We came here two different times this week and both times we had quick service and a huge selection, the doughnuts were delicious.

Well in my Donut Journey in Phoenix I discovered Rainbow Donuts. The donuts are massive in size. The flat square Cronut is fantastic, flaky, glazed, flavor bomb that sent me on a sugar high. The donut holes were fantastic & I wish I had gotten some. These were free. They were little bombs of delight that I could not stop eating them. The rest were just good average donuts. I would definitely stop back and would recommend the donut holes and Cronut. read more

While the donuts were good, they did not feel super fresh. The chocolate tasted a little artificial, however, the dough was chewy and light. The donuts were very reasonably priced and the service was good. I wish the donuts were given in a box to keep fresher. I can't believe I've lived 10 minutes away from Original Rainbow Donuts for over a year and a half without knowing about its existence. Someone should've told me sooner because WOW! These donuts are sooo good. I tried the plain glazed, sugar, and vanilla sprinkled donuts. All of them have such a light, airy dough. The original glazed had the perfect amount of icing (not too much). The sugar was less sweet but I still really enjoyed it since there is sweetness that comes from the sugar on the outside. Last, the vanilla sprinkled donut had just came out of the oven so the icing wasn't 100% set and it was heavenly. The woman working was very sweet as well. A line quickly formed behind us and now I know why! Definitely give this place a try! read more

Came in, probably too early, no cinnamon rolls out but I did pick up a lovely & fresh maple long John. So light & fluffy. Also picked up a cronut & crumb. The crumb was cakier & denser than I care for but the flavor was good. Cronut was good but jury is still out how I feel about density. Owner was super nice & apologized for not having everything out but explained it's because it's summer & most people aren't rushing around first thing in the AM & trying to get kids to school. I can understand & respect that. It does remind me though that as a single woman with no kids that I am lower on the customer service scale though since I don't have those same accommodations. I am sure that wasn't the intent or thought process so much as, "phew, my kids aren't in school, I can relax a little." I'll have to come back at a later time and try the cinnamon rolls. read more

I went in this morning to find out that Connie the owner had retired. I have been a loyal customer of hers for over 5 years. Not to say goodbye to a long time patron who kept your doors open with all the other customers was pretty crappy. What about a THANK YOU? Today I sampled a maple glazed donut and some donut holes. Boy were they tasty! The donut hole was perfectly glazed sweetness. The dough on both were airy and flavorful. It's right the street from me, and I have been coming here for a few years, as it was highly recommended by a colleague that was a donut fanatic. The glazed donuts are delicious and the donut holes are the best here. Prices have been good, considering the national chains, and I always feel good supporting a local business. A couple of issues: First, I went there today, and I noticed the ridiculous price increase. I was charged almost $6 for 6 donut holes and 2 glazed donuts. I asked the owner there, and she smugly said, "well, it's inflation." I pulled out a receipt from a few weeks ago, that she charged me $1.50 less. A dozen donuts here are close to $20. Secondly, if you arrive after 9 am, you are likely to have almost nothing available on a Tuesday morning since they don't open on Monday. On other days, if you arrive after 9:30 am, there are very few donuts left. Third, I've noticed that glazed donuts have given me heartburn. I asked the owner if she changed her recipe or has done something different. She said it was something on me and gave a weird attitude. I didn't feel very good or welcomed here. Just moved into a new neighborhood and found this gem down the street. I was looking for a great donut place and sampled a couple of in the area. I was shocked at what passed for acceptable. Then I tried the Original Rainbow Donuts. Outstanding!!! The donuts are fresh and as delicious as I remember donuts from my childhood. The Jelly was perfect. Fresh and fruity with no artificial taste. The donuts themselves were light delicious with absolutely no hint of grease. I am embarrassed to say that they were so good I went back the very next day. I can now tell you that the old fashioned is every bit as good as the jelly. I am certain that everything in that case is outstanding. I will of course have to prove that to myself over time. Donuts! I stopped by to grab some donuts for a coworker's last day. There were a few other people I line ahead of me but it moved quickly since it's just donuts. I got a dozen assorted and the nice woman chose them for me, and I also got a chocolate croissant for myself cuz that's one of my favorite treats. The employee was friendly and hardworking and I appreciated her. The croissant was flaky and chocolatey, just as it should be and it was yummy.
