The service was great and very fast, the man running the cart was very kind. However, the food was terrible. We started with tater tots and a pretzel. The tots were soaked in grease. I'm a fan of bar food, and don't mind if it's a bit greasy but these tots were just wet with grease. The pretzel had way too much salt on it and the cheese it comes with tastes like it came out of a can or something it has absolutely no flavor. Came to the heist today to check out the Smashburger joint. I love Smashburger and I seek them out. All are not the same! Some say they're smashed and they're not. This place is SMASHED! Two juicy burgers on a soft nice bun. Lots of cheese! A really good tasting sauce. I thoroughly enjoyed this Smashburger. Is one of the best I've ever had. He has other sandwiches, including a hotdog that I may have to come back and try! I don't know. I'm sure I'll be craving this burger again soon! Craving a smash burger and saw the impressive reviews. The truck looked well maintained with no observed issues. The woman who helped me was friendly and took my order in exchange for a beeper. The food pod, the Heist, is a great setup. Lots of outside seating, covered areas for the rain and an indoor space as well. I received the food in a timely manner and was home quickly. It was a pretty good burger. The fries were incredibly salty and could have been cooked a little longer to get the crisp I like. This was my first time going to the heist. I wish I had gone with another food cart however. Went on a Sunday, showed up just before 4 o'clock. When I arrived I asked the younger gal working how she was doing - she didn't say much and just moved on to taking our order. Her inability to acknowledge me was disappointing, even as I'm trying to pay she walked away and I had to call her back over and let her know I had cash. No physical receipts available which I needed for work documentation, no napkins. Food took about 20 minutes which is fine - we weren't in a rush. However the Rueben was dry and the cheese not at all melted, the burger was as thin as a credit card and dryer than the desert, and two meals were shoved in one box.... I didn't understand this as every other group that was ordering was receiving separate boxes other than our group which also was the only group containing a disabled individual. So yeah I'll save my 30+$ in the future or just go elsewhere. Oh and lastly don't go to your job with a miserable attitude everyday - no one deserves to deal with that when they are just trying to get some food. read more

I'm definitely glad that I tried this cat out while at the food cart pod. There's not that many places that have a chopped cheese as a regular item on the menu. We have only tried the Veggie smash burgers and fries here. The staff are very nice and quick. The prices are reasonable and portions are generous. The fries are excellent. Their house-made veggie burger has good flavors but the texture is mushy! So mushy! It is hard to get past the mushiness. I would not order it again. Veggie burgers are so hit or miss. Fresh N Funky is top-tier smash burger food. For the price of $15 you can get their double patty with fries or, what I like to do, get two single patties and fries for the same price. The latter is more food for the same price and both are so delicious. The fries are great, the burgers are juicy but not messy, and they it menu isn't massive; like In N Out, a small menu but everything on it has been mastered. The two guys I've met there are really chill and provide great service. I highly recommend this place and yes it's in the middle of Woodstock so, as a Beaverton resident, it's far but completely worth it. read more

Repeat customer here. Everything we've ordered has been yum! And so glad they started making fries...real potato with a freshly fried crunch, yum! Our go-to-order would have to be the patty melt...juicy meaty sautéed sweet onion cheesy melting goodness. They had an amazing meatball sandwich back in the day too, but not sure if that just a special on no longer available. It on our list of top food trucks here in portland. Good newish location with indoor seating and bar if you want beer or cider to wash down your meal. And service has always been pleasant and wait time reasonable considering it's made fresh. First, there are really nice staff every time I go there. Always appreciated. I've tried everything: NY Chopped Cheese was my first. It's a Chicago bodega sandwich that tastes something like a smash burger meets a Philly cheesesteak. High quality bread elevates the experience. So do thin, crispy fries. I loved the Homemade Meatball Sub too. It had both perfectly seasoned meat AND perfectly seasoned sauce--nothing 'gamey' about the meatballs that you sometimes experience ("fresh" and not "funky"! lol). An appreciable amount of meat and cheeses too, and the bread stayed crispy without being over-toasted. The Reuben special is now on the menu! Why? Because it's exceptional. The Smash Burger was my least favorite meal. Good, but nothing special about it. The Patty Melt was tied for my fave as well. Just great. The Zenner's Hot Dog had that great 'pop' and was unique. Really good! Not a meal though. The Homemade Veggie Burger was the most surprising of all. Like none you've ever had. GREAT flavor and portion. It's more of black bean, veg, and grain style. You can tell it's labor intensive and meat eaters will not be disappointed. In summary, everything is pretty much in the 'exceptional' category, for a seemingly low brow food cart, with the exception of the smash burger, which was just okay for me. If I had to choose just one, it would be the NY Chop, then the Rueben or the Patty Melt or the Meatball Sub lol. While I LOVE the fries, and the portions, I'd also appreciate the option to sub a nice mixed green salad (e.g., w/ a simple rasp vinaigrette + some nuts), now and then. read more

As a business owner, you need to communicate to your clients when you will be open. Some of customers have to work our hours around to come grab lunch. I'll start with the bad: neither of the two people working here were wearing masks. (Writing this in the middle of the omicron wave). Ugh. At the other carts, all employees were masked up, as were all the customers. These were the only two people in sight without masks.
