We have been extremely satisfied with their service, rates and employees. Recently they really went above and beyond for us when we had an issue with our health care provider, Atrio Health Plans. In the process of changing accounting systems, Atrio totally fouled up our monthly electronic payment and charged us four times for one premium payment Calls to Atrio management failed to solve the problem and we would have been out a substantial amount of money if HGFCU hadn't stepped in and refunded the money Atrio "mistakenly" withdrew. Instead of us having to do battle with the inept accounting department at Atrio, HGFCU intervened on our behalf. In addition to being extremely professional, HGFCU staff know us and provide personalized service. Five Stars!

If you want nice friendly reps, false verbal promises, bait and switch tactics, randomly incorrect…read moremath, iffy accounting, and never ending 'special' insurance documents in the mail that you must have forgotten to sign... Well then, this is your place. You know that feeling when you realize the sweet salesperson is actually cooperating with the manager of the used car lot and that you aren't such a good judge of character after all. Well, it's a lot like that sinking feeling. Examples: 1) I refinanced my vehicle during a divorce (short on time and mental capacity). My salesperson did a hard sale on 'special insurance' with the promise we'd review the 'special' deals shortly thereafter (never happened). Turns out the 'special' insurance was as valuable as a Radio Shack warranty. Also, the fees were pulled from my principle which increases the loan duration and interest owed - something that Mr. Salesman seemed to have forgotten in the sales pitch. Can you say payday loan tactic? I should have bailed here but everyone was sooo nice... 2) I transferred some debt and was told the credit rating cutoff for the lowest interest rate. Knowing that my rating was well over 50 points higher, I agreed verbally to the transfer. After a few payments, I rechecked the math (see below) and found the interest rate was about double what was verbally promised. I complained. Heritage Grove said I was approved for the higher rate based on a credit score from MANY YEARS ago. When I replied that this was a ridiculous business practice, I was told that my complaint was not valid because no one else complained (a second ridiculous statement for many reasons). The excuse was that Heritage Grove just doesn't check credit scores for these 'special' credit-score deals (based on credit scores) unless the customer reminds them too (and doesn't disclose that rather pivotal information either). In short, I was stuck with the higher interest rate. Too bad so sad. Can you say bait and switch? 3) Heritage Grove used a method to identify deposit accounts that was kind of... let's say... not industry standard. A deposit was applied to the wrong account and when they fixed it, the accounting was wrong. Can you say the most basic skill set a bank should have is ACCOUNTING? 4) I have a few examples of incorrect math both by loan reps and in the somewhat automated accounting system. But they were sooo nice... Can you say buy a calculator? 5) And the never-ending 'special' deals sent by mail that are packaged with that 'you forgot to sign' type language. Can you say predatory marketing is most effective against seniors? Luckily, I'm not a poor person anymore and can escape after only being bilked for a few hundred dollars (adds up quick - especially with transfer/refinance fees when leaving Heritage Grove). You've been warned. Proceed at your own risk.

They began in 1957 in Corvallis, Oregon and unlike many other banks which began in this fine state, they stuck around and are STILL headquartered here in (Corvallis) Oregon!! What earns this five-star review is their unparalleled level of customer service; never any lines because every employee is always willing to help a customer, always a real person answering the phone when I call, got to know me by name from the day I opened my account, immediately takes care of any issue I have and even checks in with me to see if they can improve their customer service! It's an old-fashioned handshake-kind-of-feel with a modern twist. The Salem branch in particular is a great one because it's of that newer micro-branch kind of design. A small downtown footprint however, big enough to send an employee out to my business whenever I need help with remote deposit capture or the need for a notary when in a pinch. If you're unhappy with your financial institution, give them a call or stop by. You won't regret it, trust me!

They are very serious about customer service to the likes of which I haven't experienced at other banking institutions although they try cannot come close. To my benefit the Business Relations Team including Sean and last but not least Maria l. Sauceda who's communication of the banking process was highly appreciated I left saying "This has got to be the best bank in town, I'm lucky to have this team working for me!" so thanks a lot keep up the hard work. They are verbally abusive, especially some of the agents. We have had 2 agents change on us without notice or change addresses without any notice, then we had to jump on the band wagon ASAP in order to obtain an agent. My current situation/claim with Sublimity makes me happy that the claim, that was not my fault, is only on one of our cars, & NOT our home. If one has to contact the Insurance Commissioner in Salem for help & guidance, as we did, what does that say about this insurance company? After all is said & done, we plan to drop this company like a hot potato & get a company that's more reputable & professional.

Unfortunately this business has gone down hill since Khari the old bank manager left. The newer…read morebank manager Jesse has made this business atmosphere " toxic"! You feel backstabbed after you leave. Her employee Angela is her best friend. This is unethical. I have heard both of them complain about an employee who is no longer there. Run from this place FAST!!! Go with a credit union that makes you feel good to have your money there. The owner of this credit union has remained quiet when I complained about the atmosphere there. There is not very many First Communities therefore you can not be accommodated when out of town. You have to see same crappy employees . With other credit unions you can go to a near by location.
