Been a long time customer of this very unique bar. A bar that consistently serves great food at very reasonable prices. They are only opened four days a week. Very much a biker/dive bar with excellent food. Filled up quickly at luck with a wide variety of people. Service highly understaffed. Only the bartender/server out front---but she was hustling her butt off and very attentive when she got to us. I have visited Heidi's three times now and gotten three different entrees. Each time, the food has been hot, not just warm! Amazing place. Came here with my wife Saturday afternoon. She was prego so walking in there was a strong smoke smell, that she couldn't stand. But after your inside it was fine. We came here thinking it was a restaurant/bar. But like we found out once inside. It's a bar with a top notch restaurant inside. Food did not disappoint, waitress was excellent. Lunch at a biker bar? Yes please! This is one of the reasons I love Yelp. In the pre-Yelp days, we never would have ventured 3.2 miles from the exit off 95, through a town that has seen better days. And had we actually wandered down this way, we wouldn't have stopped just by passing it. SO glad we did! Seriously, stop here. The food is worth it. The menu is standard bar fare with some creative twists. I started with a wedge salad (always thrilled to see one on a menu) and was not disappointed. Super fresh ingredients covered with a blue cheese dressing (it's got to be homemade - lots of big chunks of blue cheese) and a drizzle of balsamic glaze. Absolutely yummy! Hubby had a BLT with cheese on pretzel bread (I forget the cute name on the menu), which he throughly enjoyed. It comes standard with extra bacon - who doesn't love that? He would have preferred it on Texas toast, but the pretzel roll was an interesting twist. My bacon cheeseburger was huge, with a decent amount of bacon. It was well done (I forgot to order it mid-rare like I usually do, so that's on me, thus I'm not sure if they'd cook it that way upon request or not) but was still juicy. We both subbed out the fries for the pub chips and OMG were they good! Obviously made fresh and the ranch they serve them with is to die for. I could have sat there all day eating them! This is definitely worth the stop if you are anywhere in the area. We plan to return again when our travels take us out this way. read more

Eek. This place is not a winner. It's authentic, if your looking for a hillbilly dive bar serving overpriced seafood that hasn't seen the sea in awhile. I ate here when I was passing through on the way to a meeting in New Bern. O was early and thought I'd make a long lunch of it. I wish I had been running late.... The only thing that was nice was no one was smoking. When I walked in I thought, oh crap, I bet someone's going to start smoking. Food was bland and unmemorable. This is a hidden gem as far as the food and the service. All 6 of our orders were delicious and made very well. The waitress was friendly and attentive. She anticipated our needs on multiple occasions. It is not the most family friendly atmosphere as it feels like a biker bar than a restaurant. However that is the ONLY thing I would have changed. Stopped in to Heidi's with some co-workers the other day for dinner. They say not to judge a book by it's cover, well I'm glad i didn't. The outside reminds me of any dive bar I've ever been too. It is a seat yourself place, with plenty of seating. There is 1 sometimes 2 waitresses to work the entire room, and they do an amazing job! Very attentive, personable and happy. I was told that ALL the food is cooked by one Chef in the back (Heidi?) so the food service can be a little slow, but as others mentioned, that's ok because the quality of the food is outstanding. Fried pickles as an appetizer and quesadilla for dinner really hit the spot. One co-worker ordered the pork medallions and he said they were the best ever (he's been here a few times). I've been to Heidi's a few times and am quickly becoming a fan! As the name implies, they cater to folks with motorcycles. Drive by on a pretty weekend day and you'll find the lot packed with bikes. Located in an older building, with a killer patio, it has a neighborhood tavern kind of feel. As they cater to bikers, you'll see plenty of leather, tank tops and tats but, that's just the beginning of their clientele. It really is a pretty mixed group from bikers, to neighbors to business people stopping for an after-work beer, The beer list is primarily domestics. They have a decent selection of bottled beer and four or five drafts including Bass and hard cider. They also have a full bar but, this is definitely a beer kinda place. The food is where they really shine. For an unassuming place, the kitchen staff puts out some really good food. Burgers are thick and juicy. They have good onion rings and excellent, crispy wings. I had the Jamaican jerk sauce on my last visit and it was very good. Just the right mix of sweet and hot. Don't think that all you're going to get is fried bar food. For a small place, they have a pretty diverse menu. The crowd keeps the steamer busy ordering shrimp and oysters. I've not tried any yet but, at the rate that they come sailing out of the tiny kitchen to the regulars tables, they must be pretty good. The staff is helpful and friendly but can be overwhelmed at times. I am giving them five stars not, because this is a fine dining place but because the food is so much better than I would expect in a dive bar/tavern. read more

Actually found this place because of yelp. Had lunch there today and it was great..!! Prices are very reasonable and you truly do get a belly full of food for the money. Yes, it's a bar/restaurant atmosphere but who cares? If it's not for you, then don't go. You'll be missing out though. Mix of all types of people there with everyone being treated the same way by the staff. Truly is a great bikers connection no doubt during good weather but even today, the day after Thanksgiving, it was almost packed with customers.
