Came by here to order dinner on my way back home. Have say they pretty good, making sure to check if someone wants to order and if you need sauces or anything. The sizzling scallops and beef, was decent, beef was delicious, tender and moist. Scallops were alright, I mean could better with more of them or larger pieces, but alright they very flavorful from the sauce. We've been ordering from first Wok for over 10 years. The majority of the time the food was fine, sometimes really good and not great once in awhile. But our experience tonight was inexcusable.We had the meal delivered as usual. The 2 appetizers were fine, very greasy but still okay. The 2 other dishes were incredibly bad and not edible. Chow Fun Noodles with Beef was in a sauce (not typical to say the least). We're willing to try it but there were some ingredients in this dish that were rancid. Just a foul taste. The Green Beans Szechuan style were lightly cooked green beans covered a very sweet, not spicy, VERY rancid tasting sauce. I asked to make sure to include rice please. They included a large white rice charged for it at a VERY HIGH PRICE. More than for one of the dishes!! I didn't ask for it I just wanted to make sure there was a small white rice for the green beans. The slap in the face when, for the first time in over 10 years I called to tell them about the food. OMG! They were SO RUDE and dismissive. They said they can't do anything unless I brought the food back to them tonight!!!! "How do we know you didn't eat it?""was what she said. Unbelievable. I said of course we tasted it and found out it was rancid.After being a customer for so long we are so angry and disappointed. Do yourself a favor not order from this restaurant. Not only are they serving horrible rancid food they are accusing us of eating the food because I didn't feel like getting in the car and returning it. Not to diminish other people's experiences but I actually really like this place. We have done take out from here a few times this year and have a great experience every time. Favorite dishes include their hot & sour soup, great egg rolls, and really like their General Tso's and Sweet & Sour Chicken. The chicken is very fresh and isn't too greasy. Crispy texture that pairs well with their sauces. Service is always prompt and our orders are always correct. It's a go-to for us in the Hudson Valley. read more

I had a hankering for Chinese food in the early days of my daughter's life (that was probably fueled by the fact that I had no energy to actually cook something in my kitchen). Our roommates recommended this place and had sung its praises, so we were looking forward to an awesome Chinese food experience. Unfortunately, our experience did not match what they had experienced. I had chicken chow mein and cold sesame noodles as an appetizer. Both were incredibly weak and flavorless. If you can believe it, the sesame noodles really didn't have a peanutty flavor to them - I had wished I got lo mein instead because maybe more ingredients = more flavor? I don't know, but I'm not going to find out. I'd rather go to Cheung Young or Jade Palace next time. read more

Oh, how I miss First Wok! I'm from Wappingers originally. When I was 17, a guy I was dating @ the time (he was from New Windsor) introduced me to FIRST WOK, I have been a fan ever since. I lived near by for a few years (literally within walking distance) & then moved to NYC & eventually out to San Francisco (as many Asians & Asian restaurants here as in Asia itself ;P). I've had WAY better cuisines from other countries in NYC & here in SF then served in Wappingers & surrounding areas, but this is BY FAR THE BEST TAKE OUT CHINESE I'VE EVER HAD...and I've eaten across the country...not to mention since being a customer, I've gained a culinary degree & have become a classically trained chef. YET, I still have not found better else where. My parents still live in Wappingers. My mom has said it has been changed over since I last visited, and is not as good as I remember...I hope she is wrong. Just moved into the apartments behind the Hannaford and NEEDED to find a solid Chinese take out place. I usually go with Singapore mei fun whenever trying out a new Chinese takeout place, and this place did an excellent job! I ordered and paid through this app called beyond menu and the food was ready when I arrived at the restaurant, so that was really convenient. The food was super good and fresh, and it had a lot of shrimp in it which is always nice. The portion size was more than enough for one meal but not quite enough for two meals. Genetic Chinese take out. My family gets deliveries and pick ups whenever no one wants to cook. The owner is very nice. They will cook whatever you want even if it's not on the menu. When "sufficient to avert famine" is the first thing that comes to mind about this almost painfully generic little 3 table walk-in elbowed into a mini-strip mall on Route 9, I have to consider moving on. Have I had worse? Yes, though I cannot remember when. When the only thing nice I can say about the chicken rice soup is that "Yes, I DO believe there was some bits of chicken in it...", that I have to use a Jaws of Life to separate chunks of the STILL HOT sesame chicken and I have to pause for a moment to ponder if I actually ordered rubber bands with shrimp as opposed to Shrimp Mei Fun, I suddenly felt environmentally irresponsible for taking TWO take out menus for later. I'm new to the area and have been trying all of the Chinese restaurants. This is by far the best. I would really recommend their chicken chow fun or general tso's. The crab Rangoon is great, but if you want a better deal, go to Tung Ying. They give you 8 rangoons for four dollars. read more
