If I could give a 10-star review, this would be it. I decided to hire Randy at Oregon Brick after reading his customer reviews and seeing the photos of his work. As you can see from the "before" picture of our project, it was pretty much a blank canvas at the start. We knew kind of what we wanted, but that's about it. I enjoyed working with Randy from the start. Communication is the KEY to success on projects and I commend him for his emails and texts. I knew when he was going to arrive and when there were any issues. He was so incredibly patient with us as well, as we were deciding some of the materials as the job was progressing. He and his team were consummate professionals from start to finish. The photos not posted, of the very, very wet and cold days would show the tented areas and the mud. I felt like I wanted to apologize every day. There were a couple changes I made mid-project and Randy was awesome about just making it happen - and quickly! I'm not sure I've seen someone work harder and have such talent in their craft. He knew things only decades of experience teach you. In closing, I would just say that anyone I come across that needs any type of stone or masonry work done will be getting referred to Oregon Brick. We had Randy create an outdoor fireplace and pizza oven combination. He helped create the design based on what we were looking for, sent samples of different brick colors/choices, and communicated with us through the entire process. Randy did an outstanding job on my entire yard. Not only did he demo and re-do my entire driveway he re-did my entire entry way and poured me a sidewalk from my driveway to my backyard and 2 cement slabs in my backyard. I am so in awwww at the amazing attention to detail he took to transform my vision into reality. The pictures do not do it justice, I get compliments by everyone and have even had several people stop just to ask me who did my driveway. He assisted me in picking out matching bricks and even the exact color I wanted the grout to be. He added LED lights to all my steps that just make my home POP. Randy and his crew turned my patio into something my neighbors envy. Randy initially gave me a rough window of when I could expect the work to be done, and then as the time came closer he sent multiple emails with a more exact time. The work took a couple weeks, and the team picked up as best they could in the evenings-it was a construction site and disarray is inevitable. They put plywood down to protect the stones on the walk to the backyard, and were just generally thoughtful about their work. That showed in the little touches-like adding a slight curve around a plant (requiring a lot more block cutting work on their part) when they could have squared it off. The little curve, though, is one of the things I like about the project, and it's a finishing detail we didn't discuss. Just an example of when you have skilled craftsmen doing work, their eye and experience makes the project better. read more

I debated on whether or not to write this review, because frankly, Randy scares me. However, I feel it's my duty as a community member to do so. In my opinion, he deserves zero stars, but that's not an option. Randy (I think it was Randy? He only yelled at me, never introduced himself...) showed up at our house unannounced and unexpected, 2 months after initially contacting him. I was in the kitchen with my two small children, finishing up lunch before having to rush back into another online school session. I saw a disheveled looking man wandering around our front porch. We are new to our neighborhood and several neighbors have warned us that there had been some break-ins during the months before we arrived and I had seen a highly suspicious guy in the woods beside our house a few mornings prior. This guy now wandering around our front porch set me on high alert instantly. There was nothing to indicate any sort of professional affiliation, no company listed on his vehicle, a dirty shirt on, and messy hair. No mask, unlike every other contractor we've seen over the last two months since moving in. Now, I too am disheveled these days. I have to help with online school all day for my 5 and 8 year olds, it's freaking Coronavirus! So no judgment! But someone showing up to your house in a professional capacity should, at the very least, indicate in some way that they are doing so. He didn't even alert us that he was coming or that he was here. In any case, I thought we had a prowler. So, I went out, said "hello?" and walked across the porch to try and find out who he is. I am the person who walks into a fire to protect my kids, rather than run away... maybe not the smartest thing to do, but instincts! Then I saw the concrete extruder in his hand, which had been hidden from view completely, and said "oh, you must be the stone mason". I was polite and kind with my introduction. He was not. He grunted at me, and then, without even introducing himself, he started calling me a Marxist. We have a sign in our front yard that he apparently disagrees with. Making his point is also clearly more important to him than professionalism or common decency. I told him to leave several times, because it really wasn't worth my time discussing the issue with him. Did I mention I had to get my kid back to online class? he refused to leave, and continued with his tirade and then I got angry. Mama tiger, who was already on high alert from thinking there was a prowler in our front yard, made her appearance. I yelled at him, he yelled back. I told him to leave repeatedly before finally telling him to eff off and that I was going to call the police and inform the builder who hired him and slamming the door. I am not proud of how I behaved, and would have done a few things differently, but nobody ever not ever deserves to be treated this way by someone showing up to their home in a professional capacity, especially in front of their children. For an hour after, my two kids were checking our security system, checking the doors to be sure they were locked, searching out the window to make sure he wasn't coming back. I did my best to try an laugh it off and make them feel safe, but they were so stressed. We missed our next lesson. Every time my 5 year old saw a car coming up the road, she yelled "mommy, is it him???" I was shaken up for the rest of the day. Anytime we have anything delivered, my child still asks, with fear in her eyes, "is it a red truck??!" Randy terrorized and harassed us. He did not show up in a professional way. I have contacted the builder who will never ever refer to him again. My hope, with this review, is that he will change how he shows up for clients, but I doubt his capacity to do so. I am scared Randy is going to show up with his band of buddies and do damage to our house or to my family, either in retaliation for our sign (which is beautiful and is all about our beliefs, not our politics btw) and/or this review. But, people should know who they are letting into their space. He attempted to use his position to intimidate and harass a mom at home alone with her two small children, and he succeeded. I read all the reviews before posting and I agree with them, except the 1 star review where no work was even done. Randy does impeccable work and deserves 5 stars. He put in a pathway for me and it is solid! Survived the ice storm of 2021 where I had large branches crashing down on it. I only wish I had found him before i chose the company to do my back patio. He is currently working on a bid for the front of my house...because he knows what he's doing and gets It done. Not to mention, when he's done...it's left clean and tidy. You won't regret hiring him and nothing in the 1 star review was ever experienced by me. read more

Isn't it beautiful!? I couldn't be happier! I was able to watch the process day by day and saw Randy meticulously getting every aspect of this project perfect, from drainage to every stone bonded in place, every curve perfectly cut. These stones will not be moving:)! He is the owner and laid every stone himself, I always appreciate that because of the pride involved when it is your business. (He did have one guy to help move supplies, cut, etc.) There were many more steps and layers than I realized! Definitely not a do it yourself job. He cut no corners, when the wrong sand was delivered, he had it replaced, when the stones couldn't be delivered in a timely fashion, he took numerous trips to get it himself so the project could stay on schedule, all this at no extra expense to me. He always texted me to let me know when he would be there and when he wouldn't (like when it was raining at a time when everything had to be dry and he had what was done covered in plastic, and even made a special trip out to make sure everything was still covered) . We interviewed several landscape companies and contractors before deciding on Randy and his team for our project after seeing his work. Also, because I could not find one company that could do concrete, electrical rough-in, flagstone, and custom poured concrete all in one. Randy knows his stuff. Our fire pit/patio project was extremely detailed and involved a 60' long trench to get electricity wired to the back of our property. I had drawn up a sketch of what I had in mind, and Randy brought it to life! It is even better than I could have imagined. The lighting he added under the seat ledges is so beautiful at dusk and him going the extra mile to do the wiring for the post lighting and adding an outlet to the back of the structure was an added thoughtful bonus. We use it all of the time! We are now the neighborhood party house on the weekends and Randy has already done work for two of my neighbors with great results. We are asking him to redo our driveway this spring and look forward to it. He was so patient with me, as I can be quite a picky fuss. He just made sure we were happy. read more

We had our driveway and sidewalks done by Randy. We had an old (1960) broken down asphalt driveway and broken down/cracked sidewalk from our back door to the front gate. He did an amazing job and was very picky about how the job was done. He stayed one night very very late to ensure the concrete was setting properly since it was pretty cold. We had a lot of water coming from the street into our driveway to our garage and Randy & crew did a GREAT job redirecting water in different directions! Amazing. I had no idea you could redirect water like that with concrete. We didn't have anything real fancy (exposed aggregate), but we are very pleased with the results and the manner in which the crew left the place after they were done. We think for all the work he/his crew did, the price was very reasonable. We paid cash, so not idea about Randy taking credit. read more
