We came to this area for business and tried it for lunch. Let's just say that we are trying to decide how often we want to drive over two hours for more! This was the best Thai food I have had!!! The steamed dumplings were amazing and the Pad Thai was..... so fresh and delicious!! Stop in and order anything. You won't be disappointed! The restaurant itself has a relaxing vibe. This new restaurant is a gem in Smithfield, NC. I am excited to have a backup Thai restaurant when I do not feel like driving to my favorite spot in Durham, NC. I enjoyed the Shrimp Thai fried rice. I will return again in a few days, and bring a guest with me. The restaurant is small, but it is clean and cozy. There is also a full bar inside. I've been to this restaurant twice and got the Drunken Noodles with chicken ordered very spicy twice now and I don't know if I'll ever be able to order anything different even though I really want too! I didn't really know what to expect for a Thai restaurant in Smithfield, and this place excelled in blowing me away. My wife was iffy before we entered, but the food won her over. I made the mistake of by having the wonderful Drunken Noodles w/beef, which was very tasty at hot, but now we have to go back so I can have the duck. My wife had the cashew curry with beef which she really enjoyed. And for dessert we split a mango and sticky rice, which I haven't had for over 20 years. Food and service was good, tasty. Prices are ridiculous. I got green curry with chicken. I had 5 bites of chicken in the entire bowl. The portions are minimal. The $17 drink my husband ordered was the size of 2 shots in a tiny glass. If I have to spend over $100 on dinner for two, it's nice to bring some food home. That wasn't the case here. The Thai dishes at Sushi Iwa are just as good and close to double in portion size. Even better, is Curry Corner in Smithfield. So reasonable, and outstanding curry!! They treat you like royalty. Everyone wants a nice night out taking a break from cooking, but it doesn't have to cost this much, you do have options close by. Go to Curry Corner instead! read more

Was in the area and ordered a take out. We ordered Pad See Ew, Pineapple fried rice, drunken noodles, origin salad, beef jerky and the dumplings. The Thai hot was really hit the point, so yumm. The curry in the pineapple fried rice was quite dominant, we prefer mild. The peanut dressings for the salad was delicious. The size of their dumplings were smaller compared to other Thai place. But overall we enjoyed everything! We'll be back whenever we're visiting. read more

This is another great addition to Johnston County restaurants! We both had curry, and it was delicious! We split the papaya salad, which was so delicious as well. The service was very friendly and conscientiously pleasing. We had been there before when it was a different restaurant, and it is the perfect space for a Thai restaurant. We drove 45 minutes to this place, and it was well worth the trip! This was the most delicious Thai food I have had in YEARS! The restaurant is very cozy and well decorated. The staff were all friendly and just the right amount of attentive - they tended our every need without hovering. Wonderful! I'd never tried Larb before, so we ordered that and the Gyoza as appetizers. They ask you to choose your spice level for each dish. We chose medium, which was too spicy for me, but perfect for my husband. Even so, I kept eating it, because it was so flavorful! The Gyoza were so fresh from the fryer that we had to wait for them to cool a bit before eating. They were definitely made in house - nothing tasted like it came out of a freezer here! I ordered the Pad Thai for myself. (Always my first choice when trying a new Thai restaurant. You'd be surprised how many places manage to screw up this classic dish.) After seeing my reaction to the larb, they made it a little less spicy, but still spicy enough to be exciting! I ordered the Pad Kee Mao for my husband, and he went with the full spice level. He wolfed his down before grabbing a few bites off of my plate! LOL Because everything we tried was so amazing, and we don't know when we'll be able to drive that far for dinner again, we ordered takeout for lunch tomorrow. Red Curry, Tom Kha Gai, and Tom Yum. I also requested a sample of their peanut sauce, because it's always interesting to see how each restaurant makes that. I look forward to trying each dish tomorrow! New favorite restaurant in Smithfield! We have been twice since they opened a few weeks ago. The staff are incredibly friendly and lovely to talk with. My husband order the basil fried rice with beef both visits. He says it's the best dish he has had at any Thai restaurant. I've tried the Pad Thai and the Drunken Noodles, love them both. I can't wait to try the rest of the menu, as I'm sure we will be frequent patrons. Love that this has opened in Smithfield! read more

This spot is amazing!!! Enjoyed dinner on Friday night. We got there close to 5:30 and they had a steady crowd. They are a bit small on the inside, max occupancy is 49. The bar is large, so ample sitting there. They have a simple menu, but the dishes are terrific! We ordered the Jerky (Beef) for the appetizer, Sesame Chicken and Drunken Noodles (w/ Shrimp). The flavor is out of this world!!! You can order a spice level on your dish to bump the flavor up a notch and for me, the mild was a bit spicy, but not bad. The staff is some of the nicest and friendliest people you will ever meet. They are very attentive and will answer any questions you may have. The prices are on point and honestly, we left enjoying what we just ate. I'm excited to go back and try other dishes and cant wait to see what the future holds for this spot. They are definitely going to do well, especially with the local crowd. read more

The service was great, the location was nice. Excellent attentive service. The food was small, expensive portions of Chinese carryout. Having visited Thailand several times, the food was not Thai. It was oily, Americanized Chinese food at best??? General Tao's chicken and cashews on the menu??? All the appetizers were Chinese. I'm not writing the review to be a Karen, but I would have wanted to know that this was not Thai food. No traditional Thai spices, where was the galangal, lemongrass, Makrut lime leaves, bird's eye chiles, and garlic. What about turmeric, coriander seeds, cumin, and white peppercorns??? Our car broke down on the way to New York, so we're here enjoying Smithfield for the day. Instead of the usual bland chain restaurants, we came upon Origin Thai right near our hotel. We were sooooo surpirised how good the place is. The signature drinks were excellent, We tried the shrimp and pork dumplings as an app, and it was 10/10. The drunken noodles with shrimp were also very good. In summary, this is an excellent little place, and you should try it. read more

So happy that this place opened. My husband and I both got the chicken pad Thai. I will say, the medium is more like a mild. The mild reallyyyy mild. So if you're on the edge, I'd bump up to medium. Super good though. They didn't add any annoying fillers like broccoli or zucchini like some competitors do. I'll be back many times. read more

They offer several varieties of fried rice, classic asian, as well as traditional Thai dishes. The Sesame Chicken, was the nastiest Oriental food I have ever tasted in my 54 years on this planet( after 1 piece I threw it away). The Spring Rolls where Raw and the Dumplings were ok but both were small in size. The white rice you get with your Meal where half filled Small Boxes. For the price you would expect Decent food and decent portions.... I will never order from this place again . and i will recommend all my friends and family to stay away unless they just want to waste Money . Heading up I95 and stopped in Smithfield NC to discover a real treat. Origin Thai was outstanding.
