If you order what is Cantonese in style, you will get just that. If you order Taiwanese or the Japanese offerings, you'll get a Cantonese abstraction of that food. Either way, if you're missing authentic Cantonese Chinese food, this is the place to go. If you come with a large party, they give you a package of complimentary Almond Cookies. I used to come here over 15 years while I worked at IBM. I came here at least once a week and enjoyed everything they offered. Still my favorite were seafood noodle soup, Kung Pao double ding, tai Chen chicken. Made to order Chinese fried rice, egg plant with garlic source... After I moved down to Yorktown, I still do occasional take outs. Now I am in San Diego with so many Chinese restaurants, I miss Eddie's Oriental Kitchen. Not just me, my kid and wife as well. I ordered sesame chicken. It was AMAZING! Nice tender,flavorful, plump pieces of chicken.I thought this is IT! Next time I went back it was chewy and stringy little pieces. I thought they had a bad night. I went back 2 more times for the same meal. In total 4 times. The first was about the best I have ever had. Pretty rare for decently authentic chinese food outside of the city. This place hits the mark well, and will not disappoint on flavor nor value (portions are pretty good). My go-to dish there is the Hong Kong Kong style curry beef. Just the right amount of spiciness, and absolutely delicious. Small hole-in-the-wall type place, so if you come with a large group, prepare to move a few tables around, but lift instead of pull or you'll experience that banshee-like scraping of the metallic table/chair feet. Again the owner is a very nice guy. A Buddhist chef that can cook vegan or regularly very well. This food is more of an Asian fusion. They have a wide array of a selection. Its more than your average Chinese food place. The quality oi far superior to your average Friday night chinese place. It's light when it should be and sinful when it should be. It's my favorite local "asian fusion" place around that area and prob in Dutchess County. You can get your normal chicken and broccoli or a Thai inspired dish to a totally new and intriguing dish that will leave you wanting to try it based on description. Overall a 8.6/10. Undoubtedly the best Chinese food in the area. They have 2 menus , one just your basic Chinese food menu, the other for the more sophisticated foodies like myself. The gentleman behind the counter must have read my mind as he handed me the other menu when I walked in. I ordered the wasabi Dim Sum for starters, and finished off with a Roast Duck stir fry over Angel Hair with egg and scallions...the best dish ever need I say. A little bit of a trip, especially since there are 2 Chinese joints closer, but I will go miles to find delicious food from a clean place. I have been going to Oriental Kitchen for over 10 years ordering the same thing - Chicken and Zuchinni/Brocolli in garlic sauce. Over the passed year I noticed a difference in the chicken. About a third of the chicken in the dish is very tough and is absolutely inedible, not quite how chicken should taste.... It's disappointing because I really enjoyed it in the passed, but now I will not order that dish again. I did give it a few chances, and had the same experience each time. read more

I've ordered quite a few dishes here and have never been disappointed. The Mongolian Beef w/Black Mushroom, Snow Peas, Vegetable & Chinese Vermecceli is very good. Also, the crispy chicken w/red ginger sauce is quite tasty. Their vegetable LoMein is always excellent and their beef dumpling appetizer never disappoints. This place is very efficient, fair priced and awfully convenient on Route 52 (just a few steps from my office). I would recommend it for a lunch stop or take out - not a place of ambiance for dinner, but if you want real casual, it would certainly due. I find the service here to be very good. Owner is friendly. Definitely much better than some other Chinese food restaurants I've eaten at in Dutchess County. Only reason I didn't give five stars is basically because the inside could certainly use some sprucing up - it's very basic and not much there in terms of decor. I've been going to see Eddie for over 20 years and there is a reason why. He makes great food. I have converted many people over to oriental kitchen and most love it because of the expansive menu he has and the quality of the food. If this is your first Time ordering from there then I suggest you go in and not call to order. There is literally a wall of over 30 dishes which aren't on the menu and he also has a little picture book with new dishes not on the menu. I try to order something new every time I go. I usually eat here once a week. The food is excellent,but recently I've seen new staff who are extremely rude. My last experience there is the last time I will support this establishment. I called in the order, and requested dumpling sauce instead of of the sweet sauce which usually accompanies Wontons. I left with my $60 order in hand but after checking the bag I noticed the sauce requested was not there. I proceeded back into the restaurant and inform them of this. Upon informing them, the lady at the desk began shouting at me and waving her hand at me "You don't order dumplings you don't get dumpling sauce. I informed her I wanted the sauce instead of, not in addition to the sauce I was suppose to get. She started screaming at me the same thing she stated before. I told her to calm down and listen to what I'm trying to tell you. She finally stormed off and said "I didn't put the order together" while pacing and shouting. She then began shouting in the kitchen to find out who did prepare the order. The person answering said I put it in the bag, bring it back I'll show you. I said all I want is that small container of dumpling sauce for my wontons, it's not in the bag. I got frustrated and said forget it and walked out.The girl who had been shouting at me, came shortly afterward and shoved the container in my car window. I replied I will never ever come here again. Every week I spend $50 or more at your restaurant and today you treated me like I was trying to steal something from you. I will never come here again. All this for one small container of sauce, probably cost less than a dime. When does the customer come first. The owner needs to be aware of the attitudes of his employees, because they are a representative of your establishment. They can make you or break you. read more
