After moving to this side of town, I was excited to find a "neighborhood" hole in the wall Chinese restaurant. I've ordered carry out from them twice and both times the rice was just absurdly weird/questionable. The entree was decent and you can get marginally better egg rolls from Jack in the Box or the frozen food aisle. But the rice? How do you mess up rice? Someone suggested that their equipment may not be clean, and I know the water is weird here, but if rice is a staple for your restaurant, you have to figure that out. read more

Great takeout experience! Everything tasted fresh and was still nice and hot when we got home. The food was very neatly and carefully packaged -- the soup containers were sturdy and sat on a piece of cardboard so they remained level when you picked up the bag by the handles (very smart!). The hot and sour soup, while not as spicy as some versions I have had, was delicious and fresh-tasting (especially the mushrooms). We tried the sesame chicken and orange beef -- Americanized Chinese food classics -- and they did not disappoint. The Chinese donuts were tasty and not too sweet. I feel like a lot of times you end up compromising when it comes to a Chinese restaurant -- maybe you love the soup but their egg rolls are average, or maybe their pepper beef is good but their lo mein is meh -- but based on this experience I am very optimistic we've found a Chinese place that is solid across the board. We decided to try this new restaurant in our neighborhood and we're not disappointed. I had the Beef Curry. Not too hot and the beef is super tender. The fried rice is great. We ate at 7.30 on a Sunday night and everything tasted very fresh. Great value as well. Service was great. read more

Got takeout from here. Orange chicken and Chicken in garlic sauce. Both were very good. Other generic Chinese restaurants in the area seem to use low quality ingredients where the chicken is half breading and gristle. Oriental Restaurant charges the same as those places but their chicken seemed like it was processed and breaded in house which made the whole thing taste fresher than I'm used to getting from neighborhood Chinese joints. I own a small auto repair shop right up the road from this restaurant - it is often hard for me to break away to eat, so I was glad to hear that it had opened so closeby. I ordered take out on two occasions and was very happy; large portions, great flavor, and everything fried, like egg rolls were not greasy at all. Awesome. I stopped in and ate at the restaurant this week and was even more impressed. As others here have mentioned, the very polite woman owner checked on all of us to make sure we are happy. I had shrimp lo mein this time and it was just what I was looking for; big, deveined shrimp and great sauce. Wonton soup was excellent also. Clean and bright location. Horrible customer service! We just moved to the area and heard good things about this places food so decided to place an online order. After I entered my credit card number and sent order I thought was odd I hadn't gotten a order confirmation email or anything so looked at my online bank charges and sure enough there was a pending charge for the full order amount so I called to verify if they got the order. The first time I called I was hung up on before even could say hello so I called back and was asked to hold which was fine. The man then got back on phone and I proceeded to tell him I hadn't gotten an order confirmation so wanted to make sure order went through. He said "well if you didn't get a confirmation we didn't get it" I then told him well there was a charge to my credit card for the full order amount so what should I do or could they figure out what happened? (I have screen shots of the charge to my card) He very rudely said, "well if you don't have order confirmation I can't help you." Really?? I just told you a charge went through for YOUR restaurant to my credit card and was basically treated like "not their problem." I now have to call my bank to dispute the charge to my card. (And I'm still hungry with no food!) Great way to make a negative first impression on your business to a new person in the community!! We obviously will NEVER be giving this place our business or money after this ordeal! read more

I don't know why I waited so long to review this amazing Chinese restaurant. My husband and I go here about once a week for dinner and have been going here for a few months. We moved here from Houston last year and were hugely disappointed by the lack of good Chinese cuisine in the Austin area. This place is less than 10 mins from our house and it's probably the best Chinese food I've ever had. They are consistent and have never disappointed us. General Tso's chicken is to die for! We get it every time. Not overly sweet and sticky like most places, it actually has a tiny kick and very light crisp breading. Huge chicken chunks! Perfection! Crab puffs are sweet and perfectly fried. Pork lo mein is abundant and has tons of delicious pork. We have found our Chinese restaurant, finally, and could not be happier with the food and the wonderful customer service! read more

ORIENTAL KITCHEN! OMG yaaaasssss! They have mastered 5 essential steps to an amazing experience!! Eveyone on earth has tried this type of cuisine. I'm sure you have wondered; what sets them apart from the others? Quality, care, FRESHNESS, portion size and customer service. My order on-line didn't go through. I called, they were busy Meili Wu​​ called me back to make sure everything was ok. I ordered the crab puffs, orange chicken, chicken lo mein and a vegetable egg roll. I was starving because I hadn't eaten a bite all day and asked the friendly cashier if I could have steal some candy in the jar on the desk. Of course Meili caught & teased me but I told her I'd been starving myself all day for her delicious food! Even though I didn't get a chance to eat until several hours later everything was still delicious AND I didn't get any sauces on the side. The chicken piece were huge, no fatty pieces or gristle. The quality, freshness & portions of everything I ordered was generous; frankly I felt you could feed 4 people. AND they didn't skimp because it was close to closing time. Meh...Decent Americanized Chinese food, but not outstanding. I had the lunch size General Tso's, and it was huge. Too much for lunch, but not really enough to split into a to-go box. The sauce was quite tasty, but there were absolutely no vegetables in it (most places include some broccoli or carrots). Won't be my go to spot, but I wouldn't object if someone insisted on going there. BTW, parking may be an issue. A small lot, with 2 or 3 other restaurants in the same strip. read more
