Went to Shu Sushi for dinner while in Chandler on buisness. We were greeted by the hostess as soon as we entered and were promptly seated at a table with menus & offered drinks. We told the waitress this was our first time here so we would need a few minutes to look over the menu. Our server came over a little bit later and asked if we had any questions because we mentioned it was our first time. She was so kind and attentive and offered her opinions on food items. She checked on us often, ensured our drinks were topped off and provided boxes for our left overs. We ordered the edemame, miso soup, dragon roll, hawaiian roll, pho, combo noodles, bulgolge roll & a Bento box. Everything was delicious, but we had alot of food to go. Would highly reccomend this spot!

It was a Sunday evening and my friend and I managed to get seated right away in the heart of their dinner rush. The service has met expectations, and we ended up staying for about an hour. No flaws, but not memorable. The special salmon bento I ordered was fine, but the salmon fillet was sooooo small that it is disappointing. The flavor was finger-licking worthy though. By the way, the music for so loud for 5 minutes and no one addressed it.

Food was great, service was great. Nice, quiet and clean restaurant with a chill ambiance. Menu and but overwhelming but the waitress was so helpful.

Chunky Spicy Yellowtail Roll!! 5 stars for the flavors!!

Ok, the bad, its s bit of a sushi dive bar. That being said there are some really cute decorations in the seating area. The only reason I gave it 4 stars though is because the bar where I sat was not really cleaned well or wiped down from prior guest, the bar top a tad grimy. So why not fewer stars...The Sushi is amazing! If I judged it on Sushi alone an easy 5 stars. Several of the custom house rolls have excellent flavors. I will happily come here again for the food!!

Amazing service, plenty of seating, and a very chill atmosphere. The food was amazing overall -- definitely recommend the sushi and the teriyaki bowl. The chicken katsu was okay, but probably not something I'd order again.

The food is amazing! My favorite was the yellow tail! Absolutely delicious, the food is very fresh and so much flavor!

Q: What do ghosts put in their Philadelphia rolls? A: Scream cheese! I'm not gonna lie... I love me a Philly Roll. Leave me alone, okay?! I know it's not authentic but cream cheese and salmon belong together. Anywho! We came here to celebrate a couple of birthdays and I ordered myself a chirashi bowl. Fish so fresh that the meat was still glistening like they're Edward Cullen or something. They also offer fresh wasabi here which delights me. I love a good burn and the flavor of fresh wasabi can't be mimicked by the tubed paste. I was pleasantly surprised by my meal here at Shu Sushi Grill & Ramen. They had a steady flow of customers so you know they're a Tempe hotspot. Give this place a try!

Ordered the Hawaiian and the Spicy Alaska. Both delicious and cute presentation. The service is great and it's clean. Will be back.

Stopped by for lunch yesterday and my colleagues and I were very impressed with the menu. It had a variety of Asian cuisines, but not too many. I order the lunch special bento box and couldn't finish it. My colleagues ordered the beef (bulgogi) ramen and pork belly bento box and didn't finish them either. The service was good. I didn't use the restroom or peruse the place, but on the surface it appeared clean. Light music and appropriate lighting for a hot summer day. I'll definitely be back to try some of the other dishes!

My wife and I like trying different restaurants and then when we find one we like, we go there a lot. All the staff are friendly and helpful. Service is fast. The ambiance is Japanese but not trying too hard to look Japanese. So far all the food we have tried is good quality, size and excellent value for the money. The gyoza are very good. The spicy asparagus appetizer is delicious. All meals are served with miso soup which is good and a salad which I like a lot with their sweet carrot dressing. I had the chicken teriyaki which has two chicken breasts, rice, fried egg and a corn salad. The teriyaki sauce is delicious and when combined with the egg, corn and rice is a wonderful combination. My wife got a sushi platter and enjoyed it. I would highly recommend it.

    Yes!

Do they have gluten free ramen noodles?

Shu sushi has noodles which are gluten free because they are made from rice, but I believe the ramen noodles are wheat based and there for have noodles. Try the vermicelli of you want gluten free

Both hostess at the front didn't offer a wait list. Instead, we were offered a table in the back outside while everyone else was seated inside. As a Black family, the experience left us feeling unwelcome. I can't say why we were treated this way, but the interaction was extremely disappointing, we chose to dine elsewhere. Update: After my original review, the restaurant reached out to apologize for our experience. We decided to give them another chance, and I'm glad we did. Our return visit was completely different. The service was excellent, and we had the pleasure of meeting the Ashley Cook, General Manager and the owner. They made us feel genuinely welcome. Music is always on pointe and I would never change the look or ambiance of the place either. My last trip here though I had to ask about why the menu had stopped changing as often since we were one of two parties there in the middle of happy hour and there was a large framed picture of a bartender with a bunch of signed notes on the bottom of it beside me at the bar. It turns out that one of the oldest curators and bartenders of the bar and restaurant had passed from a drunk driving incident and I had not known at all! Gosh I was so disappointed in myself that I had ever complained about not having a new menu to try after that...but at the same time it was amazing to hear so many great anecdotes and to learn so much more about him and the history of the bar itself while dining this time. I had a lot of fun times at this bar - including remembering the first time I met that bartender and sharing that memory with the staff that told me their story. They also shared that they would be coming out with a new menu very soon and some of the new items and ideas that would be rolling out so I am also very excited to go back! New food menu tomorrow too?! What?! I was almost tempted to back today to get more of their amazing dishes from the main menu!! Thank you Cat for the amazing hospitality! I learned so much about Gaea in one afternoon too :D Love it. I didn't really try to feel the ambiance for the visit. I ordered a few basic and "safe" (but would consider as staple) dishes to test out this place: tempura, spicy tuna roll, rainbow roll, and chicken Yakisoba. Overall, yes, they all hit the standard. They are all good, but not great. Honestly, it will become the go-to 4th place and I would go back if my top 3 are all not available/long wait/close for the day. Lastly, the tempura is the most disappointing of all with portion size. So order 2 plates if you like veggies more than shrimps.

We'd already fallen in love with their Gilbert spot on a previous date night, but this time around? We had a baby in tow. Needless to say, we weren't entirely sure what to expect. Turns out, we had nothing to worry about. We were seated quickly and greeted so warmly. Even though the only available seating was at the sushi bar, the hostess didn't blink an eye--she immediately offered a high chair, and it fit perfectly right next to us (zero complaints from me!). Our waiter was incredibly friendly, walked us through the menu beautifully, and clued us in on the big differentiator for this location: their grill. Naturally, we had to test it out. We ordered the A5 Wagyu skewers, and oh my god, they literally melted in our mouths. As for the sushi, it came out fast, and the cuts were incredibly generous. The absolute star of the show was the toro--pure, buttery bliss that dissolved instantly. We also grabbed a sashimi sampler and a few other pieces; everything was flawlessly fresh. Even the side salad was on point and--bless them--not totally drenched in dressing. The only minor skip for me was the oysters, which weren't quite my favorite, but everything else easily made up for it. If you want top-tier, melt-in-your-mouth sushi and killer grill items, this spot is a must. We will absolutely be back!
