How good is that? The cars are clean, the ride is smooth and the view out the window was fantastic, especially for a person from Long Island. We were in Salt Lake City for five days and I am glad that I did not have to rent a car. I suggest that if you're coming to visit you make your plans in advance and you will only need major transportation to sight-see out of the city. SLC has so much to offer and this rail system is just one more feather in their cap.

This 'central station' is also still a good half a mile walk from anything downtown SLC. UTA should consider replacing this with the citizen proposed Rio Grande Plan which moves the station back to the historic 115-year-old Rio Grande Depot that isnt but a 1/4 mile from Salt Lake Central.

TRAX runs seven days per week, and every 15-minute during peak times. It's electrically powered via a pantograph that connects the train to overhead catenary wires. Trains can range in length from one to four cars depending on time, day & projected ridership. We purchased our fares before boarding at an on-platform ticket vending machine. We tap our ticket on the card reader before boarding & after exiting the train. In 1999, the 1st segment of TRAX opened on Dec. 4, 1999, and connected riders from Salt Lake City to Sandy. Today, TRAX has 3 lines: the Blue Line from Draper to Salt Lake City, the Red Line from South Jordan to the University of Utah and the Green Line from West Valley to the Salt Lake International Airport, for a total 42.5 miles of line and 50 stations. The City Creek Center Station is near our Marriott and in front of the city Creek shopping center. The blue or green line will take us two stops to courthouse where we can walk to the library and Washington Square, Park.
