coconut pancakes, the standard, original skillet, mini dutch garden

To be honest, as much as I love the idea of a diner, I'm not a huge fan of breakfast/diner food and so I thought my food was just ok. HOWEVER, I REALLY liked the mini dutch garden and I would come back just to order that again.

During my visit, I experience good customer service; employees are kind and helpful with navigating the Vegan options of the menu/eatery. The Vegan pancakes are tasty (fluffy and light, with subtle sweetness). The bananas and strawberries may suffice, adding sweeter more wholesome flavors to each bite. Even so, the establishment has in-house syrup and strawberry syrup (which tastes like hot strawberry jam) to add a different sharper sweetness. One may have to double check with the eatery to discover if the whipped cream is Vegan. The meal is filling and tastes delicious two days later after a reheating from a refrigerator. Chill vibes. The establishment offers a variety of seating options. The establishment accepts different forms of payment.

Solid family friendly breakfast spot serving up fresh pancakes and a variety of other morning favorites. The staff were super friendly and welcoming from the moment we arrived. The coffee was A+ and served in the cutest original pancake house mugs. It stood out to me how they asked if you would like dark or medium roast coffee. They clearly take pride in what they are brewing nowadays! I felt obligated to order pancakes since it's in the name. I opted for the 2 X 4 which was 2 eggs and 4 pancakes. This was a nice portion. The pancakes are on the smaller side so I understand why an order comes with more than the standard diner 3. They were delicious and satisfied my pancake craving. You could tell they were fresh and the food came out hot. The prices here are very reasonable in my opinion. You can come for breakfast without spending a fortune. I enjoyed this meal and will return.

This was my first time visiting for a late breakfast on a Sunday afternoon; well worth the 20 minute wait! Our server was very lovely and swift. We ordered 2 eggs and sausage with hash browns and toast for extra charges. We also ordered the egg skillet which is honestly a dish big enough for 2. Both came with an order of buttermilk pancakes which were heaven sent! What blew my mind was the apple pancake! It's not so much of a pancake consistency, but more like a bread pudding texture with warm caramelized apples on top! To drink, we ordered fresh squeezed orange juice. Despite the wait times for seating, this is a great diner for classic breakfast!

Our very first visit to the OPH in West Caldwell and they 'may have' the very best tasting and lightest pancakes we have ever had. The service is 5 stars and the atmosphere is amazing. We will definitely return to have the short stack pancakes and their fresh farm sourced pork sausages.

Original Pancake House never disappoints. Even on a busy Sunday we received great service and the food came out quick. The pancakes were as always and their Corned Beef Hash was very tasty.

There's nothing fancy about the Original Pancake House, and that's as it should be. The food is fresh, entirely homemade, hot, comforting and 100% delicious. The service is welcoming and friendly. They greet you like family, but family that actually likes having you as guests. The restaurant is starting to show it's age a bit, but it still clean and comfortable and absolutely fine for a breakfast place. There are plenty of tables and even when the parking lot is full you'll seldom have much of a wait. The food is definitely a step up from what you'd get in a diner. The pancakes are great (and in a place called the Orginal Pancake House, they'd better be). I went old school and had blueberry pancakes. They were packed with fresh blueberries. The were large, fluffy and perfectly cooked. On my next visit I had their famous Apple Pancake, which was delicious, filling and very rich. It was quite sweet and ate more like a dessert than a breakfast. I'd recommend ordering one to share with the table (which is what we did on our next visit). My mother ordered the Mini Dutch Garden, which is sort of like an airy baked omelet mixed with eggs, cheese and garden vegetables. It's fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. We all liked it so much, we've ordered it on every subsequent visit. The coffee is hot and strong and the refills are frequent. I can't say enough good things about Original Pancake House. It's one of our favorite breakfast places. They even have freshly squeezed orange juice!

Huge portions of tasty breakfast foods in a homey diner space with awesome service. We had the apple pancake, original skillet, and a side of buttermilk pancakes and sausage. Everything came out piping hot and the apple pancake is basically like a glorified apple pie except the crust is pancake/Dutch baby - it's fluffy, layered with caramelized cinnamon apples, and as big as a full dinner plate. The original skillet sated my savory cravings, but it was very heavy and felt like a bit of a gut bomb later. Coffee was diner coffee so kina meh, but they did a good job keeping your mug warmed with a fresh coffee topper. The space itself has sort of an 80's diner-grandma feel, but in a comforting cozy kind of way. Our server was fast, friendly and helpful, and seemed genuinely sweet. Would return but downsize on # of items since portions are ginormous.

Let's start off with coffee . You have a choice of medium or dark roast . I was confused when asked because that's unique. But what really makes this place unique is the warm syrup, pancakes, and bacon strips. The pancakes are light and taste amazing. The bacon is a perfect size and cooked perfectly. I enjoyed my breakfast very much and will be returning to try other things.

So this was the first original house of pancakes established in the state of New Jersey, and I must say I was impressed with the food. I tried their coconut pancakes with the special made syrup for it, and I must say they always amaze my taste buds. Also tried the strawberry pancakes with special strawberry syrup . The service from the waitress I received was exceptional. She was very attentive even when the food come came out she noticed a part of the order was missing so the staff was very attentive to detail on the order. The ambience is just like an old rustic diner, but it made Everything worth the while for the visit.

Some of my first crepes. Really good with generous fresh fruit toppings. My friend loved the pancakes.

With that being said the service we received here yesterday was outstanding and better than any five star restaurant. I cannot say how wonderful our waiter was.. I can't remember his name because let's face it. I had a few drinks because that's what it's about there. I believe it was. Giancarlo? So the manager if you see this, please let me know if that's correct or not. This kid was incredible. He was helpful without being overbearing. He was great with his beer knowledge, but we really sold me was when there was a table behind us that had a son with special needs at this young man treated that table with kindness and compassion and really we need more of that. To the owner of this business, I know that the wait staff gets a very minimal amount per hour because they depend on tips, but if there's anyway you can raise his base pay, I would love to see that we were only gonna have one drink each, but because of how he treated us we ended up having two for me and three for my husband, that young man is an investment

My bacon beef burger was juuust before medium, exactly how I wanted Great flavor, more guac than I thought as I ate through it. Good amount of fries, just need one recommendation: Dipping sauce plz. The appetizer of cheese curds was well stocked to satisfy my craving and came with the perfect dip. I get the feeling if we ate in-house, more dips would be provided on request. So that's bringing up to 4 stars. If I revisit in person, pray I alter it further. ;)

The next time I came back, they had already been swapped out for regular fries. I ended up just having a coffee and leaving. Removing staples like slow-cooked pork or beef feels like an odd choice. I understand times are hard for restaurants and costs are high, but those dishes are what made this place unique and worth seeking out. Shrimp tacos or regular burgers I can get at any diner. The new owners have completely reimagined the space into a moderately upscale, but still family-friendly, Mediterranean oasis with a contemporary aesthetic that's also a huge culinary step up from its predecessor. The staff was friendly and super attentive without ever being overbearing and went the extra mile to ensure we had a great meal and a great experience. My dining companion and I started with the special Trio Dip ($20), a fantastic, delicious starter with shareable portions of traditional hummus, a unique avocado hummus, and perfectly smoky baba ghanoush with crunchy walnuts alongside with a basket of warmly toasted pita bread. For our entree, we decided to share the Mandaloun Mix Grill ($40) and split the three kebabs -- filet mignon shish, ground beef kofta, and grilled chicken. This platter is a masterclass in grilling with three juicy and flavorful kebabs. Mandaloun also pays attention to small details that make the dining experience so memorable. We were both huge fans of the dipping dish with a concoction of olive oil, za'atar seasoning, and sesame seeds served with the pita and the toum -- an emulsion of garlic, oil, lemon juice, and salt which creates a thick, mayonnaise-like condiment that is 100% vegan and dairy-free -- served alongside our entree that's a perfect zesty pairing for the grilled chicken. One of the staff noticed how much I enjoyed both and brought over a small 'to go' container of each for us to take home. There was also a brief "if you know, you know" moment during dinner that I am sure was entirely unintentional. Our Mandaloun Mix Grill entree came with a tasty green salad topped with crispy pita strips, which felt like a very sophisticated homage to the Friendly's Crispy Chicken Salad entree that was topped with tortilla strips. PRO TIP #1: Bring a bottle of wine or beer from home to enjoy with your meal. Mandaloun is a BYOB establishment and does not serve alcohol. PRO TIP #2: Bring cash. Mandaloun has added a small surcharge for using credit cards to pay for your meal.
