I happened to be in the area for some specific work on my pickup and the appointment extended a bit longer than I anticipated. Quick Google and Yelp search in this fairly bleak (in terms of dining) area of Lents and Original Sub Factory kept coming up. After my appointment, I drove the few short minutes down Foster and yep, there it was. The store is clean, the owners/operators are friendly, the sandwich was GREAT and the cost was entirely reasonable. I had the lunch special, which was a half sandwich, side and drink for $10 (!). I chose the #1, which is ham, salami and pepperoni. Got everything on it minus onions and olives. Super fresh bread, freshly sliced meat; it was outstanding. I was disappointed highly because I have the best subs around, but today I was driving to Portland from Ridgefield Washington cuz I wanted my dad and stepdad to try their subs and when I got here they were closed I was here at 5:15 and one guy outside said they left like 15 minutes ago you're supposed to stay up until 5:30 I spent an hour driving in traffic to come get their sub sandwich they didn't even stay open till 5:30 I even tried calling them on the phone at 5:10 and 5:15 and nobody would answer to order it so I can just pick it up when I got here I'm very disappointed today and not to take away anything from the Sub Factory sandwiches they're the best it driving 30 miles here in 30 Mi back plus gas I was very upset so where did the wise better get there before 5:30 or before 5:00. I will be back again for sure but I think it's bad business when you don't stay open till you're supposed to especially the place like this that a lot of people love would be nice to get a discount on a sub for it but I'm not the whining type looking for handout so it is what it is. So I've wanted to try this sub shop for a long time and it didn't disappoint! They have multiple boards to choose from, from normal people to the I want a huge giant masterpiece lol I was not super hungry so I just got a footlong ham and turkey. They ask what you want on it, I chose all the fixins but the peppers. The bread is super fresh and soft, and it was a great fresh sub! And the best part is the value! Always delicious food. The service is wonderful simple and right straight to the point. I'm almost positive this is the same sub shop that used to be next to Baskin-Robbins years and years ago and then it was in the little market I think on 111th and Foster before it was Plaid Pantry. I remember because of the oil and vinegar mostly lol now I go here as often as possible with my own children. I have to turn my boyfriend onto the place and a bunch of his friends. I like their bentos too. It's always clean and well lit and they are straight to the point but also very friendly. They are so busy all the time but they managed to handle it all. The woman at the cash register was so efficient; she was even taking phone orders as she was helping customers. The service was cheerful and quick. We decided to go "traditional" so we could experience the true Sub Factory. As we shared a large turkey & ham, we couldn't stop with the "Mmmms" and "this is a yummy sandwich!" The bread was perfect. Soft & flavorful yet not falling apart. We enjoyed the fresh meats, cheese & veggies as they were enhanced by just the right ratio of oil & vinegar. I noted that both staff and customers greeted each other by name. It gave a sure sense of neighborhood. All this great food & experience for less cost than any chain sandwich I've had.
