We originally planned to have brunch next door, but the wait was way too long, so we stopped into The Local Donut Shop instead and I'm glad we did! These aren't your typical donuts; they have a great variety of specialty flavors. I tried the strawberry shortcake and Bavarian cream and both were delicious. Daniel (owner or employee) was super friendly and helpful when I asked about the fillings. Only downside is parking can be a little crazy on weekends, but it's definitely worth a quick stop if you're in the mood for great donuts and coffee. read more

Ended up going here for breakfast as the establishment next-door was too packed and the reservation list was taken too long. It was quick and easy. All the donuts were ready to go. The coffee was hot and fresh. I ended up ordering the chocolate glaze donut and the strawberry crunch donut and paired it with the blueberry coffee. I was very satisfied with my selection and the donuts were nice and soft and fresh and flavorful. I thought the prices were pretty reasonable and they had a good selection of specialty donuts. read more

Stumbled across this family owned donut shop in south Scottsdale on superbowl Sunday. What a variety of donuts with unique flavors and pastry like quality. So many to choose from. I chose a traditional dark chocolate cruller and a apple fritter. My non traditional pick was a Chantilly cream topped croissant donut. Great take out packaging. The apple fritter was filled with apple cinnamon goodness and was not greasy at all. The eggs cruller was topped with a hard shell of dark chocolate. The cruller dough was light with that rich egg taste. The Chantilly cream was like a pillow on top of a croissant dough donut. Definitely a pastry treat. This shop has plenty of traffic and we will be back on our annual trek to the area. read more

Visiting friends in the area and they made sure to bring us to everyone's favorite donut shop - the Local Donut. Located in a small strip mall next to the car wash. Ample parking in the front and tons more in the back lot. Since the new brunch spot opened in the same plaza, parking has been a little bit tougher but be patient the donuts are worth it. They have your regular donuts but what's cool and different about this place are their craft "fancy" donuts. We got a little of everything to try. Creme brulee, oreo, chantilly berry, maple bacon, apple cider, pumpkin cheesecake, and their cronuts. Enjoyed all the donuts and the flavors are top notch. The Local Donut is located in a shopping center. They have parking in the front and around the back. We visited this location on a Thursday and Saturday morning and parking was not an issue. Both visits we did an assortment of donuts. The donuts are easily viewable in the case. Pricing is clear on the wall. All the donuts we tried were delicious and fresh. My favorite was the blueberry old fashioned. Store had a small seating area & was clean. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Updating my previous review since it has been a few years since I wrote that. They have modernized and cleaned up the location a bit as the little shopping center they're part of has also gotten a revamp. The place still has a few tables outside and a few inside, but the location is largely occupied by the donut counter. They have many standards that are fantastic (we like the old fashioned varieties and I really love the mochi style donuts), but the fun part is the rotating selections -- if you can get a black sesame mochi donut, (or, there was some kind of a berry-yuzu mix that I swear I had but can't remember the exact mix), those are great. Be aware that the flavors on the mochi donuts are more subtle than those on the crazy "Fancy" or "Schmancy" varieties. They do a great job with crullers, which can be difficult. (Just be sure to eat those on the day you buy them!) Note that it can get crowded, especially on weekends, but the lines tend to move pretty quickly. Also note that there is parking behind the building, which can be important to know when the front lot is absolutely packed! Still a solid choice and still 5 stars. read more

I'd heard good things about this donut shop, and have tried a donut or two from here, but this was my first visit. I stopped by one weekend afternoon to pick up a surprise bag from TGTG. It's a great deal, donuts at a discounted price and you help reduce food waste. I got there and was greeted by the friendly employee. I let them know I had a bag to pick up and they packed up a box for me. I double checked my order and made sure I got my assorted dozen. I got home and tried a few flavors, including their chocolate glazed and red velvet crumb. Both were tasty, as was the chocolate sprinkle cake donut. I also froze some donuts as we weren't going to eat them all, and when I reheated it, it tasted good! Some of their fancy donuts in the shop looked really appetizing, like their cronuts and mochi donuts, so I'd consider paying more for the surprise bag that would include some of those. This place is POPPIN'. If you want out-of-the-ordinary, FANCY donuts to try or even gift to someone, this is the place for you! The donut flavors are very unique and a little on the pricey side but great if you want to satisfy your sweet tooth. Staff was super nice and welcoming, and the place is very clean but can get really crowded as parking was quite difficult to find! They do offer traditional donuts as well but I would highly suggest to come here mostly for their fancy donuts, as I feel you can get traditional donuts for cheap elsewhere. We tried their creme brulee, smores, oreo cookie, the queen, PB&J and maple bacon and they were great but they are also quite large so you might need to actually sit down and eat them LOL We really loved the PB&J, Maple Bacon and Queen as we felt it had a nice balance to sweet and saltiness and really loved how The Queen was topped with fruit; however, creme brulee, smores and oreo cookie were a little too sweet for our taste~ This is definitely a place to bring someone to if they're touring around AZ and are looking for unique, aesthetically-pleasing donut spots in the area. read more

this is truly one of the best donut spots in the valley! service was extremely quick and kind, you can feel "mom and pop" vibes as soon as you walk in. we got a half dozen donuts including their specialty donut - the pb&j (my absolute FAVORITE, i can't believe how much it actually tasted like pb&j), the blueberry old fashioned donut (my other favorite), the buttermilk bar, s'mores, berry chantilly, and maple bacon. they were all fluffy, fresh, and didn't taste oily/greasy at all. the buttermilk bar was definitely the most dense of the donuts, which i don't prefer, but the flavor was still all there. read more

After an event in the same shopping center, I stumped into The Local Donut. Located in a popular shopping center, I was able to find a spot. While they don't have the most creative name for a donut shop, I was very much impressed once I went outside. Ambiance (3/5): Pretty much a standard donut shop with hipster vibes. I got takeout but they have a couple of tables if you want to dine in. You order at the counter. Service (3/5): Since you order at the counter, service isn't a big part of the experience. There was no line so I ordered quickly. Even though there isn't much service, their electronic kiosk does ask for a tip. Drinks (N/A): Donuts only for me on this visit so I can't comment on their beverages. Food (5/5): Now this is what you've been waiting for. They have an impressive array of impressive donuts. They are known for their creme brulee donut and it lived up to the hype! It's is a delicious glazed donut. Don't pass on it. They also have cronuts and I'm a big fan of cronuts. I went with their chantilly cream cronut which was also delicious with its flaky and sweet goodness. If you've never had a cronut before, don't wait any longer. They have Nutella cronuts on the weekend only so I'll have to return since I stopped by on a weekday. So I came back! I wanted a sweet pick me up after a busy morning. I perused the donut case and settled on (1) almond croissant and (1) raspberry crème donut. Grand total- $10! I beg your pardon?!?!!!! Not too enthused about the prices...but I was already committed. Took them home and on the drive I felt the need to nibble on the raspberry crème- turns out, it wasn't just a nibble. I felt it would be dishonorable to take one bite so I had to eat it all. Still not worth $5, but definitely $2.50 or $3. Next morning I ate the croissant with my coffee. I'm definitely a croissant snob. It was worth $4. Not a lot of almond filling. We were visiting in the area and saw this rated as a top spot so had to come check out. The selection of donuts was awesome and we wanted to try everything as it all looked and smelled amazing! Service was quick and friendly, there was a constant flow of people coming in and out and you can tell this is a hot spot for breakfast. Amazing selection of donuts. I ordered a dozen of half traditional and half classy donuts to bring to the office. Everyone said they were delicious! I saw a matcha crumb cronut and had to order one for myself. I wish I could relieve the experience of biting into it for the first time. Buttery, flaky goodness filled with matcha cream and had the perfect amount of salt as well. I would go back for that alone but everything else is tempting too! I'm a sucker for a good apple fritter and this place knocks it our of the park! I have tried to work my way through the menu but keep getting the fritter. The various croissant looked delicious and I will finally get one there's plain and almond ham and cheese. Coffee is tasty but if you come for doughnuts you're just fine. It is a smaller place and all the donuts are on display which I like so I can see and determine which one looks to best to me. The woman helping me was patience and kind it was a little overwhelming and she gave me space but also offered recommendations. The croissant donuts were my absolute fav closely followed by a classic cake. Each one has a distinct flavor you weren't searching for the apple or lemon or whatever the star wa. It was clear. We were going to the Mercantile market when we decided to stop by this unique donut shop. There were several people waiting in line so we figured it must be good! The shop is small but they do a great job keeping the line moving. They had a plethora of donuts to choose from. We chose the old-fashioned blueberry doughnut, and a cherry pie doughnut. Please see attached photos. You could tell the they were of good quality and made from scratch. There were several whole blueberries in the old-fashioned. The texture was moist and the outside had a good crust. The cherry pie doughnut was also very good. The dough was nice and moist. I especially loved the crumble on the outside of the doughnut and how they fill the hole with cherry pie filling We would definitely stop by this donut shop again.
