    Shrimp tempura roll
    Alexandra S.

A group of us ordered takeout for a night in. They did a good job accommodating our order 15 minutes before closing, but several menu items like ramen and shrimp tempura were unavailable. I only tried the fried egg rolls, the shrimp tempura roll, the Angry Tail roll, and the miso soup. All of those were delicious. I'll definitely be back to dine in and try more of their food!

The salmon is very fresh! I'll be back to try more different types of fish. Would have liked the sashimi pieces to be a bit thicker, but overall good food and service.

Yum! We stopped in here today for lunch. The restaurant is on the smaller side with a patio. We ordered the chicken teriyaki for my daughter, a heart attack roll, a tiger roll and an Alaska roll. The teriyaki was excellent and the chicken was tender. It was served with broccoli, asparagus and white rice. The heart attack roll was deep fried was spicy tuna, avocado, cream cheese, jalapeño with spicy Mayo and eel sauce. It was divine. The tiger roll is a California roll topped with shrimp and eel sauce. I didn't try this one but my boyfriend loved it. The Alaska roll is a California roll topped with salmon and ponzu sauce. It was so good! The salmon was excellent and very fresh. For dessert, we had strawberry mochi ice cream! Always a great option. They offer green tea and vanilla as well. Service was good. I do wish they would clear plates when we finish them but the food is worth it anyway.

Great food! Great service! Mumu was our server and did an amazing job, even though she was the only server and had a few large tables. We found this place randomly by a Siri search and could not have been more pleased! The sushi rolls were all delicious! We tried the Rose Roll, Red rock roll and shrimp tempura roll. The ramen was also very delicious! Every single thing was top notch quality, freshness and flavor!

They told us to please stay and we are so welcome and they were over the top accommodating. Everything was so good. The spicy miso wasn't my favorite flavor but that is just a personal preference. They offer a nice variety of Japanese dishes, but we were definitely here for the ramen. I ordered the spicy miso ramen, and it came out just right--perfectly spicy with fish cake, green onions, and all the toppings. It was delicious and hit the spot. The tonkotsu ramen had a nice creaminess to it, but it could've used a bit more depth of flavor. One thing I really liked is that you can order side appetizers along with your entrée, almost like building your own bento-style meal. We went with the deep-fried gyoza and gyudon. The gyudon was a standout--definitely five stars. The gyoza, however, was just okay for me. Breakdown:    *   Spicy miso ramen:    *   Tonkotsu ramen:    *   Gyudon:    *   Gyoza: Service was friendly, the restaurant was clean, and overall it definitely satisfied our ramen craving.

Updated review-- still 5 stars for me :)…read more Tonight we went to dinner hosted by the Tasting Collective (a dining club I joined last year). The menu was 5 courses prix fixe designed by the head chef for this group. The restaurant was closed as a private event. Service was excellent, the food was also so delicious, and cocktails were great too. Shimogamo is one of the few Japanese restaurants in the valley that remind me of eating Japanese food in Japan. It's well prepared, fresh, and high quality. The cocktails are creative and nods to Japan with delicate flavors and unique ingredients. Our courses were: started with the truffle amberjack which is a flavor bomb, very rich and truffle forward. Which I don't always enjoy but when paired with amberjack, it was great. 2nd course was a nigiri plate- 4 choices: sea bream (which I love), a fancy type salmon, toro, and couple pieces of the wagyu roll. Next onto a darn near perfect crab croquet that was creamy with big pieces of crab and perfectly fried, and main course was K4 ranch Wagyu from Prescott. Very buttery and delicious. We ended with a matcha basque cheesecake. The chefs talked about the food, answered questions, and talked about their background. It was an enjoyable dinner and we will be back for the "oysters and cocktails" hour they were promoting. I love both of those things.

He checked in to make sure we knew how to eat the noodles properly and gently let us know when the kitchen and restaurant were closing. 5/5 -- Definitely Worth Coming Back!…read more - Atmosphere: Loved the modern Japanese/Asian ambiance. The lighting was perfect--not too bright, but not overly intimate either. It could easily work for a more intimate meal, while still feeling open and comfortable. The booths have tons of space, which was a huge plus. - Service: Our waitress, Karina, was awesome! She was friendly, attentive, and kept checking on us throughout the meal. Refills were always right on time, and she made sure we had everything we needed. - Food: Everything came out quickly and was really well prepared. The chef did a great job keeping up with the orders. We had the Sweetheart Roll, New York Roll, miso soup, garden salad, salmon and tuna sashimi, and tempura udon. Everything was on point! - Spice Level: The rolls were supposed to have some heat, but honestly, they weren't very spicy. Still delicious--just don't expect a big kick if you like your sushi spicy. - Drinks: They don't have sweet tea, but the tea they served was actually really good with just a little sugar added. - Value: The all-you-can-eat price was around $30-$31 per person, and we definitely ate enough to make it worth every penny. Great selection and good portions. - Overall: One of the better places we've tried so far. The atmosphere, service, food, and value all came together really well. For today's visit, it's an easy 5/5.
