Our stove cooktop shorted out and the breaker could not be reset. We called Orient and asked an electrician to come check it out. They came reasonably promptly, reset the breaker, it broke again, came in and looked at the cooktop (did not remove it from its cutout or check out the direct wiring to the cooktop) and said that yes, there is a problem and that we should call an appliance repair or purchase a new cooktop. They (2 persons) were here for no more than 15 minutes, gave us a bill for $250, and left. (They said they were coming from Rhododendron, which is our post office address.) It was not cheap, but they were helpful and responsive. Why does Yelp and Angie make finding an electrician more difficult than a restaurant? I did not find these guys through Yelp because they insist on setting up contact rather than seeing all options in your area. read more

I had a solar install done. When PGE came to do net meter inspection it was found that the meter base and meter was broken and bent. It was an emergency PGE came and dug a new box in the ground and I was on the phone to get an electrician to get a new meter box and base. I called several companies. The parts and type of meter base I needed was not available nationwide. They sent Spencer Bradford out and he got a different type of meter base and had installed the next day. He and his crew did a wonderful job and were very clean about it. It was done right and I now have power. Solaris going to have to be redone and retested. I'm back in business read more

Hired these guys to add some circuits in my house for a bathtub jacuzzi, bathroom outlets and a outdoor 220v disconnect for mini split ac unit I was installing. From the office people to the estimator to the electricians doing the work, everything was done accurately and on time. When I went in to payoff my bill I ran into my estimator and he asked when I was going to hook up the ac unit. I told him that I'd have it installed in the next 2 days. Thinking that I needed to wire up from the disconnect to the ac unit, I asked him a couple questions about wire gauge and so on. He replied in a surprised way, that his estimate included the final hook up of the ac. So I scheduled a wiring work visit for 2 days out and they took care of it for me. I'm very happy with the work provided and for a price that was very good. read more

I wouldn't use these people again. They installed an outside light on my back patio, which never worked quite right--the sensor was erratic and I couldn't get it to stay on by flipping the switch for a one-second interval as the manufacturer's instructions indicated. Unfortunately, I put up with these inconveniences until the light stopped working entirely. This was over the holidays, and it took me a couple of weeks to get to a store to get a replacement bulb, which wasn't the problem--the light still didn't work. In the meantime, it had been a couple weeks beyond the one year that they guarantee their work, so to get them to make good I was told I would have had to pay them to come out to fix it. The light itself was provided by Orient Electric, and the paperwork says it has a two-year warranty, but apparently that's only a manufacturer's warranty, not theirs. Needless to say, I'll be getting a different electrician to fix the problem. read more

The person I talked to was extremely rude, only putting down "troubleshooting" when I already know what the issue is and need someone to come out who believes they can fix that particular issue rather than finding the ussue, then telling me they can't fix it and charging e 150$ for that. Poor customer service, called with an emergency situation, at the time we thought we had an electric problem because the breaker running our sewer pump would not work. They are very busy and were two weeks out (without a sewer pump we cant run Water or flush toilets) they made no atempt to send someone out on overtime for additional charges, were pretty cold and uncaring, did not recomend any other businesses to try, and basically said we can be there in two weeks or and maybe come if there is a cancellation. So I can not attest to the work they do but their customer service is sub par. Even if a company is too busy to help someone in an emergency there are better ways of representing your company than a cold hearted....sorry oh well we can be there when it's too late will that work for you? read more

Orient's work is good. They are thorough and timely. However, they are also extremely expensive. Their invoice reads like a hospital bill. There were four people assigned for this job (two of whom were apprentices). I ended up with $900 in labor charges alone. A job I thought would take one guy and would run $400 to $500 came in at $2300. I don't need this kind of treatment. I'll be calling elsewhere for repair work on my rental properties. read more

Orient Electric in Gresham, OR, installed a motion sensor light on my back patio. It never worked properly, turning on and off randomly regardless of motion, and after a year it stopped working entirely. Nothing wrong with the bulb or breaker, the light just stopped functioning. i was told when I called that they would charge to come out and look at it, and I would be charged for any work done because they only guarantee their work for one year (this was about one year+2 weeks after the light was installed). If you're OK with paying for electrical work, and then paying again to have it repaired or replaced in 54 weeks, these are your guys. read more
