Great local sushi restaurant! Just try it... you won't regret it! It's a regular stop for me!

First time at Shinko Sushi House. I arrived at 12:30 on a Wednesday afternoon and it was 1/4 full. My server greeted me at the door, let me pick a table and then brought menus. The interior was trendy, with wood floors and walls, industrial ceiling and top 40 music playing. I ordered the Spicy Tuna Tempura Roll, the Sunshine Roll and an iced tea. In all, it came to $28.72 plus tip. The tea was rather large, which was refreshing for today's restaurants. My lunch arrived in about 15 mins, mostly because a table for four sat down right before me and they were rather needy. The sunshine roll was different than any other sunshine roll I'd had. Their menu descriptions were rather minimal but I was expecting lemon and got masego (roe). It was okay but not what whetted my appetite The tuna roll was a vey pleasant surprise though. I assumed the shrimp tempura would be the only fried aspect but the entire roll was fried after assembly. Very good balance of savory to saucy, heat to cool and soft to crunchy. I'd order that roll again. I'll come back, next time I'm in the area. read more

Recently got some sushi for takeout and it was amazing!!! The restaurant itself is pretty small. I've never eaten inside, but I have gotten takeout and it was delicious. I ordered the avocado rolls and some miso soup!! Yum yum!!!! ;) definitely recommend this place read more

A group of us ordered takeout for a night in. They did a good job accommodating our order 15 minutes before closing, but several menu items like ramen and shrimp tempura were unavailable. I only tried the fried egg rolls, the shrimp tempura roll, the Angry Tail roll, and the miso soup. All of those were delicious. So we have waited a while to see if there was improvement. We went back due to the awesome reviews and, well everyone deserves a second shot. Last time we went they had just opened and well, the sushi was at Safeway level. So let's discuss improvements and what didn't. We were greeted and promptly sat with open seating. The ambiance has not changed, it looks clean, but the table was sticky. Food was served with take out chopsticks. The upgrade would have been the non take out version. We ordered 4 rolls, beer and a soda. We were not offered miso soup. Honestly, this was a loss for us. I will say the food was slightly better than our last visit, but not good enough for us to come back. We came here to have a great sushi meal. Walked in and sat down, only one person was working. Every table was slammed and it took close to 10 mins for the server to approach us to take the order. Just so disappointing because it looked like a cool place. read more

Ordered a mix of cut rolls, nigiri, and a hand roll. Meh - it was just OK. Nigiri salmon and yellowtail pieces were undersized. The spicy scallop hand roll was mushy and half of the filling was not scallop, probably imitation crab. I usually go to Tabe-Mono but unfortunately they closed... Yum! We stopped in here today for lunch. The restaurant is on the smaller side with a patio. We ordered the chicken teriyaki for my daughter, a heart attack roll, a tiger roll and an Alaska roll. The teriyaki was excellent and the chicken was tender. It was served with broccoli, asparagus and white rice. The heart attack roll was deep fried was spicy tuna, avocado, cream cheese, jalapeño with spicy Mayo and eel sauce. It was divine. The tiger roll is a California roll topped with shrimp and eel sauce. I didn't try this one but my boyfriend loved it. The Alaska roll is a California roll topped with salmon and ponzu sauce. It was so good! The salmon was excellent and very fresh. For dessert, we had strawberry mochi ice cream! Always a great option. They offer green tea and vanilla as well. Service was good. I do wish they would clear plates when we finish them but the food is worth it anyway. read more

Great food! Great service! Mumu was our server and did an amazing job, even though she was the only server and had a few large tables. We found this place randomly by a Siri search and could not have been more pleased! The sushi rolls were all delicious! We tried the Rose Roll, Red rock roll and shrimp tempura roll. Love this place! I always order their house poke bowl and the salmon crunch roll. They are a bit pricey but worth it!

Stopped in about 7pm on a Saturday and although it wasn't packed it was very good. I love little places like this because they are small local gems. I ordered a few sushi rolls, edamame, and some ramen. All of the food was made to order and very tasty! The restaurant was clean and well kept. It was fairly quiet inside and very peaceful. Sticky tables. Just ok sushi and not sure what was up with the ramen. My issue...Service. None existent. Just not good or bad. Just efficiently banquet. Drop the menus. What do you want. Try to figure out how to push buttons on their order taker iPod. No thank you, no follow up. Not even busy. Will not be back. Friends live down there and feel terrible about their dining choices. I come here almost every time I visit my mom from San Diego. It's a family run business with great quality and flavor. I've had many dishes: sushi rolls, sashimi, various appetizers, ramen; beer, and tea. I would recommend everything I've tried; my favorites are unagi and ramen. The place is clean and well kept with nice spacing between guests. There is a secluded outdoor dining area. The staff is always welcoming and there is plenty of parking. read more

We enjoyed our it first visit to Shinko!! The ambience is super pleasant and the restaurant looks super clean (super important to us especially in a sushi restaurant). Our waitress Brianna was super friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. She had great suggestions. The sushi was very fresh and the rolls were delicious. I like that it's super close to home as I'm the laziest person to drive anywhere that takes more than 5 minutes. The Miso ramen is pretty decent and their teriyaki bowls aren't too bad either, although I feel like it's not real teriyaki but it's still tasty and like that veggies come with it. We tried Shinko sushi for the first time last week and their sushi was great! Restaurant is on the smaller side but makes for a quiet meal and faster service. This sushi place opened about or month or two ago. Being in the foothills people like to talk down about the service of new places and so on, so don't let any reviews like that fool you. I know soft openings and opening in general is tough and takes a while to get into a routine and settle in. We came for lunch and it was not crowded at all which was great. The place is very clean and has nice decor through out. There is no sushi bar but don't let that fool you, the food was excellent. We got the monkey brains appetizer that was tasty and then a few rolls to share. Overall the quality of fish was excellent and the spicy tuna is actually spicy! We will be back for sure. They don't currently have a liquor license but are hoping they get it soon (in the works they said). Give this place a try in our little neighborhood for a family owned place .. you won't be disappointed. read more
