I needed an outside breaker replaced. The first guy they sent out was friendly, informative, and worked quickly. Unfortunately it was an older model and needed a part ordered so he said that he would need to come back another day. Then they sent matt. Matt turned off the power and removed the switch/breaker and then discovered that he didn't have all the parts that he needed. So he said that he needed to go to his shop to get a part and would be back in 20 minutes. Understandable (even though he should have checked that before he came, but whatever). However, Matt was gone for two hours WITH THE POWER OFF AND NO BREAKER IN THE BOX. I called the shop after an hour and asked where he was and what was taking so long and the receptionist said that it was a specialty part and he was probably having trouble locating it but that she would call him to check. I never received a call back or any explanation until he was on his way back from the shop. When he did call, I asked him what took so long and he said that it was a few lugnuts and he thought that they had it stocked and they didnt. When he did get back I said to him that I was sorry if I was snippy with him but that in the future he needs to call and let people know what is going on. His response was "I didnt think you would care". I have no idea at this point if he was even actually looking for the part during that time period. These guys are the best!!! We had to close on our home in two weeks and from the very first call to the office the girls were friendly and professional and helpful in letting me know how they could help me. The electrician that came out was friendly and knew his stuff. He called ahead to let me know he was on his way and was on time. He did the work and let me know everything he was doing. The bill was explained in detail on his work and very reasonably price. The work was completed in time to close on the house. Getting the bid was not the problem. I had trouble communicating with the bidder, he was out in the field all the time, they seemed overwelmed every time I called. So I resorted to texting and emailing with a little better result. Finally I scheduled the work to be done, they were a month out. I arrange for different family members to be here, as I work a 13hr days. I tried several times to talk to a person but the office gal was the only one I could get ahold of. I arranged to have GeoPotential locate anything in the ground. I talked to the office gal the day before the work was to be done and she sounded like everything was in order. She collected my payment the day before the work was to be started. I received a phone call from the owner at 1:30pm, the day prior to the job. He seemed very busy and it was apparent he didn't want to do this job, for some reason, being argumentative. He seem reluctant to have me dig the trenches even though I operate heavy duty equipment for a living. I payed a private locator company to locate anything in the area that I was trenching. I expressed several times that I would love to have some painted lines to go by. I even hired their labor for 3hrs at $25hr to help direct me on how to make the trenches electrical friendly. He seemed angry and told me that his labor was not trenching for me, I told him again that I was doing the trenching. He expressed to me that these trenches had to be so deep and wide, I told him I was aware of that. I again told him that I am a 701 operator and have operated equipment for over 20yrs. He told me the work was not possible to do the scheduled day, he would be out the scheduled day to paint lines for me. The followning morning after our conversation, I called my credit card company and they already had ran my credit card, He never showed up. The following day I received a dear John letter stating that he was withdrawing the proposal and terminating the project. This was a weird and unfortunate circumstance as they came highly recommended. Its been a while since I have been treated so disrespectfully. I work with a great group of men at work that treat me fairly and respect me as an equally, I guess this really opens ones eyes. read more

Let me just say these guys are great! I woke up with no heat! My furnace had no power!! I gave Orient a call and to my surprise and delight someone was there and was very nice and helpful, she told me to try a few things but nothing worked. She told me she'd call one of the electricians and call me right back. About 15 minutes later I got a call that an electrician was on his way! He was able to find the problem and fix it! I didn't have to go all weekend without heat! The cost was very fair too, I called a few other places beforehand and Orient had the lowest price I found. Thank you so much for all of your help! My husband noticed that the light switch was hot to the touch. I had contacted several electrical companies. Orient Electric told me they were busy but if someone on the field is done early, that they would call us. They didn't call me that day but contacted me shortly thereafter. Tom and Spencer came to our home and found our issue. They resolved it quickly so I also asked to add two GFI switches in the bathroom. They were able to add those as well. Great job. I have had Orient Electric out for electrical work at my business several times. They are always on time, courteous and cleanup after themselves. We have an older building with numerous breaker boxes in different location. They tracked down the correct ones, labeled them and made sure I knew which ones go where. After calling around over ten electrical companies to try and get a small electric job done quickly as part of a real estate sale, Orient Electric was the only one that said they could get it done in less than 2 weeks. I told the receptionist my situation and she said she would see if she could make it happen sooner. She called me back later that day and said she could squeeze me in the next day. I had a sun room addition done on my house. I needed a conduit moved to do the installation, followed up by adding a couple of electrical outlets to the inside of the new room, and an exterior door light put up. I used the recommendation of the sun room people (Champions), which was Orient Electric. The first part, moving the conduit, went smoothly and easily. The price of right around 375.00 seemed fair. The problem came with the second part of the job. DO NOT, under any circumstances, allow this company to do any work for you without a fully written out estimate which includes a NOT TO EXCEED clause built into it. I stupidly did not get an estimate for the second job because I believed it to be a simple one-day job given that A) there was a junction box right outside the new room to tap into, B) I only needed a couple of outlets and already had the light to put up, and C) none of it needed to be interior to the walls, but instead I was okay with it using exterior conduits on the inside of the room. WRONG! The guy that came out spent 45 minutes "thinking" about the best way to do the job to meet code standards. Eventually he got to work and I got to work on other projects around the house. He took a lunch break (totally understandable). Then, before 4 p.m. he came and found me, told me he was done for the day, and he would be back next week to "finish up". This should have been a ONE day job! When I went downstairs to check, the conduits were in place, holes were drilled for the exterior lights (he said I needed all 3 doors covered to "meet code") and no less than 4 outlets were prepped. Including one that is right next to the dog door which makes me wonder what I could possibly plug in there that the dog coming through the door wouldn't keep unplugging? So then he comes back, as promised, the following week, WITH an apprentice in tow. Okay fine, except that he never bothered to tell me that *I* would be paying the apprentice's 68$/hour salary! And it took the two of them 4 1/2 hours together to finish laying the electrics and get everything hooked up. Total cost to me for this simple job?? Over 2100.00!!! I have had two different electricians since then render their opinion on how long/how much this job should've cost me, and both came in at one day and around 1200. Did the room pass the bare cursory glance the inspector gave the room? Sure. Do the plugs and lights work? Sure. And it does look fairly neat. Was it worth the money I spent and the fact that it took two days to finish? Not at all. (Oh, and I finally had to call them to settle accounts because I never got a final bill or invoice from them after the job was done. I insisted on one after I paid the shockingly high sum.) Will I EVER use this company again? Not a chance. Did the whole thing irk me enough to write this review? You bet. I'm in a state of shock right now over how Orient is doing business and their complete and total lack of professionalism and just plain rudeness. I highly, highly recommend if you're reading this to stay away from Orient. I asked for a quote on a couple of different projects and the quote came back missing several items. On top of that it took him 2 weeks to get me the quote and that was after several calls from both me and my husband. I should have known better because they jerked me around and kept rescheduling the estimate appt. Also, the sellers of the home we just purchased had Orient remove an outside electrical box and they also removed a breaker from the panel when it was supposed to be repaired per signed agreement and I've been asking them for over a month for details so that we can go back and talk to the sellers. This is not Orients fault as they were following instructions and I told them that clearly but they refuse to give me any information. Where is the empathy? Where is the good neighbor attitude and compassion? How would you feel if you just purchased your new home and this happened to you? Please, don't use these guys not only because they're going to jerk you around but also because they have zero compassion and can't be bothered to help someone in need. read more

I can related to Jennifer N. story as the same thing happened with us. We got the hourly rate but 2 guys showed up. We got the same story too about 2 guys working faster. BS. They never told us that 2 people will show up when they gave us a quote.They did not go faster. It took way long than it should have. Lesson learned to not only get a quote on hourly charge but to get a quote on how long it will take. Our job should have been a days work with one person, instead we got charged 2 days with 2 people.
