Let me pause for a second and gawk at the bureaucratic inefficiency that is the Oregon DMV........ But it seems that this location has tried to streamline the DMV process so we are not there for hours (tho I was there for HOURS to take a driver's license test). First when you walk in you are greeted by a super "chipper" lady that asks you what you are there for, then she either gives you a number or a pass. She also will give you the necessary forms to fill out. Then you sit and fill out the form and wait for your number if you have one. I think this process is a lot better than other State DMV of grabbing your own number and just sit there and wait. Honestly, because I was there for hours, I am very reluctant to give them a good review. They had 1 person working the front while 2 person working the number tickets, 1 person working driver's test and another working on the written test system. I wish they had more people working since they had 6 open counters and only 2 has someone working at it. To me it just doesn't make sense, but I guess that is part of the government bureaucracy and inefficiency that everyone complains about. read more

Walked in 20 minutes before close. They got me in and out with 10 minutes to spare. The staff was fast, and friendly. I come from the time that a trip to the dmv was a half day thing. So this was nice, and those that complain that it takes too long have no idea what too long is. read more

I went to the DMV (Sherwood) today to explore the procedure to get a totaled car I own properly titled (with brand) to sell. I was told that if I could go ahead and sell the car but the buyer would have to get a branded title. But, the clerk told me that the person buying the car would have to bring the vehicle in so the DMV could see it. I explained that the car was inoperable but the clerk said "no matter, the new owner still has to bring it in". I said can he fix it and then bring it in for a branded title? Incredibly the clerk said "no, he has to bring it in before it is operable". I told him that was highly implausible and that I wanted to speak to his superior but he refused to do so. So, I'll just go to another branch where they may know a little more than the incredibly stupid clerk at the Sherwood DMV. read more

This DMV by far provided the worst service to me. Last year, someone from there told me the age to get the non provisional license is 18. Today, I went and filled out a form for getting my non provisional license, I waited for at least an hour before they called my number, and then once it was my turn, they told me the age to get a non provisional license is 21. They freakin' screwed me over! They wasted my time, when I could be doing a million other things! This is by far the worst experience I have ever had, as one person from there lied to me last year! These people should get their minds in the right order! Such poor service! read more

Super rude. They told me to fill out an application with the wrong info (i was changing my name and told them I DID NOT WANT TO CHANGE MY ADDRESS). The guy told me where to put my address I wanted to keep and told me to put the address I wanted it mailed to on another line/I VERIFIED WITH HIM THAT THE MAILING ADDRESS WOULD NOT BE THE ADDRESS TO SHOW UP ON MY CARD, however it was. I called the dmv and they told me it would take 3 days to pull my application so I went in. They told me since I put both address on the form it would show both on my license. I said I only put both because you told me the mailing address wouldn't show up! How am I supposed to know how to fill out your forms, that's why I asked specifically how to do it! Lady told me I would need to pay another fee to fix it! Manager came out and you could tell was just being short and rude. Said I put it that way and I kept telling her well duh because you're employee told me to! Said they wouldn't waive the fee to correct it and manager was just being a B. Honestly was some of the rudest "customer service" I've ever had. Yes I understand you're a government office but there's a reason why people ask how to fill out these forms correctly... there's a lot of info that needs to be right so if I ask and verify stuff then it gets done differently then what I'm told you can't then turn around and make it my fault! Yes lines are short but EDUCATE your employees on forms if they're giving out incorrect info! And at least be understanding of whats going on when talking to people who come in with a problem INSTEAD of having such a off putting attitude from the start! I told the manager they should go over the forms with the employees again because TWO people I talked to told me what I put for the "mailing address" would not show up on the card and she shortly replies "I'll make sure to bring it up at the next meeting" like in a voice that obviously shows she's just trying to get rid of me, but like lady I'm fed up with you too... I had to call and speak to someone on the phone, then drive and wait at the DMV, just for nothing to be done to correct the incorrect info given by YOUR EMPLOYEES. So whatever, I'll keep the address how it is because why would I pay you again to fix your mistake but they need to be way more mindful when they're dealing with people making changes on things that are as important as identification cards. read more

i went here for plates and tags around the 1st of june. I was told it might take up to 8 to 10 weeks to recieve my registration and plates . Then , they implemented a new system to speed things up . still havent received my stuff so i called and was told under the new system it could take 10 to 12 weeks . bullshit ! Now its been 12 weeks and the person from dmv has no clue as to when. This is a lot of money the dmv has and i havent received what ive paid for ! Apparently the computer system isnt the problem .Now its been 17 weeks so i called again. This time the person apologized for the delay and let me know it would be several months more . I personally would consider giving eveyone working there an evaluation as to see if they can actually use a computer. This didnt speed things up for them at all . Bring in some new younger people who are sharp and fast . something is really wrong here . read more

Not bad when comparing to CA DMV. I took away a star since they make you stand in line when there are seats available. They call you up in groups of about 10 people and have you arrange yourself in order while standing in line again for them to call your numbrer. UGH. why couldnt I just wait while seated. The other star I took away was for the fact that the customer service was lacking. Employees there seem to just be on slow motion. read more

I have been struggling to get the registration changed on a used Jeep I bought. After several frustrating trips to the DMV, and trying to find previous owners, sending registered letters, I, in total desperation, called DMV. My call was answered by Sean. He was wonderful. I Paid to have my drivers license renewed last year in February. I received an email four months after that stating there was a problem with the post office and that it had been returned and destroyed. I have since been told by Oregon dmv that I need to repay for the card that I have already payed for. Okay sure, so I am then told that I can only order the card online, however i have been trying for literally a year and a half now to get the license in every way possible and eighteen months later still have yet to be able to obtain a physical copy of my license. No matter what I try i believe i will never see a physical copy of my license ever again, because no matter how many months in a row i call to get this item or how many attempts at doing this online that fail over and over i am still given the same nonsense excuses and sent to different agents that do not resolve the fact i cant get my freaking license from you and i have been trying for EIGHTEEN MONTHS. read more

I don't know why this place got so many negative review on here but on my two visits, I had a really good experience! The staffs were very friendly and helpful and works fast to get the line moving. No one was idling around. Every single staff was awesome. The office is small but organize. I always find myself lost in DMV office but not this one. read more

The place is always packed. But it's inside the same complex as Winco and Harbor Freight tools. So, what I usually do, I take a number from the DMV, then go shopping or have lunch at the stores in that complex. read more

The DMV epitomizes everything that's wrong with America. Think you own your car? Not if you don't have an original copy of some obscure form. Don't have an original copy of the bill of sale either? No soup for you. You can stand there for hours literally begging them to just take your money, but if something isn't filled out properly the end is nigh and all hope is lost. Had an appointment for the driving test at 8am. Have been too early (better safe than sorry). After the office opened they told me that the test will not be before 8:30 to 9:00. WTF? Delays can happen over the day, but if they give me the first appointment for the test in the morning, I expect them to be at least close to on time! read more

Going in to renew my license last week, I was so pleasantly surprised at the fast and courteous service. I've never had to wait too terribly long when coming to this DMV, but this time was amazing! I went in with my documents and got my number. I was called right up to the counter and helped by a most friendly woman who was so cheerful doing her job. Then I had about a 5 minute wait to be called up to get my picture taken. This next lady was also very friendly, going out of her way to be nice. She took my picture and I was in and out of there well inside of 25 minutes. It had to be a record of some kind. While there, I noticed a couple who were being outright jerks. Neither of them had the right documents they needed and were taking it out on DMV staff as if it were their fault. The person helping them was still calm and courteous despite their poor behavior. I think the Hillsboro DMV is very efficient at what they do and they manage to do it with a smile on their face. If you show up with the right paperwork and a good attitude, you will have a good experience too. read more

It is a DMV, it sucks! I didn't find it to be any better or any worse than any other DMV I have ever been to. The line starts here early, if you plan on coming for opening to beat the rush, come at least 30-45 minutes before the doors open and lineup. read more

People tend to only leave feedback when they have a negative experience. I on the other hand thought the entire experience was the awesome. I've been to several DMVs in other states and the Oregon DMV by far took the least amount of time and had the least amount of required paperwork. I kept asking the DMV employee if that was it because it was so efficient and easy. Keep up the good work. read more

Suprisingly rude CSR when I called the DMV line today. I just needed answers to a few questions, and was hoping to get some advice on my situation. To my dismay he didn't even allow me to finish a sentence, cut me off several times, was unable to give me any information other than a yes/no answer which was information I already had. Complete waste of time. I'm sorry if you are having a bad day or hate your​ job/life/spouse etc., but do not take it out on innocent people trying to use your place of business. If there was another option for these services in Oregon customer service like this would put you out of business. read more

This is hard for me to write as I truly enjoy going to the DMV. Nothing like watching adults get told they've failed a drivers test or that they can't read the instructions and forget section C part B documents at home. However my last trip was nothing but problems. I show up and diligently grab my number, grab the respected paperwork, ask about renewing my license and changing my address and am told, "You've got all the forms just put it right there." An hour and a half later, about 2 crying teens and 3 adults are told "thank you, try again", my number gets called and I am asked for the paperwork and my $40. I try to bring up that I move and requesting what documents they need and am told, "nope already seen it at the door. You're good to go get your picture." Wait an additional 10 minutes, get my picture am asked to verify my address and it's incorrect. It is in fact an old address that I lived at a year ago. I find it extremely alarming that my current address was listed on the forms as well as the renewal letter was sent to my current address but I was able to print my license with the wrong address without verification? I inform the lady at the picture counter and am told to take a seat or a number and wait. Excuse me? I did EVERYTHING I was supposed to but I now have to wait for possibly another hour for the mistake to be made? I think not. I didn't anticipate the system to break and although I thought 2 hours of my day was an acceptable allowance to take away from work. I guess I'm going to take a vacation day next trip to the DMV. I now have a license that has the wrong address and am told the only thing I can do is submit for a sticker on the website. PERFECT! Thanks DMV! read more

As far as DMV's go this one is thee best one I have been to EVER. I've been here twice and the first time I went in mid-day and told the front desk person I just needed a month sticker for my license plate--- to which she got up and got me one instead of making me wait in line. She had me at "oh no problem." My second trip here was to change my name. As a California transplant I was expecting to be there at MINIMUM an hour even though I planned to be there 45 minutes before it opened. To my surprise I was only the 6th person in line and I didn't get there until 7:45 and it opened at 8. That's unheard of in CA as if you don't show up by 6am you're going to be at best #50 and wait an hour even with an appointment. I was in and out with my new temporary drivers license and registration in 20 minutes! I did 3 transactions at 2 different windows. Awesome! The people working here were pleasant-- although again it was only 10 minutes into their shift so they hadn't yet answered the same question for the 100th time. I think the people who are going to complain the most are those who go in the middle/end of the day, of course there's going to be a wait but look at it this way Oregonians... in California you don't go to the DMV after 12pm because between the lunch breaks and the 4:30 last call you will not be seen the same day-- and yes they will kick you out if it's past closing time even if you've been waiting!! So an hour or two wait when you didn't get there util 1:30 without an appointment nor your correct paperwork really isn't so bad. read more

visiting the dmv can only be described as cruel and unusual punishment. the staffs in this location seem nice enough, but seriously nothing can ameliate the fact that the line moves in snails pace and that the stations behind the counter are NEVER fully staffed. Seriously 2-3 ppl serving the entire dmv is ridiculous. Not only that, but the dmv hours have changed due to budget cut and no longer opened on the weekends....which means if you're employed and work the usual weekday hrs, you're just out of luck. be prepared to take an entire day off work, then spend it getting pissed off sitting in the lobby for hrs. Unsure if other locations are quite this bad but may be a good idea to check out the other dmvs first. read more

Horrible! I just took my drivers test and has a jerk of an instructor. Guy with both ears peirced. He yelled at me and was very rude. He marked me for stupid things like going 27 in a 25 zone. And not stopping at crosswalks that did not even have a stop sign. I reported him. I hope you never have to deal with him. Horrible experience. read more

Cornelius DMV next to Winco. HORRIBLE, Horrible. Go somewhere else. It took all day, and repeated visits. They have a 20-yr-old "gatekeeper" in front, she checks your forms. BUT she's very petty and ARBITRARY on what she views as "proper" proof of residency. I came in with a portfolio of types of proof of residency--she rejected most of it. I made the mistake of having my PO Box and street address on my license, as well as my car registration, so it was "tainted". All my bills are electronically paid, nothing comes to the house, so I don't have that as proof. My taxes had my PO box AND street address, so that was "tainted". I ended up going home 3 times trying to find "proper" proof. I had my Birth Certificate--she took that out of the slipcover, stroked it all over, shined a light through it, she was VERY dubious about it. In the end, it was junk mail that saved me, and she didn't want to accept that, but I insisted it fulfilled DMV website rules. If that had failed, I'm sure I could have done what 90% of the other folks inside do, which is pay a guy from the parking lot to vouch that I live at XYZ address. Basically, I've been licensed for almost 40 years, but almost didn't get renewed this time, due to a PO Box. IN CONTRAST: I also watched a lot of possible illegal immigrants get fast-tracked through, no problem, with so-called "buddies" to vouch for their residency. Just some random guy's verbal say-so, no checking. I also watched an elderly man wait almost 3 hours only to be told his medical form (not his condition) had changed VERY slightly in the last few months, and he was going to have to go make another appointment and get the slightly updated form signed by the Dr., and then come back and wait in line. PLEASE AUDIT THIS OFFICE: Send in incognito auditors to check on people treatment, petty bullying, wait times, and rules followed. Maybe a purge of the staff should be in order. read more
