About 12 years ago, my coworkers and I discovered a gem of an Italian restaurant in Frackville. Our work spanned several weeks and I don't recall our having a meal anywhere else. We talked about our great meals at OIP for many years thereafter. Today, I had occasion to be passing Frackville along the I-81 corridor and decided to see whether, by chance, the restaurant was still there. To my good fortune, it was! The food was just as I remembered it, the owners absolutely pleasant and the overall experience nothing short of wonderful! It felt more like visiting family than dining at a restaurant! Although I've enjoyed pasta dishes at OIP in the past, today I tried something new - an eggplant sandwich, sans the tomato sauce. I was a bit leery at first, but the owner convinceed me that it was a unique departure from the traditional tomato sauce and that many of their customers liked it. I tried it, I loved it! Breaded/fried eggplant with melted cheese (provolone?), on a fresh baked roll, topped with lettuce, tomato, onion and Italian dressing. Mama mia! It was delicious. Their bread is all baked on premise and it sure tastes it! I could have feasted on the bread with butter alone! Just minutes off I-81, it is most definitely worth a visit. We were traveling from upstate NY back to MD and OIP was at about the 1/2 way point. The service was first rate! Very attentive and accommodating staff! My special needs son needed to have soup puréed which the cook was amenable to prepare. Their Marguerite thin crust pizza was delicious. The large sized pizza gave 4 adults ample portions! My family and I were excited to try this place based on the great reviews, but after trying the food and speaking personally to the manager we aren't sure where these good reviews are coming from. The chicken in the chicken blush was as hard as a rock, overcooked and had no seasoning whatsoever. The chicken in the cheesesteak was also old and chewy. We also got a chef salad for $12 and it was basically a box of lettuce. When we left a review on Google, the owner commented and said we can have our money back. My mother in law then called about this and was immediately screamed at by the man that owns this restaurant. He said he would only give us our money back if we took our review down and it was "people like us" that are "ruining this country." He wouldn't even let my MIL speak, continuing to scream at her before hanging up the phone. He then threatened to sue us for slander. I'm not sure what is going on that this man thinks it's okay to treat paying customers like this but I wouldn't waste your time or money here. So after posting my first review for this company. Still posted below. I received a very derogatory private message from the owner. Calling me, and I quote, "Yeah your a fucking douch bag of the first order you know who I am I will be waiting for you" So this is a threat to my personal well being. This should not be take lightly and yes I do believe local authorities should be notified. I'm not the first nor will I be the last to receive a threatening message from the owner. And something legal needs to be done. I did nothing to provoke this man other than use this social media app like he himself has done (patronizing others) I used this app to share with the world my feelings of his store and now I'm being threatened.. -I moved to the area a few years back. They never delivered all the order. When calling back. The guy answers the phone and says his delivery driver felt threatened because naked people are walking around. This is not true. My girlfriend answered the door in night clothes but fully covered. The guy hung up on me after threatening me with the sheriff and told me to never call them again. We have traveled the world for business and pleasure. We live near Baltimore and have eaten many times at the best Little Italy has to offer. Where is the best Italian food we have ever eaten? This small unassuming restaurant that probably makes its money on pizza, BUT please try it for an incredible dinner! We travel to Pennsylvania to husbands hometown twice a year and will never miss a chance to eat here. The Alfredo sauce is made fresh for every meal, hence taking a little time but WOW, I can't imagine better! The homemade Italian salad dressing superb, fresh homemade bread...everything fresh and great quality. Huge shrimps,well prepared veal...prepare to be amazed. Please don't be put off by the name! Rather than try and improve customer/client relations this establishment would prefer to try and bully its customers into writing false reviews or deleting them. In a small town that has hit very hard economic times, it is nice to find a little Italian restaurant that provides decent food at a decent price. There is a nice selection of dinners, pizza, cal zones, hot and cold sandwiches. Beer and wine are reasonably priced to boot! I had the lasagna and my bro-in-law the Cal zone, and a pizza for the others. It was all very tasty - and I'd order the lasagna and Cal zone in a heartbeat. I wouldn't order the side salad again, it was very weak. I give it a three with consideration of the geographical area. a two if it where in a big city. read more

My family and I were driving back to Washington, DC from Scranton and couldn't wait the hour drive to Harrisburg to get some eats. So we just got off the exit and took our chances in Frackville. I am SO GLAD we did! I was a little nervous when I got off the highway. But, this place was easy to spot on the main road, and had a banner that shouted out "HOMEMADE BREAD." I had to STOP and check it out. It was GREAT PIT STOP. What I liked: 1. handicap accessible for my disabled aunt 2. clean 3. GREAT FOOD 4. reasonable prices 5. attentive and friendly service We had onion rings and calamari to start. Both DELICIOUS! For main meals we had EGGPLANT PARM sandwich, Chicken PARM sandwich and Philly cheesesteak. EVERYTHING was YUMMY! good sized portions. WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND! read more

My family and I were returning from DC to Syracuse and we were tired and hungry and looking for a hot meal; we found a great place in Original Italian Pizza - the server was a wonderful , welcoming and friendly woman. She was good natured and was full of suggestions and recommendations. The food was excellent and made from fresh ingredients. We had the Tomato Bruschetta as an appetizer and it was delicious. The restaurant was clean and bright. If you are travelling along Rt 81 , stop at the Original Italian Pizza ( not to be confused with the chain OIP) , you will not be disappointed. read more

My husband just called OIP in Frackville and ordered hoagies. The guy was a dick from the very second he answered the phone, very short and harsh. We ordered a California chicken cheese steak sandwich, 2 cheese steaks and a kids chicken finger-They don't carry chicken anymore to make a chicken cheese steak...ok. So he ordered a regular cheesesteak California style. That's not what I wanted, and I'm not about to pay for something I don't want, that's not how I roll. Lol. So I called back, not 5 minutes later and canceled the order. He snapped. "Well what am I supposed to do with this food?" I don't know, I said "I'm sorry". He then tells me "I guess I'll just call the police". I tell him "have fun with that" and he hung up. What a jerk. (I used other words on Facebook but guess I should refrain from in here). I could of just let the food sit there and not pick it up. No. I did the right thing and called you and told you I don't want it. Asshat. Call the cops for 25$ in food. Yeh they don't have better things to do. OIP, NEVER AGAIN. Try customer service sir or just common decency. This is not the first time I've had an issue with this particular store, but the first time I've wrote about it. Let's start with this is my very first review on yelp and I use yelp all the time. We stopped in our RV.. Took up one parking space In their lot I might add.. Not a sole in the restaurant only us it was 4:30pm. As we were starting to order they told us we could not park in their parking lot and we had to leave.. They would not serve us and they were pretty dang rude! I would not step foot in this restaurant or recommend this place to anyone! While driving to northeast PA from Baltimore, my car needed gas and our family, a meal. We pulled off rte 81 at Frackville, and luckily stumbled on this lovely little place in what otherwise seemed a depressed area. Our server, and perhaps owner, Enza, was beyond gracious and made me the best cappuccino I've ever had. She even gave me another cup on the house. This is excellent, non-greasy, authentic Italian food at reasonable prices. Child friendly as well. When we return to the area, I will certainly visit Enza again. read more

Used to be one of my favorite restaurants in the area. There is not many good options around here when going out to eat. Used to go here around 2-3 times per month. However last visit I got an eggplant parm which was really dry. I asked for some sauce for it and that's all it needed. Got the bill and they charged 1 dollar for the tablespoon of sauce! Big turn off for me. I will not be back unless I am desperate. It's a shame because when a restaurant nickels and dimes like that and to someone who goes often it just leaves a bad taste in my mouth :( read more

We had 2 salads and a cheesesteak with sauce. The grilled chicken in the ceasar salad was rubbery and Luke warm. No flavor. The cheesesteak was soggy and had terrible flavor. Dont eat here unless you have to. The floor was also sticky. read more

Not sure why other people had such bad experiences. This is my second time here (first time last January). Having dinner while in the area for work. Service very friendly and laid back. My request to get "slow" service (wanted to kill some time and enjoy some wine) was actually taken seriously. Waitress left me alone but stayed in touch for refills and drinks. Awesome. Food was very good and freshly prepared. Pizza with lots of toppings. Prices are reasonable and the place is clean. What else can you wish for. Will be back when in the area again! read more

Sometimes, when you travel into the country, it's hard to find food that isn't deep fried or served at a buffet. It's also sometimes hard to find coffee that hasn't been sitting on a burner for two hours or isn't Starbucks or Dunkin' Donuts. So when you find a place, you store it in your memory banks. This is such a place. Great sandwich and espresso. Real Italian in the heart of PA! It's about a mile off of 81, but the next time I'm passing through, I'll definitely go the extra mile. read more

We had called on Thursday for a reservation at 9pm- we were told we didn't need one (even though we had a huge group). We got there at 9pm and the doors were locked and they turned out the lights on us. Maybe they close at 9? WHY didn't they say that when we called?! This place was awful. I got a bacon blt. 7 dollars for burned bacon on Italian bread and lettuce and mayo. I didn't ask for tomatoes. The Mozzarella sticks were terrible. 5 for 6 dollars. They didn't even taste good and the tomato sauce looked like it came out of my girlfriend when it's her time of the month. Tasted like it too. I would never go back. Over priced and bad tasting. Great food in small town Pennsylvania! I stopped by with my girlfriend after a hike through Centralia. Although we were surprised to see such expensive entrees in a place as quaint as Frackville, there were plenty of more reasonably priced options. I had a delicious Portabella Blue Cheese Burger for just under five bucks. The Portabella was deep fried and the Blue Cheese didn't seem to be anything special but the combination was like a flavor punch to tongue! After that experience we decided to try the Cannoli. There dessert menu is full of great looking pies and cakes but it seemed like the Cannoli were the only things made in house and trust me, they do it right. I wouldn't leave without trying one. Total I spent $18 not including tip for two burgers, two beers, a plate of fries and a Cannoli. Definitely take the time to stop by this place if you're passing through Frackville. read more

This place used to be one of my favorite places to eat. Went here a week ago for pizza and a salad and was severely dissatisfied. First of all, when i order a $11-$12 salad i expect it to be worth the money. What i received was some salad leaves tossed on a plate and chicken with hot sauce drowning it on top and nothing else to compliment it. Then i got my pizza. The entire bottom was black and tasted burnt. I picked the slice up and im not joking, water and grease actually was dripping off of it. Disgusting and turned my stomach. I don't know what happened to this place but it is not what it used to be at all. To wrap this up, 4 shitty salads and a pizza for $65. Very dissapointed. read more
