Very good sushi place! However I will say their sushi is a lot better than their hot plates. The nigiri's were super delicious and seemed pretty fresh. Was not super impressed with their miso black cod. Servers were super sweet and attentive.

Came here with my coworkers and we all love our dishes from the lunch menu! Tip: the lunch menu has some of the same items in the dinner menu but for a cheaper price! I got the Udon Carbonara $15! This dish was delicious. The udon itself was AL Dente, chewy and soft at the same time. I honestly can just slurp the udon because of how good the texture is. The sauce was so creamy. And the bacon was a nice add to the dish. It was not greasy and the bacon flavor shines throughout the dish with the sauce and udon. Today's special was Truffle chicken meatball. It was so good! Comes with yuzu salt and spicy salt on the side. It has all the flavors combined: light sweetness from the sauce, savory from chicken, citrus from lemon, spicy and yuzu flavor from the Japanese salts. Can't wait to go back to try more items on the lunch menu. The staff was really nice, welcoming, and make conversations with us. The restaurant has a calm atmosphere.

I may not be able to eat sushi anywhere else after this! I came for the Restaurant Week lunch deal and am so glad I finally made it here. Everything from service to ambiance to food was excellent. And I love that they brought lunch service back to this location! Friday, Saturday, Sunday only and still make a reservation! It was busy! I wanted something fun to drink but non-alcoholic, so the bartender stopped by to help me decide. I got the Miso Sour and it was so good! This had a nice balance of flavors. I started with the Hamachi Crudo which has grapefruit ponzu, lemon mayo, Serrano pepper, and thin cucumber slices. This was so good! Refreshing with just the right amount of spice. Next I enjoyed chopped salad and miso. The salad was very fresh and had a variety of goodies including edamame, purple cabbage, and avocado. The miso is so good!! It was delicate and yet so flavorful. I chose the Yuzu tuna roll option which has spicy tuna and avocado inside, with big eye tuna on top, garnished with micro cilantro, red onion, and yuzu. This was so good! I also thought their ginger stood out - I would bet they make this in house. I can see why this always has such great reviews!

    Shimogamo roll, excellent!

Great yelp reviews, interesting menu, So decided to celebrate Anniversary meal here. Made reservation, and was seated upon arrival. The decor is pleasant & minimalist. Seating was adequate, but not great. I am of jumbo size, though my wife is not. Table was barely big enough for me to get comfy at. Chair was barely ok. We had perused the menu before arriving so knew what we would order. Cocktails were excellent! Shimogamo roll..excellent! Crispy truffle crab , unimpressed. slivers of shredded crab on top of a tiny toast square. $ 23 Tempura udon bowl, very good. Came with 2 delicious large tempura shrimp. Chirashi bowl. Very nice assortment of super fresh quality sashimi, over perfect rice. The hit of the meal was the Saikyo miso black cod. We agreed, this was the most scrumptious piece of fish we had ever eaten. PERFECTLY cooked, buttery and luscious. Service was good, unpretentious, though final tab was on the high side. Food and drinks were outstanding, service good, atmosphere Japanese austere & pleasant. We enjoyed the meal, and compliment the chefs!

Great date night spot! They have specials that are really unique and flown in from Japan. We had a wide range of dishes - all were fantastic. The carbonara udon, the salad, fried chicken, and the grilled waygu were a few, as well as several rolls and some nigiri. Service was quick and she was really nice. Would definitely come back!

Omg!!! Pricey but so so fresh and delicious. There's no bad food here. Carb-less sashimi bowl - fresh and melt in your mouth sashimi. Almost didn't want to share. Beef carpaccio - our party loved this dish so much. We would return just for this. Picture does not look as good because I already chugged down a piece before camera got to it. Chirashi bowl - fresh and delicious. The sushi rice on the bottom was super yummy. Scalloped something- fusionized so it was different. Good but everything above stole the thunder. Udon - broth was so refreshing. Desserts: Sake Cheesecake (I think) and Matcha crème brûlée - cheesecake was good but the matcha crème brûlée was out of this world.

My boss, who is a big foodie, recommended this place, so I brought one of my coworkers along to try it out. We ended up ordering a lot of sushi, including several of their specialty rolls. Everything was incredibly fresh, which I was thrilled about -- especially since I've had mixed experiences with freshness at some other sushi spots in Phoenix. The uni was very good, and the Wagyu was tasty and well prepared. You can really tell they care about quality. Overall, a great sushi experience with high-quality fish and solid execution. We'll definitely be back to try more of the menu!

    Udon Carbonara

Such great food all around. We celebrated a friend's birthday and made the drive for Shimogamo, totally worth it. Everything was phenomenal, and the fish tasted incredibly fresh. The udon carbonara was the favorite of the night for our whole group. It was rich but not too heavy, and splitting it as an appetizer was perfect. The salmon katsu was unique, and the sauce on top really made the dish. It's a fun, elevated take on tartar sauce. For my main, I ordered the spare ribs and would 100% recommend them. The portion was surprisingly large and packed with flavor. I added a side of rice, which complemented the sticky sauce perfectly. Portions here may be on the smaller side, but every bite is amazing. Our waitress had a great personality and kept things fun while also being informative about the dishes. I can't wait to dine here again, definitely recommend making a reservation. Please open a location in the West Valley!

My first visit to this location and it was such a delight! We had a somewhat late reservation and we were seated in an almost private room which was very much our preference! We ended up being able to put two tables together for our party of four! And great because we definitely ordered enough to fill up them both! The food, service and rotating specials are what stood out! Everything was fresh, delicious and beautifully presented. The only pics I ended up taking were of our mind blowing desserts! A mango mountain of shaved ice and a matcha tiramisu!

Oh my gosh this dinner was unbelievable! The hostess Camille was amazing to get new skip in for omakase and they were so great about letting me work on my laptop as I have a book I'm working on and needed a change of scenery to get me through. I couldn't have asked for a better experience! All the staff were amazing! Khari was another who stood out as he presented me one is my dishes! Well done all around! The staff are exquisite! Chef Jack personalized dishes to my preferences and my server Heidi was so warm and attentive!

this is my favorite sushi restaurant in Phoenix. High quality fish that has been consistent every time we come. The truffle amberjack is my favorite thing to get every time. We love getting the madai and scallop when we're here! Also love getting the matcha tiramisu for dessert. Great service and great ambiance!

Negi Toro Roll, yuzu tuna roll

This is hands-down the best sushi restaurant in the Mesa/Chandler/Gilbert/Tempe area. The fish is always incredibly fresh, the rolls are beautifully made, and the service is consistently top-notch. A few months back, my husband and I ordered takeout and it wasn't quite up to their usual standard--the rolls weren't assembled as neatly, and the fish was almost warm. I reached out, and the bar manager, Tommy, immediately invited us in for a redo. He took amazing care of us and made sure everything was perfect. The difference was night and day, and it really showed how committed they are to quality and customer satisfaction. We're heading back in today to celebrate my birthday, and we honestly couldn't be more excited. When a place not only serves incredible sushi but also stands behind their food and their guests, that's a restaurant worth supporting. Absolutely 10/10. Highly recommend!

Have been eyeing this spot for a while and it was an experience for sure! As soon as I walked in, I noticed the modern ambiance. The lighting and decor really bring together the classy dining experience. We were immediately asked if we had reservations (we didn't) but luckily we came right at opening and the hostess and waiter were very prompt in seating us. We ordered one order each of salmon and tuna nigiri (~$11-13 per two pieces). We also were interested in the curry udon, however were notified that the pork belly could not be subbed for chicken. Instead, we opted for the cucumber and eel and zen roll (~$20 for each 8 piece roll). The rolls were decent but not sure if the taste can justify the price; however still tasty (and I'm speaking as a broke student still, haha). The nigiri, however, was some of the best I've had in Arizona! The tuna and salmon meat was perfectly fatty and soft. It melted in my mouth. Not sure if it's worth the price, but man it was scrumptious and had me contemplating if I wanted to order more! Also ordered the Kamogawa Breeze, which was the perfect balance of sweetness from the peach sparkling sake. I would like to come back for the Harvest in Uji, which almost resembles a matcha espresso martini! Overall, great drinks and nigiri, but I'd save this place for a special occasion/night out due to the pricing.

Do we need reservations on a tuesday?

I would always suggest reservations especially if you want to eat at the sushi bar. Otherwise depending on what time you could always walk in, they have "counter seating" too which is NOT the sushi bar.

    Do they order buffet menu?

Hell Nah!! This establishment is quality not quantity...

    Is there a dress code?

    No, definitely not

Are you guys open for dine in right now?

    Yes

Do you serve the Dinner Menu during Lunch hours?

Yes we do, except for the special items. Please ask the server for the menu.

    Do they deliver?

No. We neither take to-go orders nor deliver. It’s just for the safety purpose. We serve fresh fish that need to be managed carefully under professional care.

Its in a building at the edge of a strip mall so seems like plenty of parking. There's a fun light display with the logo outside the front door on the sidewalk. Inside is very cute! They've definitely made an effort on the ambiance. There's also a nice side patio that looks like it has bamboo shades to make it less "strip mall". The staff here are very warm and welcoming. Great service! Throughout our dinner and our long sitting and chatting after, our waitress was friendly, checking in and offering soda refills. We had the shrimp tempura -- really good! A friend had sushi and loved it (and comes here regularly), and the rest of us all had stir-fries, which were all very good. I ordered Mongolian beef and asked if they had chili oil and our waitress asked if I wanted it in the dish or on the side and I said both, which was no problem. This is a great neighborhood spot to enjoy a relaxed dinner (or lunch!) with friends (or yourself, whatever). It wasn't noisy and we felt very welcomed there. Food was great and its really a great option if you want sushi and others dont. They also have happy hour pricing on some of the appetizers, sushi and boba but I don't think they have alcohol. I can see why this place gets such high stars and will definitely be back.

Music is always on pointe and I would never change the look or ambiance of the place either. My last trip here though I had to ask about why the menu had stopped changing as often since we were one of two parties there in the middle of happy hour and there was a large framed picture of a bartender with a bunch of signed notes on the bottom of it beside me at the bar. It turns out that one of the oldest curators and bartenders of the bar and restaurant had passed from a drunk driving incident and I had not known at all! Gosh I was so disappointed in myself that I had ever complained about not having a new menu to try after that...but at the same time it was amazing to hear so many great anecdotes and to learn so much more about him and the history of the bar itself while dining this time. I had a lot of fun times at this bar - including remembering the first time I met that bartender and sharing that memory with the staff that told me their story. They also shared that they would be coming out with a new menu very soon and some of the new items and ideas that would be rolling out so I am also very excited to go back!
