The decision to come to Provo was one of your finest, UTA. You are serving a needy population very well. FrontRunner is simply awesome. It's so affordable for Wasatch Front runs all the way North to Pleasant View. In case you don't know where that is - like me - it's just North of Ogden. Provo's parking lot is huge; one of the largest in the state I believe. Even considering the growing number of riders departing from Provo, I've never seen the lot full. People watching is one of the best aspects of public transportation in general. FrontRunner is certainly no exception. You can nab yourself a front row seat to an impressive selection of some of Utah's best cheap entertainment. There are quite a few stops along the I-15 corridor and they all seem to be relatively well appointed and maintained. I wouldn't want to really hang out at many of them by myself in the evening simply because they do seem to be a hangout for the homeless faction. The Provo stop is, again, no exception. UTA makes it about as easy as it gets to zip up and down the Wasatch Front. For regular commuters I can't imagine not taking advantage of it. I'm a big fan of FrontRunner. Plus, the trains have bathrooms, free wifi and charging stations at seats with tables. Score.

Currently a student at Utah Valley University and we get free these services for free and I was so excited to try out this service. I absolutely love it and has helped me save so much gas, I rarely use my car! The stations don't have any bathrooms so make sure you go before you head out to your next destination. Also, sometimes they tend to leave right at the mark of the time listed on the bus,l and train schedule, they usually don't wait very long. I suggest getting there 5-10 minutes prior to the bus or train leaving. That way you're on time and I'm no rush to run to your next stop. No food is allowed to be eaten on the bus. If you are packing food, be sure to bring a backpack to store food in. It's common curtesy and it'll make everyone's bus or train experience pleasant. Im giving it four stars because sometimes they are late to certain stops (I.e taking bus to catch the front runner and missing it because the bus was caught in traffic or driver was late) I recommend leaving a bus stop earlier, but overall it's not too bad.

Luckily it wasn't too hot out, so the car was comfortable as the windows were all open. Staff at the ticket booth and on the train were friendly. The train was packed and the ride itself was no more than an hour and a half total. It was cool to see the trains but I'm not sure that I would do it again. They did have an old time "sheriff" on board who cracked a few jokes. They also had folks playing the fiddle who played some classic songs and took requests on the way back. Primarily though you are on board to enjoy the ride. Their themed rides may be a little more fun depending on what you're into. If you want to kill an hour or two, this will fill your time. They do have restrooms and a small gift shop where you check in before you board.

You won't have to fight for parking space. As far as Costco goes, it's in walking distance, but because you usually buy in large quantities your probably won't want to ride the trax. This is the location where you would catch the front runner going either North or South. Area was clean, and wait time was less than 10 minutes. Not knowing the time schedule we didn't have to wait long because on weekends the trax only runs every half hour. This is conference weekend, and hardly anyone was on the train, which made for a nice comfortable ride into town.

Just a few random tidbits that you might find useful if you're riding TRAX (Salt Lake's light rail…read moretransit system) and you're stopping or passing through Midvale. There are two Midvale Stations. This is the northern one, and lets you off pretty much at 7200 S. It's the more popular of the two for amenities, so to speak (shopping, connections with bus routes) but the other one is easier to navigate. The other is at 7800 S. You can't access this directly from the north, by turning off of 7200 S. Instead, you have to go to the traffic light at 180 West (the road that would take you past Sportsman's Warehouse) and turn to the south. You'll go down that street about a block, then turn right and you'll enter the parking lot. There's lots of parking here, as it's a very popular commuter stop for folks going into downtown, or down south--it's on the southern side of being halfway. There's also a bus loop on the south side here, where you can transfer away to bus lines to get where you need to go. This is also one stop away from Fashion Place West, which is the transfer station to the red line that takes you southwest to Daybreak. If you needed to go on that line and you were headed south, you've gone too far.

There are plenty of maps and signs to follow, making this easy and accessible to all. There are a couple of stations that meet with the Frontrunner, so make sure if you're transferring that you know which direction you need to go--Murray Central and Salt Lake Central. This Blue Line in particular heads south to Draper and north up to Ogden. The train is warm, great to use if you're worried about driving a car(especially in the winter), and fast. It's not the cleanest and I've seen a few homeless people hop on and ride as long as they can, but they aren't bothersome. Have fun, and if it's your first time figuring out the system GOOD LUCK! One can use the light rail to get to the special buses they run during the ski season. Also, the fare you pay on the uta trax can be applied to the ski bus fare just show the driver your trax ticket. Also within central downtown salt lake city there is a free fare zone for those who want to do things like shopping

Reminded me strongly of the…read moreone in Sacramento in that you pay a flat $2.50 for your ticket and that lets you ride any line in any direction for 2.5 hours with everything converging on a downtown hub, but this one seems less sprawling and better laid out, also zero ghetto folk blasting awful local rap out of their phones and getting into petty squabbles. And not nearly as crowded either, I was going in and out of downtown on a weekend and there was plenty of seating each time. Ticket machines at every station that take credit cards no matter how far out and helpful staff / conductors with pleasant attitudes. Downtown "free fare zone" where you can enter and exit with no ticket is very small, but it does save you a kinda long walk in the cold going between the Intermodal station (Greyhound / Amtrak / Frontrunner) and the courthouse / library area of downtown.

The touch screen on the kiosk must be from the 1980's because it NEVER works without smacking your finger on it at least 4 or 5 times. I've almost missed train several times because I couldn't get it to work. Please replace the screen. 5/10 have to return again.
