On a whim, about 3 years ago, my sisters my mom and myself decided to get matching tattoos on the day we were leaving Portland. My sister found TigerLily and they had availability to get us all in prior to our flight. My sisters and mom ended up with another artist and I luckily got paired with Maryn, who is AWESOME!! She had super clean line work and just an overall cool, laid back vibe I have since gone back to her 3 times...and I live in Cali! She is gentle, great convo (not too much and no awkward silence), totally works with you to make sure your vision is what she is executing but will give you her professional opinion on what may work or not, great communication leading up to the appointment, and I really feel like I found a gem of a tattoo artist! This last round I had a couple different things done and saved my sternum for last...she made me feel so relaxed I didn't move and almost fell asleep! You will not be disappointed

    New knuckles; BABY BEAR.

BABY BEAR. I love Amy Cole. She has the most gentle touch, but she is just a beautifully talented human, with the most awesome heart. I'm blessed to be able to call her a friend. She placed my first tattoo, many years ago. Now, when I'm back in town, I will always see if she has an opening for me. I never really know when I'll be in Portland. She is a multifaceted tattoo artists. Great at a broad range of styles. She's placed work in many of my acquaintances and even my former husband. All glowing reviews of her. Love my new knuckles. Can't wait to see her for touch up and some trees soon.

Tattoo that I did not want!

I hate my tattoo and my artist scammed me out of a coverup. Do NOT GO THERE! Awful work and did a awful job.

    An original design.

Amazing work. They are very professional and a super clean facility. I highly recommend!

THIS WAS THE BEST TATTOO EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD! Ava is a total beast when it comes to tattooing! From the moment I walked in the door for the consultation she was really inviting and personable and was really psyched about collaborating on this tattoo of my cat. Her style is old hollywood and that is exactly what I was looking for! I have a really sassy kitty and wanted the tattoo to represent her personality and aloof demeanor, and Ava was able to really capture her essence in her mock-ups. When came in for the tattoo she had my kitty all drawn out and had brought some embellishment options as well which I loved! We were able to find a happy medium of aesthetic and functionality when it came to placing the embellishments - she was really honest with her suggestions and helped me see things from her perspective in terms of how the tattoo will look over time depending on where certain accents were placed. During the tattoo (my first portrait/color piece) she tattooed with a light hand and was super calm the whole time! I got this piece on my calf and even though I jolted a number of times, I can't find any jagged or unruly lines. The tattoo looks absolutely stunning and she event sold me some natural tattoo salve which healed my tattoo so much faster than aquaphore which everyone uses. Overall, this was a really positive experience and I left being extremely happy with my tattoo! Can't wait to go back for another!

I had an unclear vision of what I wanted for a tattoo. I knew I wanted a rose on my tricep, but I wasn't quite sure how it would play out. I gave Chris Ruppert an idea for a design and he took it, made it his own, and created something that was so much better than what I envisioned. This was my first time getting a tattoo. The staff at TigerLily was really laid back and down to earth. As soon as I came in, the intimidation factor completely dissipated. And once I was getting tattooed, my preconceived notions fell away. I would absolutely recommend TigerLily to all newcomers and repeats alike.

Custom tattoo I had done by Ava (Avalon Reynolds) I gave her an idea and she ran with it. I couldn't be happier.
    Jen Y.

I can not say enough about how much I love the custom tattoo Ava designed for me. I gave her a general idea of what I wanted and she ran with it. The result was far better than I imagined. She was able to combine my love of two hockey teams into one brilliant design. The process as a whole was a great experience. The staff is friendly, the price is reasonable and they genuinely care about the quality of their work. Especially Ava (Avalon Reynolds), she really takes her time to make sure she gets what you want but isn't afraid to give her opinion. Which she has great ideas so listen to her. I couldn't be happier and I will definitely be back for another one. I highly recommend Ava and Tigerlilly Tattoo.

Owl tattoo done by Christopher Ruppert at TigerLily Tattoo.
    Jack H.

Christopher Ruppert did my first two tattoos (dragon on my lower leg and an owl on my upper arm) and they are both amazing, I absolutely love them. I get complemented on my tattoo's all the time. Getting a custom tattoo is a collaborative process, Ruppert took the time to walk me through the process, we worked on a few different concepts and he delivered beyond my expectation. I appreciate all the time and effort Ruppert took to create make them perfect, he certainly doesn't rush the process because he knows how important it is to get it right. Everyone who works for TigerLily are super friendly and great to talk to. If you are looking for an awesome custom tattoo I would highly recommend TigerLily.

Walked-in and discussed what I wanted with Toby. The time he had available that day didn't work for me, so we scheduled for the next day. I emailed him 3 pictures to design from. One for the arrow, one for the mountain, and one showing how I wanted them combined. The next day I arrived for my appointment and his design exceeded my expectations, it wasn't a copy of anything I had sent him; it was his artistic interpretation and better than I imagined. I was glad to have his advice and creative opinions with this tattoo, which is a tribute to my son. I'd highly recommend Toby!

My friend and I were wanting matching plastic vampire teeth tattoos since it'd be Halloween weekend and he was so kind when I told him what we wanted and mentioned he hadn't finished his flash sheet so he'd add in the teeth, (spoiler, they were PERFECT). The day we were planning on coming in was their planned flash day so we knew we had to anticipate a potential wait. The rainy Portland weather was in our favor because, even though we were unable to make our way in at 10:30AM as he recommended, we ventured in at 3PM and still got a spot in line. Jared was great, adding the text I wanted to my flash, and even touching up a small hand/wrist tattoo that was poorly done by someone else in a different state prior. Truly, so thankful he answered the phone that day bc I got a great vibe from him. He was also able to successfully turn my "splotch" knuckle tattoo (my loving nickname for it) to a beautiful black skull that ACTUALLY STAYED PUT (it was the 4th attempt over an old scar I had and he was the only one to successfully have a tattoo stick on it without it looking weird once healed). Since Jared was short on time before an appt, Ali did my friends matching fangs and they both turned out amazingly. Overall, I now fully intend to make the journey from Sacramento to Portland anytime I want something done so I can specifically have him do it or his shop-mate that does phenomenal portrait style flash/tattoos (she was diagonal from us when we were there - blonde long hair and beanie). The shop was super clean, artists were all super friendly, front desk apprentice was easy on the eyes, what's not love? 100/10 could not recommend this place enough!

Sarah listens closely to what you want and then finds a cute, stylish way to make it work. Her placement is precise, she has a firm yet gentle touch, and her use of color is fantastic (both color theory and saturation). I've never been hip and now I'm getting old, so I'm quite used to feeling anxiously out-of-place in tattoo shops, but Scapegoat is more approachable and welcoming than your average shop. They go out of their way to offer water, space heaters, heating pads, masks, or whatever else might make you feel most comfortable. The artists seem to support and treat each other kindly. I made the terrible decision to be tattooed by Toby. I went in to start on a full sleeve, although it wasn't technically a full sleeve but a 3/4 sleeve. I have a tattoo on my upper arm that takes up half of my upper arm. During my 1st appointment we discussed that we are going to keep and incorporate that one. At my 1st appointment Toby told me that it would take 3 sessions since it wouldn't be an actual full sleeve. I paid for a full day session. He told me at my 1st appt that the stop time will be once I tap out. Our first session he ended early and said that his kids were sick. He specifically told me that our next session won't be the same. He also said our next session wouldn't take as long to get started. I went back in for my 2nd session yesterday at 10am. He showed up late like he did for our 1st appt. It wasn't until about 11am that he started drawing on me. It took him about 4 hours to draw on me. Keep in mind we haven't even started on my upper arm. He was drawing on my lower arm. Finally by 3pm we get started tattooing. The table wasn't working properly so he had to reset up a new one. Then some random person walks in looking for a tattoo. He stopped tattooing me to go chat with the person. Then throughout my entire session he purposely inflicts maximum pain. He seems to think that I don't have any large or decent pieces. I have my entire back done. I also have portraits and pieces on my legs. I have good quality work in those areas. I only mentioned to him that I wanted my back covered up, but because I don't like it anymore and don't have those beliefs anymore. It's not due to the quality. The tattoos that he was starting to cover on my arm are much older tattoos that I got when I was younger. Based off of that I suppose he thinks I don't know any better. My ex is also a tattoo artist so I understand needle groupings, heavy hands vs light hands, dry wipe vs wet wipe etc. Throughout my entire session he never finished a single area. He jumps from area to area throughout the entire process. He would randomly jump from my wrist, elbow, side of arm, just all over the place. He opens up the area and works on it for a while, then moves to another area for like 20min or so, then moves back to the area he opened up. He inflicts serious pain. I hinted to him several times that each time you do that it hurts much worse. He never listened and continued to do it. I told him from the start that I wanted to work in a particular area first. He didn't listen. He is super heavy handed intentionally. He dry wipes with a paper towel the whole time. He inflicts maximum pain to attempt to get you to tap early. At the very start of our 2nd session after the marker was drawn on, I flat out asked him will you be able to finish this today to which he yes. By about 10pm he said we should call it a night. I literally only had maybe 1/2 of a half sleeve. There was so much work to complete still. I told him no I want to keep going. He didn't want to but I was persistent. So we get back to tattooing. I asked him flat out why did you tell me that we would have this finished today if that isn't the case. He said well there are a lot of factors like the way a client takes pain. I told him he put me in a ton of pain but I never once stopped him so what do you mean. I told him I feel lied to, taken advantage of, and just how unhappy I was by this and that I won't be continuing with him. I was planning on getting 2 full sleeves, full chest piece, and a cover up on my entire back. I told him you literally told me that for a full day session that it means we stop once I tap out. He got extremely combative. He said that in the fine print says he only tattoos 7 hrs max. I said why did you lie to me then? He ended up calling me an asshole and threatened to stop my work mid session to leave it. He said it's his right to do so. I said that I'd leave a review about this and he said that's "thats fine, I don't give a f". I'm not sure if he ended up texting his family or people or what. But suddenly around midnight all his people showed up at the tattoo studio I guess to try to intimidate me. I paid $ 3,225 in total and I don't have a completed half sleeve. I don't even have a single section of my arm that is complete due to him jumping around constantly. Literally not even one single area of this "half sleeve" is completed. During our argument he scoffed at me and was the mentality of how dare you .. but he admitted flat out a full sleeve is 5 grand. I said okay and I've paid over 3 grand now and I don't even have a completed half sleeve. He refuses to take accountability. He is a very selfish mentality, a liar, and he will gaslight you the entire time. He pretends to be a nice person but he is absolutely not. He takes advantage of people and rips them off.
