I was so pleasantly surprised at this little spot. People always say Ahwatukee doesn't have the best food, but it satisfies. Well I think I've found my favorite ramen spot in all of Phoenix. Small and quaint; anime stickers on the wall, origami cranes hanging from the chandelier. Nothing I would really expect, but I somehow loved it and felt so comfortable sitting inside here. You order on your phone at the table. You scan the QR code, order, and the food pops out pretty quickly. If you're not tech savvy or having trouble the waiter will help you, no problem! The waiter still comes by gets your drinks and makes sure you're not having trouble with the site regardless. The food was really good! I had the miso ramen and spicy tuna hand roll with soy paper. The hand roll was fresh. I loved that they didn't skimp on the spicy tuna. Mountains of tuna, the best part was even the very last bite at the tip, there was still tuna. I hate when I get to the end it's only rice. The last bite was as good as the first. The miso ramen was rich with flavor. The noodles were the best part, soft but chewy. I will admit, there were A LOT of cabbage veggies at the bottom of my bowl (kind of like filler) I might say there was more veggie than noodle. But I won't say I hated that ratio. They saved my daughter's birthday! We had special plans for my daughter's 13th birthday but when we arrived at the first restaurant the item she'd looked forward to trying (rattlesnake) was not available. We tried to salvage the night at other restaurants--one was closed, others didn't pan out. At last we decided on ramen. At this point my daughter was in tears because her birthday meal plans had been a disaster. We arrived and the placed was packed. I explained the situation and the gentleman made room for us at the bar, and later moved us to a table. We ordered and our ramen was delicious! The noodles had a great texture and the broth was rich and savory. The gentleman serving us even brought my daughter a special treat in honor of her birthday. My daughter was smiling and happy when we left. I moved from Tempe away from my local ramen shop, and decided to try this place. How good could the ramen actually be in Ahwatukee? Well, this is the best ramen I have had in the valley, and by a long shot (Sorry, former ramen shop. We can still be friends). One of the things I love is all the major components have unique flavor profiles before they are even added to an amazing unctuous broth. The pork has a slight sweetness, the mushrooms have a little bit of tang, the egg has a creamy yolk and the white is dark with marinade, etc. The cabbage is just cabbage, but the crunch and freshness lifts the richness of the dish, so it still plays an important role. Really beautifully balanced and wonderful little surprises as you eat. I've ordered in-store. It's a good place to go with a you want to get to know, especially if they like anime. You order from your phone, get your own water, and they just let you enjoy your food with minimal interruptions. I've also ordered to-go, and it's one of the best to-go experiences I've had. The order was ready when the website promised, and they did such an elegant job separating the noodles from the vegetables in one container and the broth in another. My husband and I decided to try this place after hearing numerous people rave about it in the Arizona Asian Foodies Facebook group. Overall, we really enjoyed it! We both ordered the rich miso spicy ramen and shared a strawberry milk tea. The ramen broth was indeed rich, creamy, and delicious. I loved that the noodles were the curly kind. It came with two slices of pork belly cha-shu, half of an egg, and vegetables. I added an extra egg and seaweed on mine. While I thought the food was great, I am knocking my review down to 4 stars because this place is ridiculously overpriced. Our drink was nothing special and it was $5.25. Our two ramen bowls were almost $25 each. So our lunch for two people ended up being $65 after tax and tip. I'm a big ramen fan so I thought I'd give Origami Ramen a try. Online ordering was super easy and my order was waiting when I arrived. The interior decor is bright and striking. I got a vegan ramen with tofu. I appreciated that broth, noodles, and toppings were separately packaged. The tofu was tasty, though I felt like the majority of the toppings were corn and green onions. I liked the broth better than other vegan broths I've tried--nice richness and complexity. I had two issues--one is that I didn't feel like this was a $17 lunch. I know, inflation. But my neighborhood ramen shop has kept Ramen prices in the $10-$12 range. $17 ($20 with tax and tip) felt steep. My other issue is outside the control of Origami, but this parking lot is a bit crazy and a driver decided to gun it as I was starting to cross in the striped pedestrian crosswalk to pick up my order. Hello so I came to check out Ramen bar and... I do recommend this place. Being that decent Ramen bars with good broths are rare to find in Phoenix, the broth was incredibly good. I spent $100 for 2 Spicy's, 2 Originals, 1 Tokyo, and an appetizer of dumplings and that's with no drinks just water/ice tea. There are a number of things I did not enjoy. Each ramen bowl was half full of ramen & broth, Two slices of pork, onions, and a half of a egg. The ramen didn't get many additional sides. The portions could, in my opinion, be larger. If you'd want, you may order more sides with your ramen bowl, but the cost would be significantly higher. Self-serve water and iced tea are available. Overall, I really enjoy this restaurant. The meal was excellent, and I hope that the quantities will be larger the next time I visit. If you don't want to spend a lot of money, keep it simple and enjoy a good Ramen. read more

And if anyone is looking for a good authentic ramen, you gotta try this place out. I ordered the Origami Spicy, Baked Crab Hand Roll, a small Karaage, and my boyfriend ordered the Origami Rich Miso Spicy. My first impression of the menu was that I was surprised the ramens here doesn't use pork broth. So my Origami Spicy ramen was made with chicken broth. The other kind of broth is miso. My first bite of the ramen was so rich, so creamy, and so flavorful. I realized the ramen have two types of noodles too. The Origami Rich Miso Spicy ramen had the yellow curly noodles and the Origami spicy had the thin straight noodles. Both were really good. But if I have to choose between the two, I like the Origami Rich Miso Spicy ramen more. Both of these soups have the pork 'cha-shu' meat (pork belly). I believe they marinate the cha su because the meat taste a bit more on the sweeter side than what I'm familiar with. The spicy level for these soups were not too over whelming but it can be pretty spicy to some. I would say it's about a medium or medium-high spicy level. I also got the Baked Crab Hand Roll. I like the food art and presentation. This reminded me of sushi bake. This was good too but I probably would get a different hand roll than the bake crab one. Plus this was $5.50 for one small roll. The Karaage was really good too. I really liked the flavor of the chicken. I got the spicy mayo to dip in it but you can choose from the options of house-made mayo sauce, yuzu ponzu sauce, hot sauce, or no sauce. The Karaage was $7.50 for a small which was 6 pieces. With COVID they are are only doing takeout, their seating area is on the small side BTW. They take the extra step to stagger the orders, to minimize traffic. Looking at the reviews, people have complained about not being able to do walkup ordering, at this point it looks like they are still in the soft opening phase (still have the last restaurant sign) so use the website. I for one think they are taking the right approach, having been to a few new Ramen shops in Tempe/Chandler over the last few years, I have seen how customers can overwhelm the staff leading to chaos. We had the J-style ramen with a miso/chicken base and a unagi hand-roll. The broth was very flavorful, the noodles were perfect and the toppings filled in the canvas. Since Ramen is best served pipping hot I had never had it to-go. They went the extra mile by packaging the broth separate from the noodles and topping which allows one to heat up the broth at home while preserving the integrity of the other ingredients. I got the spicy ramen and it had lots of flavor definitely creamy and the right amount of spice. My boyfriend got the red ramen and it was also flavorful not as spicy as the spicy ramen. We'd definitely go back. My only complaint is the way we had to order. When we were sat no one told us what we were supposed to do so we sat looking stupid until we could wave a server down. I was very excited to try Origami ramen as I've heard positive things about its opening. I ordered to original ramen for takeout. The ramen was packaged nicely and organized. The soup was packaged separately from the noodles. The original ramen was inclusive of house-made ultra rich and creamy sea salt chicken broth with straight noodles topped house-made pork belly cha-shu ,egg ,green onion ,bamboo shoots, flavor oil and black pepper for $11.95. I also ordered online and it was a relatively easy and seamless process. Overall, I was not a fan of the ramen. We finally made it over to try Origami since it's been on our to-do list for a while. We tried a few of the different ramens, the fried dumplings, and the chicken katsu curry. We tried the Tokyo Shoyu, Rich Miso, and the Classic Ramen. All of them were good. The broth in the Miso Ramen was the most flavorful. All of the ingredients were as expected and good. Unfortunately the noodles themselves were the basic run of the mill store bought style. Not quite as low as a "Top Ramen" instant noodles but along those same lines. This is keeping it from a 5 stars spot for me. The fire cracker dumplings were excellent. The chicken katsu curry was an after thought just so we could try it but it quickly became our favorite dish of them all. The service was excellent and ordering was simple via QR code scanned menu and online ordering at your table. The restaurant is nice and quaint. We were there for an early dinner on a Sunday and it was about half full so no wait. This is one of the better Ramen spots we've found around town.
