn location and not only are the artists incredibly talented, the shop could win awards for the interior decorating! Attention was paid to every detail and makes for a very welcoming and fun environment. Tattoo "bandage" got soaked in the rain so stopped by the Tigard shop and they fixed it up immediately and were super cool. I had a wonderful experience with Emma at the West Linn location! The studio is immaculate from the artist stations to the bathroom. Everyone there was very friendly and welcoming. Emma did a stellar job on my medical tattoo - the caduceus is perfect, the colours are vibrant and happy, and the lettering is crisp. My husband and I have been going to the Tigard location for years, but this time, I made an appointment with Kaden at their new West Linn location since it is closer. I have always been impressed with how professional owner Joe and his crew are in Tigard, and the new location is just as amazing. Everyone I met today was so friendly and polite. It all started, as it often does, with an idea. I had a design sketched up for over a year before deciding to go through with it. It wasn't my first tattoo, but it was going to be my biggest, spanning across my shoulders and upper back. With a tattoo of this size, it was crucial to select a shop and artist that I would be comfortable working with. I visited a few shops and met with a handful of artists; I chose Shalynn at Dead Gods Tattoo. First, I'd like to touch on the space. The shop is clean, cool, and natural light comes in through big windows. The decor consists of skeletal remains with a Disney's Haunted Mansion feel. An eclectic mix of tunes ranging from indie to metal and EDM blessed my ears. I could live here. All the artists that work here seem to get along really well with each other, doing small favors for each other, but also joking around like friends, it made for a pleasant atmosphere. Most importantly, the artist that made it happen: Shalynn. I think she was as excited and eager as I was to get the ink flowing and that kind of passion matters because it shows in the art. She did a great job listening to what I wanted, answering my questions, calming my worries, and making sure I was comfortable for the 15+ hours I spent getting my skin stabbed repeatedly with needles. Walk in made appointment for simple tattoo (i draw it on piece of paper) 12 year old kid can do it, just straight lines and color. So long story short tattoo on my neck got so messed up,when i got home i though it would heal and lines would be straight, also he said to come back for touch up after 3-4weeks i think. So i came for touch up and guy made it even worse. Lines are all messed up and now i have to cover it. Totally unprofessional work !!!!! Payed 360 with 40$ tips total 400$. Greg is great!! I found the shop and him on Instagram and he was running a deal on a few simple arrow designs. he was flexible on appointment time (we were driving from Beaverton), super down to earth, and really polite when explaining everything. This was my first tattoo that i actually went through with getting. I've had encounters with other artists who have been total assholes when i ask questions-- Greg was to the point and super chill about all my questions. He even made adjustments to the design a couple times and still only charged his special price. My boyfriend and i got matching arrows, which i know is corny, but nobody made us feel judged or like it was stupid. The photo is like 5 days healed.. a little scabby, but it's simple and done well! 10/10 would recommend this shop and all of the artists to anyone who asks. read more

I came here after going to a place down the road (connected to Taqueria Seven Estrellas), that told me they couldn't do a tattoo of snowflake in blue ink... After full well knowing what I wanted AND tattooing my two friends that came with me (we were all getting tattoos together). So we came down to Dead Gods and was immediately greeted warmly by Luke. My friends and I asked if he could tattoo a snowflake in blue ink. Of course the answer was yes (because what tattoo artist can't do a simple snowflake). And I'm actually so happy the other tattoo shop was incapable of this because Luke from Dead Gods became my new favorite person. Luke was fantastic and I highly suggest him! He did an amazing job and was thoroughly entertaining. Not only that, but every employee I encountered was great. Super nice, very helpful and genuinely good people. Tye Youmens tattooed my significant other last week and I have never seen such unprofessionalism. To start off I will say I have over 10 tattoos and have been to a handful of other shops. This experience left me completely uncomfortable and on edge the entire 3 hour session. To start off Tye misgendered my partner the whole 3 hour session even after I made a point out of correcting him and it being included on the intake form. Tye was rowdy, vulgar, and seemed as if he didn't care at all about his client. He was constantly yelling at other artists, making sexual comments, and at one point was talking about how he shakes his baby at home. I could tell Tye could tell how visually uncomfortable my partner and I were because he felt the need to clarify he's not a child abuser. Every time he opened his mouth to talk to another artist, other people in the space also seemed uncomfortable. The artist who is stationed next to Tye rolled his eyes and left the building at one point visibly upset. As for the tattoo process itself he leaned on my partner so hard that they have bruised ribs and my partner is comparable in size to Tye. Tye dry wiped the tattoo so aggressively that my partner winced every time they were wiped. As well as on one of Tyes many smoke breaks I asked my partner how they were feeling and they looked at me and said "I've never been tattooed like this I'm never coming back". There's far more I can add but this gets the point across. If I had been alone in that shop being tattooed by Tye Youmens as a female presenting queer person I would of felt pressured to stay and unsafe. I cannot stress enough how horrific this experience was. read more

I looked around the area for different artist before I decided on Joe at Dead God Tattoo! (I didn't find anyone that could do the detail I wanted until him) This was my first bigger tattoo and I knew I wanted realistic style roses as well as a realistic 3/4ths moon! I had my consultation and scheduled my appointment for August (they also added me to the cancelation list for Joe, just incase he had an opening sooner). 2days later I got a call there was an opening and was in getting my tattoo that next week! Joe made sure I liked the drawing, size and placement before anything else. I loved it all so we got started! I made it 4hrs in total (didn't get to finish it but have another appointment set to do so)! Joe was awesome the whole time!! Make sure I was doing okay, breathing (lol), trying to distract me as best he could! We took breaks when I needed it, and applied numbing spray when we could! I recommend Joe to anyone for their tattoos, he is awesome and I can't wait to finish this piece, and possible more in the future! The shop's atmosphere is great as well! Very welcoming, not the topical intimidating shop (for us newbees) that I've felt before. All in all I'm stoked on what I got and can't wait to go back in August! read more

I have been going to Dead Gods for the last 7- 8 years. There is a reason why I am a loyal customer and its not just because they produce some amazing artwork (though admittedly that helps). The atmosphere, the community, the vibe, that shop is just fun to be around. You can really see how the employees work together as a family unit in all of its hilarity and quirkiness. All that being said, its important to acknowledge how good the tattoos are coming out of that shop. I have a very colorful half sleeve that we are turning into a full sleeve and the color has remained vibrant despite me having it for many years. I still commonly get people stopping me in the street to ask who does my tattoo work. I have been impressed by multiple of the artists there, but Joe has continued to create amazing work on me that I am proud to have on my body. read more

Keep in mind that you should get everything in writing because THEY WILL LIE to ensure you do not receive "non-refundable" deposit, which in itself is a violation of Oregon Law ORS 646-607(2). In my case I took the word of Luke Moore that he would have preliminary artwork five days before my appointment which he failed to produce or even email or call to let us know he would not be doing this. When I contacted him 24 HOURS before to let him know this was needed to be done and his response we will just take more time during the appointment. I immediately told him I had back surgery the week before and it was important to minimize the time spent there and knowing what he would create before the appointment was a necessity. After even providing a rough illustration to speed up the process, I received no further contact from him and canceled my appointment through email to him and Dead Gods Tattoo. Since then I have contacted the BBB and AG of Oregon. DGT has responded to BBB saying that Luke never told me he would have artwork and that I only contacted them 24 minutes before the appointment and they are in compliance with ORS 646-607(2) by giving me repeated verbal statements of their 24 hours "refundable" cancellation policy as well it was written (illegible hand scrawled) notice on the receipt. Joseph Skramstad (owner) also stated Luke put two hours into the design which I have never seen. It should be noted that DGT spends a great deal of time telling you that your deposit is nonrefundable and they will work with you to reschedule and not once during the consultation did remember Luke telling me this and frankly don't remember being told at the time of payment about 24 hours notice, but more on how it was NONREFUNDABLE. It is clear that this business feels it is more important to lie and rationalize why I should not receive my deposit back than to work with me (who was even willing to prorate the deposit for the initial consultation). I will wait for my response from the AG, but sadly it seems this will wind up in court over a lie. read more

I am happy to give 5 stars on my first review since my Father died. About a year ago, My dad was diagnosed with a pretty rare form of brain cancer. It took his life from us about 2.5 months ago. I knew I wanted a tattoo to commemorate his memory, but I took me some time to figure out what that looked like for me. After taking some time to think about what would be good enough, I decided to get a tattoo of something he would say to me and my siblings when he told us how much he loved us. He would always say, "I love you so much, my heart soars like a hawk." Anytime he was happy with something we did, he would use this expression. I did a ton of research to find the best tattoo shop in Portland. After much searching I stumbled upon Dead Gods Tattoo Parlor. My mother also came with me and had a beautiful tattoo done on her ankle. We both had a general idea of what we wanted them to look like, but our tattoo artist Ashley took a lot of time perfecting both of our designs, and making them unique to us. We sent them emails of what we wanted them to look like so she could prepare them before we arrived. Our sessions began about 30 minutes after arriving for our appointments. We both filled out wavers and sat down to go through Ashley's tattoo book of all the work she's done. We are both so happy with the results of our tattoos and couldn't be more satisfied. They both took about 20 min each to complete, but they are both relatively small tattoos. She gave us very thorough "aftercare" instructions to follow which have been super easy. 2 weeks later they both are healing nicely and look fantastic! I couldn't recommend Ashely more. My "simple" tattoo is turning into a half sleeve and she just rolls with everything that I want to add to it. I was never impressed with the other artists at that other shop and I am so glad Will moved over here. The entire shop is very professional and they maintain one of the highest quality standards I have seen in a shop. Their creativity is second to none, I will warn those seeking flash tats this is not the best place to go for something you pick off a wall....partially cause they have no wall of flash. For amazing one of a kind pieces this is the place to go. I have been blown away by Will's work over and over again.
