Thought I reviewed it on our first visit but can't find my review so here we go... It's our second visit to Kungfu Ramen so trying something different. Got the braised beef ramen plus Mongolian chicken and xiao long bao for a new and very tasty adventure! Beef was nice and tender and the ramen soup with hand pulled original noodles was wonderfully savory with a tiny little kick and nice bouncy noodles too! The soup dumplings were nice and packed with flavor and the accompanying dipping sauce was nice. My friend was smiling ear to ear while eating their Mongolian chicken. We also ordered a stir fried rice noodle chicken to go (may have been a mix up and got regular noodles instead of rice noodles) which unfortunately am told was just ok. The dining room is clean and service is fast. Food is nice and hot so it was perfectly timed and just what we needed! It's nice to know the noodles are made fresh in house so you can order the type of noodles you want. Looking forward to giving m them another try for the stir fried rice noodles and hope to get the right one next time. Didn't realize there was a mix up until we brought it home. Parking is easy and right outside the door.

I've been coming here for months and it is mighty tasty. They recently updated the interior and it looks brighter and bigger now. The menu changed a little bit, but I was still able to get my favorite. I love this place because everything is basically made in house and it tastes so good. The staff is kind and welcoming. I was impressed by their to go bag, cute and effective to keep your leftovers warm.

They're back open after renovations. Kung Fu Ramen did an overhaul and is now Kung Fu Noodles. They have the same menu with a couple added dishes from the chandler location. Food is excellent. Hand pulled noodles are the best in town. I loved the Pickled Veggie Fried Rice as well. The XLB is hand made and delicious too.

Tomato beef noodle soup and 8 Steamed Dumplings

Had issues with DoorDash here - apparently they never got our order in there system even though DD said they did. Got my refund with DD so it was fine. Ended up ordering to-go and got the tomato beef noodle soup and dumplings. The noodle soup was just OK - oddly very sour/tart compared to any tomato beef noodle soup we've ever had, so we didn't really like it. The steamed dumplings were just OK. Probably won't return but they are quite popular for other items, give it a try and decide for yourself.

I left this restaurant four hours ago and while parking my car at home I had a neighbor ask me if I'd recommend this place for lunch........I quickly thought about it and replied "yes." Our server was super kind and answered all our menu questions in detail. I wasn't sure what to expect but really enjoyed the signature noodle soup. ($14.99) It arrived hot in a large bowl with VERY tender beef, chick peas, leafy greens, slices of tomatoes and lots of noodles. Interesting-Personally I don't recall ever having chickpeas in noodle soup before. Or I just haven't had enough varieties of Chinese noodle soups. :) ) The broth was very tasty! They have eight different varieties of noodles to choose from. Hand pulled: thin, regular, thick, chive, wide and extra wide. Knife-sliced noodles: regular and wide. My cohort's entrees came with generous portions of their choice of noodles! Stir fried lamb and regular noodles ($16.99) and chicken with sauce on thin noodles. ($14.99) One gal took half her entree home because she couldn't eat the large portion. No wait time for a table at noon today (Monday) and there is lots of free parking.

Meat in Bun. Accurate description, haha!

Ramen Fact: The word "ramen" may have come from the Chinese word "lamian," a type of Chinese noodle. With that said, don't come here thinking you're getting Japanese ramen. This is very much a Chinese noodle shop. Once you get that cleared up and in your head that you won't be inhaling Japanese ramen like Naruto, you will enjoy yourself! Our party of five got a wide variety of food to eat. Spicy Cucumber Salad, Scallion Pancake, Meat in Bun, and Xiao Long Baos were shared. For my main dish, I got the Sauce Mixed Noodles with lamb and chive noodles (although it didn't taste like chives to me). Everything was pretty good. Their spicy cucumber salad was standard and satisfying. It's no Michelin Star but it was still satisfying. The scallion pancake and meat in bun was nothing spectacular either but still very delicious. The XLBs were pretty good. Definitely get these if you stop into Kungfu Ramen. As for the Sauce Mixed Noodles, they were good! It comes in a tomato sauce and the noodles were delightfully springy. All in all, I enjoyed my meal with friends at Kungfu Ramen.

Kungfu Ramen is an Asian restaurant which offers much more than ramen! I was pleased with the service. There were two individuals to seat and serve Customers. It was fast and friendly, so nothing to worry about there. Of course, arriving right at "opening" time helps! ;) There's much more than just ramen on the menu. Since they offered Dim Sum, I asked if they offered Shumai. Sadly, they didn't. The Xiao Long Bao (XLB) was made with beef. For me, this was out of the ordinary, given I'd had XLB made with either shrimp, pork or both in the past, but never beef. The flavor was okay and they were served steaming hot. The Scallion Pancake was light and thin; very delicate. I just wish it had more scallion flavor. The cucumber salad was okay, though it looked like the veggies were a bit old. Overall, the food and experience were good and I may visit again to try their ramen

Overall a 3.5/5 stars. We've been looking for a hand drawn noodle restaurant replacement ever since our favorite closed down last year. We would have never found this place if it weren't for some word of mouth. As others have stated, don't let the name fool you. It's not a Japanese ramen place! It should be "lamian," which is the Chinese word for noodles. You will only find Chinese staple dishes here (not American Chinese takeout style). The restaurant is super clean and the staff are gentle and kind. I appreciated how one employee helped me package our leftovers :) Portions are HUGE! One dish could easily become 2-3 meals for a single person. I ordered the Chicken Stir-fried Noodles with the default thickness of noodles. The flavor was good, but way too salty for me. Noodle texture was fine. It was also a bit greasy. My partner got the Lanzhou Noodles with thin noodles. I really enjoyed his dish. The seasoning was just right (still a touch too salty for me, but I am more salt sensitive). I kept asking for more spoonfuls of his broth. Something that I don't mind, but my partner does: the dish does mostly come with fattier and collagen heavy pieces of meat. We think Kungfu Ramen excels more with their noodle soups, so we plan on coming back to try their other noodle soup dishes and appetizers. I would not say Kungfu Ramen is a replacement for some of the beloved hand drawn noodle places that have come before it, but it is still solid enough for us to give it another chance.

This was the place we saw when we were looking for a restaurant that had noodles. We came here for dinner around 7:15pm. The parking lot was dark but had enough parking spaces. We were seated immediately and looked at the menu in the low lighting. A lot of things on the menu sounded good to us. We ordered the Steamed Pork Buns ($9.99), Steamed Dumplings ($8.99), Pot Stickers ($8.99), Braised Beef Noodle Soup with hand-pulled wide noodles ($10.99), and the Spicy Noodle Soup ($10.99). The Steamed Pork Buns were delicious, the Steamed Dumplings were good, the Pot Stickers was good, the Braised Beef Noodle Soup with hand-pulled wide noodles was delicious, and the Spicy Noodle Soup was not bad. I especially liked the Steamed Pork Buns and the hand-pulled wide noodles from the Braised Beef Noodle Soup. The flavor of the broth was good and strong to me. I would recommend all of those if you don't know what to order. Good food here and I will be back in the future.

Unassuming Chinese restaurant in Tempe. If you're actually looking for Japanese ramen, this isn't the place. This is more Chinese noodle soup. The staff is helpful and extremely nice. They are understaff, but who isn't during these times. We order the soup dumplings (xiao long bun), char siu buns, and sauce noodles with lamb. The soup dumplings were delicious and had a good amount of soup inside. They are hot so be careful putting the whole thing in your mouth so soon. The char siu buns were warm and fluffy. Not sure if those are home made or not. Nonetheless, a must order. The sauce noodles is a tomato base sauce. It's drenched in sauce and comes with bell peppers, zucchini, onion, tomato chunks, and of course your choice of noodles. I do recommend trying this place if you're looking for Chinese take-out/experience. ENJOY!

    Signature Beef Noodle Soup

Ok, so just ignore the name. It has nothing to do with Kung Fu or ramen, it's just amazing traditional Chinese dishes and hand drawn noodles (like my much-missed Nahn Zhou Hand Drawn Noodle House). I had the beef signature soup and it was outstanding: beef was unctuous, well cooked, and delicious. The broth was excellent and the veggies tatsy! Wife has xiaong ling bao (soup dumplings) and declared them almost as good as Chou's Kitchen.

    Pan 6 Pan-fried Pork Buns, $9.99
    Stephanie L.

Kung Fu Ramen is a misnomer as they do not serve ramen; they serve hand pulled noodles. Miscommunication error or whatever gets you through the door, right? After feeling sick I decided it would be an appropriate time to order soup. We were able to order easily via their website which has pictures for all of the items. 6 Pan fried pork buns, $9.99: A bit doughier than I expected, with the dough-to-meat ratio slightly skewed. Otherwise a solid bun. House noodle soup, $11.99: The soup was packaged separately from the noodle bowl which was a nice touch. The tomatoes and broccoli seemed like mismatched vegetables with the choy. The noodles were good although tbh I wouldn't know the difference between hand pulled noodles and packaged noodles (the shame lol). The soup included beef, beef brisket, and beef tendon. The beef was very tender and fell apart. The soup was good as well, not overly salty. Mongolian beef stir fry, $10.99: Lacked wok hay but a good, above average stir fry. Bf enjoyed and it reheated well the next day.

We came here for lunch before our theatre matinee show on this side of town. It was highly recommended by many so we wanted to check it out. It's in a typical street mall and a pretty basic restaurant inside. The staff was very attentive and greeted us right away. We ordered the BBQ pork buns and scallion pancakes. We both had the house noodles with braised beef brisket. I was also looking at the soup dumplings but decided not to order since it would have been too much food for us. The appetizers were perfect. The pork buns were sizable and the breading was fluffy. I loved the fresh scallion pancakes. We scarfed those down. We really loved the fresh hand-pulled noodles. I love that you can choose which thickness of noodle you want. The broth was full of flavor. The portion of soup was huge and we both took half home. We could have easily shared a bowl for the two of us considering we had appetizers. I am a spice wimp so be sure to ask about the heat in the dishes. I didn't realize there was any spice for my noodle dish until it came out, but I was able to tolerate the heat level. Overall, we enjoyed this restaurant and will def come back when we are in the Tempe area.

When we walked in it had a very fishy smell, so it kind of made us second guess our choice. But we went for it anyhow. The greeter/server was very pleasant and sat us. It was very clean inside with ample space between seat. We browsed through the menu and started with our usual edamame and pot stickers. The edamame was salted well throughout where a lot of places just put the salt on top only. We ordered a couple varieties of sake which were both good. Out of all of the things we ordered the karange skewer was just a little more oily than were use to, but still good. The spicy salmon roll had really great flavor and the lollipop roll was probably one of the better versions that we have had. The musubi was giant to say the least, it was good, but offered a bit too much rice. Overall the food and service was great and we were very happy that we ended up here!

On a Sunday evening, after checking out the Desert Botanical Garden, I was looking for some food in…read morethe area. I came across Zu Izakaya and it's great reviews as one of the options. I love Japanese food so my decision was made. I drove over and parked in their complimentary lot. Ambiance (3.5/5): I've been to Japan and there are plenty of izakayas there. Think of them as small bars which often serve solid food. Zu fits that bit. It's a relatively small restaurant, probably seats about 30 people. and it's pretty no frills for a Japanese spot. I was seated at a booth in the corner of the restaurant. They have free WiFi which is always a good touch. Service (3/5): Service was friendly, though a bit inconsistent. My waitress wasn't as attentive as I would have liked. The type of service where you have to flag them down to get what you want and to close out. Drinks (4/5): Zu has a nice menu of Japanese and Korean beverages, including sake, soju, Japanese beer, and more. With that being said, I just had an iced green tea. Food (4/5): I got a nice variety. I went with the Japanese sausage off of the grill menu, the OBI mayo roll off of the sushi menu, and the cheese corn off of the appetizer menu. Let's start with the sausage. It's a small item, two small sausages, but absolutely delicious. The sausage was bursting with flavor and basted in a sweet sauce. Minus the portion size, perfection. The cheese corn also hit the spot, but the execution was off. The corn is served on a hot platter, and unfortunately some of the corn on the edges was badly burnt. The type of situation where they should start over. Which they didn't. Lastly, the OBI mayo roll is essentially a California roll with marinated warm shrimp on top in a mayo sauce. I didn't love the hot and cold combo (shrimp and sushi), but outside of the temperature, it was a delicious roll. All in all, a very food meal. My only gripe with Japanese food is that it can get expensive quick. Given that Zu is in Tempe, I was hoping that prices would be a little cheaper. With that being said, they do have a solid happy hour (and reverse happy hour) with both food and drink specials. Next time I stop by, I'd like to check out some of their Korean options. I focused on the Japanese stuff this time (which makes the majority of the menu). Next time around, the bulgogi is calling my name!

I loved that the sake came in a clear tokkuri. The ramen was soo delicious. I added some chili oil to my broth to give it some spice. Upon entering, we were free to seat ourselves and chose a booth by the wall. It was not busy at all and the service was quick and friendly. We started off with a large sake bomb paired with a Kirin Light ($15). We then ordered two Tonkotsu Ramens, one medium spice and one hot spice ($15.99 each). Honestly, the hot spice level did not taste spicy at all, so I would recommend going extra hot if you like spice. They also provide chili powder on the table if you want to add more spice yourself. The ramen broth itself could have used a tad more flavor. I lightly added some soy sauce to the broth which is something I often do to add a little kick. I loved all of the toppings included, from the green onions to the kikurage (wood ear mushroom). My favorite part was the pork chashu, which was really tender and delicious. I also appreciated that the ramen came with a full soft boiled egg rather than half an egg, and the egg was perfectly runny. Before leaving, we ordered their tea special that was buy one get one. We got a matcha milk tea and a cafe latte which I forgot to take a photo of. I felt like the cafe latte could have used a little more sweetness to balance it. Also, I found it neat that Nishikawa offers a rewards program, not something I see often at ramen shops. My true rating would be 4.5 due to some of the criticisms I mentioned above, but overall I still had a good experience. Thank you for serving us. Visited 5/2/26

I had about a minute to look at the menu before the waitress came back and asked what I wanted. I ordered the small portion of the chicken karaage appetizer and the Nishikawa Black Ramen. Both items came out at about the same time. The chicken was good and there was a lot which somewhat surprised me because I thought they had given me a large portion by mistake. The only downside was that the plate was really small so the chicken kept tumbling onto the table. The ramen was just ok. It came in a really big bowl and there was a lot of broth and toppings but relatively little noodles in comparison. It was more like a bowl of soup. The slice of pork was huge but a little bit chewy when I was expecting it to be tender. The egg wasn't sliced so it was difficult to pick up the entire piece with my chopsticks. The chicken was $7 and the ramen was $18. I would have been ok just getting the chicken, perhaps a large portion for $12. I wouldn't get this particular ramen again. With tax and a tip my total was a little over $31 which isn't the most I've spent at a ramen restaurant, but it wasn't cheap either. I wasn't offered a refill on my drink until after I had paid and was ready to leave. In fact, I only saw the waitress once after my food was brought out, and that was when she brought me the bill. The rest of the time she was somewhere in the kitchen.
