MaPo Tofu

Im give a 4 stars only because it's really not a " restaurant " more like a delicious take out. The food is consistently good. Hot and Sour soup is truly " hot" and spicy and delicious. Singapore Rice Curry Noodles is tasty and also deli, food always made to order and served pipping hot. MaPa Tofu, if you like Toffu you will love this dish. Portions are BIG, prices are very reasonable. As Chinese food is concerned I think it's the place to go. We are never disappointed with their food.

Eddie has provided top notch Chinese food at this location for almost 30 years. His menu is extensive and the specials occasionally change. Prices are fair and the servings are large. The food is great. Spicy when it should be and savory when it shouldn't. His Mapo Tofu is the best around. My kids grew up on his chicken and broccoli. Now my grandchildren have that pleasure. Plus if you're a long time customer you had the fun of watching his kids grow up!

Pad thai, which had a horrible fishy odor to it. Inside shrimp were oddly colored and filled with uncleaned poop!

What in the world happened to this place??? Please look at my photos to prove my experience. Oriental Kitchen used to be such a treat for my family when I went to school at John Jay across the street. I came in this evening hoping to have a delicious throw back meal. First off, our order was wrong and we didn't notice until it was home. Crab Rangoons were filled with spinach, veggi lo mein had chicken in it and shrimp pad thai also contained chicken which was not ordered. Won Ton soup was cold after a short 10 minute drive and needed to be heated up. General tso's chicken was mushy, and had an extremely oddly flavored. Worst part was the pad thai though, which had a horrible fish odor to it. Due to the smell we refused to eat it, but did dig through it in order to identify the foul odor. Inside we found uncleaned shrimp filled with poop, along with grey chicken and what appeared to be egg. Overall this was a complete failure, even the egg rolls were bland. I drove out of the way to get Oriental kitchen when chang Ying is walking distance to my house. This spot went soo down hill it's sad. Food tonight was terrible and I doubt I will be back. This is actually upsetting to me because I remember how good it used to be, such a shame.

It does not get any better than this...I feel as if this is the most authentic oriental food in the Hudson valley and the owner is the man !

We have been to our share of Chinese takeout places in the area and Tokoharu is by far the best…read more Yes, I know it is more then a Chinese takeout since they have Japanese fare and sushi on the menu. We have been there 4 or 5 times in the last 2 months and the food is always amazing. It tastes fresh and the portions are large! We have yet to have a bad meal there. I think what I like best about this place is that they genuinely appreciate your business. I live not a quarter mile from a place called happy wok and their food is ok, definitely convenient to me. Yet you go there and the owner really doesn't seem to care at all. She never smiles and has all she can do to say thank you when you leave. And if they forget something when you call and tell them she basically accuses you of lying. So, I will take the 15 minute drive to Tokoharu from now on.

I have been going to Tokoharu for years but yesterday will be my last. I walked in. No one there…read moreto greet or take an order. The chef is behind the counter and doesn't even look up or acknowledge that I am there. Finally, I ask him if someone can help me. I place my order, over $50, and get home to find My spicey salmon HAND roll is now a 6 piece roll. The worst part and I wish I took a picture of it was the sushi. The salmon looked like it had been shaved off (think of lox on a bagel) and I could see thru it. It was all rice, which fell apart as soon as I tried to dip it in soy sauce (Oh that had a nasty smell to it) I think the salad was the only edible part and that was basically lettuce so how can you mess that up. It is sad to see that the place has gone way down hill.
