I'm typically a Delta girl, but after hearing someone talk about their experience at the Provo airport, I opted to fly out of there for an upcoming trip just to give it a try. Pros: * Small airport means its easier to navigate. Fewer gates, drop off right up front, TSA lines are much shorter than larger airports. * Less expensive airlines, friendly on the budget. * Parking lot is close, so you can park and walk inside. Cons: * Fewer options on flights/routes. * Budget travel attracts newbies or families. Can be frustrating for an experienced traveler (kids playing videos at top volume, people who don't understand travel rules/etiquette). * Budget airlines-they might nickel and dime you, so watch for that. I'm glad I gave it a try-and I'll definitely fly out of here again when the math scale is grossly tipped in it's direction. I'll just bring my noise cancelling headphones. read more

I am giving Provo airport the 3 stars only because of Ashley in lost and found. Besides that, right now i think it's a 1, because of the TSA. I went through security and made a mistake because I had my tablet in my bag instead of in a separate bin. WITHOUT me knowing it, they removed it and did not inform me that they did that!! I got on the plane, looked for it, and NO TABLET! My husband called Provo airport immediately and lost and found said there was nothing they could do that day; AND 4 DAYS AFTER because they were gone for Memorial Day weekend. Then on Tuesday, I called again, and still no sign of my tablet. Inga in lost and found didn't do anything for me, even though I was in tears talking to her. I called then the following day...now this is 7 DAYS after my flight; and spoke then with Ashley in lost and found. She went above and beyond to go and find out where it was. She called me immediately and told me she found it. I was SO HAPPY!! Thank you Ashley!! This is ridiculous. Get your act together TSA at PVU. Very pleasant, easy experience getting through security. (For context, this is while larger airports are experiencing hours-long lines because of the federal budget issues). The terminal is clean with plenty of natural light and seating. There is a family lounge with foam-looking seats and cartoons on tv and a business lounge with armchairs, some of which have mini desks built into the arms. The restaurant Guru's has an array of options: salads, sandwiches, wraps, tacos, quesadillas, burritos, pizza, and rice/pasta bowls. I'd definitely use this airport again! read more

I like coming here. This was my second time flying through Provo. There are maybe 10 gates max. Security has only ever been walk up with very limited small short weight time. They have lots of seating once through security and some food options including a convenient store type option. They have a business room and a family room. We flew into the Provo airport, thinking a small airport would not be that nice and were we surprised. This small airport is very nice. Well built lots of windows to see planes. A few little gift shops and one place to order food, which looked pretty good. Plenty of restrooms if you go all the way to gate one nobody was using those restrooms all. Everything inside was very clean and well taken care of. Very easy getting through the TSA line here and very nice TSA agents. The entire experience was good and I would recommend you flying in here if you're going to the Salt Lake area due to how small the facility is and how easily it is to get around. I would only have one suggestion that you don't use a NB car rental because they're the worst no customer service whatsoever and the cars have issues that you would not believe. read more

This amazing smaller airport is clean and efficient with a unique design looking like a CBD (Central Business District) while its only 4 years old, they are expanding to 10 gates and more than doubling the square footage due to demand. When I've read other sites reviews I'm stuck by the number of negative reviews that are simply irrelevant. People will give 1 star because they had to wait in line at an airline counter or people disagreeing with the need for the TSA. none of the complaints had anything to do with the airport and should have been directed to the TSA and the airline. I hate SLC such a waste of money on a terrible design, too much walking, no places to sit. PVU gets you in and out in few steps, nicer people, more comfortable waiting areas. I've got to mention that the fares are so low when compared with Delta in SLC. read more

There's a lot to like about the Provo Airport: * Breeze Airways, for example, has nonstop flights between Orange County and Provo. This beats the pants off flying into or out of Salt Lake City. Flying into or out of Provo means you don't have at least a 40 minute drive each way. You can avoid the nightmare of returning a rental car at the Salt Lake City airport. You can avoid the nightmare that is Terminal B at the Salt Lake City airport. * It's small airport that is easy to navigate. If I recall correctly, there are just six gates. * The TSA security checkpoint moves quickly. * Renting and returning a rental car is super easy, but make a reservation. * Checked bags come out quickly at one of the two baggage carousels. By way of downsides: * There is just one "restaurant" that is more or less a grab and go place. You order and pay at the counter, and they call your name when your food is ready. However, there are plentiful tables and chairs to eat at. * Utah being Utah, no alcohol is offered. This is something to be aware of if that matters to you. Cheers! read more

Absolutely 5 stars. Wonderful airport! I visited Provo Airport a couple of years ago, and I still think about what a great experience it was! The airport itself is modern, clean, and incredibly easy to navigate. I especially loved how stress-free everything felt. There were short security lines, friendly staff, and just an all-around calm atmosphere. One thing I really appreciated was the family nook tucked away from the main area. It was such a peaceful spot, and I ended up having some wonderful conversations with other women there, it felt personal and welcoming, not like your typical airport hustle. The flight prices out of Provo are super reasonable, which makes traveling so much more accessible. I do wish Breeze Airways would bring back their Las Vegas route. It was such a convenient and affordable option, and I really miss it! But even without that, the airport remains a hidden gem in Utah County. This was my first experience with the Provo Airport, I normally fly out of Salt Lake City. I actually really liked this one. It's small like the Long Beach and Santa Ana airports, very friendly TSA agents, very fast getting through, very friendly baggage check. Only two downsides, the bathroom was dirty and was out of paper towels, but the rest of the airport was clean. Also, we had to wait to check in our bags for about 15 minutes or so until someone came to the front. I'd fly out of here again. If you have children there is a cute little Family Lounge that is closed off. It allows children to run off some energy and gives parents a place to let their kids make noise without upsetting other passengers. Great idea, Provo Airport! read more

Very small airport with a beautiful view of the mountains no matter where you look. Airlines such Allegient fly here. Parking lot is fairly small, but accommodating and near the entrance so not a far walk. Some vending machines, but not much else. Standing room mostly once inside for the most part. There is some seating, but could use more. Drop off and pick up is easy in and out for picking up friends and family. read more

It depends when you're flying into and out of this place! The mosquitoes here are bad! They will stick to your car. Be prepared. I'm surprised they haven't done anything about it yet. Our pilot even gave us a heads up about the mosquitoes before we took off back to Utah. Provo Airport in my honest opinion is a really nice and efficient community airport, my fiancé and I needed to attend an urgent matter in Lehi, so instead of going to Salt Lake, Provo was a much better alternative. Not a lot of planes fly here, we flew Allegiant (nice airline but you have to pay for everything - I won't be surprised if they start charging customers for using the plane lavatory) ANYWAY the airport has a nice easy layout, car rentals are within the premise so it makes everything quite efficient for a quick in and out. The check-in and screening process coming back to OC was pretty expedient HOWEVER flying Allegiant - make sure you check-in online or well ahead of time (as my future sis-in-law will also tell you, they will charge you for late check-in even if you do not have a check-in luggage lol what if there's a drop in cabin pressure??? You can use the Oxygen mask for $5.00 or hold your breath to your next destination LOL I won't be surprised... geessh) anyway back to Provo airport (I keep getting side tracked as the Allegiant experience was just too hilarious) Provo airport is an Awesome little airport, nice, efficient and clean and as always one of the many things I like about Utah, I love the kind and friendly staff here. read more

It's a tiny municipal airport that's trying to host large commercial flights without the amenities to support a large commercial flight. Definitely time to expand and update! Only one gate. TSA only opens 2 hours prior to flights, but no reason to be there any earlier anyways. Only one TSA lane though, so don't wait until the last minute either. Not enough seating if the flight is full unless you sit shoulder to shoulder with other people. No outlets anywhere in the waiting area past TSA, so don't plan to charge your devices. 2 Vending machines only, no other food/drinks. Nothing nearby, middle of nowhere. Beware vending machines are all cash only, even though Allegiant is a cashless airline! Once you dump your water for TSA you're out of luck unless you have small bills. Get some up to date vending machines that take credit or contactless payment and some outlets please! read more

I flew back to the Provo airport on Christmas Eve from Arizona to find my car blocked in between two cars. You can only imagine the frustration in wanting to get home for the holiday. I went inside the airport and asked the officer on duty for help. I was so impressed by the officer on duty as well as the manager on duty outside. I believe his name was Trevor. As frustrating as this could have been they were so kind and friendly by accommodating me in getting out of my situation. The two of them definitely get a five star rating in customer service. Visiting my friends that live in Orem we flew from Palm Springs to Provo. On our last visit, we flew into Salt Lake, and I must say this was super easy travel. Traveling can always be a stressful situation so anything to make things easier always helps. The airport is super small, you get off the plane and walk off the runway to see your friends smiling waiting to pick you up. It really is super easy. When flying out of here it is pretty much the same, you get dropped off right at the front and breeze through security. Don't expect a terminal with a restaurant or bar to kill time. All you get here is a vending machine, but hey for the time you save not dealing with big airports to me it was worth it. When I come back to visit my friends in Utah and I have the option to fly into Provo I will definitely do just that. Nice to be only 15 minutes from where my friends live. As I said, traveling can be stressful and PMA makes it easy. CHEERS!!!! read more

I have traveled quite a bit in my lifetime. I'd like to think I have a pretty decent idea of different airports and some good features that come with them. The first airport in Provo was located adjacent to the golf course on S University Avenue. In 1938, the airport was condemned 8 years after it opened due to a fatal accident. After that, a new airport was constructed on the east side of Utah Lake. A year later, in 1939, Merrill and Lucile Christopherson transformed a beet field into an airfield which is still presently where the Provo airport is located. The Christopherson family initiated this project because there was a need for pilots during WWII; they also all lived in an apartment above the airport office. The first airline to have services at the Provo airport was Monarch Airlines back in 1946 but Provo airport has also worked with SkyWest Airlines, Frontier Airlines and Allegiant. While runway 13/31 started off at only 5,800' in length, it has been extended and is currently at 8,600'. It wasn't until 2005, that an air control tower was opened at the Provo airport; the original model is still standing at 114' tall. The Provo Airport has a lot of history to it, dating back to when aircrafts were a brand new thing in our world. At one point, there were nine women enrolled in Provo Civil Air Patrol. While Salt Lake City International continues to be the largest airport in the Beehive State, I think Provo Airport is making tremendous strides as an airport, including their recent contract with Allegiant. Salt Lake City remains the only Bravo airspace in the state but Ogden-Hinckley and Provo are the next best within the area. Utah is funny when it comes to airports. We have an airport that requires walking sticks, a camelback water backpack, Dr. Scholl's insoles and months of training before hand. Then one of our other main airports is so small, you could play put-put in there and the ball would still make it all the way across the building. The Provo Municipal Airport is my second reference. They recently opened up a new terminal within the property. I think it is a really awesome addition, but it does seem super tiny. In one way, I do like that we didn't spend money on random art and things people don't care about but in another way, I think a few added touches would be nice. Unless the grand opening is more crowded than any flights during Christmas, I could easily see some issues with crowds and traffic. The parking was free when I visited, but again, the parking lot is not that big either. I do think the layout is nice. It is very easy to understand and there isn't really a need for signs anyways because of how small it is--you can literally see where you need to go haha. There is a whopping 6 seats in baggage claim. I do worry that with the booming housing market, especially in Utah County, that this airport was made to be way too small for what the population is about to be. I do like the terminal and I like the simplicity, but I also love when airports have all kinds of cool amenities and really show visitors what Utah is about. I am excited to see Provo Airport continue to grow and improve for the better, as it has been doing for nearly a century. read more
