Hamachi crudo (restaurant week lunch portion)
    Alisha O.

I may not be able to eat sushi anywhere else after this! I came for the Restaurant Week lunch deal and am so glad I finally made it here. Everything from service to ambiance to food was excellent. And I love that they brought lunch service back to this location! Friday, Saturday, Sunday only and still make a reservation! It was busy! I wanted something fun to drink but non-alcoholic, so the bartender stopped by to help me decide. I got the Miso Sour and it was so good! This had a nice balance of flavors. I started with the Hamachi Crudo which has grapefruit ponzu, lemon mayo, Serrano pepper, and thin cucumber slices. This was so good! Refreshing with just the right amount of spice. Next I enjoyed chopped salad and miso. The salad was very fresh and had a variety of goodies including edamame, purple cabbage, and avocado. The miso is so good!! It was delicate and yet so flavorful. I chose the Yuzu tuna roll option which has spicy tuna and avocado inside, with big eye tuna on top, garnished with micro cilantro, red onion, and yuzu. This was so good! I also thought their ginger stood out - I would bet they make this in house. I can see why this always has such great reviews!

    Udon Carbonara

Such great food all around. We celebrated a friend's birthday and made the drive for Shimogamo, totally worth it. Everything was phenomenal, and the fish tasted incredibly fresh. The udon carbonara was the favorite of the night for our whole group. It was rich but not too heavy, and splitting it as an appetizer was perfect. The salmon katsu was unique, and the sauce on top really made the dish. It's a fun, elevated take on tartar sauce. For my main, I ordered the spare ribs and would 100% recommend them. The portion was surprisingly large and packed with flavor. I added a side of rice, which complemented the sticky sauce perfectly. Portions here may be on the smaller side, but every bite is amazing. Our waitress had a great personality and kept things fun while also being informative about the dishes. I can't wait to dine here again, definitely recommend making a reservation. Please open a location in the West Valley!

My boss, who is a big foodie, recommended this place, so I brought one of my coworkers along to try it out. We ended up ordering a lot of sushi, including several of their specialty rolls. Everything was incredibly fresh, which I was thrilled about -- especially since I've had mixed experiences with freshness at some other sushi spots in Phoenix. The uni was very good, and the Wagyu was tasty and well prepared. You can really tell they care about quality. Overall, a great sushi experience with high-quality fish and solid execution. We'll definitely be back to try more of the menu!

this is my favorite sushi restaurant in Phoenix. High quality fish that has been consistent every time we come. The truffle amberjack is my favorite thing to get every time. We love getting the madai and scallop when we're here! Also love getting the matcha tiramisu for dessert. Great service and great ambiance!

Oh my gosh this dinner was unbelievable! The hostess Camille was amazing to get new skip in for omakase and they were so great about letting me work on my laptop as I have a book I'm working on and needed a change of scenery to get me through. I couldn't have asked for a better experience! All the staff were amazing! Khari was another who stood out as he presented me one is my dishes! Well done all around! The staff are exquisite! Chef Jack personalized dishes to my preferences and my server Heidi was so warm and attentive!

Never found good sushi in arizona until we came here! Sushi was fresh and clean. Taste was impeccable! The vibe and experience was the best! Joe and Micah were the best servers/hosts! They made us feel comfortable and contributed to a fun dining experience. Every dish we got was fire!

This is hands-down the best sushi restaurant in the Mesa/Chandler/Gilbert/Tempe area. The fish is always incredibly fresh, the rolls are beautifully made, and the service is consistently top-notch. A few months back, my husband and I ordered takeout and it wasn't quite up to their usual standard--the rolls weren't assembled as neatly, and the fish was almost warm. I reached out, and the bar manager, Tommy, immediately invited us in for a redo. He took amazing care of us and made sure everything was perfect. The difference was night and day, and it really showed how committed they are to quality and customer satisfaction. We're heading back in today to celebrate my birthday, and we honestly couldn't be more excited. When a place not only serves incredible sushi but also stands behind their food and their guests, that's a restaurant worth supporting. Absolutely 10/10. Highly recommend!

Have been eyeing this spot for a while and it was an experience for sure! As soon as I walked in, I noticed the modern ambiance. The lighting and decor really bring together the classy dining experience. We were immediately asked if we had reservations (we didn't) but luckily we came right at opening and the hostess and waiter were very prompt in seating us. We ordered one order each of salmon and tuna nigiri (~$11-13 per two pieces). We also were interested in the curry udon, however were notified that the pork belly could not be subbed for chicken. Instead, we opted for the cucumber and eel and zen roll (~$20 for each 8 piece roll). The rolls were decent but not sure if the taste can justify the price; however still tasty (and I'm speaking as a broke student still, haha). The nigiri, however, was some of the best I've had in Arizona! The tuna and salmon meat was perfectly fatty and soft. It melted in my mouth. Not sure if it's worth the price, but man it was scrumptious and had me contemplating if I wanted to order more! Also ordered the Kamogawa Breeze, which was the perfect balance of sweetness from the peach sparkling sake. I would like to come back for the Harvest in Uji, which almost resembles a matcha espresso martini! Overall, great drinks and nigiri, but I'd save this place for a special occasion/night out due to the pricing.

Finally got to try the famous Shimogamo. I know they are pricey, yet thankfully they were on 2025 Arizona restaurant week, so came here for it. It's cute and cozy, and food was yummy. Yellowtail carpaccio was good, and the other appetizer- it came with caviar, was yummy. Their wagyu melt in my mouth and I really loved sushi. It came seasoned, so didn't need to use soy sauce. Their service was ok- nothing exceptional. I think this place is definitely better than other sushi spots here in terms of quality, but I definitely feel they are pricey in terms of their quality if it was regular price. Anyways food was good!

My first time at the Chandler location and I had a great time! It seems more traditional than the Gilbert location and my friend and I sat at the bar. I can't recall the names of our 2 servers to helped us, but I do remember they were from Michigan. We got a bottle of the house sake and I got the udon carbonara. My friend got the citrus roll and we ended up splitting the yuzu tuna roll. That roll was absolutely delicious. The yuzu and the spiciness from the serrano chili and spicy tuna was absolutely amazing. I highly recommend that roll! I wasn't a fan of the udon carbonara. It tasted like the noodles were overcooked which was a bummer because I've had it before at the Gilbert location and it was really good. My friend got the harvest in uji cocktail and that was so delicious. Super strong!

    Wagyu beef - yummy!!

This place is great! Probably our favorite sushi place in the Phoenix metro area. We usually get sushi, but for AZ Restaurant Week we branched out and the snow crab tempuri was amazing, as well as the Wagyu beef and cheesecake. Great cocktails too! I am glad I don't live closer or else I would spend too much money here!

Great place for sushi! Love their Kanpachi, Negihama & Panna Cotta dessert! Always ordering more than I think when I come here! Definitely will keep coming Just beware of the wait time for service, since they are relatively small. However quite cozy vibes on the inside.

Wow, what a great hidden gem!! This restaurant is tucked away in a strip mall next to a big Korean hot pot restaurant. It's quaint, adorable and super charming. I got takeout so I didn't get to experience the service. The food was delicious. Salmon Nigiri was amazing! Tasted like the salmon in Japan! Melted in my mouth. Also got a salad with cooked salmon. The salad had all kinds of wonderful things in it - cucumber, tomato's, edamame, carrots, onions, etc. highly recommend this place!

Do we need reservations on a tuesday?

I would always suggest reservations especially if you want to eat at the sushi bar. Otherwise depending on what time you could always walk in, they have "counter seating" too which is NOT the sushi bar.

    Do they order buffet menu?

Hell Nah!! This establishment is quality not quantity...

    Is there a dress code?

    No, definitely not

Are you guys open for dine in right now?

    Yes

Do you serve the Dinner Menu during Lunch hours?

Yes we do, except for the special items. Please ask the server for the menu.

    Do they deliver?

No. We neither take to-go orders nor deliver. It’s just for the safety purpose. We serve fresh fish that need to be managed carefully under professional care.

The service was great; the server at the cashier was very patient when we ordered and one of them checked in on us while we were dining in. We ordered the sushi-licious, classic sushi platters, and a teriyaki chicken bowl. The sushi tasted fresh, but pretty standard for a fast-food type Japanese restaurant. Definitely liked the sushi-licious platter more than the classic, since the classic included avocado and cucumber rolls, which are a little too basic for my liking because they just contain rice and cucumber/avocado. My favorite was the volcano roll included in the sushi-licious platter. Great portion size for the price (~$11). The chicken teriyaki bowl was more salty than sweet and included lots of mushrooms as well. Not my favorite chicken teriyaki but still tasty if you're in the mood for it.

Looking at the menu for some reason I had a feeling ramen was not going to fill me up so I decided to order appetizer. Ordered Geso Yaki (fried squid legs) and gal recommended Tantan ramen if I I like spicy. Geso Yaki came and looked pretty good with some side sweet dipping sauce. It's not really just squid legs had other parts of squid which I didn't mind. It tasted pretty good with slight crisp to it.. Batter had some seasoning which made it tastier. Then my ramen came.. Looked pretty good but portion looked small. But then again for costing $14 can't complain. Broth was nice and hearty and I couldn't quite figure out the flavor. Then I read the description and it said sesame.. Then it made little more sense of the flavor. I definitely would not call it spicy. Ramen noodle was nice and chewy just the way I like it.. Only thing I didnt like was the pork. It was not bad but I prefer the fatty melt in your mouth kind with my ramen. Over all the food was pretty darn good and price was on point. I would definitely come back here again.
