Everything about this place is just wonderful. It was my first time at Origina, and Autumn magically transformed my hair into exactly what I was looking for. She was so nice to talk with, professional, and also worked quickly so I wasn't in the chair for 4+ hours. Their wash bowls are the most comfortable bowls to sit at and they don't strain your neck like other salons. Thank you for that! Prices are on point with the rest of Nashville, but here at least you get what you pay for. My hair has never been softer or more healthy looking walking out of a salon, with the perfect tone and blend from my roots to the highlights. Found my person... check them out for sure! read more

I would give zero stars if I could. I have been a loyal customer at Origina for over 10 years. I got the time wrong for my Brazilian blowout appointment today and was charged the full price for the service. I am a working mom and was at the doctor's office with my sick 18 month old. She had an ear infection and a burst ear drum, but did any of that matter to Origina? No. Because I missed my appointment, I was charged the full $276 for the service WITHOUT a courtesy call or text to let me know I was running late. If I had gotten a call or text letting me know I was late for my appointment, I would have driven right over. No, that did not happen. Instead, I was texted 50 minutes after my missed appointment that I was charged $276 for a service I never received. What about a reminder text, so I could have a heads up that I had my appointment time wrong? I got a text on Monday confirming my appointment for Friday, without telling me the time. I confirmed it, because obviously I thought I had my appointment time correct. When I called (in shock) the employee (her name was Bailey) on the phone was incredibly rude. She had zero empathy or customer service skills at all. When I said I thought my appointment was at 3, she said "how could it be at 3, we close at 5." How am I supposed to know that?! Every single business I frequent that takes appointments (doctors, chiropractors, hair, nail salons) sends a call, text or email reminder with an appointment time. It is not too much to ask for. Origina, you are in the business of appointments. Call and text your clients reminding them of their appointment time. Also, your customer service is abysmal. I have never been treated so rudely. I have been getting Brazilian Blowouts at Origina for as long as I can remember. Your policy to charge clients the full price for a missed appointment without sending an appointment reminder with the time or calling to ask where they are is a horrible policy. I had purchased a groupon for the Balayage, deep conditioning, and hair cut (I think it was around $80) . After reading some negative reviews, I was scared to use the Groupon because I assumed I wouldn't be treated well or that they would mess up my hair. Groupon would not let me return the purchase, so after debating for a few weeks, I decided to call and book an appointment. Origina was able to schedule me with Shelby the following day. Shelby and the owner (I'm not sure her name) were super nice and welcoming. Without showing Shelby a picture, she understood the look I was going for. Side note: this is my 3rd or 4th time getting my hair lightened over the last two years. I have been wanting a cooler/whiter blonde on the ends vs a yellowish blonde, but was not able to achieve it until this visit. See the photos I posted. I was super happy with my service, and still love my hair the day after as well! :) I already booked a follow up appointment in a few months to get another trim and potentially another round of toner with Shelby. read more

I called this business a couple of days ago and was so put off by the woman who answered the phone. She was so rude and unhelpful. I had some questions about their services. I was confused when I said the pricing and services were different online and she very unapologetically told me the website hadn't been updated in "forever." Then she just sat there on the phone. Didn't ask me if I had any more questions or if she could help me with something else, nothing like that. Zero customer service. Quite the opposite. Just rude. March 2019: Shelby was fantastic. I was late to my appt but she didn't hold a grudge. I had a balayage on my long hair, natural hair is brown/black, and she took it down to a honey/Carmel color in about an hour and a half. She also went through and took the time to look through each section to make sure there were no hard lines and the color was even. My bangs came out lighter and she mixed a darker toner to blend it better. Defn going back in a couple months to add pirple Update: end of June 2019 Came in for the purple highlights. We had decided on doing a partial, and add some purple (see the goal picture, that's what was agreed up on that would work). Shelby was great, made sure to have coverage on all the bleached strands of hair. We decided on only having the purple in the same areas of the balayage, so that the purple highlights are NOT going from root to end. From what I could see, it does look like it goes root to end. I've washed my hair twice since then, both times with cold water (that's not a fun shower). I use the matrix for color shampoo, and I condition with an Aragon oil blend mix. I've got an appointment to remove the color next week. Shelby had said "if you think you need more color, I'll do it, free of charge, it's better to have less color because we can always add more, but it's hard to remove color if we do too much". This is a great philosophy, makes sense to me. My bad review part come in the actual color itself. It's blue, not purple. It's dark, and even with my cold shower, I think it's bleeding into my honey color because my hair is darker now. Pictures are of the "purple" color. With my goal picture also, you can see a HUGE difference. Update will come next week after new appt...... Update: 6/3/19 4stars!! Shelby is awesome. In and out in an hour-ish. When I lived in Cleveland, OH, I was a frequent visitor of Ladies and Gentlemen which is an Aveda Salon. I absolutely loved my experience and never care to paid a little more for the service. I went to Orgina this week. I was checked in then left in the lobby for 15 minutes alone. My stylist came out and got me. She asked me what I wanted to do with my hair. We talked about it came up with a plan. Then she said do you just want me to cut your hair dry. You'll get out of here quicker. I was like, no I come I get my haircut because I love getting my hair washed. There was no stress relieving scalp massage. Thankfully, I had a coupon and I didn't pay full price. DO NOT go here if you are looking to have your hair colored. My mother went here to have her color redone, and she had a terrible experience. I wish I had been with her because had that been the case I would have recommend she not pay for what she received. She asked for dark blonde light brown color and the color she got was DARK brown. After telling the stylist the color was much darker than she wanted the stylist suggested that she come back in a few weeks for highlights. This made my mother feel like she was given a purposely dark color so that she would have to come back and pay more money to have it corrected. Apart from the horrible color she asked for the dye to be cleaned off of her forehead and they wouldn't do it. This is not the place to go. $190 dollars for terrible color and bad service is not acceptable. Save yourself the time and money. read more

Like many, I purchased a Groupon to get a reduced rate massage from Origina Salon. Walking in, this place really looked classy (an Aveda salon) and I figured I'd be experiencing something quite serene. Needless to say, that didn't quite happen. My massage was ok. Thank goodness I wasn't paying the full $80 fee. Yikes!! That's a higher priced massage in the first place, and for a just less than an hour, less than stellar rub down? She wasn't a bad person.. I'm just sorry to say I won't be returning. The massage was followed by a complimentary shampoo and blow dry. It was a nice gesture. The results.. they were just ok too! And the woman doing it made a comment to another employee about how she was stuck there.. Sorry I contributed to the entrapment! Let's start this review by saying that I'm a professional hair and makeup artist for photo shoots. I don't work at this salon, but that does make me a very picky client. I've been coming here for a little over half a year now. I used to go to a salon called Lucy Pop Salon, but found myself trying this place out because my friend Abbey is the manager and my friend Danae does hair here. Now, I find myself driving 45mins out of the way every month just to come here because I don't trust anyone else with my blonde other than Danae. Girls, if you're blonde you are going to appreciate this. Danae gets it. She's picky like me and used to be blonde and will bend over backwards to get the exact blonde you want. I have never been so happy with my blonde! So happy that I've sent about 20 clients here and they all have been equally as excited about their hair. She does other colors too obviously and specializes in extensions. Not to mention that I really really appreciate the price point here. When I was going to Lucy Pop my bill was around $150 on a good day just for all over highlights. Now, my bill is usually around $120 or lower. That's $30 I can spend on a pedicure! hello! I had the same experience as another who reviewed this business - I had purchased a Groupon for a massage. I had first tried to schedule an appointment in August 2010, but they were making appointments nearly 2 months out. I had to wait a month and a half as it was when I made the appointment a year after I purchased the Groupon. Clearly, they did a very poor job of estimating their ability to meet the demand generated by the Groupon. Another reviewer was given a complimentary shampoo and blow dry (probably to compensate for the trouble with the Groupon), but I was not offered this service. I arrived for my appointment exactly on time, but did not get to the room until 10 minutes later (I wasn't able to make it 15 minutes before my appointment time -as they recommend on their website - due to another commitment and I'm glad I didn't!). The appointment before me left shortly after I arrived, so I know the massage therapist wasn't ready for me at my appointment time. The massage was supposed to be one hour, yet I was in my car 58 minutes after getting to the room before I even got undressed. The massage itself was relaxing, but not one of the best I've ever had and not worth the full price of $80. I will not return to this spa and I wouldn't recommend it to a friend. read more

I got my hair cut and colored yesterday and I found my services to be satisfactory. I think Karlie cut my hair and to be quite honest, she was pleasant and did a really great cut and color. When I came in they brought me some tea and magazines, seeing I was a little disabled at the time. It was really nice of them to help me out like that. Now I have longer hair so it took about 2 hours to get 3 inches off my hair plus a partial highlight. The shampoo was really nice and the hand massage was great as well. They are a little pricey, my whole git up was around $129. I have to say, I will be going back unless I have a friend that says otherwise. read more

I've been to this salon 3 times now. Once for a massage (I had a Groupon) which was pretty good and twice for a cut/color/conditioning treatment/style. I had a Groupon for the first hair appointment and loved the stylist they set me up with so much I made another appointment with her. During my first appointment, she actually cut bangs into my hair. I was absolutely terrified (super long hair and have never had bangs) but she did an amazing job!! Both times I've walked out of there feeling like a million bucks. For an Aveda salon, it's very affordable. These 2 coloring appointments were the first time I've ever used Aveda color and it's amazing.... Seems to last and stay vibrant a couple weeks longer than other coloring. I'm already looking forward to my next appointment in a couple weeks! read more

This was a horrible experience! I would give them a much lower rating, but a 1 is the lowest available. They recently moved to a smaller space and I can see why. While there were 10 spots available for stylists, there were only 3 or 4 working the last time I went in. The turnover seems very, very high. So their answer is to raise prices, but they don't tell you. And if you happen to ask what makes up the almost $262 charge for a color and cut when you go to check out, it will take them 15 minutes to figure it out and give you the stylist's price sheet you asked for all the while acting like it is unreasonable on your part to ask for the breakdown. Even though you smile politely and book future appointments, the owner, Jackie, will call a few days later, chew you out for asking for a breakdown of the prices, refuse to let you say anything and then hang up on you. Seriously? Are you kidding me?? To be clear, I'm not upset about the new prices they charge, I'm upset about their complete lack of customer service professionalism. I had been here years ago but hadn't been back in a while, just trying different salons around town. A great groupon deal enticed me to go back and I had a wonderful experience with my stylist Tabby. I had pretty long and thick hair that I had recently had balayage done on, I desperately needed a cut but was apprehensive to cut all my new color off. She could have easily sold me more color but she suggested alternative options instead, which I was really impressed with and she was able to cut it in a way that I still had a lot of my color left. Really happy with my new look! I also liked that the salon wasn't snooty or pretentious at all. Only suggestion is to maybe beef up the ambiance a little. read more

I've been a client of this salon for over 4 years. I've been through 3 stylists now since I've been there because mine keep leaving. I'm leaving this review, not because of the turnover. But because of how I was treated the last few times I was there. I'm a brunette that is blonde, so my hair is no easy task to color and especially so it looks somewhat natural. I've paid this salon over 10k of my money for the last 4 years! Recently, my stylist left and we had developed a pretty good formula. Not perfect, but pretty good. My new stylist had new ideas on how to better maintain my hair/color and I'm all for trying new ideas. Well, my hair started to turn a very brassy, orange color. The last time I went in, we discussed that I was unhappy with the direction of how things were going and it was too orange, too brassy. Then guess what... same result. This time I went back the following day to have it fixed, and was greeted by the owner who stood in the lobby questioning me, calling my hair "Jessica Simpson hair", and saying to me how the process that my stylist was using before was incorrect, and then discussing what we'd need to do when I started turning grey. What?! My new stylist joined her and they discussed what to do... in the lobby, in front of everyone. I felt like I was being investigated on a stage. We went to the chair and I again mentioned that I'm not sure what's happening, but this wasn't an issue before. I was then told that my stylist before was doing it wrong and they're trying to fix it. Okay? On top of it, my new stylist didn't speak to me the entire time she had to redo my hair....which still looked too orange when she finished. I ended up going to another salon to get it fixed and they were able to easily fix it in one visit. There was no apology, there was no sorry this is inconvenient for you while we get this figured out. It just didn't feel great at all... it felt very uncomfortable and honestly accusatory, and it didn't have to be that way. Here's the thing. That stylist "doing it wrong" kept me there. Had this been handled discreetly and professionally, or had someone (maybe the owner, instead of questioning me in a lobby full of people) once just sat me down and said... okay, tell us exactly where you see we're getting off track here and let's fix this, I see you've been back every 2 weeks for the past 6 weeks, I'd be just fine. I'm not a drama queen and I get that my hair color can be challenging. What I don't appreciate is being made to feel like I'm not the long standing client who has tolerated 3 new stylists and has remained loyal throughout this. I don't appreciate being made to feel bad or an inconvenience when this is not going well. To top it all off, I'd forgotten that I scheduled another appointment. They called me yesterday to confirm and I told the girl, I'm sorry, I won't be back after my last visit. The girl was like "Okay, I'll go ahead and cancel your appointment. Thanks!" Anna cut my hair today and a did a wonderful job. I asked her to cut two and a half inches off and she did just that! Not more or less than what I asked for. No no no - felt like I was in an assembly line - stylist did not respect my wishes nor listen to me at all - loves to hear herself talk more - and the way she was banging my head I swore I would pass out now - what seemed like 3 minutes of care - was told to stay in back bc my color was not allowed up front which totally stinks bc I was going to think about looking at products to purchase - guess they don't want my money -- stuck on one spot with my aching back fir 45 minutes - I get each salon is different but I have yet to have a moment of her time to tell her I need cushion when she washes me bc I live with a broken neck from a car accident hopefully someone hears me and I don't Start crying - I have been watching other stylists while here to see if someone else may be a better fit for me but Jackie clearly is not ,,, blessed be He leads me to my permanent stylist - here's hoping ! read more

Eh- wouldn't go back unfortunately. I bought a Groupon for the Brazilian Blowout and felt as though I was being rushed out as quickly as possible. Frustrating, especially because when I researched the process online, it seemed as though people had many mixed reviews, and the main theme was that it depended on the stylist doing the blowout. My stylist was very young and nice, but as soon as I sat down, she said the process usually takes at least 2 hours, she could do it in 1. And she did... and needless to say, it didn't 'take' at all- and unfortunately I spent $90 +$15 or 20 tip + buying the shampoo I was told I had to have, over all spending over $150... for no difference at all. I'm a huge Aveda fan and decided to give Origina a try because 1) they have after work hours, and 2) it's near my office. I called and said I was new. The receptionist asked what price range I wanted to pay for a haircut. I said $40-ish. Unfortunately they were all taken, so I made an appointment with a girl who was new and charging only $25 per haircut. Hey, she has to start somewhere! And I have long boring hair. It's not hard. If I wasn't disgusted by Great Clips then I'd go there as I'm sure anyone can cut my hair. I usually choose Aveda because I like the experience and the ambiance. Both of which I give a failing grade at this salon. The receptionist greeted me promptly but she forgot who I was and had to ask again when my stylist came out to find me. The stylist was painfully new. When washing my hair - somewhat clumsily and aggressively - she mentioned she'd never even heard of Sap Moss Shampoo and Conditioner! What?!?!? It's only the best Aveda has ever offered. I'm actually surprised Aveda didn't educate her on the history of the company. She also didn't give me the Aveda experience, which the Aveda website says this salon does. Each Aveda salon is different, but this could be a chair massage, quick facial, hand massage, etc, all complimentary. But I got nothing. The chair setup is funky - you cannot walk straight to the stylist's chair if it's not on the aisle - you have to walk sideways to kind of side step to get the chairs near the window. In the end, she did cut my hair just fine, but as I mentioned anybody can cut my hair just fine. I also intended to buy new shampoo and conditioner while there, but their stock had been wiped clean. They hardly had anything available. They assured me they were getting shipment the next day and I should stop back in. I gave in and picked up the only matching shampoo and conditioner they had on the shelf. I will most likely not be back to experience nails or a massage. I'm disappointed and think Aveda should take their name off this salon. read more

This was the worst customer service experience I have ever had. I was new to the area and trying to find a new salon. A friend referred me to a particular stylist who was young, but very nice. She seemed to be a little confused about what I wanted and asked a "Master" stylist. This person however was unbelievably rude. She kept stabbing me in the head with hairpins in her attempt to explain to the young lady what to do. She repeatedly told me what I needed to do with MY HAIR. I had told the young lady to cut it to a particular length and the "Master" stylist" said NO, don't cut it any shorter than "this" which was much longer than I requested. EXCUSE ME! If I request a particular length you do not get to say no...! I complained to my stylist and thought it was odd that she was silent and never even said she was sorry that the woman's treatent had disturbed me. I text my friend, and she stated that he woman in question "Master" stylist, was the owner and that she did not care for her either and would never allow her to do her hair. Well I mean what are you going to do about that? I asked the young lady if she was indeed the owner and she said yes and then very angrily said "and she is my aunt". Well just great, now somehow I have to feel guilty, because this young woman's aunt was rude, unprofessional, and lacked any customer service skills. By the time it was over it was probably the worst hair cut I ever had. It needed the layers I asked for and was told I "couldn't" have, it needed to be thinned out, but again I was told I "couldn't" have that either. I was in tears by the time it was over, and just wanted to be out of there. The young lady asked me what I thought and I told her I thought it was terrible, she offered to cut it again, but said it would take 45 minutes. SERIOUSLY? It didn't have to be rewashed just cut a couple more inches off! I told her no thank you, that I just wanted her to please finish so I could get out of there. Sadly I think this young woman never needed the intervention of her Aunt to do a good job, I think she was probably very good, but likely beat down, by this horrible "Master" stylist, who hadn't even yet mastered how to do her own hair. As I tried to leave they stated that there would be no charge for the cut as I was visibly upset, however I insisted that I would pay. They stated that they could not except payment, but that I could leave gratuity, so I gave the young girl more than what her cut would have cost and walked out. This is an unfortunate incident that never had to escalate this far, and why nepitism in the work place is not always a good idea. This young lady was cost what would have been another long term client for her all, because she was unable to separate work from family in a customer service driven industry. If you cannot except that when you are there, she is not your aunt and you are not her niece, her behavior is going to ruin your chances of building a good client base. NEVER GOING BACK! read more

Paying full retail for a massage that a STUDENT masseuse at Massage Envy could have given was NOT what I expected from an Aveda salon. Overly-hard pressure when medium was requested, clumsy attempts at using elbow pressure over deltoids resulting in sudden, painful "slips" across tense muscles is NOT my idea of relaxation. I have visited this Aveda salon a few times now since I've moved to Franklin and Sherri does my cuts. I went to an Aveda salon in Orlando so the price is pretty on par for Aveda....pricey but you get what you pay for so I don't mind at all. Sherri is very personable, easy to hold a conversation with but doesn't try to talk your ear off. She is one of the more experienced stylists so you'll pay more for her than some other people but I completely trust her to make my cut look great and would recommend her to anyone. The Aveda experience overall is just so much better than anywhere else you go....better products, usually a shoulder massage to get you relaxed, really nice people and quality work. read more

I made a last errand run on Saturday, May 19th, to purchase my hair product. This is not my regular Aveda Salon and will never be!!! I check to see what time they closed that afternoon via google and it stated 4pm on a Saturday. I arrived at the salon at 3:35pm and THEY WERE CLOSED!!!!!!!!!! I went in yesterday for a Groupon appointment for a cut and condition treatment. Everyone I encountered was profesional, personable, and friendly! My first stylist was Jessie and she and I talked through my cut to make sure it was what I wanted - she was thorough making sure everything was even, etc. I added on a brow wax, too, which turned out great!! After 24 hours I decided I wanted a thicker bang cut and called in. They were able to get me in same day as the call so I went in with two kids in tow (which always makes me nervous!) and Jessie was busy with another client. Jackie was able to step in and thicken my bangs and fix the cut to match the new bangs - all done complimentary as a bang trim - with Jessie encouraging me nearby. I didn't feel like they were pushy on trying to sell product, they were judgey about my very ignored hair, and they listened to what I want. I will definitely be coming back. Thank you!! read more

I love it here! Everyone is so nice and my cut and color have never been better. I am so glad that I found this salon, they are wonderful!
