Have several friends that will drive up to American Fork or Lehi when the Orem lot is full. But if you're driving that far to catch the train, what's the point? Love the train on the weekend. The train does have a fair amount of homeless and drug users. Those I know in law enforcement and shelters say SLC police put these folks down to Utah County for assistance.

Luckily it wasn't too hot out, so the car was comfortable as the windows were all open. Staff at the ticket booth and on the train were friendly. The train was packed and the ride itself was no more than an hour and a half total. It was cool to see the trains but I'm not sure that I would do it again. They did have an old time "sheriff" on board who cracked a few jokes. They also had folks playing the fiddle who played some classic songs and took requests on the way back. Primarily though you are on board to enjoy the ride. Their themed rides may be a little more fun depending on what you're into. If you want to kill an hour or two, this will fill your time. They do have restrooms and a small gift shop where you check in before you board.

Salt Lake Central truly is one of the worst central stations in the United States. No shelter, no…read morebathrooms, and not amenities. It is just a concrete jungle with trains. This 'central station' is also still a good half a mile walk from anything downtown SLC. UTA should consider replacing this with the citizen proposed Rio Grande Plan which moves the station back to the historic 115-year-old Rio Grande Depot that isnt but a 1/4 mile from Salt Lake Central.

Between the "Transit" app for departure times and all the different routes, and the "UTA GoRide" app for purchasing tickets/passes, it is really easy to navigate. As far as the train itself, there are usually tons of available seats, but I prefer the sections with tables because they also have outlets for changing my phone or laptop. There is also free wifi on the train, which is convenient. Although it's not as fast as driving usually is, it's pretty quick, especially on snow days or when there's traffic on the I-15. The staff that check tickets from time to time and who help out are really nice as well.

Currently a student at Utah Valley University and we get free these services for free and I was so excited to try out this service. I absolutely love it and has helped me save so much gas, I rarely use my car! The stations don't have any bathrooms so make sure you go before you head out to your next destination. Also, sometimes they tend to leave right at the mark of the time listed on the bus,l and train schedule, they usually don't wait very long. I suggest getting there 5-10 minutes prior to the bus or train leaving. That way you're on time and I'm no rush to run to your next stop. No food is allowed to be eaten on the bus. If you are packing food, be sure to bring a backpack to store food in. It's common curtesy and it'll make everyone's bus or train experience pleasant. Im giving it four stars because sometimes they are late to certain stops (I.e taking bus to catch the front runner and missing it because the bus was caught in traffic or driver was late) I recommend leaving a bus stop earlier, but overall it's not too bad.

The walk from the train to the station was long especially for those who have difficulty walking. There wasn't a cart to pick people up but one to pick up luggage. There seems to be a lack of concern from the conductor on the train who was ready to get going. Our attendant was very helpful with my husband who got very sick on the train. Personally, train travel might not be good for older folks like us. Perhaps those who travel a lot might have a better idea how to navigate railing.

You won't have to fight for parking space. As far as Costco goes, it's in walking distance, but because you usually buy in large quantities your probably won't want to ride the trax. This is the location where you would catch the front runner going either North or South. Area was clean, and wait time was less than 10 minutes. Not knowing the time schedule we didn't have to wait long because on weekends the trax only runs every half hour. This is conference weekend, and hardly anyone was on the train, which made for a nice comfortable ride into town.
